Cleaning up task sequencing logging configuration. TSBootShell 2013-10-14 17:15:44 752 (0x02F0)

Hi,
In the hope of helping others avoid the lengthy troubleshooting and searching we've been through...
I recently had this error on our OSD reference image task sequences. We eventually found the solution (after a couple of days trawling the net) on Niall Brady's web site.
URL amended to be able to post - remove spaces :)
www . niallbrady . com /2013/05/17/after-selecting-a-task-sequence-in-configuration-manager-2012-sp1-you-receive-threadtoresolveandexecutetasksequence-failed-code0x8007000e-in-smsts-log/
The basic cause is that we update our ref image every 3 months with the latest updates applicable via SUP (Software Update Point) and the amount of deployed updates to the collection containing the reference image Virtual Machine had grown too large.
The resolution for us was to delete all of the old SUP packages targeted to the reference build collection (or remove all of those deployments), and only use the latest created package/group.
I guess if you don't include updates in your base reference image, you may run into this issue with all Task Sequences, not just the reference image TS. One to watch for which is not at all obvious.
Could it be that the original poster had that particular machine in a collection that had too many SUP packages deployed to it?

Here is the complete smsts.log: http://1drv.ms/1pwTEBf
To explain the Problem in Detail:
The SCCM Primary Site Server and the Clients are in different trusted (bidirectional) forests!
Everythings working fine in this Scenario, I can install SCCM Agent on the Clients with Manual ccmsetup and with Client Push Installation. Additionally i can deploy Software Updates and so on... only OSD is crashing in the releaserequest step.
During my Tasksequence new Clients are joined to Domain A while SCCM Primary Site Server is installed in Domain B
If I change my TS and let the Clients also join Domain B everything works without any Problems and the Tasksequence finish without any Errors.
My Problem must be related to the different Domains and the forest trust.
    My Setup:
MP published to DNS in both domains
    Schema Extended in both domains
System Management Container published and verified in both domains
ccmsetup Parameters in TS: ccmsetup SMSMP=sccm.domain.b FSP=sccm.domain.b DNSSUFFIX=Domain.b
Network Access account configured with Domain B account
Domain Join account has create Computer rights on the OU in Domain A (Domain join is successful)
DNs conditional forwarders configured in both Domains and DNS resolutin is working in both directions
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks.
    regards,
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
So do you actual get an error message in your TS or is it just failing to join Domain B?  (Could be both if the machines fails to join the domain).
Can you review netsetup.log on the machines after the issue and see what error message you might be getting during the domain join process?
Also, if it a domain join issue, can you try manually joining to domain B using the same service account?

  • UDI OSD Task Sequences started failing with 0x80070002 error in SCCM 2012

This is kind of long, but here goes...
We built a UDI task sequence in SCCM 2012 (with MDT integration) that we were testing for deployment of a couple of different Win7 images.  We customized the UDI experience thru the UDI wizard and XML file and OS deployment worked as expected
thru the task sequence (testing on Hyper-V VMs). Recently, this UDI TS started failing with error 0x80070002  during what appears to be the "Use Toolkit Package" step.  This is after the OS image has already been laid down and after the ConfigMgr
client has been installed/configured.  The SMSTS.log reports "Failed to open the task sequence key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Task Sequence.  Error code 0x8007002"  Among other errors...I will post the entire log below...
After the error during deployment, Win7 will boot normally, however, you have no network connectivity and it appears the proper network driver didn't get loaded in the OS. Combine this with the fact that the TS should have joined the machine to our domain,
but you can't login because no network.. Im not sure if the network issue is a product of the TS failing early or the actual cause of the TS failure.
Anyway, I attempted to build another UDI task sequence using the same boot image and toolkit/settings packages, but am experiencing the same error during deployment.  We have a few OSD task sequences built without UDI and those all still work just fine.
So, I am at a loss for where the root problem lies.  Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the entire SMSTS.log and BDD.log...

your failure does appear to be network (driver or otherwise) or dns related and it cannot contact the management point FQDN just around the time where it should download and execute the
    Use Toolkit Package step...
    "Starting Task Sequence Engine . . . "
"Non fatal error 0x80072ee7 in sending task sequence execution status message to MP"
"Start executing an instruciton. Instruction name: Use Toolkit Package. Instruction pointer: 83"

that said, check that the package referenced above actually exists and is the correct source version on your distribution points, also verify (press F8 and check can you ping the FQDN of your management point) that you have network connectivity
around the time of the failure.

    Hi,
I am getting the below error in ccm.log file. Please let me know how to solve this
    HTTPPost(URL='http://PSS.abc.com/ccm_system/request'): Failed with code 0x8007000e.

"Storage" in this case means memory; aka, RAM. This typically means either the system you are targeting doesn't have enough or your TS is too big.
Also note that log files are about context; a single line from any arbitrary log file is meaningless without knowing what's going on around it.

  • OSD task fails with either 80072ee2 or 80072efe

    Hi.
This is driving me crazy! I'm ready for a holiday after this has been fixed!
I am trying to run a OSD to many computers, many models and in different locations (all from the same DP). About 99% fail with either the SendWinHttpRequest failed 80072ee2 (The operation timed out) or SendWinHttpRequest failed 80072efe (The connection
with the server was terminated abnormally) errors!
The task can fail at any stage - drive package download or software package download. Doesn't matter which one  - could be at the first step or the last step or somewhere in between! Could happen while in WINPE or even after the operating system has
    initialized.
    Happens on Windows 7 SP1 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64.
I have looked in the IIS logs and there is nothing outstanding.
I am at a loss here of what to do next. Of course this issue is happening while we have a over 200 new computer to get ready!
I am thinking its something network wise but not sure and networking isn't a strong point..
    Any ideas or suggestions?
Anyone know anyone/companies in Australia who could help me out?
Sort of need it working asap!
Just a thought, I do have a another DP at a another AD site separated by AD Boundary - I haven't tried that location out and I might do that.

And of course I have another outstanding issue with slowness of driver packages since after the hotfix for R2 has been installed, but that's another story - working with Microsoft on that one.

    G'day guys,
Apologies if I am covering old ground, but have you applied the post SCCM 2012 R2 hot fixes, mentioned in this SCCM TechNet blog by Russ Rimmerman?
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/54458340-e50d-4144-af0d-33c768861e97/osd-ts-fails-during-package-download-sendwinhttprequest-failed-80072ee2?forum=configmanagerosd
Russ mentions three hot fixes, two of which seem to apply to your predicament (look for details in the paragraph just before the screenshots in the article above). Those hotfixes are:
Slow OSD WIM downloads issue or WDS Service failures when enabling a boot image for PXE enabled Distribution Point:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2905002
Computer variables defined for imported computers are not being picked up during Task Sequence execution:
    http://support.microsoft.com/KB/2907591.
    Hope this helps,
    Marc

  • OSD to Surface fails to PXE Boot and returns PXEGetPXEData Failed with 0x80004005

Scenario: When trying to Image Windows 8.1 to a Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 I have downloaded the latest Surface Firmware and Drivers (August 18th 2014 I believe), the NIC's are in the x64 PXE Boot Image. I have verified that no DHCP Option
67 is set, and that SpanningTree PortFast is enabled. All other Images function correctly, Windows 7 Sp1 works. We use the Microsoft USB NIC, and we PXE boot and download the PXE Image fine, then it comes into windows and goes to detect the NIC, at which point
    it fails and reboots.
The Surface has had Firmware update on it to the latest.
It appears the NIC just stops working, which makes me think that the latest Driver pack for Surface does not contain the PXE boot versions for their NIC.
Trying the Docking Station (which utilizes NIC ASIX AX888772) exhibits the same problem.
The NIC stays active until the OSD Screen comes up, it fails trying to load the Surface NIC though (or the NICs in the Driver pack they just released do not include a PXE Boot Driver...the Drivers once imported do not show any as being Boot Critical...which
make me think this is the case even more so.
Doing a USB PXE Boot also fails to load the NIC.
Going to F8 and doing IPCONFIG /RENEW verifies the NIC is not active.
I see tons of postings on the Surface being a nightmare to image.
    Errors:
Failed to Download pxe variable file. Code (0x0000001)
    PXEGetPXEData Failed with 0x80004005
Anybody having any other experiences out there, or have anything else they could think to try?
    David Baur

(or the NICs in the Driver pack they just released do not include a PXE Boot Driver...the Drivers once imported do not show any as being Boot Critical...which make me think this is the case even more so.
There are no "PXE boot versions" of drivers at all. What you described just indicates that there is no driver in winpe that matches the hardware. WinPe is based on the respective version of the full os so you have to add Win8.x drivers to the boot image.
The architecture also has to match. Have you added NIC drivers to the boot image at all?
NIC drivers are never boot critical if I am not mistaken.

  • Post Upgrade to R2: Task Sequence Fails with 0x80070057

one SCCM 2012 server for a while now (June/July of 2013) and have had no issues with OSD's and software deployments.  Today I decided to upgrade to R2 from CU3 and I thought the upgrade process went really well.  But after the upgrade
I attempted to perform an OSD & it failed with error 0x80070057 before the Task Sequence selection.
I had that problem ages ago when I first started using SCCM, but that was due to a missing boundary group.  I got that straightened out in June/July of 2013 and, OSD's & software deployments have been working fine since.
All the boundary groups are still defined
All the boundaries are still defined
The specific boundary this machine is in has a site system defined
The specific boundary group this machine is in has both an assigned site as well as a site system server defined
Verified server has full control over System Management

I've had problems after the R2 upgrade and had to reinstall PXE/WDS on Distribution Point to resolve.

Regards Ajinkya Ghare MCITP-Server Administrator | MCTS

    Hi,
Try to put a machine disjoin the domain to see if the same issue occurs.
Sometimes the Windows 8 machines cannot use metro app once join the domain, you can try this method:
1- Open "Local Group Policy Editor"
2-Navigate to "Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Network Isolation"
3- Open "Internet Proxy Servers for Metro Style Apps" and set the value to your proxy server address like 172.16.0.1:8080.

IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfullyWhy i get those errors when importing? Seems like the main problem is that the export was done in Linux which have it's own directories like '/u01/app/oracle/oradat' and others but in my Windows OS those folders don't exist? The whole import fails because tablespaces couldn't be created, later Schemas couldn't be created and tables also. Can i get the import work somehow?
I runned the import as following:
    C:\Users\charlesr>imp userid=system/a FULL=Y FILE=exp_ddl.dmp log=imp.logMy Oracle 10 XE is installed into folder:
D:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0Maybe i should run the import command in drive D where my Oracle lives, not in drive C as i did?
And now when i tried to run the import on drive C, seems like my database user "system/a" is corrupted or password corrupted:
    C:\Users\charlesr>d:
    D:\>imp userid=system/a FULL=Y FILE=exp_ddl.dmp log=imp.log

You could use import option show=y to capture import run statements and find CREATE TABLESPACE statements. Keep in mind your target database already has undo, temp system, etc. tablespaces so you do not need to precreate them. Then rerun import.

  • USMT Errors - Request to SMP failed with error 0x80004005

The client I am at we are working on using USMT integrated with their OSD task sequence.  Yesterday we setup a State Migration Point on the DP that is located at this office. We ran a task sequence for testing purposes that just basically does the Scan
State.  The few machines we tested this task sequence on successfully completed the task.
This morning we have tried some more testing and now the task doesn't work.  The job fails at the point where it is requesting user store space.  The log files shows that it knows about the SMP and that it request access but it fails and continues
on trying to find another available SMP.
The first few attempts the errors are based on "Failed to connect to
    \\SERVER.DOMAIN\SMPSTORED_241ADE445 (53)
"Cannot connect to http://SERVER.DOMAIN SMP root share"
"Request to SMP 'http://SERVER.DOMAIN' failed with error (Code 0x80004005)  Trying next SMP.
"SMP request to 'http://server.domain" failed with error:  E_SMPERROR_ENCRYPTKEY_EMPTY (103)
    "ClientKeyRequestToSMP failed (0x80004005)
We have removed the SMP and have re-added it.

  • Please help !!! After installing 3.1.1 restore failing with error code 2002

    Hi All,
I bought my ipod touch 8GB and received on 24th Sep 2009. On the same day at around 18:30, I downloaded itunes in my laptop (IBM ThinkPad - Win XP OS).
Everything was fine, I did sync my ipod with itunes. After an hour or so, I got a popup in my itunes to download a latest software update which was OS 3.1.1, I guess. I downloaded that and it took almost 80 minutes. Then I connected my ipod to the laptop, itunes throwed an alert saying
"itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with iTunes."
But restore is failing with restore error code 2002. I tried 44 times with all the guidelines mentioned in Apple support site. Restarted ipod, laptop, complete uninstall of itunes and every software, reinstalled itunes and everything, switch between different USB ports and tried everything but nothing worked. The ipod always shows the connect to itunes symbol and nothing else. Alas!! I am writing this. It is seriously very discouraging for the apple product users. I had high hopes with apple’s products. I could not use my new ipod even for an hour.
Please help. The below log is being created after every failure.
I know the below log can help the software guys in finding the issue

THe network access account is needed for accessing network resources during the task sequence or software distribution.  During OSD, there may not be a computer account yet for the system to use to access the content.  You need to set the NAA.

  • Incomplete Client Install OSD - Failed to create instance if Software Execution Request Managerr. 0x80070005

I am using an imaging task sequence and getting a
0x80070005 error.  IT seems that the SCCM client
doesn’t complete correctly and actions are missing from the client.
Below is the log information.  I am not sure if a reboot is causing the issue?

  • Jabber call to voice mail fails with fast busy over VPN

I have an issue that I ran into with CIPC phones over a VPN.  If a CIPC phone called over a VPN and started ringing a phone the call would fail with fast busy at the time the call would be forwarded to voicemail.  I found the issue was when remote the CIPC phone would negotiate the g.729 codec, when forwarded to a voicemail pilot over a SIP trunk set to g.711 the call would fail due to codec missmatch when no transcoders are present.
So now I am running into what I believe to be the same issue with Jabber, when on premise the calls to voice mail work just fine, but when remote they fail.  I can directly call the voicemail pilot without error, but if calling a phone the call gets fast busy at the point we are forwarded to voicemail.  Even though all my regions are set to talk to all other regions on G.711 and the voicemail SIP trunk is set to G.711, I believe with the new features in CUCM9 that a lower speed codec has been negotiated since the we are going over the VPN, or Jabber has done this as it knows it's over VPN (not sure).  WIth CIPC I could go into the settings and turn off the Optimize for Bandwidth check box and the call would negotiate G.711.  With Jabber I can't find anything that would tell my Jabber client to stay on G.711 and I can only imagine this is a codec missmatch as the following are true.
    1. CIPC and Jabber share the same line
    2. VPN established and CIPC optimised for low bandwidth un-checked
    3. Over the same VPN the CIPC phone can leave a voicemail
    4. Over the same VPN the Jabber client gets fast busy once forwarded to voicemail
    5. Voicemail environment is Exchange-UM over SIP trunk
    6. SIP trunk is assigned a Device Pool, that is assigned to a region that all other regions communicate G.711 to
    7. On CIPC if optimised for low bandwidth is checked I get the exact same issue as I get with the Jabber client (fast busy when forwarded to voicemail)
Would anyone know what I can do in CUCM 9 to fix this issue, as said no issue when all devices are on premise.  Wondering if there is a service parameter or a way to change the codec selection so the Jabber client attempts to always negotiate G.711.  The correct answer would be to get some PVDM DSP resources and kick up a transcoder in my resource group, and that may be what I talk them into doing if I have no other options.

We have been getting the exact same thing for almost a year now... since switching to FiOS Digital Voice in May of last year!  Every time I call in to report it they 'escalate' the issue but it never gets resolved.  The problem seems to be in the initial connection.  Most of the time it works fine but, several times a month, after I call to get messages and it starts to play the new message it goes dead and I get the busy signal.  I get the same message when I call back:  “I’m sorry – that account is in use at this time.  Please try again later!”  I have even called in with my cell phone and get the same message!  I HAVE EVEN used the Internet to see if I could get my messages and, when I hit Play, I get a pop-up saying: “Your Voice Mail box is currently in being accessed; please try again later.  If the problem continues, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-553-1555. We apologize for any inconvenience.”  This is obviously a software bug that Verizon has no clue on how to troubleshoot OR fix!!!  I wonder how many people have the problem and just don’t bother reporting it because of the hassle?  When it first started happening they destroyed my entire mailbox and I had to re-enter the complete mailbox setup again – 3 times!!!  NEVER let them talk you into that!!!  It’s their problem and they need to fix it!!!!!!!  I wish I could go back to the ‘normal’ voicemail we originally had… they want hundred$ to switch back because I’d be breaking my #$@%^&* contract!  Good luck if you have Verizon………

  • HT1212 I am unable to get our of a continuous cycle when trying to update or restore my iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.

When I tried to update my iPad I got an error 9. Now, I am unable to access my iPad. It is in a continuous cycle when I try to update or restore the iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.
    Here's the cycle:
I plug in my iPad when “cable to iTunes shows on iPad screen. It says "Your iPad can't be updated, you must restore it to factory settings." That bad enough news, but it gets worse.
    Click Restore
    Extracting software…
    Preparing iPad for restore
    Waiting for iPad…
    Verifying iPad restore with Apple…
(empty bar under the Apple logo…does not show any activity)
“The iPad “iPad” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).”
Notes: I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) in the last week. It’s the first time I’m tried to backup/update my iPad since the iMac update.
I swapped out the USB cable to a new cable and get the same results.
I also unplugged all other USB devices from the iMac and security on my iPad and still get the same results.
I find it strange that it shows no Serial number for my my iPad 2 when plugged in. It shows “Serial Number: n/a on the screen when it displays: “iPad Recovery Mode To update your iPad without erasing its contents, click Update. To restore your iPad to its factory settings, click Restore iPad.
I prefer to update my iPad, but it displays “Your iPad can’t be updated, you must restore it to factory settings. If you previously backed up the iPad, click Restore Backup after the restore process completes.”
It’s a continuous loop. I get the display on my iPad to plug in the iPad to iTunes, plug it in which ends after going through the above procedure saying an error occurred (9).
So now I cannot use my iPad. When I turn it on I get the display showing me to plug it into iTunes with the cable. Since this is the only option I have I plug it in and the loop begins.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello jaybearden,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore the iOS device since you get an error 9. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
