OSD Task Sequence Fails with Error 0x80091007

Hello Everyone,
I have a bit of a weird hash mismatch problem.  The issue is only occuring on one laptop.  The laptop was imaged successfully, new out of the box.  Computer started "acting craptacular" according to the tech, so he tried to reimage it,
assuming one of the applications he put on the computer while setting it up for the user may have messed it up.
From that point forward, the computer couldn't image anymore.  I can image the same model, TS, and even other models without issue.  The error logs are pointing to a hash value mismatch on the OS WIM.
Here are the log files - I wish there was a way to make them cleaner.  I ran some hardware tests with IBM's PCDoctor, and it came back clean.  I'm starting to run out of ideas.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys,
My WIM is currently sitting at 1.8 GB, so I'm not sure it is the 4 GB bug you were referring to.
I haven't tried a re-import/update DP yet mainly because the problem is occuring on only
one computer at this moment.  In fact, I have deployed several computers already with the same DP, same WIM and even the same model of computer.  That makes me think it isn't an issue with the WIM as
much as it is an issue with the computer itself.
Can you guys think of anything on the computer that would cause the failure?
Thanks again,
Sean

I am facing issue in OS deployment my machine PXE boot successfully but on the step of apply operating I got an error "task sequence failed with error code 0x80070002"
I see lot of thread describes to add Network Access Account I already added but still I receive same error please help
    Usama Arif

i had this happen on two of my dp's the other day.  It drove me nuts,  I ended up  removing the DP Role,  removing the server from SCCM
I then deleted all files on the  'D :'  drive
after everything was deleted, I re-added the  Server to SCCM and gave it the DP Role back.
I then added the DP Back to the  DP Group to receive all packages that was on it before.    then finally once everything was re-uploaded my users were able to pxe boot again

  • OSD Task Sequence fails with "There are no task sequences available for this computer"

Let me preface this by saying that I have read at least 100 forum posts with people having similar issues. However, none of the solutions in those
    posts have worked for me.
The Problem: SCCM 2012 R2 will not image unknown computers.
The task sequence gives the error "There are no task sequences available for this computer." As soon as that error occurs, SCCM places an Unknown entry into the All Systems collection. I have been imaging unknown computers, without fail, for
4 months and no environmental changes have been made. NOTE: I am using USB media, not PXE.
    What I've Tried:
Checked for duplicate SMSBIOS GUIDS in the console, none.
Checked for duplicate MAC Addresses in the console, none.
    Checked for expired certificates, none.
    Recreated Boot Media, twice.
Deleted the Unknown entry and retried, SCCM just recreates the Unknown entry.
Deleted all of my task sequence deployments, and then redeployed them each to All Systems (Only Boot Media and PXE) and to Unknown Systems (Only Boot Media and PXE)
    I have also ran the following in the SQL Server Management Studio;
    SELECT
    * FROM
    ResPolicyMap WHERE
    machineid = 0 and
    PADBID IN
    (SELECT
    PADBID FROM PolicyAssignment
    WHERE BodyHash
    IS NULL)
    No result
    Select
    * From
    vMacAddresses Where
    MacAddresses = '00:00:00:00:00:00'
This displays an entry for every time that I have tried to image the unknown machine attached to the MAC Address with a different ItemKey and SMS_Unique_Identifier for each entry.
Added the machine manually using Import Computer Information, immediately recognized the Task Sequences that I have advertised to the All Systems collection.
    Any and all assistance is welcome, I am going on the third straight day of dead ends. Below I have tried my best to post the entire SMSTS Log;

  • SCCM 2012 OSD Task Sequence Fails "An error occurred while retrieving policy for this computer"

We have SCCM 2012 R2. I amm trying to start OSD task sequence from bootable media.
Hyper-v client gets DHCP ip and starts MDT bootable media, but could not find policy.
    From F8 I can ping SCCM/DP/MP server.
    What could be the cause?

Yes, this DHCP client is in the same subnet as other working clients.

  • OSD Task Sequence fails to install SCCM client

    Hello,
Our OSD task sequence fails to install the SCCM client with certain images.
The TS gets to the "Setup Windows and Configuration" step, during which it downloads all the necessary SCCM client files (silverlight, C++ redistributable, client.msi....etc.). At this point computer restarts and in never loads back into the
task sequence, instead it enters the minisetup (setup is starting services, setup is installing devices, setup is applying system settings...preparing computer for first use), after which the computer restarts and you are back at the CTR+ALT+Del screen.
The computer has joined the domain and has run all other steps but it has failed to install SCCM client. I can also see the leftovers of an incomplete TS under c:\_SMSTaskSequence
If we change the image specified under "Apply Operating System" step, everything works ok.
It appears there is something wrong with this particular image. Any ideas?
Logs show no errors. Let me know which logs you'd like me to post (and from which location)
There is no ccm folder under c:\windows

Hoping you are using ConfigMgr 2012 R2. If a client machine Join to Domain and doesn't proceed with other steps and not installing the CCM client, then problem seems to be with the Image.Do you have any RunOnce registry setting specified in the Image? You
can mount the Image and check those settings.
    RunOnce Key Reference :
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa376977(v=vs.85).aspx
If the above key is present in the Image, TS Engine won't resume after the reboot.
You need to use a new variable "SMSTSPostAction" at the end of the Task Sequence, to add your custom actions.
The above variable is applicable in CM 2012 SP1 and R2.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 "Task invocation failed with error code -2146232576"

    Hi,
I`m trying to discover a Linux RHEL 5.9 Server which is in another untrusted domain and from the Discovery wizard I receive the following error:
Task invocation failed with error code -2146232576. Error message was 0x80131700.
    Any ideas ?
    Greetings.

    Hi,
@Simon, I restart the SCOM services and I also verify the UAC and it's disabled.
@Mai Ali, thank you for you reply. I don't have a "&" symbol in my password, but only a "$" ..I hope it's fine.
If the SCOM discovery doesn't work, I installed the agent manually on the Linux server.
BTW I also use a "monuser" account configured using this procedure:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7375.configuring-sudo-elevation-for-unix-and-linux-monitoring-with-system-center-2012-operations-manager.aspx
I also verify the ports 22 and 5723 and are opened, but I also noticed that if you restart the scxadmin, is listening on HTTPS on port 1207.
Now..if I try to re-discover the Linux server from SCOM, I receive the following error:
"The pool managing the instance is not available or the location monitoring object cannot be found"
    Regards.

  • New DP on winsrv2012r2 - TS failing with error 0x80091007

    Hi All,
I need your advice about a really weird issue. We replaced a 2008r2 file server which was also a DP in one of our remote sites it was working well. The new server is on 2012r2 and I reinstalled the DP on it. I need to precise that all of them are are
hosted on VMware 5.1 (esxi-vsphere). I distributed all the needed packages on this newly created dp and tried to setup a vm to test the task sequence and I noted that the win download was very very quick (3-4mins for a quite big wim
file 24gb). in my tests all attempts failed at the end of TS when applying system image with the error code 0x80091007.  I need to precise that I choose the E1000 Nic in VMware and 4gb of memory so normally there should not be any issue. I tried also
with a vmxnet3 nic but it wasn't detected at the beginning of TS even if my boot image contains the VMware drivers ..(that's one of the weird point) . But the weirdest point is that I asked one of my colleague to give it a try and at his first attempt he was
successful using exactly the same vm I tried to setup ... but all is other attempts failed afterwards.  Do you know what could be the cause ?  Could it be linked to the fact that the dp was setup on 2012r2 when the primary site and all others sccm
servers are on 2008r2. Also our forest functional level is still on 2003 so am wondering if that could be the explanation.
Here are all the logs (failed and success one ) which were all from the same dp on 2012r2:http://www27.zippyshare.com/v/83975219/file.html
So after trying all ideas (Redistributing the images on the dp.. validating them... even recreated the dp completely I decided to setup a dedicated server on 2008r2 and it worked at first imaging attempt but I would like to understand what was the cause
if possible that's why I would like to get your advice on that. thx in advance. best regards.

    Hi,
There error translates to "The hash value is not correct."
Have you seen this post on the topic.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/77783490-82a9-4dd1-9ea8-ca11c37f3ee6/sccm-2012-osd-task-sequence-error-0x80091007?forum=configmanagerosd
Solving the vmxnet3 nic sounds like a neeeded solition.

  • Post Upgrade to R2: Task Sequence Fails with 0x80070057

one SCCM 2012 server for a while now (June/July of 2013) and have had no issues with OSD's and software deployments.  Today I decided to upgrade to R2 from CU3 and I thought the upgrade process went really well.  But after the upgrade
I attempted to perform an OSD & it failed with error 0x80070057 before the Task Sequence selection.
I had that problem ages ago when I first started using SCCM, but that was due to a missing boundary group.  I got that straightened out in June/July of 2013 and, OSD's & software deployments have been working fine since.
All the boundary groups are still defined
All the boundaries are still defined

The specific boundary group this machine is in has both an assigned site as well as a site system server defined

Could this be an IIS problem?

I've had problems after the R2 upgrade and had to reinstall PXE/WDS on Distribution Point to resolve.
Also ensure that you apply this hotfix after R2:

  • PXE OSD Task Sequence fails to run on new laptop

We are trying to run a working PXE OSD task sequence on a new HP laptop.  It's a Elitebook 840 G2.  We've downloaded the provided driver package & created a new driver package in SCCM.  We inserted the driver into the boot image &
updated the DPs.  When we PXE boot the laptop it flashes the splash screen & reboots.  Other laptops & desktops boot properly.  This looks like a driver issue but we wanted to run it past the forum to see if anyone had any other suggestions.
The SMSTS log file is copied below.

  • OSD Task sequences failed in application installation step.

    Hello,
I am deploying win 7 with installing app-v client application(by package), I applied this Task sequences on some of devices sometimes it worked and installed app-v client application but in some cases
Task sequences failed to installed app-v client steps.
Please provide reason for this and how to resolve this.

Certain pre-requisites need to be installed for the App-V client to successfully install.
    Take a look here http://sccmentor.wordpress.com/2013/05/21/deploy-the-app-v-5-0-client-with-sccm-2012/
Note that KB2533623 has been superseeded if you are pushing out any Windows Updates as part of your OSD.
    http://sccmentor.wordpress.com/2013/07/30/kb2533623-superseded-by-kb2758857/
Have these pre-reqs been applied in the Task Sequence prior to the App-V client install? If not add them in and try the push again.
    Cheers

  • Win 7 x64 OSD Task Sequence BSOD with SSD

    Hello,
I have recently rebuilt my OSD Task Sequences into ConfigMgr 2012 R2 and consistently experiencing BSODs on machines with SSDs after the machine boots after the "Setup and Windows ConfigMgr" step.  When the machine reboots and starts Windows
Setup, it Blue Screens immediatley after attempting to Update System Registry with the Stop Code 0x000000f4
To validate the health of the SSDs, I am able to successfully build the same machines using bootable media from the (still standing) 2007 environment.  Also, replacing the SSD with a standard HDD builds the machine successfully which makes me question
my driver packages less than when I first saw this.  I am unable to see any steps in the Task Sequence that appear different between the 2 environments.
I have captured the logs from WinPE as well as the system drive before the crashes have occured - can anyone suggest where I should be looking to help flush out why this is occuring?  For what it's worth, the drives are Crucial m4 SSD 2.5 128GB SATA
6Gb/s with the most current firmware.
    Thanks
    Scott

Here is a quick update as I continue to struggle with the same issue on a few different models in our environment.
I have made attempts with multiple different combinations of drivers in packages and continue to see BSODs when the TS reboots after configuring the ConfigMgr client.  I have deployed the captured Win 7 image using a basic Task Sequence and have also
brought the Win 7 image from the 2007 environment into 2012 and replaced it in the MDT Task Sequence and the results are all the same.
Given that I can build machines using a Task Sequence with SCCM 2007 but not with ConfigMgr 2012 R2 points at this being a Task Sequence and\or Driver issue.  I am appreciative of any suggestions or ideas.
    Thanks
    Scott

  • SCCM 2012 Export Task Sequence fails with generic error message

We have a complex task sequence comprising of more than 50 applications\packages, 1975 drivers, 18 driver packages etc etc. Its long, it's big and it will not export with it's content.
We have several environments for development test and live. I am attempting to export the primary task sequence with all it's dependencies from live so that I can port it over to a new development environment.
I can export the zip file without content and it comes to 92Mb in size. The entire task sequence software set is 50Gb+. When I attempt to export with all dependencies and content the process gets about 60% of the way through and fails with the error
"Error: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"
Googling the error roughly defines the problem as 'the export process cannot access the defined source path for one of the dependant items'
I wrote a PowerShell script that looks as every application, package, driver, driver package, boot image, os image and software update package in the entire SCCM software library and verifies that each and every package has a valid UNC source directory
that can be reached using test-path.
I also wrote another tool that parsed the entire source software library on the server looking for permissions errors (permissions on the structure set at a directory level rather than inherited), directories that were too long, inaccessible or otherwise
    blocked, nothing was found.
It will take a very long time to go through and check each and every dependency by hand - time I do not have at present.
I looked in the TaskSequenceProvider.log as that is supposed to contain messages from the export process and found the messages in there far too high a level to use

Is there any way of increasing the log verbosity? I need to see what item is causing the export to fail.
Is there another log containing the information about the export & what it is doing?
All out builds that use the task sequence complete successfully, we can edit the sequence fine, make changes etc. so no internal corruption we can find.
    Any ideas?

Torsten, smsprov.log did indeed prove useful, I could see every package as it was validated. Unfortunately the log was wrapping about every 4 minutes and it takes 3+ hours for the task sequence to reach the fail point so I still cannot see the offending
package as it wraps before I can get to the log.
I will increase the size of the log and see if I can maintain some details to investigate.
There was nothing of note in the event logs, certainly nothing leading me to suspect that WMI might be reaching its limits.
I will keep looking for the cause and will post here when I find it <= positive thinking :)

  • XP to Win7 Upgrade Task Sequence failing with the error 0x800700C1 (Already applied the Hot Fix KB 2910552)

    Hi all
I'm having the same error that is described in this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2910552/en-us
So i have applied this hot-fix to the SCCM 2012 server and update the distribution points of all boot images. and also i have deployed the hot-fix client package to my XP machines. client's Task Sequence component is now updated to 5.00.7958.1104.
Still i'm getting the same error in SMSTS.log
    Please help me on this.

Which boot image are you using? It has to match the architecture (x86 / x64) of XP if I am not mistaken.

Try to remove the "Apply Data Image 1" step from your TS.
The 1-1 partition is used for boot files and recovery info, and is created by default. The second (2-2)
partition is the one used for the Windows 7 installation.
