[OSX 10.7] loosing bonjour connection Officejet Pro 6500

I have an Officejet Pro 6500 and can't get the printer to work flawlessly.
This is the problem:
After installed the printer successfully everything works fine, but after a few minutes (mostly around 10 - 15 minutes). OSX cannot find the printer anymore trough bonjour.
The only solution is to shutdown the printer and putting it back on. But when it's on for a while, the connection is lost again.
What did I try without any luck:
Changed the Wifi channel to a more clean channel for a more stable connection.
I gave the printer a static IP, added the printer by IP instead of bonjour, no problem anymore, but then scan to pc is not working when the bonjour connection is lost, so this is not an option!
I removed the printer completely from OSX and reinstalled everything
All firmware / drivers are the most recent
Tried with a network cable in the router instead of using Wifi
What did I discover:
I ran a ping to the ip address of the printer, and noticed the connection wasn't very stable (even when the printer is allmost on top of the router)
When the connection to the printer is lost for a second or two (due to wifi dropping the connection) I notice the OSX can't find the printer anymore through bonjour, I cannot open the webpage of the printer also (http://HPxxxxx.local.) but I still can open the webppage trough IP (http://192.168.x.x) when shutting down the printer and putting it on again, I can connect to the bonjour address again and OSX can find the printer again.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem or is it the crappy bonjour support of this printer ?
Is it possible the problem points to the wifi router/modem ? I allready bought a new router and will test this tommorow.
Please let me know if anyone had this problem and how it was fixed.
Thanks!

I'm having the same problem-- but also with an Epson printer, so I'm thinking it's probably interference. That's what I'm hearing from other sources. In my case, if I turn off the wireless extender I'm connected to, the printer connections are found again. Otherwise, if anyone has any ideas, I sure would appreciate it.

  • Officejet pro 6500 no longer prints color

My Officejet Pro 6500 (A909) will no longer print in color.  I've done all the basic checks - print cartridges full, clean/align print heads, etc. to no avail.   I've restarted the device as well.  The all-in-one is less than a year old and did print color documents initially.  But now, it will on print in black and white.  I'm using the same computers as before when it would print in color.  What could be causing this and how to fix it?   Thanks

  • Printing from wireless laptop to ethernet connected Officejet pro 8500 A909a

I have an officejet pro 8500 A900a and a Linksys WRT54G router and I've been having difficulty printing from my laptop via WiFi. I used to be able to print regularly and I think HP sent me an update to some software that has since stopped that from happening. I have the IP and mask for the printer set manually asto never change and set the default gateway to the correct setting for my router.  I can ping the device and I can access the printer admin pages from my laptop using the ip address. I can even print reports and run diagnostics from the HTTP connection but no printing from Word or ANY other source.  The printer does print from another desktop that has a USB connection to the printer but the connection is not always plugged in.  What do I do?

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not print but is connected and says that the print job is 100% Complete

    Hi All,
I'm printing from a MacBook Pro using OSX Lion. It says that Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is connected and that the print jop is
100% complete except that nothing comes out of the printer. I've done all of the test prints and they've printed just fine.
I tired all of the troubleshooting steps listed on the support guide and still nothing. HELP!

Not a reply but another plea for help.
There seem to be so many people with wireless problems that a) it seems silly to start a new thread and b) which one to enter my own plea.
-Printer bought about 2~3 weeks into Sept 2012
-Installed onto Macbook Pro running Lion (full updated at that time)
-Both wireless scanning from printer to computer and initiated from computer worked fine.
-Printer, with full choice of duplex, layout etc, worked fine. (Even left 5star feedback somewhere!)
-Set up eprint. That OK, too. Fine from iPad2 and SE Arc S printing photos.
-Somewhere along the line it stopped communicating with my MBP
-Out of interest, since there seemed to be no problems with an Acer laptop running Vista, I booted the MBP from an external drive on which I'd done a backup of my 10.6 system iMac (>300Km away: can't try that). Installed HP software from disc. Seemed fully functional. Odd. Very odd.
-Restarting with Lion on MBP, tried again. Looks as if it might work, but loses connectivity. Tried manual address on printer.
-Booting from 10.6 system again, reinstalled Lion on MBP (wondering if conflict between HP and Apple updates)
    -Reinstalled HP software from disc.
    Still didn't work.
-Brought Lion up to date. Downloaded most recent dmg file from HP. Looked for updates. Have applied firmware update to printer
8600 doesn't list my MBP as available computer to scan to
[But all the test pages done whilst in HP Utility, and others, get sent through]
Am getting rather fed-up with all this; never, ever before have I had so much printer problem.
There seem to be a number of Lion users out there with the same problem. So far -but very infrequently tried- other machines/systems seem OK, therefore I am coming to the conclusion that it is an Apple<> HP conflict. If not sorted soon the printer will be returned as it is not fit for purpose. I'll revert to using my seldom problematic, non duplex A3 Brother.
    Hrumph
Please help, someone! Either with a pointer to something I've not yet tried or by analysis and rapid availablity of updated software.
    Thanks,
    Mike W

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g can't scan to network folder

Since upgrading to 10.7 Lion, I have not been able to scan to a network folder on my mac.
Have downloaded the latest driver from HP, and reinstalled the driver etc, but to no avail?
    Any thoughts?

    Latest news:
there's a firmware update for HP OfficeJet Pro 6500 Wireless (A909g) which is compatible with the new SMBX protocol! This re-enables scan to folder capabilities in OSX 10.8 & later!
You CANNOT find this update under Mac OSX menu on the HP support page but only under Windows, and need to update the firmware via a Windows system (or a VMware machine).
    After that, it works again!

  • Unable to Communicate with Printer Error - Officejet Pro 8600

My printer was working fine last week... printing from my Mac desktop via wireless.
Now, when I try to print, the progress window is just hanging... trying to find the printer.
I deleted the printer in my settings and tried to reinstall. Now, I am getting an error message that says: Unable to Communicate with the Printer at this Time.
    Help, please!
    Comuputer: Mac OSX Version 10.9.3
Printer: Officejet Pro 8600 Plus... only about 3 months old!

Hello K_D123, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having wireless issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would recommend powering off your computer and printer.  Once they are both off, I would unplug the power from the back of your wireless router, wait 60 seconds and plug it back in.  After the router has begun broadcasting, power on the printer and computer.
I would also recommend following the steps in this document on Wireless printing center Troubleshooting Issues.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Officejet pro 6830 & windows home server 2011

Our Officejet Pro 6500 just died, and I replaced it with an Officejet Pro 6830.  The printer is connected to our server, which runs Windows Home Server 2011.  While installing I learned there is not a driver for Home Server 2011?  I also discovered that my wife cannot print wirelessly because the printer is hardwired to the network.  Really?  Everything worked with the printed that died.  These two issues are pretty major for us.  Are there workarounds?

Your Win8 PC is likely to have come with UEFI and uses GPT hard disks, so you need to install a hotfix on the server to allow it to back up the client PCs.
There’s a separate fix for each server version:
    SBS 2011 Essentials
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2781270
    Windows Storage Server 2008R2 Essentials
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2781274
    Windows Home Server 2011
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2781272
Install the hotfix, reboot the server, and you should be able to back up the PC, although in my experience, you also need to exclude any partitions on the PC that don't have drive letters.

  • How to set wireless security for Officejet Pro L7750 printer?

    Hi there.
I connected Officejet Pro L7750 to wireless broadband router and all is well. Only problem is that all computers on the network can install the drivers and connect to the printer. How do I limit the printing capabilities only to 2 computers so the rest of the network won't be able to print to this printer?

Quite a few questions there, Sends, but I will do what I can to answer them.
I would first recommend buying a router, even if it is one that you won't connect to the internet and network this with your other PCs and the printer. This will give you the best functionality and results for what you are attempting to do.
Additionally, the Auto Off feature of the printer can be disabled, and is not affected by the connection type. You can usually go through the Setup Menu and select Tools to change the options there on the energy saving features.
Lastly, the auto off feature on your computer is a Windows question, but an easy one to answer. If you are on a laptop you can right-click on the battery in the service tray (bottom right hand corner) and change the energy conservation settings.
You might be better off installing the printer through the USB cord and alternating that based on when you are using it, but that would be optimal only if you are printing only a few documents on an irregular basis. A networked connection is the easiest to manage over several computers, honesty, but you do have some requirements for that connection and limitations as well.
I hope this information is useful!

  • Maverick incompatible with Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

Maverick update for OSX 10.9 is incompatible with Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
    1. PDF files from webpages are black and don't show info when I try to print from any browser.  Must take snapshots from webpage and print from that
2.Printer info shows that it is still printing when it is completed and will not advance to the next job
Please help!  I see that there are no HP software updates to fix this and am confused why you haven't made your printer software compatible with a huge Mac update.

    Hi podisc,
Thank you for the quick response.  It's good to hear you can print,  that is at least a start.
I know that you haven't received the error messages that the document lists but the behavior you are describing leads me to believe that software didn't completely uninstall or completely install with the Mavericks driver.
Please follow the steps listed in the document below and let me know how it goes.

  • Officejet pro 8500 a909n Unable to locate - The printer is not connected

Something, unknown to me, must have recently changed with my printer and or my iMac and MacBook Pro.  I was suddenly unable to print.  When I attempt to print I get this icon on the dock:
I then click on the icon and this is the window that is displayed:
I completed a #6 restart and restarted the computers.  I had no problem establishing a connection with the router, which is a Time Capsule.  On the OSX Printers and Scanners Page I initially had a green light, but after attempting to print the light changes to amber and states "in use Last Used".  If I turn off the wireless radio, I can connect using USB, but prefer to use wifi.  However, after I walk away from the computer for awhile and then come back to print I get the same message.
Is there something I can do to fix this.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 will NOT print on MAC OSX 10.7.5

    I'm using Mac OSX 10.7.5
New Officejet Pro 8600 is set-up and wireless is connected with Bonjour.  When printing the printer utility opens and shows me that the printer is connecting.  For example: "Printing Microsoft Word - Document 1".  Printing page is shown as "100% complete". However, nothing prints.
I am able to print the 'Print Self Test Page' but nothing else (ie. word documents). I have the printer setup on an HP Laptop and it is working just fine over the network.
I have tried every solution under the following link and nothing worked:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02205477

HI, I also had this same issue and finally worked out a solution.
Just to summarise: I had two Macbooks 10.7.4, iPhone, iPad, airport express and netgear evg2000 router. They all worked wirelessly one minute then stopped. I could wirelessly connect to the printer, print test pages, view the queue, view supplies but any print would appear in the queue as 100% complete or 1% or 12% but never actually print out.
I logged in to the embedded web server (ews) on the printer, went to network, advanced settings-bonjour and changed the Bonjour Highest Priority Service to '9100 printing' instead of 'LDP'. I then deleted the printer from the print function in system prefs, re added it and it worked. I had to turn the iPhone and iPad off and on and they worked.

  • HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP Wireless Connection Lost

    Setup
HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP (hereafter MFP) connected wirelessly to Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS).  Two MacBook Pros (MBP) also connected wirelessly to AEBS.  MFP has been assigned a fixed IP address which has been removed from the AEBS's DHCP range.
    Problem
Sometimes (but not always) when attempting to print while the MFP is sleeping (but blue wireless light is still on) MFP is not visible to the Macs and therefore they cannot print to it.  The HP Utility also fails to find the printer, displaying only the information that seems to be stored in Bonjour.  Once, after an attempt to print resulted in the printer not being found, I tried to turn the MFP off.  Until I canceled the print operation it wouldn't turn off.
I used to have an HP Officejet 6500 with wireless and can recall neither having to assign it a fixed IP address nor experiencing these problems.
Any thoughts?  Do I have a problem that Bonjour and IP are both on?  Is the MFP failing to respond to a wakeup signal from the AEBS?

  • OfficeJet Pro K8600 looses communication -will not print

This is our main printer in the design area at work and I really need this to work!!  Any help appreciated.
Vista SP2 Dell Pavilion Intel Quad 2.33ghz 64bit OS 8gb RAM OfficeJet Pro K8600 on USB cable to main ports
I loose the connection and have to reboot the computer to get it to print again.
It prints fine for several hours or a day or so, then suddenly will freeze part way through printing, or simply will not print at all. In Printer preferences I click on services - Ink levels tab - "computer unable to establish 2 way communication"
Removing the USB and reattaching does not help, nor does changing the USB port used.
Disconnected unit, rebooted, deleted printer icon, uninstalled printer drivers, rebooted, did full install using the HP CD and I still have the same problem after printing for awhile.
HP Diagnostic utility does not detect any problems when printer is not working or when it is working.

Did you install the two HP updates slp_dd_hati_110_107.exe and ConvergedIO_HPCOM_V3.exe?

  • Connecting form MAC OS 10.7.5 to HP officejet pro 8620

I am running MAC OS 10.7.5.
Have just bought HP officejet pro 8620
After initial setup wireless printing worked but then stopped and now when I try to print the computer cannot find the printer.
I have reinstalled the soft ware - both printer and computer are showing full wireless connection.
Also tried plugging in direct wire connection and still does not find the printer!!
    Help please

    Hello,
From the post i understand that when you install the printer it doesnt find the printer.
Could you please provide me with more details like when it stopped printing did the printer encounter sleep mode issue.
Whats the model no of the router.
When you try to add the printer to the print and scan is it identifying the printer as Bonjour Multifunction.
    Try the below steps.
    1- Restore network default.
2- Check if the printer name is listed under in Print and Scan under System Preferences. If Yes
3- Press the Control Button or Right click and click on the Printer icon " Reset the Printing system" this will remove all the printer in the queue.
Run the wireless setup wizard and see if you can find the router and get connected
Go to System Preferences, click on the + symbol on the Print and Scan window see if it identifies the printer.
If fails lets try using wireless direct.
Click on the wireless Direct icon and enable wireless direct, its present left side to the Wireless icon on front panel.
Click on the Wireless icon on the Mac select the Printer Name.
Now go to Print and Scan window and see if you can add the printer.
    Thanks..

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus Connection Issues

My boss stricly uses his iPad and has the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for wireless printing. However, he's been having major problems printing.  The iPad appears to see the printer on AirPrint, but nothing is getting printed. We've tried connecting the printer directly to our network, and it still won't print. We even got a new wireless router (Linksys E900 Wirless-N300 Router) but that has not seemed to help with the issue. I previously had the officejet 8500 and had multiple problems with it connecting wireless, to the point we just got rid of it. Are there any workarounds other than getting a new printer?

    Hi,
Airprint uses Apple's Bonjour which relies on Multicasting.
From my experience, Linksys routers do not have Multicast enabled by their default configuration.
Try modifying the router configuration by entering the router homepage (Its address should be the same as the Default Gateway listed on the printer once clicking the network icon.
From the router config click Security.
Check the checkbox next to Filter Multicast and Save the settings.
Reboot the router and check for any change.
If the issue persists I would also recommend checing for any firmware update to your router, those can improve Multicast traffic handaling in many cases..
    Hope that helps,
    Shlomi
