OSx Compatible graphing software?

I am looking for graphing software that would work on Mac OS X 10.5.8. Any one has experience with Chartsmith, a software that is available on pure-mac.com? Thanks

I don't know Chartsmith, but the two that are usually recommended are DeltaGraph and Excel.

You have tried the built in image capture.app
If that can't find your scanner, you'll need to try Cannon

  • G4/OSX.39 INFURIATION- Software Restrictions!

I am denied Final Cut 4.x. I cannot upgrade Safari. I can NOT use Pro Tools 6.4 on OSX.4!
Software restrictions! I do not understand why I should not be able to install Pro Tools 6.4, which is not really that old, into OSX.4
Windows tried to do that to me... Denying the wise installer permission to install Sonar 2.x into XP, which works under under Windows 2000. The installer is blocked out! Because the direct x was version 8.something... And Windows XP had a higher DirectX version... Version 9.x
Well, All I did was install everything I wanted into Windows 2000 and upgraded it to XP- And then it worked, and installed the rest of the programs into XP. Later... cakewalk built a FIX on their website... which you ran first and it removed the software restriction.. Bully for them, that was a wise move.
Now the question here, is, can I do something like this with Pro Tools?
Because I basically refuse to throw away this Digi 001 that was perfectly good in 2003- That is another issue altogether, Digi ought to give software support for all their devices, regardless of how old, but they are doing the same thing... Trying to force everyone to use newer versions: Well I think the newer versions of Pro Tools ought to by default operate with the older Digi devices. The funny thing is... I got sick of the software restrictions so I pulled the Digi off of my G4 and shoved it into my AMD x64... Which crashes Pro Tools, but Sonar 5 detects the Digi 001 and I can use all my VST and DirectX plugins.
But... I really want to use the unit in thr mac, because I can use Pro Tools in that machine, and I can manupulate up to some 30 odd tracks, which I cannot do on the AMD PC.
I know some of this does not make sense to some people, but the point is, I am stuck with Leopard. Is that the proper name for OSX.3.9? But I am stuck with it cos of the Digi... And I because I am stuck, I can't gert very many new programs, they are all for OSX.5!
So, is there a way around these software/OS restrictions? I really have to have certain of these programs and the older versions are pretty scarce.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions!
This is not Apple's fault - Protools 6.x is not compatible with OS 10.4 as per Digidesign. It is up to the software developer to coordinate their program with the intended OS. Get mad at Digidesign, not Apple.
Sometimes, people like you who love their old software but have a newer OS will get together independently and write a patch to allow compatibility. Unfortunately, no one has done this for Protools 6, and I doubt they ever will, considering how large of a project that would be.
The way around the restriction is to upgrade to all new equipment and a new OS (10.5 Leopard), or only use old equipment with it's intended OS. You could also have multiple startup disks, one with the older OS and and one with the newer. But you must use the software with its compatible OS. There is no way around it...

  • I just purchased Mac OSX Snow Leopard Software Version 10.6.3 before I install I would like to know if it will still keep my documents, etc? and not lose them?

I just purchased MAC OSX Snow Leopard Software update to Version 10.6.3.  At present my MACBOOKPRO is Mac OS X Version 10.5.8.  Since this is the first time I have purchased new software upgrade for my MACBOOKPRO I would like to know before installation if it will keep my documents, etc. intact or would it lose them?  Appreciate any help?

How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade:
Purchase the Snow Leopard Retail DVD.
Boot From The OS X Installer Disc:
Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
    Restart the computer.
Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo appears.
Wait for installer to finish loading.
    E. If updating:
    Download and install update(s)
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).

    Hi,
I have just upgraded my PC from Win XP to Win 7 and am looking for a compatible organizer software for my Curve 8520. In the past I have used Outlook but wonder if there are other applications (possible free ones) which would do the job. I need address book and calendar. Thank you for your help

  • 'Professional' OSX compatible disk label software?

I've been using all different brands and styles of DVD/CD labling software.
    They are all terrible.
Do you know of any labling software that will accept high resolutions?
As of yet, I've only found Mac compatible programs with very low dpi when printing. I really need something that will accept high-res graphics from professional output. Has anyone found anything that works well with opening and manipulating images 300dpi and above? It can't be this haphazard, I've gotta be doing something wrong or using amature programs here, because Stomper, memorex label system and the others are rendering unacceptable results. Any advice appreciated!
Message was edited by: I Hate PCs

CD stomper software, which I believe is called ABC or somthing to that effect.
Also, memorex labling system. Also the software that comes with Neato labling systems. My printer is not the problem. It's by no means pro, but it does the job ok for photos and press kits. Epson R200photo.
Perhaps my settings are out of order, but I don't believe so. I would just like to get some predicatble results with the lables, the way I do with every other kind of printout. The software is the only variable in between the difference.
    Thanks!

  • Canon T3i download cable will no longer work after 10.10 download. Plugging the cable into the 15 inch laptop says not compatible with software. Was fine before the 10.10 upgrade.

10.10 is installed. Now when plugging the download cable in from my wife Canon T3i camera to my wifes 15 inch Apple laptop it says not compatible with the software. Worked fine before the 10.10 upgrade. However I CAN download my pictures from my Canon 6D camera to MY 15 inch Apple laptop.....

I have a DSC-T1 Sony camera. I also have a Panasonic video camera with a built in digital camera. I just took some shots with the Panasonic. Plugged it in, and it worked perfectly. iphoto opened and did what it was supposed to do. I then tried the Sony and nothing happened again. Maybe this is a problem with the mac not recognizing certain cameras...?????

  • Firefox 3.6.15 is not downloading on MAC OSX, not via software update nor via manual download. It claims i do not have full admin rights which is not true.

If I do a manual download via FF website, it starts to install, asking if I want to replace an older version of FF. If I then continue, it says that it cannot process as I do not have access to 'certain components'????
I have full admin rights, it is f... my computer. I am running a Macbook Pro on OSX 10.6.6.
FF is giving me more problems lately, a.o. not showing certain flash elements (have latets flashplayer). Anyone else getting annoyed with FF?

I eventually did an archive and install to get 10.4.7 installed on my MBP the last time around. Now 10.4.8 is doing the same thing. Neither via Software Update nor manual downloads of Intel delta or combo updaters will apply. Arg!
Has anyone else seeen this? I've tried applying the update while booted regularly and also in safe boot to no avail.

  • Partitioning two drives to enable OSX and XP software raid.

    Hi Guys,
I have found out that XP support software raid 0 so I am wondering if I can do this.
I have 4 disks in the bays.
Disk 1 - OSX System disk
Disk 2 - XP System disk.
Now I want to partition Disks 3 and 4 into 4 partitions and use OSX software raid on 2 of the partitions and XP software raid on the other two.
I am pretty sure that this is ok with XP, is it ok with osx as well?
    Cheers
    Andy

    Hi AndrewCapon;
Could you please tell me exactly what you expect to gain with RAID? I notice that you have never told us what form of RAID you expect to implement here. Different versions of RAID provide different benefits.
I think this is the much larger questions. So often I find that users have totally unrealistic expectations of what RAID will do for them.
Also please be aware that RAID is in no way a replacement for backup. In fact if you use RAID for storage of your data a good backup plan is crucial.

If they are Universal Binaries, they will probably work in any version of OS-X on any machine. The catch word is "probably." It's also a case-by-case issue.
I would suggest checking with each SW vendor's website for specific details.
Back-compatibility is not always automatic. Some new software takes advantage of new drivers, monitors, video cards, etc., and will not work properly, or not at all on older software on older systems.
