Outlines around flash objects

When I roll my mouse over the flash obejects on my page an
outline of the object appears. When I click on the objects the
outline goes away.
Is there a simple way to get rid of these outlines that
appear?

Ooooh I see. Ive had that happen to me before on multiple
flash sites on the web, only the border went around the entire
site. It gives you a lil pop up message that reads 'click to
activate and use this control' which has something to do with
javascript and activeX with IE web browsers.
I just did a quick search on the matter cuz I always wondered
why it happened and I came across this site:
http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/popular_topics/click_to_activate/
It has lots of resources that will show you how to
(hopefully) fix it. Otherwise, its a result of some update that
Internet Explorer applied that might be unavoidable in some
cases.

Hello,
I have a swf object inside a table, everything is perfect when I look at my work in IE but when I use Firefox, a white border apears around the swf object, this is annoying because this border breaks my graphos design for the webpage...
I've already tried using padding, margin, border, outline set to 0 -or none- for both, the swf object and the table and the border doesn't go away... Also, I've tried changing the swf params for scale and wmode value and nothing happens :s
This is the code (yes, is the one that dreamweaver writes when you add any flash object):
       <td height="295" class="noBorders"><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="780" height="295" class="noBorders" id="FlashID" title="X">

I want my page to be looking good in any browser, what can I do? please help!!!!!
Thanks

Thanks...
I don't think is the swf file because the issue only happens in Firefox :s
Anyway, I think I've fixed the problem, instead of using a table for the two swf (the photo and the menu), i used 2 <div>s... I'm not sure is the correct way of designing it (mixin tables and divs) but its working now
       Thanks again

• Annoying dotted border around flash objects...

Hey. In the past few months I've noticed every time I have a
flash object on my browser, it's surrounded by a dotted border that
causes me to have to first press on the flash object - and only
then be able to use it.
So, for example, if the flash object is a
menu, I first have to click inside the flash object, and
then the border goes off and the flash is "activated".
Does anyone have any idea what causes this and how can I make
it go away?
Thank you! :)

• How to create an outline around an object

Totally frustrated.
I usually work in Illustrator but have to do this in Photoshop.
I have a photograph inside text (used a clipping mask) but now need to just OUTLINE each letter with black.  Normally, in Illustrator I would select the pen tool and outline the object without a fill color.  But in photoshop I can't do it.  How do I simply outline an object?  Seems simple enough but I can not figure it out.
HELP!!!!

Try Layer: Layer Style: Stroke.

• Mysterious white outline appearing around smart object

Hi. Actually not sure if this is an Illustrator issue or Photoshop.
In a psd file I have a Smart Object created in Illustrator. It is just some basic shapes that I merged together into one shape with a fill color (#FF28FF), no stroke.
Although there is no stroke, when looking at the Smart Object in Photoshop, there seems to be a very thin white outline around the shape. I've double checked again and can't find any reason for this white outline to exist. I'd like to stress that this white outline is very subtle, yet definitely visible.
I've uploaded a sample of what I'm talking about here:

It's driving me crazy. Can someone please explain to me how to get rid of it, or what is causing this?
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Mike. My monitor is pretty new. I got it only about two months ago. It's a Dell u2311h. I don't have the hardware to properly calibrate it, so I've been using settings recommended by people on forums (with the same model and revision) who DO have such equipment. I know this not ideal at all and that different units vary from one another inspite of being same make and model.... but this is the best I can do right now.
Out of curiousity, assuming that you are correct, I went into my monitor settings and played around with the rgb. The white outline that I'm seeing did seem to vanish when bringing the Green way down, but the colors were completely wacked at that point.
I did try catching the info with the eye-dropper and it did not detect any white. So I guess it is a calibration issue. If you have any suggestions for solving this issue without calibration hardware, I'd be happy to hear them.
Thanks!

• Border around Flash content in Firefox 7.01

I notice that any Flash content I create inside a Dreamweaver, html page results in a dotted border around the flash object when clicked. I cannot be the only one seeing this. I also have Safari which the content shows up fine. I thought it may have benn my css page but I also imported a flash swf directly to an blank .html page and that is my result
Is this an html or Flash problem?
anyone?
rd

This is an html/css matter.  I think it involves setting an 'outline' style to '0' or 'none' though I can't rememebr for sure.  Try Googling "CSS remove outline"... here's one result from that search that looks like it includes a section for Flash.
http://css-tricks.com/829-removing-the-dotted-outline/

• Is it possible to disable the dotted border around flash elements that show up when you interact with them? It looks horrible and it shows up everywhere.

I understand that this is somehow related to accessability of the web but shouldn't it be an option in the preference panel?
No other browsers behaves like this.

It did this and it worked for me. It requires the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/ Stylish extension].
Create a new rule with this:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
object, embed {
outline: none !important;
Links still have outlines around them, but thankfully Flash objects no longer do! Hurray!

• Flash Player dosn't work in IE 11 even shockwave flash object is activated

Hello,
Flash Player dosn't work in IE 11 even shockwave flash object is activated.
I've installed Adobe Flash Player Version 16.0.0.287 (today).
then
I  checked on this page:

Active X Version 16.0.0.287
Internet Explorer 11
Win 7 SP1 32 Bit
Please help me.
Thank you in advance
Paul

First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

• White outline around images in pdf

Ok I've searched google for help and have not found any tips. I'm using CS4. I'm creating a document in indesign. I've placed some psd files into the document. In photoshop they are an object with a transparent background.
Now they look fine when printing and when viewing in indesign. But when i output as a ps from indesign, then take it into distiller it creates a pdf with a white outline around the image. Why is this happening? See attachement. Outline is on the bottom, it's a really thin line.
I do file print, select adobe pdf 8.0 then i pick the postscript option, then hit print to save the pdf. I've tried changing from CMYK to leave unchanged for color options. Please help!!!

Try searching for the term stitching. That should give you plenty.
In short, what you're seeing is the result of your archaic workflow causing the transparency to be flattened. The preferred and recommended method for PDF creation is through direct export, maintaining all transparency in the document.

• How do I create an outline around text please

hi all, How do I create an outline around text please
thanks,

You can see here that you can simply apply a stroke to live text by double clicking the stroke icon in the bottom left of the toolbar and selecting a color. I chose red.
If you select the text, then go to Type > Create Outlines, you get more options in the stroke palette, like whether the stroke is aligned to the outside or inside of the text object's boundary. The text below is outlined with the stroke aligned to the outside.

• Flash Objects Glitch in SSI Header

Hello,
I am trying to use an 800px X 250px Flash object that I
created as a header graphic to be placed directly above my main
horizontal menu. I am placing this object as a Server Side Include
(SSI) at the top of every page in the site.
The problem I've been experiencing it that every time I
select a link from the main menu, the entire flash object glitches
or disappears and reappears as the new page is loading and it will
do this every single time even if the link I'm clicking on goes to
a page that has already been loaded.
Surely there must be some kind of work around for this kind
of behavior? Could anyone help explain to me why this is happening
and if there is anything I can do about it? I would like to have a
bit of animation in my main header graphic, but if it's going to
glitch every time someone clicks on a link to another page, then it
seems pretty much useless and I'll have to go back to using a
static image instead.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Greg

Yes, the link is:
http://www.testing.neptuniandesigns.com
The menu was created by
http://f-source.com/buy/adobeMenu/
and modified to look as I needed. It's essentially the exact same
navigational menu found at the top of this Adobe forum. Try
clicking on some of the links from the drop down menu and see the
whole header disappear and reload. It happens very quickly, but
looks absolutely terrible. There must be some kind of work around
because the menu at the top of this very page is also a flash
object and it remains stable and solid when selecting other links
from the drop downs.
If anyone knows of some kind of script or code modification
to prevent my entire heading from glitching every time a link is
selected, I would be eternally grateful.

• Borders around spry object

hey guys, i am very new, thank you in advance for your patience.
i created a spry collapsable panel with 3 drop down options. when i preview the object in a browser, there is a blue box around the object, i presume to tab around the page. how do i get rid of this? i have done all i know in CSS, is this a JS issue? how can i get rid of it?
thank you for dealing with my ignorance!
-rick

Its called outline / focus border. The browser adds it for
accessibility reasons. So when users for example browser your page
with keyboard navigation. They will know where they are on your page.
You can get rid of it by adding outline:none; to your css. but it's
not recommend to remove it.
