Outlook 2010 Interop registry error

Hi
We have a VB.Net application that connects to an outlook 2010 installation using Interop. When we call reply() or forward() on the Mail Object we get the following error.
"The operation failed because of a registry or installation problem. Restart Outlook and try again. If the problem persists, reinstall."
This is happening on multiple machines, and only seems to appear when there are special characters in the subject, for example *,-,(,)
I have searched for this issue for some time, but the only answer that comes up is to recreate the outlook profile, however this problem occurs on multiple machine, and only with the above conditions
Dim newItem As Redemption.RDOMail = Nothing
If action = ActionType.Forward Then
newItem = oMailItem.Forward()
ElseIf action = ActionType.Reply Then
newItem = oMailItem.Reply()
Else
newItem = oMailItem.ReplyAll()
End If
Try
newItem.Display(True)
Catch ex As Exception
bSent = False
End Try

Hi
This is quite old legacy code, so I am not entirely sure why Redemption is used, but it is used for everything outlook related.
Here is the code for loading the session.
If Session Is Nothing Then
PMComponentLibrary.Emailing.Emailing.LoadRedemptionLoader()
Session = PMComponentLibrary.RedemptionL.RedemptionLoader64.new_RDOSession 'CreateObject("Redemption.RdoSession")
End If
If Not Session.LoggedOn Then
Session.Logon(Nothing, Nothing, False)
End If
and for getting the MailItem
mailI = Session.GetDefaultFolder(rdoDefaultFolders.olFolderInbox).Session.GetMessageFromID(msgEntryID)

    Is there any help?

    To check if there could be some problems with your calendar database try to create a new calendar in MS Outlook. Add a test meeting and then point the calendar sync in PC Companion to the newly created calendar folder in MS Outlook. Now try to sync and check if it still fails. If it works, there is probably something wrong with your default calendar folder in MS Outlook.

  • 0x80040102 - Outlook 2010 - Sharepoint calendar error in Outlook 2010

    Having read through all the articles there is no definitive answer for this problem.
    Error: Task 'SharePoint' reported error (0x80040102) : 'Outlook cannot connect to the SharePoint List (<calendar-name>). The server may not be reachable from your location. Contact the SharePoint site administrator for more information.  HTTP

    Outlook 2010 running on XP and W7
    SBS 2012 on server
    Everyone running Outlook 2007 or below is absolutely fine. Both internally and externally.
    I would be very grateful if someone could either:
    1) Provide a resolution to this error.  All articles i am reading, even ones assigned as solutions, provide no insight as to the root cause and a clear resolution.
    2) Admit to an issue within Outlook 2010 and advise on possibility of future solution.
    I look forward to any insight on this.  Let's be careful out there ;-)

    Hi,
    According to your narration, first, please make sure this client can resolve the AAM name of the SharePoint server, in addition, make sure the user has enough permission on the list.
    You can use fiddler and netmon together to trace this issue.
    Finally, check out the following thread which may help you:

  • Outlook 2010 Terminal Services; Error when sending mail "Content within this application coming... "About:Internet"

    Hi All,
    We have Outlook 2010 running on Terminal Services for one of our clients. Frequently users experience an error when trying to send mail.  A message pops up stating the follow (sorry I cannot post pictures or links yet which would make this much easier)
               "Content within this application coming from the website listed below is being blocked by Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration."    About:Internet
    If I try to add this to the Trusted Sites zone it tells me that I have already done so.  All users are experiencing this issue. Not sure what can be done from our end to alleviate this problem.  Any advice?

    Either remove this "About:Internet" or disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration on the terminal server:
    To disable IE ESC for all users
    Close all instances of Internet Explorer.
    Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click
    Server Manager.
    If a User Account Control dialog box appears, click Continue.
    Under Security Summary, click Configure IE ESC.
    Under Administrators, click Off (Recommended).
    Under Users, click Off (Recommended).
    Click OK.
    Worked for me. Thanks!

    Hi,
    Firstly, I would like to ask what’s the account type do you use?
    Based on my experience, this error code mostly occur when you using Windows Live Account on Outlook. If this is the case, I suggest we firstly refer to the following article:

  • Outlook 2010 Sending' reported error (0x8004010F): "Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

    I recently moved my outlook directory to a different drive as my C: drive was getting full.
    Everything went smoothly except for now I cannot send emails from any of my addresses with the error "Sending' reported error (0x8004010F): "Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'" that I've associated with outlook.   Recently I
    uninstalled all of Microsoft Office (student) and reinstalled it on the new drive, still getting the same error.  I've tried following the steps at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2659085/en-us
    but when I go into the Control Panel to click on Mail (in this case Mail (32-bit) even though I run a 64-bit OS), the icon in the control panel is a piece of paper (leading me to believe it's broken) and when I click on it, nothing happens.  I don't
    mean my screen flickers or even thinks about doing anything with the swirly circle cursor... it does absolutely nothing.

    Hi Stintedvisions,
    Generally,
    “0x8004010f: Outlook data file cannot be accessed” error is occurred due to wrong configuration of Outlook profile. And as you said that you have been trying all Microsoft methods to resolve, but it’s still not working, then you should use
    the inbuilt utility of Microsoft called scanpst.exe. It can identify the bug and repair Outlook in minutes of times.
    Thanks

  • Outlook 2010/Error sharing Calendar: Error while preparing to send sharing message

    Everyone that is connected to this exchange is receiving an error when they attempt to share a calendar in outlook 2010.  We are using Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010.  The error reads:  Error while preparing to send sharing message.
    Any ideas on a reason why this would be happening?

    I think it may  be caused by the following reasons.
    1. Auto Discover service or outlook 2010 issue
    To verify it ,you could try  sharing calendar via  OWA?
    For how to manage Auto discover Service
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/library/aa995956.aspx
    2.Mailbox corruption issue

    3. Restrictive sharing permission assigned on the calendar.
    Could you please verify if it is caused by your  sharing policies? If the User chooses to change the permission
    to the following: "Anyone can view and  search for this Calendar on Office online.” You should be able to send
    them without issues.

  • Outlook 2010 IMAP connection problem and not work with TLS enabled

    Dear all,
    Need your help.  5 users of my customer Outlook 2010 suddenly popped error message "Your IMAP server closed the connection".  We checked that there is no problem in IMAP connection in Exchange 2007 server (SP3) (we tested with setup new
    account in another Outlook and able to connect, send and receive email).
    We are able to workaround the problem of that 5 users by disabling TLS in account setting for SMTP to Exchange.  The users can then connect and able to send and receive. (however, in our testing above, there is no problem with TLS).
    Could you help to enlighten me what may be the cause of this situation?
    Best Regards,
    Rayson Wong

    Hi,
    Please click File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Select the IMAP account and click
    Change > More Settings button > Advanced tab, and then adjust the
    Server Timeouts slider bar to a longer time to check the result.
    Also make sure the SMTP server port number is set correctly.
    Please let me know the result.

  • Either there is no default mail client of the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request-----error Outlook 2010

    I've tried EVERYTHING suggested in this link (http://blog.timolthof.com/outlook-no-default-mail-client-error/) and everything google and bing and still this message keeps popping up.  Now when I do a windows search for email, I'm not able to view
    the email due to this message.
    For the record, I am running W7 Ultimate x64 and connected via Excange Server.  I do have another system that is running Office 2010 with none of these problems so I don't know if it's related to Exchange though the searches I've done don't allude
    to that.
    What's up?

    Hi,
    I understand that when you tried to open Outlook 2010 beta on the Windows 7 64-bit computer, you encountered the following error:
    "Either there is not default mail client of the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and
    set it as the default mail client."
    You have checked the settings under the registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook
    I understand the inconvenience you have encountered and appreciate the time and effort you spent on this issue. Please be assured that I
    will try my best to help you.
    Now let’s troubleshoot the issue by the suggestions below. Please check the results after each suggestion until the problem is resolved.
    Suggestion 1: manually set Outlook 2010 as the default e-mail client on Windows 7:
    ===================
    1.
    Click Start.
    2.
    Type "default programs" in the
    Search box.
    3.
    Click Default Programs under
    Programs in the search results.
    4.
    Now click Set your default programs.
    5.
    Highlight Microsoft Outlook on the left.
    6.
    Click Set this program as default.
    7.
    Click OK.
    Suggestion 2: Start the Outlook program in safe mode
    ==============
    1.
    Click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to
    Microsoft Office.
    2.
     Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the Outlook program you want to start.
    If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Outlook program, we can try
    to disable them. Normally, you could do the following to disable the conflict add-ins in your Outlook program:
    Disable add-ins
    Click
    File menu, click Options >
    Add-in, click Go button in the Manage:
    Com-in Add.
    Check if there are any add-ins,
    clear the checkbox to disable them.
    Close the Office program and
    restart it.
    Add one check back each time to the list of Add-In,
    restart the Office program, and repeat the above procedure. Once the issue reappears again, we can determine which add-in causes this problem and then disable it.
    Suggestion 3: Test the issue with a new Windows user account
    ==============
    We can follow the steps in the articles to create a new user account to test the issue. If the problem does not occur in the new user account, some settings
    in the old account are corrupted. We can copy the main user files from the old account to the new account, delete the old account, and then continue using the new account.
    For the detailed steps on how to create a new user account and copy data from the old account to the new account, you can refer to the following articles:
    For Windows Vista/Windows 7:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile
    Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. . If anything is unclear or if there
    is anything I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.

  • Outlook 2010 "Server is unavailable" error when starting remote app

    All,
    I have recently built and configured a new server to run Remote Desktop Services.  It in on Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit.
    I have published numerous applications (e.g. Adobe, Visio, Project, etc. as well as Office 2010) to the host server.  Everything works with the exception of Outlook 2010 (client of an Exchange 2010 server).  When I or any of my users try to bring
    it up in the RDS portal, it goes through the normal start-up of any Outlook first use and looks for an existing email account.  As it is trying to load the user profile, an error pops up saying "The server is unavailable."  Clicking "Retry" does
    not work at all.
    When I run Outlook directly from the RDS host server itself, it loads up and runs fine so I know the RDS server can contact the Exchange server.
    Any ideas on why the Outlook application works on the host server but will not work when trying to run it through the RDS Web Access portal?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    For the past 2 days I cannot recieve or send emails at all on one of my laptops but on the other it does work fine. They both have the same set ups using MS Outlook 2010 but the other latop is on Windows 7 and this one is on windows 8.1 which does not work and I'm thinking it may have something to do with windows 8.1 which has happened over the past couple of days maybe an update or something that has caused the problems but I dont know what, the only thing I have been doing is resetting my equipment router/modem becuase I have been having speed issues with Infinity and I am waiting on BT to fix the issue, could it be that should I reset the equipment again and try outlook 2013? or also could it be something I have changed in the Home Hub 5 options?. sorry I really don't know what couold of happened?
    I get this error when just pressing recieve mail:-
    Operation Timed out POP server.
    When I just try to test account I get:

I have installed all updates to Office 2010, I have even updated to pro plus thinking 2010 might be the problem, not compatible with Widnows 8.1 but still the same annoying issue pops up!. Its driving me mad, I cannot solve the problem.
    Will not work direct to the hub either
    Now here's more to add to the mystery.
    I have just unplugged the usb wi fi adaptor, after 10 days of use, and activated the atheros internal laptop wireless adaptor.
    (It's a reasonably specced Windows 7 HP laptop)
    Outlook 2013 now sends and receives, and with a much quicker response than the with the usb.
    Not much consolation for your problem, perhaps. But it may be just a case of waiting.
    It's one for the networking experts, I think.

  • Outlook 2010 "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable" error

    Hi,
    We recently introduced a Exchange 2010 server into our Exchange 2003 enviroment but had to stop migrating users over to it after it became appartent that users using Outlook 2010 could not switch on their Out Of Office, getting an "Your automatic reply settings
    cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable" error. However users on the new 2010 can set OOF if they use OWA or Outlook 2003!
    Running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration shows no errors with the Log tab showing Autodiscover succeeded and the Results tab showing all the correct values, including a OOF URL of
    /Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml">https://<servername>/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml into IE gives a XML file with a 600 error code.
    I have looked at loads of 'solutions' on the Internet but cannot get this working, anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Craig
