OWB 10R2: Compare OWB repository against actual

Hi,
Is there a way to compare the date in the OWB repository against the actual schema?
Some of our developers made changes in the actual schema but not in the repository. We want to compare the differences.
Any tips or suggestions are welcome!
Best Regards
John

One quick thing to do is do an import for the metadata, then the dialog will show in bold objects you have...
Select all of those, then let it do the import (it will not do the import, so don't worry yet). The next screen will show you the differences between your metadata and the actuall schema. Expand all on it and make a print screen on it...
Now do an UNDO on that screen and the import will be cancelled and no changes are made the repository.
You can do this comparison on both source and target, should not matter...

    I've take a look and couldn't found any significant information in the log file, but we may try to see if this is the cause:
    oracle.wh.service.impl.assistant.DatabaseEngine.display(DatabaseEngine.java:391): Connection: host/port/serice_name = 127.0.0.1/1521/AMON2.ICONSULTING.BIZ

    The bolded text is your DB connection info. Is it ok? Check your TNS_ADMIN directory and see the sqlnet.ora file. Are you using something like:
    NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = ICONSULTING.BIZ
    Try to remove the domain from the connection info you provide when creating the repository. Another alternative is trying to create the OWB Repository from a remote machine. I believe you are running DB and OWB in the same box, since the HOST info in the log file is 127.0.0.1 (localhost).

    i did remove any java software, re installed the db and warehousebuilder.... any ideas?

    Hi
    As mentioned by Andreas you must not have the ORACLE_HOME environment variable set when you are doing this work. You also need to make sure that you don't have any Oracle software running, that all services (if on Windows) are shut down, and that you don't have any other environment variables that Oracle would use. Thus you probably shouldn't have CLASSPATH, PERL5LIB or QTJAVA set. What I do is rename these to ORACLE_HOME1, CLASSPATH1, PERL5LIB1 and QTJAVA1.
    The final thing I do is to alter my Path to remove all references to existing Oracle software. I save my existing path first though so that I can put it back later (funny how a backup comes in handy at times). Then after the install I look to see what path settings OWB added and I insert these into my original path, reinstating any environment variables that have not been replaced by OWB.
    I got to tell you that I find it a pain in the neck that some Oracle software won't install when they detect another Oracle product on the same machine. When you think about it, how head shakingly, frustrating is that in the modern world? Personally I, and my clients, are crying out to see these elementary interactions overcome once and for all.
    Things are certainly improving but boy its exasperating when one product interferes with another from the same vendor.
    Does this help?
    Regards
    Michael

  • Compare owb 9i code with 11g code

    HI
    Recently we migrated the 9i OWB's to 11g pls files.I need to verify whether correct versions were migrated or not.
    is there any way to Compare the 9i OWB's with 11g pls files?
    Note:9i databases with all OWB Components and 11g databases with new code is available.

    Hi
    Since you are using LCT Oracle to Oracle dblink you might as well remove the source execution unit and put the operators in the Oracle default target execution unit.

  • Extracting - Transformating OWB [10R2]

    Hi, just wanna ask u guys :
    1. Do we implement CDC in OWB or in Oracle Database ?
    2. How to connect CDC result with the transformation process in mapping editor OWB?
    Thanks, i really appreciate who reply this...
    Regards,
    Davis

    Hi davis
    1. We can implement CDC in OWB . However, you can also do it using pl/sql objects in oracle database.Procedures/packages/functions, are what ultimately created when you create a mapping. OWB makes ur life easy by offering a IDE for developng tht procedures/packages/functions. It is very difficult to create those pl/sql objects manually.
    2. SRC --> [Transformations] --> CDC Mechanism --> [Transformations ] --> Target Load.
    We connect the outgroup of a an operator after the CDC mechanism into the target table operator.
    Hope this helps you.

  • OWB 10R2 XML_ETL_UTILS xml data into multiple targets

    I am having some trouble with loading an XML file correctly into the target tables.
    The XML is looking like this (simplified))
    <DATA>
    <ROW rowid="1">
    <FIELD1>bla1.1</FIELD1>
    <FIELD2>bla1.2</FIELD2>
    <CHILDREN>

    <CHILD id="c1_2">bla_c1.2</CHILD>
    <CHILDREN>
    <PETS>
    <PET id="p1_1">bla_p1.1</PET>
    <PETS>
    </ROW>
    <ROW rowid="2">
    <FIELD1>bla2.1</FIELD1>
    <FIELD2>bla2.2</FIELD2>
    <CHILDREN>
    <CHILD id="c2_1">bla_c2.1</CHILD>
    <CHILDREN>
    <PETS>
    <PET id="p2_1">bla_p2.1</PET>
    <PET id="p2_2">bla_p2.2</PET>
    <PETS>
    </ROW>
    </DATA>
    A have a very simple data model:
    TABLE data (DATAID, FIELD1, FIELD2)
    TABLE datadetails (DETAILID, DATAID, DETAILTYPE, DETAILKEY, DETAILVALUE)
    (Both set to truncate/insert)
    When generating the pluggable mappings using the XML_ETL_UTILS each 'level' is generated into a pluggable map (DATA, ROW, CHILDREN, CHILD, PETS, PET).
    1) The first problem I have was how to keep the relationship between the 2 tables. When inserting data into the 'datadetails' table, the data has to been linked to the correct row of the 'data' table.
    This has been solved (not the best way I think) by manually modify the pluggable mappings CHILDREN, CHILD, PETS and PET to include and pass through the 'rowid' attribute so this 'rowid' can be inserted into the 'datadetails' table when inserting the details.
    -> My guess is that there should be a better way or the XML_ETL_UTILS should be able to generate the code to handle this 'parent<->child' relation preservation. Only I don't know how (yet).
    2) The problem I am facing now (after manually modifying the generated pluggable mappings to pass through the ID of the parent), is that for each parent ALL details of the XML file are inserted and not just the details belonging to that particular parent.
    It seems that when processing the data for the 'datadetails' table, it re-read the whole XML file and looks for all instances of the detail element of the particular pluggable mapping.
    This results in a 'datadetail' table looking like this
    DETAILID DATAID DETAILTYPE DETAILKEY DETAILVALUE
    *1 1 CHILDREN c1_1 bla_c1.1
    *2 1 CHILDREN c1_2 bla_c1.2
    *3 1 PETS p1_1 bla_p1.1
    4 1 CHILDREN c2_1 bla_c2.1
    5 1 PETS p2_1 bla_p2.1
    6 1 PETS p2_2 bla_p2.2
    7 2 CHILDREN c1_1 bla_c1.1
    8 2 CHILDREN c1_2 bla_c1.2
    9 2 PETS p1_1 bla_p1.1
    *10 2 CHILDREN c2_1 bla_c2.1
    *11 2 PETS p2_1 bla_p2.1
    *12 2 PETS p2_2 bla_p2.2
    This is off course not correct. Only the ones marked with a * should be there.
    When trying to add a filter within the pluggable mappings to only look for the elements that have the correct parent (fortunately we do have the parent ID available because of the previously mentioned manual modifications of the mappings), the code that gets generated is not correct because it generated code with incorrect (missing) references to the correct variables and doesn't work.
    -> Any idea of how to fix this?
    => More in general: what is the correct approach with OWB to load XML files that contain multiple rows and rows can have multiple level parent<->child relations? (Very common in XML world). Somewhere after processing we need a relational model to hold this data. Any help, examples, etc. is very much appreciated.
    Don't hesitate to call/e-mail me for questions/remarks, etc.
    Regards,
    Patrick

    Hi Tullio
    es you will have to regenerate the pluggable mappings (rerun the expert). and you can either rebuild your map or synchronize the pluggable mapping operator in the map.
    The error crept in when I introduced the 'create root node' option in the expert, this path worked, just the original did not ..sorry:) The fix should resolve your problem and I will get a full update uploaded.
    Thanks

    value as: TO_CHAR(sysdate,'dd-mm-yyyy'))
    The problem is that when the job execute the flow, an oracle error appear:
    ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected ORA-02063: preceding line from FAMISANA@SOU_SEI_LOCATION1
    When I execute the flow and set a parameter input any date (21/07/2001) , thats works.
    So, how can I set the input parameter for have default a sysdate ?
    So thanks

    value as: TO_CHAR(sysdate,'dd-mm-yyyy'))You have created parameter as date then why you are converting it into char.
    and you can check the date format for you database also.
    Cheers

  • Install OWB 10g (10.1) - Repository Assistant Design Repository Data TS

    The 10g Install/config guide B12150-01 states in chap 2 heading 2.3 para 8
    Select the tablespace for data. The tablespace for data stores the tables that Warehouse Builder creates in order to store the client's metadata. If you plan to run lineage impact analysis reports on your design metadata, do not select a tablespace that is locally managed and whose Segment Management Clause is set to AUTO. Default: USERS. (Recommendation: >50MB.)
    Can anyone tell me if the phrase that begins with "do not select"... is a documentation error, or, in fact, it works without this restriction. Normally, Oracle recommends this setting. Any further info on this would be gratefully appreciated.
    Thanks very much

    I don't know much about the 10g Releases yet but I had the same error with 9.0.2.3. The problem is that OID isn't available when it needs to be.
    When you get the error, start OID using the command line then try running the config assistant again.
    Hope this helps

  • OWB issue using runtime repository

    For batches to load data into the datawarehouse, we use .bat files.
    Somewhere in the .bat file we call a deployed mapping(.pls a package in the database), normaly it end with a succes status.
    But the last time we have 2 problems;
    - if there is a error while processing mapping the mapping does not stop at the error but continues. This is a big problem! When the error occurs somewhere in the mapping the mapping must stop.
    - normally in the batch one of the many mappings is ready in 1 minute but now it is busy for more then 3 hours and the only thing we can see is in the runtime assistant, there we only see that the mapping is busy but not what the mapping is doing.
    We have created all tables, functions and mappings etc with Oracle Warehouse Builder and deployed all objects.
    Does someone knows what to do?
    regards,
    Marinda

    - if there is a error while processing mapping the
    mapping does not stop at the error but continues.
    This is a big problem! When the error occurs
    somewhere in the mapping the mapping must stop.Set the mapping to have maximum errors allowed = 0 by right-clicking the appropriate mapping -> Configure... -> "Runtime Parameters" -> Maximum Number of Errors = 0. It will quit processing immediatelly.
    - normally in the batch one of the many mappings is
    ready in 1 minute but now it is busy for more then 3
    hours and the only thing we can see is in the runtime
    assistant, there we only see that the mapping is busy
    but not what the mapping is doing.This is a tough one to answer from here. The problem here could reside on your mapping, on Database side, on the hardware/software architecture...
    Do other mappings runs in a feasible time? If so, it might be related only to this mapping so you'll have to find out what is causing performance issues. Try to monitor this procedure using Statspack, discover what are the bottlenecks for this processing.
    Does someone knows what to do?Unfortunatelly I can't answer the second question

  • Respository setup in OWB 9 vs OWB 10.2

    Hi ,
    I have been working with oracle warehouse builder 10.2 and owb 11 release R1 , I was wondering how the repository was setup in owb ver9.Any help would be greatly appericiated.
    Regards,
    MALAM

    Hi MALAM,
    In OWB 9 , you have 2 repository .
    1 for Design and 1 for Run time .
    You can not directly access Run time repository , you need to access it via run time access user.
    Where as OWB 10.2 have single repository (it is called unified repository) for Design time and Run time .
    There is no need for runtime access user .
    In OWB 11g , the repository is inside OWBSYS schema.
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha

  • Deploy OWB ProcessFlow without OWB

    Hello,
    We have developed some ProcessFlows to load our DWH. We are not allowed to deploy straight from OWB to the database, so when we generate the ProcessFlows with OWB it creates XML files. But how do we implement them in our Production environment?
    We tried some unix scripts in the $ORAHOME/wf/admin directory (wfxload) etc. This doesn't work.
    Kind regards,
    D.

    deploy an xml file is easy, i assume owb is installed on the server.

  • Changes in process order against actual/standard bom

    Dear GURUS
    We are from Process Industry.
    Suppose there is finished material A. Components of A (BOM) for qty - 1
    Component    qty.
       X                 1
       Y                 2
       Z                  3
    One process order is created of A for qty 1.
    Then I had deleted the component Z from the created po and change the qty Y from 2 to 3 or any one.
    How can I track these changes against standard bom? Is there any report for same.
    I would also like to know the deviation in process order against standard bom and issued qty against BOM.
    I try Tcode COOISPI . Table STPO and RESB but not getting success.
    Also try MCRX, MCRE but it show actual issed against process order qty. But I would like to see diff. bet. Actual BOM , Process order and actual qty.
    Regards
    Rajan

    Hi Rajan,
    I think that this kind of control is designed in SAP through CO, meaning that in product cost controlling you have 3 sets of costs: standard as per BOM, target as per the definition in the the production order (e.g. after you changed the components), and actual as per the actual goods issues.
    These sets contain not only costs data, but also quantities.
    There's also very nice functionality to do a variance analisys between the three, again, not only cost but also quantity.

    Mario
