Pages works with all other docs, except the one I need to work on. From my downloads folder I can preview the entire file, however whenever I try to open it, i get the "opening" pane filled to ~90% and then the SBBOD. Only file it does this on...help??
From my downloads folder it recognizes the file as a Pages document, I can preview the entire document, but I try to open the file in multiple ways (from right click, to open from preview, from inside pages) and it refuses to open. The "opening" prompt comes up, fills ~90% and then I eventually get the SBBOD. It will fail out if given long enough to think it through or i need to force quit.

Pages: downloaded from App store when i purchased my mac mini last fall. fresh update.
Since it has always been very basic to backup your computer and all it's data, Apple provides no way for you to transfer music from your iPhone back to your computer. As you know, you can re-download all iTunes purchases, but music that you ripped yourself you'll have to just re-rip again.
You can try and find 3rd party applications that might help you. I'm sure you'll pay, however.
Let this be a very important lesson learned.

When i try to open week cal it loads and then closes after a few seconds...I have checked for updates, turned the phone off then on, closed out of the app and then opened it again...nothing works! I have thought about deleting the app from my phone and then reloading it again but I worry that it will delete all my calendar info??? Any suggestions?
To reset, press and hold the Home and power buttons until the silver apple appears.
I would delete the app, reset the phone and then download the app again. Your calendar information should be stored on the phone as Week Cal uses the Calendar app information.

I am trying to lauch an application on my ipod touch. When I try, it opens for about 2 seconds and then immediately closes. I deleted the application, reset and restarted my ipod and then download the application again. Still no success. The application is legit: Crunchtime for Contracts.
Any suggestions?I suppose the app has problems with your soft and hardware. Or maybe its a known bug of that app.

What do you mean nothing happends? because after step 5/5 the sync is complete and it should go back to the normal top screen of itunes. Is this what is happning? of is it freezing on step 5?

I can use iMessage with all other iPhone users that I communicate with, except for ONE person. When I send to that person, it always goes through as a text message. This person can use iMessage with pther people, but when they send me a message, it always goes as a text. Why can we both communicate with other people using iMessage, but not with one another?

1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.

Running ITunes 10.6, on a Win7 Home Premium SP1. Just loaded about thirty of my favorite CD's on my user account.
I would like to be able to make all of them available to my other family members in their accounts on my machine, without needing to reload them all and without having to store their disk images multiple times. Can this be done, and if so, how?
And can I copy the contents of a folder across to my wife's WinXP SP3 machine, and have them made available to each of us in our login accts on that machine?
(There are three of us, plus an admin and a backup admin account, on each.)
I will be really grateful if someone can help me do this for my family members, as we have shared the music on these CD's over the years, and I would like to make them available on the desktop for each of us.
Also, I'd like to be able to load them, or a subset of them, to my wife and son's IPods. Any Tips, Traps or Tweaks for that process, as well?

Not sure about the OS level for the IPods. I am doing this for my wife and son, using an account here created for my son, which he shares with me for support purposes. But I do know they both have IPods, and our PC's and their OS's were described above.You can move the iTunes folder to a separate drive on your pc an then configure each account to use this drive / folder as iTunes library ... The problem is, that iTunes by default stores everything in your personal music folder which is separate for each user account in windows (and by default is on "C" drive).
I create a separate partition on every pc/laptop (and map a drive name) where I store music, videos and other mass data. This will also keep the "C" drive small, which is backed up from time to time and so my backup is also small. -
The airport only finds other networks. Not the home network which I have used before.
It doesn't help to search for new networks, try to manually search or add the network. Doesn't
help to turn off/on the airport or even the mac. Doesn't help to reboot the home network - which is
found and connected on the iPhone and iPad. (and network speed is good enough for many devices).
The network just doesn't come up on the list of available networks.

One more question. I tried using the Apple install disk that came with the computer. It's an OS 10.5.6 disk. It does not see my 10.6.8 system internal hard drive to repair. All it see's is itself 10.5.6 disk. Do you think I can use a 10.8+ disk utillity since that is a higher system it will see the 10.6.8. Where the 10.5.6 does not?
I don't want to turn the computer off for fear I'll get the question mark again. P-Ram got me going last time but for how long I don't know? It would be nice to be able to turn the computer off for the night and startup as usual to give it a rest and try to reset itself.
Thanks for your help, I know I will eventually need to re-install. But I am in the middle of a project with tight deadlines and all I can do right now is back-up. Trying to migrate to another computer temporarily to finish the job. That's a lot of extra work in the short time also.

I am getting repeated email messages on Apple letterhead stating that my iCloud account is limited at this time due to some problem. It then asks for my name, user name and password. I believe this is a scam and just delete the message. Anyone having similar issues?
Since this is sent by the very people who maintain a record of you name, username and password - this is a scam. There have been numerous others reporting such phishing.

my ipod wont turn on. the white apple with the bite appears, stays for about 10 to 15 seconds like it normally does for booting up, then fades away and the screen goes black. 5 seconds later it repeats. it has been doing this for hours now. I tried the home and power button thing and the screen went black. then i hit the power button and it continued to do the same thing. i tried plugging it in to my wall, my charger recognised that it was charging. i tried plugging it into my computer and it made a sound like something was plugged in. but nothing came up.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

Open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder.

look for a folder titled Import or Importing and move it to the Desktop. Launch iPhoto to see if the message goes away. If there is no message check the contents of the Import folder to see if you want to keep any of those image files (usually they have not been imported into iPhoto). If you want to keep them then drag the folder into the open iPhoto window to import.
