Palm m125 - installed keyboard driver = palm 'hung' in preferences

hey,
i've just installed the keyboard driver(192 for mac) downloaded from the palm site. after hotsynch i reset the palm and then find myself stuck in the preferences screen.
i can change the preferences and even flip to other palm apps so long as i hit the physical buttons, (calendar, calculator etc), BUT... i can't get to the over all list of apps, can't USE the keyboard...
- half the palm is frozen???
this is a bit of a miserable situation. i finally have an original fold out keyboard which i'm desperate to get using after months of struggling with an infra red 'pockettop' that had hissy fits and rarely played fair..
can anyone please advise!
thanks.....

Hopefully this thread isn't completely dead after a couple of years.
I'm having the exact same issue as Sam except I don't have the luxury of a memory card (or maybe I do and just don't know it, I'm still getting used to this device, but from what I can tell I don't have one).  And I've found that it's not so much that the screen is frozen but that the stylus is no longer centered and is in fact off about half an inch down and to the left from where it should be, which makes it impossible to press the 'application' button on the screen to reset the stylus and see that my keyboard drivers have, in fact, been installed.
Any ideas? I'm getting tired of soft, warm and hard reboots every ten minutes- which can't be good for the device either...
 Thanks for any help!

  • Bluetooth Keyboard driver disables Palm Tx Alarm function

    Dear Folks,
I have had a Palm TX for quite a while, and I use it frequently for e-mail and access on the road.  During a recent trip, my Universal I/R keyboard died, and I picked up a new Palm Bluetooth keyboard 3245WW.  I've noticed that when the keyboard driver is enabled, my Alarm function no longer works!  The Palm turns on at the appointed time, but unless one manually selects the "!" icon, the alarm never sounds.  This doesn't happen when the driver is disabled.  It took quite a while to figure this out...
It's interesting that when the bluetooth keyboard is apparently working fine and I'm inside of Versamail trying to answer a message, the first keystroke sometimes crashes the program and causes a soft reboot of the Palm.
Note:  I have left the IR driver on the Palm, but it is turned off.  I also have Documents to Go version 8.003 on the Palm.
Any ideas?  I have the most recent Bluetooth Driver (11.08).
    Thanks,
    Curt B.

    Hi brenec,
just curious, did you fix your problem? Did it resolve the problem with crashing the device?
I have the Bluetooth keyboard since about 2 weeks and in principle it is working great. However, I experienced that the Palm crashes and does a soft reboot more often than usual. In particular this happens when I am typing some text on the keyboard. As far as I can tell, this happens when writing text using Documents to Go 7.00?, but it might also happen in other applications; the problem is that I use the keyboard almost exclusively with Documents to Go.  Luckily this does not happen all the time, but on the other hand, I already lost text that I typed on the Palm.
One pecularity is (and that reminds me to the Alarm problem) that I noticed that the Palm switches on by itself. No alarms are showed or something similar, just the screen lights up. The Palm did this even before using the Bluetooth keyboard.
I use the keyboard quite often as some kind of daily journal and to think loud (brainstorming). I find the smallness of the device very nice and that the Palm is ready to work after switching on. I used the Universal Wireless Keyboard before and didn't had these crashes. I removed the old infrared keyboard driver, but I did not do a "spring clean".
Any idea? If I can't fix the problem, I need to go for an alternative platform after 10 years of having had a Palm device :-(

  • I need to install a keyboard driver without a keyboard

I need to install a USB keyboard driver on my Mac Mini without a keyboard (my USB mouse works fine, and my original keyboard is 1000 miles away). I have only one USB keyboard in this house but the driver to make it work with OS X is on the Logitech website, which I have downloaded onto a CD. I can run the driver installation program by using the mouse, but OS X demands that I provide the system password with the keyboard in order to install the keyboard driver. That's a catch-22. MY QUESTION: is there a program that I can download for Mac OS X that will let me enter keystrokes using the mouse?

MY QUESTION: is there a program that I can download for
Mac OS X that will let me enter keystrokes using the mouse?
No download needed, but this is going to be painful. FontBook will do what you want.
Fire up FontBook by browsing using the mouse to the Applications folder.
Under the Edit menu, choose "Special Characters". A Character Palette will appear. View Code Tables so that you get the full set of fonts. Basic Latin (the first set) would be best so that you don't get into unicode issues. At this point you've got two choices:
    (1) it appears that the character palette works on whatever program is in the foreground. So you could click on whatever program's window you want to type keys into, double click on the appropriate character in the character palatte and it will insert (or select the character, click the Insert button).
    (2) if you aren't a perfect "typist" (clicker), you might want to insert whatever characters you want to type into a TextEdit document, copy (drag select, choose copy from the Edit menu), change to whatever program you want to provide keys for, paste. But certain programs (login windows, etc.) may not let you use a menu choice for paste.
Painful, but it can be done.

  • Code 41 Error when installing my HID keyboard driver with my HID mouse driver

I am developing a HID keyboard driver and a HID mouse driver based on HIDUSBFX2 sample code.
So I added some lines as below into both keyboard driver inf file and mouse driver inf file.
    ;-------------- Service installation
    [hidKeyboard_Device.NT.Services]
    AddService = hidKeyboard,, hidKeyboard_Service_Inst
    AddService = mshidkmdf,0x000001fa, mshidkmdf_Service_Inst
; -------------- hidKeyboard driver install sections
    [hidKeyboard_Service_Inst]

    [hidKeyboard_Parameters.AddReg]
    HKR,,"LowerFilters",0x00010000,"hidKeyboard"
I installed my HID mouse driver first successfully.
And then I tried to install my HID keyboard driver. But the installation was failed with error code 41.
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)
When I checked mshidkmdf service registry, I can find that Owners value is "oem6.inf, oem5.inf"
oem6.inf - keyboard driver inf file, oem5.inf - mouse driver inf file
And when I checked the log with traceview, keyboard driver was not able to receive any IRP from HID class.
On the other hand, mouse driver received the IRP and reinstalled.
    * If I uninstall the mouse driver and then install it again, the driver is installed successfully. I mean that this issue was found when first installation.
    Please help me~

if you are filtering below the hid miniport, why do you have separate keyboard and mouse infs? For a filter below the miniport just use one inf and the filter will see both the keyboard and mouse requests (assuming you report a keyboard and mouse TLCs
    in the hid descriptor)

  • Travel Keyboard driver will not install

I have recently bought a ThinkPad Travel Keyboard for my X200 running Vista. I want to use it so that I can close the X200's lid and use an external monitor. Unfortunately when I try to install the driver that came on the disk with the keyboard I get windows' error 2738 and I am notified that the driver installation has failed. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you

Normally when opening of a file is blocked (coming from an unknown developer) it is sufficient to control-click on the file/installer/uptater. Select Open. Then confirm that, yes, you do indeed want to permit this program to run.

  • Universal Wireless Keyboard driver - can't download?

A friend of mine recently bought an iPhone and gave his old Tx and Universal Wireless Keyboard to my family. I already have a Tx of my own, so I gave the extra Tx to my brother and I decided to keep the keyboard. My friend sent the cd-rom with the keyboard, but when i click to download, a box appears (either "please install PalmDesktop driver" or  "please install Microsoft Active Sync Program").
After reading some other posts on here, I tried to download a driver from this link: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,kb=PalmSupportKB,t=ooccase,case=obj(9372)
I've tried to download it three seperate times, but once I unzip the files and double click the icon it tells me my access is denied.
I wasn't able to use the software that came with my Tx, I had to download the software from the Palm website. I don't know if this may have something to do with my problems...?
I'm at a loss! Any help would be so appreciated.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

If it's asking for Active Sync, you're trying to install the wrong driver!  There are two on the disk: one for Palm OS devices, and one for Windows Mobile devices.  BTW, if the driver on the disk is 1.08, don't install it!  The newest one for the TX is version 1.13.   If that's on the disk, go for it!
The drivers are supposed to be reinstated soon on the website, and we've been hounding Palm to get them back quickly.

  • Bug Report - Windows 8.0 - 6.0.1 USB arbitration causes USB keyboard driver failure

Can't find a place to submit a bug report. So here goes.
    Full Error Message:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory.
    Problem Occurs:
    Windows 8.0 x64
    Vmware Player 6.0.1 build-1379776
    Problem:
A USB keyboard ceases to function on the host operating system following the first host OS reboot after installing 6.0.1 on Windows 8.0. This issue does not occur with 6.0.0. The issue disappears upon uninstalling Player 6.0.1. Reinstallation allows Player to operate as expected, but issue re-appears after host OS reboot.
The issue happens immediately after host OS loads, and continues irrespective of whether VMWare Player is launched.
Looking at the keyboard drivers, the usb keyboard's driver has not loaded (see attached images). The built-in keyboard driver however reports no errors and continues to operate as usual.
Changing the USB keyboard device to that of a different manufacturer does not resolve the issue. Any USB keyboard driver appears to fail.
    Work Around:
    1) Launch msconfig
    2) Disable VMWare USB arbitration service
    3) Reboot
    4) USB Keyboard works. VMWare Player continues to operate as normal, minus the ability to mount USB storage devices on the guest OS.

This issue was fixed on my PC as follows.
    1) Taking ownership of the above usb*.sys files in  the drivers folder
    2) renaming them to usb*.sysold
    3) Using Device Manager to uninstall all USB devices with the yellow warning ! next to them
    4) Doing a Scan for Hardware changes via the Device Manager toolbar and then waiting a few moments whilst the USB devices are re-installed with signed drivers.
    Hope this helps you....

  • Solaris on x86 Dell Laptop - keyboard driver!

    Hello,
As some of you may have a Dell Laptop I am asking if anyone has
had any success installing Solaris 8 for Intel. If you have please
    drop me a line.
So far I have worked my way past the hangs during the install's
configuration of /dev. I had to remove all references to cardbus in
the "Edit Device" settings of the device configuration assistant.
But then I hit the second problem where the first keypress at the
language selection window sends repeating characters until the keyboard
buffer is full. In other words it goes nuts because the Solaris driver
does not support the Dell Latitude CPi laptop keyboard. I know it is
not a supported configuration but I have little option since Sun are
no longer interested in supporting laptops in Solaris 8.
I already know there is a USB keyboard workaround but I dont
fancy myself hauling around a seperate keyboard just so I can use
    Solaris 8.
More specificallly I am looking for driver settings to make the
existing keyboard driver work or an alternative keyboard driver to solve the
issue. Sun can you help out here?
Any suggestions appreciated, especially some input from Sun.

    Hi knightweb,
Did you checked the BigAdmin center to know if your box is compatible / known to work ?
The installation program says your drive is RO ? Are you installing from a CD ? If yes, be sure that the disk choosed to the installation is not the CD drive (I don't know Dell 6350 anyway)
Did you tried to broke the last partition if there's one with fdisk ?

  • Keyboard Driver Filter doesn't work in 6.0.2

We're aware that the NI Keyboard Driver Filter may cause the computer to hang in the middle of shutdown (Windows XP) if a USB keyboard is used, so we substituted a PS-2 keyboard.  This worked fine.
Then, when we updated Lookout 6.0.1 to 6.0.2, making sure that the Keyboard Driver Filter was installed, we found that the Keyboard Driver Filter did not work.  It was still possible for a user with a lower priority to reach the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del.
We need to protect Lookout from being accidentally closed by users "playing" with the keyboard.
How do we get this function back?

I got something from R&D. The keyboard filter in Lookout 6.0.2 has some bugs, which cause it not to work and also some other unexpected problems. That means the filter in 6.0.2 doesn't work at all.
You'd better uninstall the whole Lookout 6.0.2 and then install it again without keyboard filter. After that, you need to install the keyboard filter shipped with DSC 8.0.1, which has fixed those bugs. See the attachment.
    Sorry for inconvenience.

  • I can't boot from OS install USB drive Mac Mini Model 1176

How I can't boot from OS install USB drive, Mac Mini Model 1176

Thank you Eustace Mendis for your answer.
I rebooted the Mac Mini holding the Option key down but it doesn't work. I used an USB drive with O.s 10.7 from Apple that I have used previuosly with other computers and I also tried with a CD install O.S 10.6
It seems that the Mac Mini can't recognize the keyboard inputs and I tried with 3 different keyboards but still didn't work.
I also reset the SMC and PRAM but I had no luck. Any clues?

  • Apple keyboard driver for Windows XP without running Bootcamp constantly

I just reinstalled Bootcamp/WindowsXP and wanted to know if there was a way I can get a driver for JUST the keyboard working.  I don't use any of the MBP F key functions like backlighting and volume so don't like having the bootcamp processes always running, especially because I hate the backlight on keyboards that you can't fully turn off without a slightly annoying thing each startup.  I use an external keyboard which has all the extra F key functions, but again never use them. I just need a way that I can keep functionality of the F keys without running Bootcamp proccesses in the background and the <Use F1,F2, F3, keys as normal function"
    TL;DR
Apple keyboard driver for WindowsXP so I can properly use F# keys w/out

From what I know, the BootCamp Driver installer program install all the Windows required drivers and it does not offer any customization options of which drivers the user wants to install on their Windows partition.
Now you can recover normal F-key functionality by doing the following:
Go to the Bootcamp Control Panel in the desktop task bar.
Click Allow if the Windows asks permission.
The Bootcamp Control Panel will open.
Look in the tabs at the top of the Windows and click the "Keyboard" header.
There you should see an option that says "Use F/Keys..." or something similar. There you will be able to use the keys normally as in a Windows PC.
    Hope this helps!

    Hello
As far as I know hibernate function should work if the hibernation support is enabled. It is only possible that some process that runs in background wont to be shut down. I am pretty sure that something that you have installed has negative influence on hibernation option.
I am 100% sure that with factory settings everything works well. If you want to reinstall Toshiba power saver tool you can find it on Toshiba download page.

  • I am trying to install the driver for a Wacom Bamboo Pad. The dmg from Wacom downloadsand will opens, but when I try to install it the message "Install Wacom Tablet.pkg" can't be opened because the Identity of the developer cannot be confirmed"

iMac late 2009 3,06GHz Intel Core Duo; 500gb hard drive, 12gb memory. OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
'“Install Wacom Tablet.pkg" can't be opened because the Identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.'
I have been trying to install the driver for a Wacom Bamboo Pad. There are several driver packages listed on the website (the device is supplied ready to run with Windows devices) and I have tried tried downloading all the available drivers which apply to my set-up. Some will not open at all and I get a 'Damaged' message on my screen. Of the ones which open, I can download the .dmg and expand it but when clicked it opens as a window with multiple choice of languages and an icon which instructs you to click to open.
If I do this some versions repeat the 'damaged' message but the later ones generate a window saying:-
'“Install Wacom Tablet.pkg" can't be opened because the Identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.' - this is as far as I can get it to go; most frustrating!
I understand that Apple's security updates have recently included an alteration that causes this result, and that there is supposed to be a legal (i.e. Apple sanctioned) workaround to allow files like this to be opened. If this is so, can anyone enlighten me?

    Many Thanks, Kurt.
I knew I'd seen the solution you've provided somewhere - either in MacWorld or MacFormat - but couldn't remember the Gatekeeper bit!
I shall save it somewhere VERY safe now in case this happens again …
