Panel Decoration Reference index Question

I have a front panel that uses native LV controls so I avoid scaling objects with monitor resolution as I have not had the best results with this when using native LV controls and indicators.
The front panel was laid out on a 1680 X 1050 widescreen monitor.  I want to use it on my laptop that uses 1280 X 1024.  I have the verticle taken care of by ensuring all the controls fit within th everticle area.  But I need help with the horizontal scrolling.
I am trying to limit the left and right scrolling to not extend beyond the furthest most left decoration and the furthest right decoration.  I used PANEL - DECORATION property nodes to get access to the decoration bounds so I can set the Left, Top and Right Bottom of the FP.BOUNDS,
But I have not had any luck getting this to limit the horizontal scrolling,  it still goes to far left and to far right.
Another question is - How do i find out the index of a decoration when there are a lot of decorations on the front panel.
Thanks

 Tim,
You can get the reference of a specific decoration by looking at the size and/or color. Using Width, Height, and Color, you should be able to pin down the exact decoration that you want a reference of. The attched picture just looks at Height.

  • Modifying a front panel decorative box

    Hi
I have an application whose front panel has several decorative boxes
(smooth and lowered style) used for aesthetic purposes. When my
application starts I would like to adapt my front panel display to
match varying screen dimensions. How would I go about dynamically
changing these objects? Do the boxes have any properties that are
    modifiable?
    Thanks
    John

You can access references to the decorations via a front panel reference. Wire the front panel reference to a property node and select the controls property, it will give you references to all the decorations. You now need to know the indexes of the references you want, get those indexes and you can read and write the size property of the decoration(s). I have attached a simple example that resizes two decorations when the front panel is rescaled, just run it and resize the window...the properties will rescale accordingly.
In the example the rescaling is curde; it just finds how large a percentage the window has changed and change the size of the decorations approx. the same. In real life you may want to put in logic that controls the size in a more refine
    d way.

  • SAP standard performance&healthy reference indexes values

    Dear Gurus,
In EWA report there are many sys performance & healthy indexes (see the list below).
We can evaluate the system's healthy status through them.
But we have to know the SAP standard reference values first.
My question is where I can find out the standard reference values for all of the indexes? (or some of the most important ones of them)
For instance , The index 'Reference for Avg. Response Time (ms) ' for DIA task is 1600ms.
    Average Response Time/Dialog Step(ms)
Average Wait Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
    AVerage Roll In Time(ms)
    Average Load And Generation Time(ms)
Average Database Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
Average Processing Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
    Average Roll Wait Time(ms)
Average GUI Time Per Dialog Step(ms)
    AVerage CPU Time(ms)
    Average DB Procedure Call Time/Transaction.(ms)
Average Lock Time Per Dialog Stepz(ms)
    Average RFC Interface Time(ms)
    Average Frontend Network Time(ms)
    Requested Data(KB)
    Number Of Roundtrips
    Number Of VMC Calls
    Total VMC CPU Time(s)
    Total VMC Elapsed Time(s)
    Average VMC CPU Time(ms)
    Average VMC Elapsed Time(ms)
    Number Of Dialog Steps
    Thank you very much!

    Hello Pravin Challa,
I've read the webpasges you offered.
I've learnt a lot from your help.
But there are still terms some terms confused me.
At the part 'Analysis of DB SQL CACHE' of our EWA report.
I can undstand some terms clearly. For instance,
'CPU Load [%]','I/O Load [%]','Elapsed Time [%]','Executions','Records Processed'.
I want to know their specific definition, computing interval and the unit of their value.
    Thanks!

  • How come a locked decoration doesn't show up in the VI.Panel.Decorations[ ] property but a locked control shows up in the VI.Panel.Controls[ ] property?

This seems like an oversight. Granted, I shouldn't be able to write to size and position properties of a locked decoration, but I would really like to read this information.

Patient: Help me, doctor. It hurts when I do 'this'
    Doctor: Don't do that
OK, but seriously, Regarding workaround No. 2. I tried to use the VI.Panel.AllObjects[] property but the refnum of all decorations are invalid and I get Error 1055 (Object reference is invalid) when I try to operate on it. I am running LV 6.0.2. Attached is an example with the values after running it on my PC saved as defaults.

  • Lost Beats Audio Control Panel, Windows Experience Index and HP Power Manager on fresh install...

    HP Pavilion m6-1035dx, product B5S06UA#ABA
Please help! I installed a 240gb SanDisk Extreme SSD and a fresh install of Win 7 home premium 64-bit OEM. I did not reinstall the factory OS and all that goes along with it. I have managed to reinstall all drivers (it seems) but am having the following problems: 1) I have installed IDT HD Audio Driver sp56953 but it does not provide the Beats Audio control panel, any idea how to get it? 2) The Windows Experience Index will not provide a performance evaluation, something in the system is providing it with an error message when it attempts to rate the system and it stops. 3) I have installed HP Power Manager sp57398 and can bring up the control panel but the changes I indicate will not stay applied, when I bring up Power Manager again it show that no selections are made. I knew this fresh install was going to provide headaches, please help if you can. Thanks.

I suspect this may all be related to a common cause.
When updating the windows experience index, what is the error message you receive?
Has the video card driver been installed? It is necessary for the windows experience index to complete.
Also, ensure the HP Software Framework is installed.  It is under the Software Solutions category.
You did a clean install of Windows 7. Has all the software and drivers for Windows 7 from HP been installed? Here is a link should you need it.

  • PDF Output and Index question

I know its a little unorthodox - but due to some security and
search-spider constraints for a project I'm on, we need to post PDF
documentation to our website rather than HTML Help or WebHelp.
My question is this - is there a way when generating a PDF
from RoboHelp, to have the index that was created in the project be
converted to a PDF page(s) with links in it that when clicked will
take the user to the location in the PDF where the word they
clicked on in the index appears.
Basically, I'm looking for the index in the PDF to function
much the same as it would in HTML Help or WebHelp.

The reason for needing the PDF is a bit convoluted, but I
will try to explain it to the best of my ability.
First, the content which the client is trying to post is
actually not a "Help" system, but actually more of a document, a 50
    page guide to be exact.
As for security, CHM files are out of the question as using
them would require changes to our servers which our Information
    Security team refuses.
As for the WebHelp format, as the document itself is part of
a larger website, all of its content need to accessible to
search-engine spiders. Since Web Help utilizes frames, and frames
are a roadblock for spiders, the only way around this would be a
decent amount of additional development to make each section of
content within the Web Help directly accessible through some
indexed page of links - which isn't practical for us with this
    document.
Therefore we chose PDF, as it is indexible and the contents
can be read by spiders. The reason the client would like to use
RoboHelp to generate the PDF is in order to take advantage of the
    Content Managment features it provides.

  • Quick MySQL Indexing question

    Hi all,
I know this is not strcitly a JDBC problem, but i was wodering if you have any ideas anyhow...
I've implemented an Index on two of my columns in a table in my MySQL db. My question is, when i insert new rows into the database, is the index automatically updated? If not, how do I go about updating the Index?
    Many thanks,
    BBB

I thought the database would manage that for you. AFAIK, you don't have to do anything. That's the way it is in Oracle. I thought that was true for all RDBMS. - MOD

  • Bitmap Index Question

I have a star schema database setup with a bunch of definition tables with 2-10 values in each. Most things I read say to use bitmap only in data warehousing, but in the same breath talk about tables exactly like I have them set up. So my question is, do bitmap indexes ever have a use outside of data warehouse? We don't do millions of transactions on hr, but it is an asset management front end run using php. So the main data tables is getting updated, inserted, and deleted during the day. I'd say on average we have about 30 users at any given time performing actions on the tables or pulling reports.
On side note, but still related to indexes, is it better to have the indexes stored in different tablespace from the tables? If so, what is its effect?
    Thanks in advance.

Having STAR schema design for a transactional processing application seems bit strange (but what do I know...).
Have you verified/validated that you definitely need bitmap indexes and B*Tree indexes will not serve the purpose? Just because it is a STAR schema does not necessarily mean one has to have bitmap indexes.
If you expect 30 users (on average) to concurrently modify the data, I believe bitmap indexes is not the right choice as the DML actions will suffer from contention. Bitmap indexes negatively affect the concurrent multiple transactions.

  • Spry Tabbed Panel 2.0 Suggestions/Questions

I've been starting to play around with the Widget Browser on CS4 & CS5 and I am just noticing a few things that I think need to be looked at.
    1. I am starting to understand your process for the UI (I actually never realized that was there at first, but with CS4 version I also have it makes it more obvious).  Is there a plan before the final release to allow users to edit text/content within the tabs or panels within the GUI, or will that end up being done with DW only?
    2. In the code view for the page, it is laid out with <h2> for the title and <p> for the tags.  Wouldn't it make more sense to have the tabbed panels to be <div>'s as opposed to <p> for the sake that with divs, it can be essentially like creating a page within the tab.  For instance, you can position elements within a div, add p tags as necessary.  I'm just thinking if the tabbed panels will be used by users for more than just text this code should change to accomodate that.  I do realize on live code it is being converted back to a <div>, just curious why it is the way it is.
    3.  Maybe I'm missing this somewhere but is there an option to set the default document type in the Widget Browser or within the import to CS5?

    1)
I can't really answer that, so what I would suggest is posting that answer in the correct forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/widgetbrowser you might get more luck there with finding an answer to your question
I do share the same feelings about this issue, I think allot of users would still love to be able to configure the widgets through DW. But the issue is that the widget browser is based on the Open Ajax Metadata specification which does not include such functionality in to its specification.
Aleast, there is no way for developers to "tell" Dreamwaver which markup they should add to create a new panel or instance. While it would nice to have i doubt its techically possible at this point. But those are just my 2 cents =
    2)
The tabbed panel supports of allot different markup. But they can only ship one markup with the Widget Browser.  As you will see in the SpryTabbedPanels documentation you can specify the tabs and content panels manually by adding the CSS selector for those in to the constructor of the widget: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/ui/samples/tabbedpanels2/SpryTabbedPanels2_sample1 .html
    3)
There is no way to specify "default" settings for all widgets. As the developer of the widget decides the markup that ships with the widget. As for DW, you can specify the default document type through the preferences panel > new document > Default Document Type ?
While the responses of on these user to user forums by the Adobe product team members might seem minimal this does not mean they do not monitor the discussions that occure here. So it's always wise to speak you mind and let the community and product team know how you feel.

  • Panels in 1.1, question for XP userss...

I only have time for a few posts to this board as I long to have the time to install 1.1. But I am too busy at the moment. So I just have a simple question?
In 1.0 if you adjust the width of the panels and than close down, the next time you open LR the panels went back to default size. I so far have seen nothing about this in 1.1 (I read the read me already)
Can any body tell me, do the panels now keep their user set width between sessions?

  • CTXSRV and automatic indexing question.

We are running portal 3.0 production on Solaris and have documents uploaded on a regular basis.
We are seeing that new documents are being picked up by CTXSRV for text indexing, But the ATTRIBUTES associated with the documents don't seem to be indexed........
To make the ATTRIBUTES searchable, we have to drop and recreate the intermedia indexes.
Is this how this works? Is there another way to make the ATTRIBUTES get "picked up".
    Will CTX_SCHEDULE help here?
    Any thoughts / help appreciated.

I am new to this field and I had a similar problem. I wanted to start the ctxsrv process to be able to make the inserted data available immediately for viewing. My question is what exactly does this command do? How long does it normally take to execute? Is there a way to test if the command has successfully completed?

  • Java object reference index..

    Hi All,
I have two doubts, it will be great if I could be suggested any thing on these.
    1. Is it a good idea to create an java object in the memory, may be 1-2 Mb in size and keep it in the server for a long period? The reason is the server restart may be once in 50-60 days.
    2. If the component objects(child objects... you can think of the whole object as a XML file structure), of the above mentioned object, are having a unique attribute id (type String), can I genereate an index on this attribute that will give me the reference of the object, so that I do not have to traverse the entire object to get an child object having a unique id.
Can you suggest any algorithm (number of child objects / items in the index will be 80000 - 100000) like binary indexing or hash function etc..
where in I will search the index with an unique ID (String type) and get a Object reference.
    TIA
    Ayusman

    1. Is it a good idea to ...Based on the information you gave, it is impossible to access whether it is a good idea or bad idea. If your computer has infinite CPU and infinite memory, then it wouldn't matter if you kept 1-2 MB in memory. It comes down to 1) how much time would it take to load that information from disk 2) how much time is the end user / process that depends on the information willing to wait 3) what other resources would be competing for that memory 4) how often would that memory be accessed, in other words, what is the gain / loss of not having it in memory vs the gain / loss of having it in memory.
    2. If the component objects(child objects... A hashtable would provide one possible solution. If your tree structure is likely to grow into 10s or 100s of MBs, then you may want to use a database. XML in my opinion is more of a transitional state of storing information (e.g. when the information needs to be transfered). I don't think storing a XML tree in memory is a good idea because it may not lend well to writing code to gather information.

  • Spry HTML Panel and Google Indexing

I've started working with Google analytics and am now realizing that my use of the Spry HTML Panel as cool and efficient as it is, is not being index by Google.  I am using the links with php pages that query a FileMaker database for it's content and need to have Google be able to open and index the pages.  What changes can I make to the standard HTML Panel Code to allow this to happen.  I'm getting ready to take on a large project and this will be very necessary.
    Thanks in Advance
    Joe

Ajax requests / all javascript are not seen by spiders / bots. Its a
    common issue with Ajax applications.
There a few ways to get them indexed. Point to it with a general site
map. So it get indexed through a other way.
Place links on the page that does the ajax calls to the urls. And
replace the urls with your HTML panel content.
So Spiders will follow the normal links and users will get the content.
Other way it to completely ditch html panel and just show it on the
    page it self :P

  • Directory Server 5.2patch4 index question

    Hello,
Hopefully just a really simple question about indexes. After creating indexes from the console, do you have to restart the ldap server for it to actually start using the indexes. The reason I ask, is that we have setup a box with ldapclient to authenticate user against an ldap server. We ran the idsconfig and such and we can authenticate, but it is really slow. We have some share directories setup where there are say 5-20 members in groups and when we do an ls -la on the directory it takes about 5 seconds for each directory listing to show up and the ldap server cpu utilization jumps. We also see an unidex search error in the ldap error log file. Also when I do an ldaplist group it is very slow. We have about 25000 groups.
Any help would be greatly apprecidated.
    Thanks,
    Gary

When you have created new indexes with the Console (or via CLI), you MUST build / rebuild indexes. It is not because you've configured an index that the data in the Directory has been indexed properly.
The separation between configuring an index and building it allows you to do the later when it has little impact to client application.
    No server restart is needed.
The Directory Server Administration Manual, Managing Indexes chapter covers this topic.
    Regards,
    Ludovic.

  • Help required in Index Question

    Hi,
This is an interview question that i faced.
Theres a table Statistics having more than 300 columns. It has normal indexes on say five columns col1, col2, col3, col4, col5.
Queries involving the first four columns give excellent performance but the query involving col5 gives poor performance.
COL5 has around 5 million data and 1 normal index ix created on it and theres just one value in it say 'STATS'.(He said the query can be simple select queries or join queries, the queries may select all the rows of few rows may be 5%, 10% etc).
The question was what could be the possible reason?
I was unable to answer it but i think BITMAP index might be useful in this scenario.
Any help or suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Is it a good idea to creat a normal index on a column that have just one value as 'STATS' and the total no of rows is more than 5 million??
