Parameters in stored procedure

If I need to call a stored procedure with 6 input parameters and 6 output parameters, how would I do this? Would it look like this?...
cstmt = con.prepareCall("{?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ? = CALL MKTDS22B (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)}");
or this?...
cstmt = con.prepareCall("(CALL MKTDS22B (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ? ,?))" );
Please help! Thanks!

Version 2 is correct. A parameter to the left of the equals sign is for (the one and only) return code value from the procedure as issued by the return statement.

    Oracle supports DATETIME data type.
    "DATETIME" data type is stored in "DATE" data type.

  • IN OUT parameters in Stored Procedures

    can anybody explain in detail what is in and out parameters in oracle stored procedures.
    thanks in advance

    IN is used to specify parameters that are input to the stored procedures. OUT is used to specify parameters that can be returned from the stored procedures.
    Please don't get confused with procdures returning value.. You don't need to write a return statement.. just assigning the values to OUT parameters is good ebnough to retireve there values outside stored procedures.
    Hope it helps.

  • CR XI Pass parameters to stored procedure but don't filter returned result set

    I have created a stored procedure that takes a begin date and an end date. The returned resultset is what I want in the report, but CR (as it should) filters the results so that the report shows only those records between the begin and end dates.
    In short, I don't want the parameters to be used to filter the data returned from the stored proc. Is that possible?

    Huh??? You only return data that has been filtered by the SP to CR but you want all of the records?
    Filtering is done Server side with SP's, if CR doesn't get the unfiltered data then you have to change it server side.
    So first suggestion is to remove the parameters from the SP, then CR can filter or not later on but could potentially return a lot of data. Applying filtering client side in CRD coudl take a while to do, depending on what is in the report....

  • HELP: Can't Pass Parameters w/Stored Procedure as Data Connection

    I'm working on using an existing employment application in PDF format, and I want the form fields to be prepopulated with the user's specific data.
    I'd like is so that when a user clicks a link (like www.mysite.com/empapp/empapp.pdf?UserID=5), a dynamic PDF document will open up and that user's data will be populated inside of the form fields by using that user's "UserID" variable/parameter that was passed in the querystring.
    I've tried a stored procedure that contains the following select statement:
    SELECT * FROM tblEmpApp WHERE UserID = @UserID
    I've also tried entering this select statement manually into the box instead of using a stored procedure without success. When I try to use the stored procedure, I receive this error:
    Stored procedure "spEmpApp" has non-optional parameters.
    How can I set the PDF doc up to populate the form fields based on that passed parameter in the querystring???

    -create a dataconnection to the db with a random query to the table.
    -just clone the dataconnection

    -change the query attribute to the stored procedure
         oDConn.resolveNode("#command").query.select.value = "exec spEmpApp 'parameter'"

  • Not prompting for the parameters of stored procedures while running

    Hi All,
    I have a stored proc which takes in 3 parameters and execute a copy of a record in a table based on the 3 parameters which I pass in.
    When I use the proc in crystal reports (Crystal Reports 2008), it is not prompting for the parameter values if we execute the report directly. It's prompting the values only when I do 'Veriyf Database' from the menu. Why is it not prompting for values when executing directly. Am I missing anything here?
    Also, I have a C# .net project which uses the report and take in input parameters. Even there, previously, I used to call the VerifyDatabase () first and then the SetParameterValues () which was working fine for regular expressions. But for this report (which uses stored procedure), it is not giving the desired output (copying data), even though the report doesn't fail to run. But when I changed the order of the call to have SetParameterValues () before the call to VerifyDatabase (), it works fine (copies the data for the given input parameters).
    Please let me know what is missing here? Is the order of the call to VerifyDatabase () and SetParameterValues () matters? If so, why is it working for regular expressions and not for stored procs?
    Please clarify.
    Thanks,
    Siva.

    I recommend posting this to the Crystal Reports Design forum. As I read it:

    The issue is in the CR designer 1st. So it needs to be resolved there before moving on to the CR SDK in .NET.

  • Crystal Report with Optional Parameters from Stored Procedure

    I have a client who created a Crystal Report. This report is linked to a Stored Procedure which allows for input on two criteria. Both of these critera are static values. However, the second of these parameters is setup to allow the user to enter up to 20 values. For example, the Stored Procedure needs the CARDCODE, and a set of DOCUMENTS. So the parameters/prompts would look like this...
    BP CardCode:
    Document1:
    Document2:
    Document3:
    ...etc...
    The report will just display basic document information for those documents that were entered.
    With 8.8, these parameters were changed to be REQUIRED.... not OPTIONAL. According to SAP note 1500777, this is a known bug and will be fixed in future versions. This note also states to change the criteria for the filter. However, when using a Stored Procedure, this does not appear to be an option, as the selection is defined by the data connection (and the parameters defined in the SP).
    Am I missing something? Is there a way to make the suggetion in the above note work with my Stored Procedure?
    Or, is there another way to make these parameters optional? (Do I need to change the SP?)
    Thanks!

  • Passing array parameters to Stored procedure

    Hi,
    I need to call a procedure repeatedly with different set of parameters. Instead To do this, I can form a parameter arrays and pass it to the procedure. This is working fine with Oracle 8.1.7 database and Oracle 8.1.7 odbc driver.
    Is there any difference in the way 8.1.6 Oracle ODBC driver behave? When we use the same code with 8.1.6 ODBC driver (with either 8.1.6 database or 8.1.7 database), and pass an array of n elements to the stored procedure, first elemet in the array is processed correctly and for the remaining n-1 times the same value is getting used (which leades to a unique constraint violation since procedure in this case does an insert). Soem of our clients are on 8.1.6 and so we need to get this working on it too.
    Also are you aware if Microsoft ODBC driver implements this correctly. When we traced with ODBC trace, it was executing the procedure n times one after the other thereby simulating the effect but poor performance. (MDAC 2.6).
    Is there any extra settings to be done?
    Thanks
    Sree

    Hi Justin,
    When I installed 8.1.6.6 ODBC driver this problem went off, but I recieved another problem.
    I am getting
    "ORA-01460 unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested"
    on execution of some procedures with parameter arrays. They work fine with 8.1.7.0.
    Any idea? Is it suggested that I use 8.1.7 ODBC driver with 8.1.6 server/client? Will it create some other problem?
    Thanks

  • Parameters to stored procedure from sender JDBC

    Hi,
    I am using the JDBC sender adapter to call the Oracle stored procedure. Oracle version is 10.2. hence I m using function call using select.
    My concern is, how to pass the input parameter to Oracle function from JDBC sender.
    Regards,
    Kavita

    Hi Kavita,
    <i>I am using the JDBC sender adapter to call the Oracle stored procedure</i>
    <i>Unfortunately, the sender JDBC adapter does not support Oracle's stored procedure/function. Unlike stored procedures from other database vendors, Oracle returns a cursor, not a resultset. The sender JDBC adapter must send a resultset to XI.</i>
    Executing an Oracle Stored Procedure from Sender JDBC adapter
    [Not sure about latest versions of Oracle]
    <i>can I pass the input parameter to this function? </i>
    In my opinion, No
    <i>If not, I need to change the approach, and need to use receiver JDBC[as need to pass input parameter]. </i>
    This could be possible but havent tried it

  • Returning Oracle Output Parameters from Stored Procedures

    Hi,
    Please forgive my ignorance of Oracle and PL/SQL. I'm trying to get a value out of a stored proc which I've written. The proc takes a username input parameter and returns a user guid through an output parameter. I'm able to print the output parameter to the DBMS Output but can't figure out how to return the thing in a record when calling the proc through a normal sql prompt!
    My call is like so:
    DECLARE
    nGUID NVARCHAR2(255);
    BEGIN
    GETUSER(nGUID, 'WHY-DEV-QSYS-Tim Watson');
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE (nGUID);
    Would like to return the value here; what's the syntax?
    END;
    The signature of the proc is
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE GETUSER
    USERGUID OUT NVARCHAR2,
    UNAME IN NVARCHAR2
    IS
    Can anyone assist?
    Thanks in advance!
    Tim

    The easiest way, in my opinion, is to not write a procedure, but a function for this porpose. You would not have to declare an out parameter, but a return value:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION GETUSER
    UNAME IN NVARCHAR2
    return nvarchar2
    IS
    From SQL prompt, you can then do
    SQL> select getuser(<input_string>) from dual;
    and get the returnvalue.
    Best regards,
    Gerd

  • Reporting off oracle stored procedure with parameters error

    Erorr message: Error in File xxx.rpt: Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 907 ]
    Asp.net 2.0 web application.
    CR XI R2 sp2 in BOE XI R2 sp2 on Solaris 10.
    Database: Oracle 10g on Solaris 10. Oracle stored procedure defined in package.
    Happens with reports reporting off stored procedure with parameters.
    The sp is used in the crystal report.
    The web application passes parameters to crystal report, which then passes the parameters to stored procedure.
    Encountered error if:
    r.PromptOnDemandViewing = false;
    r.UseOriginalDataSource = false;
    r.CustomServerType = CeReportServerType.ceServerTypeOracle;
    Report can retrieves data if:
    r.PromptOnDemandViewing = false;
    r.UseOriginalDataSource = true;
    r.CustomServerType = CeReportServerType.ceServerTypeOracle;
    In addition
    The steps are:
    1)     Create oracle package and stored proc.
    2)     In CR Designer, select the stored proc as datasource.
    3)     The parameters names were "generated" by the CR Designer.
    4)     Rename the parameter names.
    5)     Drag the fields onto report.
    We noticed the following with different setting of database logon info:
    When previewing from BOE, get error when "Use custom database logon information specified here"
    However, no error when "Use original database logon information from the report".
    Am i missing something?

  • SOAP TO JDBC scenario: calling stored procedure which will return the value

    I have Soap To Jdbc scenario in which I am going to call the Stored Procedure at target side which will be executed and it is going to return the result set .
    Result contains following values.
    return code as ( 0 Or 1) and also specific exception message if its return code as 1.
    Could you suggest me the way by which I can handled this return code and send it back to the Sap PI system then the same thing is directed the to SMTP server for sending mail to consern person.

    The OUT parameters of stored procedure will be returned as response. Where exactly are you facing the proble? Here is a complete walkthourgh
    /people/luis.melgar/blog/2008/05/13/synchronous-soap-to-jdbc--end-to-end-walkthrough
    In your case, you don't want response at sender. Instead you want to mail it. For this you may use BPM to design your scenario with following steps
    Receive (to receive data from sender)
    Send Sync (to stored procedure and get response)
    Send Async (to mail receiver)

  • Concerning Stored Procedures in LabVIEW..

    Can someone explain to me why LabVIEW cannot receive parameters from stored procedure calls? Is the problem with LabVIEW, the ODBC interface, the Intersolv driver, or Oracle? And does anyone know of any workarounds besides using select statements? Thanks for the help!

    Sal,
    I have seen some quirky things with the labview sql toolkit. sql statments that work in Access somtimes won't work when pasted into the sql toolkit. Things that make these problems go away are changing (or adding) single quotes to double quotes, square brackets instead of parentheses, Using the words "PROCEDURE proc_name" (remove quotes, change proc_name to the actual name)in front of the sql statment(s).
    I don't have much experience with passing parameters to / from stored procedures so I can't speak exactly about your problem, but maybe something above will help.

  • How to retrieve 'long' column with 32K length in Java stored procedure

    For some reasons, we are not using CLOB, BLOB, or BFILE to store large objects and I have to live with LONG. So I wrote a Java stored procedure to insert, select and manipulate a LONG column by retrieving the LONG into a java.lang.String class (which happens to be the Java class mapped to the LONG SQL datatype). It all works fine as long as the length of the value being retrieved is less than the magic figure of 32767 bytes (which is the restriction on LONG and VARCHAR2 datatype in PL/SQL as well). So looks like Oracle's implementation of the JVM limits String values to a max of 32767 bytes. Suggestions on how to overcome this limitation (other classes that you suggest or do I have to move to files)?
    Thanks,
    Jeet

    the jvm has nothing to do with it ...
    this is a pol/sql limitation on parameters in stored procedures.
    and java stored procedures require a clal spec that makes the j-s-p look like a pl/qsl stored proc.

  • Calling Stored Procedure with TestStand to SQL 2000

    When I run the Stored Procedure in the query analyzer it returns the recordset fine. I am not specifying any parameters. I am Using TestStand 2.01 and SQL Server 2000. I am using the OPEN SQL STATEMENT step to call the SP. When I run the SP in TestStand I get no data returned. If I run the SQL statment in TestStand I get the data that I am requesting. Does TestStand not support stored procedures.

    Hi,
    The instructions that I posted were for TestStand 3.0. In version 3.0 you can call stored procedures with input/output paramateres and to support this functionality the data operation step support several new modes.
    TestStand 2.0.1 does not support parameters on stored procedures, but it does support calling stored procedures that do not take parameters. To be able to access the data back from the database you need to set the cursor location (in the Advanced tab of the Open SQL Statement step) to Client (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/0EF68BF97AB1A61F86256B8E007D70C0?OpenDocument).
    By changing the cursor to Client I was able to succesfully call a stored procedure from TestStand 2.0.1 and to read back the recordse
