Parameters of LOV

Dear All
i have LOV exist in AbcVO and i can pass Parameters to this LOV using View Criteria takes some bindings , and i can do this by putting the column name in the value field for every bindings for my current VO.
my question now, my value will come from another VO, how to pass anotherVO.column in the value field of the binding instead of column of my current VO?
thanks

Hi,
the expression below is defined on a bind variable used in a VC. It looks up the AM and a ViewObject instance defined therein. It then reads the DepartmentId from the current row
adf.source.applicationModule.findViewObject('departmentsInLocation').currentRow.DepartmentId
The View Objects are not at all dependent.

  • Query Bind Parameters and LOV's [JHS 10.1.3.1]

Using the JHeadstart Developer's Guide instructions (starting section 3-69) I have started to learn and then implement Query Bind Parameters in JHeadstart - but I am being met with nothing but troubles.
Is there anything 'special' that I have to do in order to get a query bind parameter to work with a LOV? I have followed the instructions in the Developer's Guide but just replaced the bind parameters that would otherwise be in a Dynamic Domain into a LOV group in the JHeadstart Application Definition file..
To be precise about all of this, I have been trying to get this to work with the HR database schema. So, like in the mini-tutorial I have a query bind parameter on a Employee table View Object set as a LOV to the ManagerId field on the Departments View Object (set in Form View).
What is actually happening when I open up my LOV, is that no rows are ever displayed in the LOV pop-up window.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Michael,
Take a look at this thread:
Re: Group Used as LOV does not return records
You have to use a managed bean to "communicate" the value of the Employees base page to the LOV page definition.

  • Simple SQL Query and Parameters and LOV

Newbie and trying to work thru building a simple sql query with a single table query and use a parameter and lov.
Can anyone point me to an example.
    simple query:
    select cust_id, name_desc, name_add1, name_add2, name_city
    from customer_table
    where cust_id = :cust_parm
This works in straight sql and in the query builder by prompting for the customer ID. When building a parameter using LOV or search, it doesn't seem to detect the variable.
    Thanks..
    DD

If you are using version 11g, then as soon as you save the query in the data model, it should notice the parameter and ask if you want to add the parameter to the data model. What version of BIP are you using?
What happens if you exclude the parameter from the query and simply hard-code the criteria? Can you generate XML data?
From your wording, it sounds like you're trying to create a parameter from the LOV dialog. LOVs and parameters are totally distinct. After each are created separately, then you configure the parameter to use the LOV.

  • Parameters missing LOVs

    Hi,
I've an issue that seems to be isolated to Plus/Viewer. We've a new set of reports in our production environment that run perfectly when executed in Desktop. However, when attempting to run in either Plus or Viewer, some parameters are not retrieving LOVs. On clicking the flashlight, an error message 'There are no values for .....' appears.
As a process of elimination, I've logged on with two different IDs; one works fine and the other doesn't. This suggests to me that it's security related.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
you already mentioned that it seems to be user related. What is the difference between the two different user accounts? Do they have different respos and maybe with this they have different access to Business Areas? Check the security settings of the business area of the folder and the item class. Most probably one user has privileges to access it, the other user not.
    regards,
    David.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Stored Procedure and Parameters from LOVs

Quite simple report using stored procedure as data source. When editing some of the parameters we get this error when clicking OK to close "This stored procedure parameter can only accept multiple values. Please ensure that Allow Multiple Values is true."
As we all know stored procedure parameters do not access multiple values at all, so this message is very hard to debug. The report does work if we set the 'Allow Multiple Values' to true, but only when using exactly one value for the parameter. We have tried verify database and other things, but cannot find any way around this issue.
All ideas are appreciated as this is stopping us from utilizing the dynamic parameters.
    Thanks, Stig

We managed to work around the issue by creating a new stored procedure. First we used the same parameter names and changed the data source to the new stored procedure. After renaming the parameter with the issue the problem then was resolved.
Note that another parameter that was earlier affected by this issue in the way that it could not be edited and saved due to the same error message now also works fine. This even if this parameter has not changed names.
Quite a complex situation to debug this. Maybe if the source of the error message is found in the code we could help testing.

  • LOV with Query Bind Parameters

    Hi,
I have a number of LOVs which have Query Bind Parameters. These LOVs display correctly but when I select a row they do not return values back to the fields in the calling page.
I get the following message in the OC4J servers:
DEBUG (LovItemBean) -No row selected in LOV. If you did select a row, then the LOV is probably based on a read-Only ViewObject that is not based on an EntityObject. If this is the case, make sure at least one attribute is marked as key attribute, and you have called setManageRowsByKey(true) in the create method of your ViewObjectImpl java class
The VO that the LOV is based on is based on an entity object and one of the attributes is marked as key attribute.
When I remove the Query Bind Parameters the LOV returns successfully into the field.
    Thanks,
    Gavin

    Gavin,
We just hit this issue ourselves and fixed it. The fix will be included in first patch release, planned for first half of september.
As a work around, you can remove the "Refresh" property (or set it to "ifNeeded") in the page definition for the applyBindParams InvokeAction, as well as the corresponding Iterator binding immediately below the InvokeAction.

  • LOV with a query Bind Parameter

    Hello,
I am following the JHeadStart PDF tutorial over the HR Schema. On the page 45 this tutorial shows how to make a Dynamic Lookup with a Query Bind Parameter to choose the employees of a department with the expresion "p_dpt_id=#{bindings.DepartmentsDepartmentId.inputValue}".
After that I tried to make the same using a LOV instead of a Lookup but on the popup window opened with the LOV table the "#{bindings.DepartmentsDepartmentId.inputValue}" value is null and I can´t access to this information. If on the LOV definition I write for example "p_dpt_id=30" this work ok and filters the query for the employees of the departen 30, but not with "p_dpt_id=#{bindings.DepartmentsDepartmentId.inputValue}"
There is another way to do that?
    Thank you very much

I have done this task using the aid of the JHeadstart manual and these two previously posted threads,
Group Used as LOV does not return records
Query Bind Parameters and LOV's [JHS 10.1.3.1]
The actual process to do it feels rather unintuitive and complicated, but I've tested it and thus far is works flawlessly.
I whipped up a demo of this using the HR schema and JHeadstart, maybe I will post it on here.

  • Lov Values are not showing for Discoverer Reports in Application

    Hi,
I developed some discoverer reports, those reports having parameters with LOV. Those LOV values are showing in Discoverer Desktop, but after registering those reports in Oracle applications those LOV values are not showing. Pls let me know how resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Hanimi.

    Hi,
Also it is necessary to know how the LOVs are defined. Are they based on Application flexvalues for example? In which case it may be that you have not got your NLS language parameters set correctly when connecting from Applications.

  • How to pass LOV Where clause params from Page CO

    Dear Members,
I have an OAF Page for which I defined a CO.
I also have an LOV for which I have two parameters in where clause.
Now my requirement is to pass the two values to the where clause parameters of LOV from the CO of the respective page.
Can any one please guide me in achieving this requirement.
    Best Regards,
    Arun Reddy

    Hi Arun
as gyan, suggested try attching a new controller to lov , or extend its existing controller.
    In the page CO
store the parameter that needs to be passed to lov in pageContext.putSessionValue(paramName, paramValue)
In the CO of Lov page , in processrequest
retrive the stored values using pageContext.getSessionValue(paramName)
    Regards

  • OLE automation in Discoverer9i

Is it possible to place OLE objects into Discoverer 9i Plus screen?
I'm working on a report where it gives end user the ability to chose between two days. The user defines these days.
So far I only find a way of creating a parameter and print these two days manually which is not convenient to user.
I want to automate this - create two parameters or LOVs,
name them "Date From", "Date To" and by clicking on it - the calendar shows up. User then picks any necessary dates from there. It is exactly the same when we perform a file search in Windows based on the file creation date.
Any your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • Problem showing BI Publisher Report in Dashboard with Prompt

    Hi,
I've created a BI Publisher report using BI Answer as data source. For getting some xml files for building the rtf Template I've set my filter datas to fixed values.
I've created my dashboard with my BIP report and a query from BI Answer.
All was shown correctly now. Now I've also implemented a prompt setting my filter datas.
The BI Answer part is still shown correctly, but my BIP report shows the following error:
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    What's wrong??? Please help ...
    Thanks
    chrissy

I think I know why it is not working ...
I've 7 BI Answer queries for getting all the required datas for my report.
So I have 7 data sets which I've set to concatenated data-soruce in BI Publisher. Normally parameters and LOVs are disabled, when BI Answer is used for data set, but it isn't anymore when data source is concatenated and so don't use anymore my prompted values ...
How can I use concatenated data source in BIP with prompted values???
If this isn't possible I#m back to one of my other threads ...

  • How can we allow over 103,718 list of values to display in webi report selection?

I know, why would we want to?
Our business users would like to see the list ordered and first select from a range and drill down.
Any query in information design tool already does this as well as the preview values for the LOV object.
Is there a way to make large LOV function this way in webi query/report?
If not, is there a way to move beyond the warning of 'Partial list'?

These are all dependent parameters for LOV
    At BO Server level
Web Intelligence Processing Server-> Maximum List Of Values Size (entries) - 50000 (default)
Web Intelligence Processing Server-> List of Values Batch Size (entries) -1000 (default)
    At Universe level
Array Fetch parameter at database.PRM file.
Limit size of result set to --  parameter
    Query Level
Max rows retrieved ( Click Query Properties to display the "Query Properties" dialog box.)
    You can try below steps
Follow these steps to change the maximum size for a list of values:
Log in to Central Management Console.
    Click Servers.
Right click Web Intelligence Processing Server and select Properties.
Increase the value of Maximum List Of Values Size (entries).
Save and restart the Web Intelligence Processing Server.  Note: Setting large number for Maximum List Of Values Size (entries) may affect the performance of Web Intelligence. It is recommended to set the appropriate number according to the system performance.

  • Item Values Not Set - Dynamic SQL Fails to Parse.

    ** Think I've fixed this **
(By simply defining some page computations I was able to set the item values to some default. Please don't feel the need to reply :-))
I have a page consisting of 5 report parameters and a report, all in one region, 4 parameters are LOVs and one is a text field which in the query are all compared to table column values. The report region type is SQL Query(PL/SQL function body returning SQL Query).
If I load the page in a new session with default values for the LOVs as '%' and a null text field, I get the following error message:-
    failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-00936: missing expression
If I examine the session state, I see that none of the parameter values are set, which is probably why the dynamic sql is failing.
If I set one of the parameters to something, eg. choose another value in an LOV or type some text in the text field, and re-run the report, it executes without error.
What's the easiest way to fix this, is it to set the page items to some specific values when the page is first loaded? If so how do I do that? I'm not having much luck creating some process to do it.
    All help appreciated.

    Hi Ian,
Did you already try to put a default value for that lov?
Or try to do a computation before header?
    Thanks,

  • How to pass security context in

    Hi,
I am running BIP reports (Enterprise Edition) against application that requires a VPD context to be set up. How do I do this - is there anything like a LOGIN TRIGGER in BIP. I know that I can use a beforeReport trigger - however, I have a set of parameters whose LOV is based on this context, and they seem to display before the beforeReport trigger gets fired.
The context is set up as follows:
    v_ssouser := SYS_CONTEXT('USERENV','CLIENT_IDENTIFIER');
    vpd.set_user (v_ssouser);
    Thanks

    Hi,
you can call a function that's defined in a package, when you use datatemplates.
Look at the BI Documentation and
Data Template - PLS-00302: component 'P_PARAMETER' must be declared

  • FRM-41052:Cannot Find Window : Invalid Id

    Hello,
I have developed a New Form and wanted to use the calendar in the date fields. I had added all the codes and when I added the APPSTAND.fmb in the same directory where my form lies, it gives this error : -
    "FRM-41052:Cannot Find Window : Invalid Id" .
The First window gets displayed, where I feed in the parameters using LOV and then when I click on the FIND button, I get this error message window for 4-5 times before I get into the next window.
If the APPSTAND.fmb is removed from that directory, the Form runs fine without displaying the Calendar for the Date field.
Please letme know how should I go about in handling this issue.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
