Pc no longer works on airport extreme

Airport extreme was working for mac and older PC. Now it isn't. Can anyone help?

yes. The PC will work at my neighbor's house. It no longer sees the router in our house. I don't know what has changed.

  • Multiple devices no longer work with Airport Extreme

I can’t get multiple devices to work with my Airport Extreme any longer. Normally, I have 4 wireless devices with my Airport Extreme: MacBook Pro, iPhone 5, Sony Wireless Blu-Ray Player, and Windows Laptop. On a daily basis, I use the MacBook Pro and iPhone 5 at the same time on the network. I have even had all 4 devices on the network without a problem.
Problem: Since last night, I cannot use any of the devices on the network at the same time. Every time I try to use two devices, I am asked to login into to my ISP and the device currently on the network is booted off.
Additional info: I live in an apartment complex and use the complex’s ISP. Unusually, since yesterday another device (my guess is a neighbor’s Airport Express) has been showing up in my AirPort Utility. I cannot access that device because it is password protected.
Attempted Solutions: I have tried a soft reboot, hard reboot, and factory reboot of the Airport Extreme, but still have the same problem. I have also cycled the modem on a repeated basis.
The ISP does not think it is their problem as I can still connect to them through either directly plugging into the modem/outlet or through the AirPort Extreme. The ISP has great customer service and are usually very helpful, so I don’t think they are trying to blow me off.
Perhaps, my AirPort Extreme’s settings are off.
If anyone can provide me with a possible solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried a soft reboot, hard reboot, and factory reboot of the Airport Extreme
A factory reset on the AirPort Extreme would have configured the AirPort Extreme to act as a router, providing normal DHCP and NAT services for your network.
But, the symptoms that you describe indicate that the AirPort Extreme's Router Mode settings may be configured for "Off (Bridge Mode)".....a setting in which another router at the apartment complex would be responsible for allowing multiple devices on your network to connect.
Using your MacBook Pro, we need to check the Router Mode setting on your AirPort Extreme as follows:
Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Please check the current setting for Router Mode and report on what that setting might be.......either DHCP and NAT......or "Off (Bridge Mode)".

  • Will a wireless printer work with airport extreme?

Will a wireless printer work with airport extreme? Such as an HP Photosmart D110.

Yes, it will as long as it is within wifi signal range of the Extreme.  Of course, you'll need to go through the printer setup sequence. NOTE:  The D110 is not AIRPRINT compatible, so it will not print from ios operating systems that are installed in mobile devices such as iphones, ipads, ipods.  However, there are Apps that are available for non airprint printers, but their quality and effectiveness are questionable.

  • How to setup guest net work in airport extreme

Mmm, generally you don't need to do much port mapping in an extreme. Not sure I understand you.  What does the d-link do?

  • Will a WD hard drive work with AirPort Extreme to connect with an iPad Air

Will a WD hard drive work with Airport Extreme to connect by a iPad Air

If you already have an AE and a WD drive .. the best idea is plug it in and see on a mac in airport utility is the drive recognised.
If not you have problems.. if it is formatted correctly (Not NTFS mainly) then it can be a drive that is not compatible.
assuming it works get your ipad and pay for filebrowser or at least download a test copy and see how it goes.
Always the best way to find out.. try it.

  • Any current inkjet printers work with Airport Extreme 802.11g Basestation?

Does anyone know if there are any printers out there currently being sold that actually work with Airport Extreme (802.11g)? Not the latest 802.11n basestation, but the UFO-shaped Extreme g basestation? I recently tried the HP DeskJet D4160 and it does not work at all with it, although my deprecated HP 940c works just fine. I need to replace the 940C, and I don't want to have to buy and return 20 different printers in order to find one that actually works... Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Does AirPlay work with AirPort Extreme?

Does AirPlay work with AirPort Extreme?

The AirPort Extreme does allow AirPlay to "pass-through" but it does NOT support receiving AirPlay streams to be played back through powered speakers or an audio receiver as it does not have any built-in audio circuitry like the AirPort Express models.

  • USB HDD not ejected properly...no longer recognized by Airport Extreme

I'm hoping someone can help.  I'm quite desperate as all of my DVDs are on this drive.
I have a 2 TB WD USB harddrive that I connect to my airport extreme to use as my iTunes storage.  Up until 2 days ago there have never been any issues.  I was messing around, cleaning up around the router and hard drive and the USB cable was pulled out of the harddrive.  Now when I plug the USB cable back into the drive, it is not recognized in the Airport Utility.  I installed an older version of Airport Utility and it shows the volume, but I cannot do anything with it.  It is also not recognized in finder.  If I plug the drive directly into my MBP, it mounts fine and is totally accessible.  What could have meesed up with the drive?  I have another 1TB drive that I tried and this is recognizable in Airport Utility and finder along with a USB stick I have laying around.  It is only the drive that has all my stuff on that is no longer usable.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be very greatful.
For what it's worth, I've tried everything I can find on here and the web short of reformatting the entire drive.  I can't do this as I'll lose all my "stuff".
    Thanks in advance.
    Marc

This is a user to user discussion area. So it is unpredictable as to when someone with a suggestion will respond to your post. An hour in the middle of a work day isn't a long time.
Since the card is recognized, there isn't anything wrong with that side of the card. If the card isn't receiving a signal, either the RF side of the card has failed, the antenna wire isn't connected properly, or the antenna in the PowerBook has failed.

  • Airport card does not work with Airport Extreme when security is turned on

I have an iMac running OSX 10.4.11 with an Airport card installed (firmware version 9.52).
I recently replaced my Netgear wireless router with an Apple Extreme Base station and now I am not able to connect my iMac to the wireless network when WEP security is turned on - I get an error from the Airport Setup Assistant when I attempt to connect to the wireless network.
It works fine if the wireless security on the Extreme Base station is turned off.
Please help and thanks in advance.
    Motasim

First, I highly recommend that you switch to either WPA or WPA2 as WEP is no longer considered secure. If you must use WEP, I suggest that you try the following:
o Re-create the Network Name (SSID) on your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
o Try using 128-bit WEP, with a 26-Hex character key for the encryption type.

  • Can no longer print via Airport Extreme BS Network

I can no longer get my Samsung laser printer (ML-1210) to print via my Airport Extreme Base Station Network. All I get is the Printer Center telling me that it can't find the printer. Prior to OS X 10.4.4 and Airport Firmware update 5.7 no problems, after OS X 10.4.4 and Airport Firmware update 5.7 some types of documents (.pdf) would print sometime and some types (.rtd) wouldn't print at all. After OS X 10.4.5 nothing prints.
The printer is connected to the AEBS via an USB cable.
So far directly connecting my PB to the printer via an USB cable seems to print OK, as far as regular text files (Rich, and Plain) are concerned.

I tried so many things I'm dizzy. Nothing done to the computer, not even clean installing OS 10.4 on an external HD and booting from that worked. What seems to have finally worked (????) was reverting the AEBS Firmware version down to version 5.5.1.
Since I print so infrequently I'm not going to say it's all OK until I do some more testing/printing.
In the mean time if anyone can give me an specific idea why this conflict may be happening and what else I can do to fix it without running my AEBS with older Firmware I would be grateful.
The latest driver for Samaung ML-1210 is a couple of years old and I think it is a proprietary code (not something standard like PostScript).
I'm not sure if it's only the AEBS Firmware or a combination of conflicts between the "OS Version-Printer Driver-AEBS Firmware".
    Thanks.

  • Airport utility no longer recognizes my Airport Extreme Base Station, which had been set up to extend a wifi network

Hi.  In November I set up my airport extreme base station (5th generation I believe) to wirelessly extend the wifi network we use at home to see if it would increase download speeds.  Before doing that, I did a factory reset of my airport extreme, and the owner of the airport extreme to which the ethernet cable is attached made changes to his network to allow it to be extended.  I folllowed all the directions from the apple support pages, and finally got it to work.  I could even access a portable hard drive which I attached to the airport extreme base station being used as the extension.  Then a week or so ago I noticed that my laptop would no longer connect to my base station.  I did not have time to look into it until this week.  Airport utility, either on my Mac or iphone no longer recognizes my base station.  My mac is running OS X 10.10.1  and my iPhone is running iOS 8.1.2  I have tried both hard, soft and factory resets of my base station to no avail.  The only thing that has changed after doing that, is that when I do a soft reset of my base station, a neighbors airport express appears when it never did before.  I can't actually connect to it, but it does try.  Then after approximately 5 minutes, it disappears from my list.
Today I went and pulled out my OLD AIRPORT EXTREME base station... you know, the one that looks like a space ship and is running wifi 802.1 b/c?  airport utility DOES locate and display that, but airport utility returns a message stating that it cannot be set up by this software.  I am attaching an image of that.
    Thank you,
    John
Does this have anything to do with the fact that 'Back to My Mac' is probably enabled?

I think the initial problem is that your iPhone was connected to an open network that wasn't yours.
Go to Settings > WiFi and "Forget" the network created by that AirPort Extreme, it's older than dirt. Forget your neighbor's network also.
Perform the equivalent actions with your Mac: System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced... Delete every network that appears, including your own.
Then, connect to your own network on all your devices, after which you ought to be able to use any of them and configure your Extreme without any difficulty. You may need to start over with a "hard reset" on both the main AirPort Extreme and the one extending its network.
Does this have anything to do with the fact that 'Back to My Mac' is probably enabled?
Not exactly, but using iCloud Keychain will populate all your devices with the names of preferred networks that any of them connect to, no matter where they are. I don't know why Apple considers that a beneficial feature.

  • Airport Express G getting Port Forwarding to work from Airport Extreme N

I have an Airport Extreme N connected to a cable modem. I have an Airport Express G in another room, connected to a Local Ethernet Network. The AE G is setup as a WDS Remote to the AE N. Connectivity works and all is well.
What doesn't work is when I try to forward ports from the AE N to a device/system connected (via ethernet) to the AE G. The kicker is the port forwards work from "inside" the network. Outside they don't. I have been able to forward ports to anything connected to the N directly or wirelessly.
Any thoughts on what the proper configuration of the AE G or the AE N to get port forwarding to work from the AE N through to the clients of the AE G?
I have DHCP, and the clients of the AE G are getting IP addresses and working as they should.

I checked that. I can forward ports all day long to anything connected directly (or wirelessly) to the AE N. Anything connected to the AE G, ports won't forward. For some reason the AE G in bridge mode is not letting ports forward through.
    Thanks for responding, though.

  • PC Internet Not Working with Airport Extreme

Hey guys, just got a new Airport Extreme to replace my old one. Me and my brother's MacBook's both work in terms of the internet, but my dad's PC's internet will not work. It is connected to the Airport, but has no internet access. Any ideas? Thanks.

Apple's support section (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306256) says "How to enable Cisco VPN connections
You should use Cisco's VPN client software to establish a Cisco VPN connection via an AirPort Extreme base station. Note: In the Cisco VPN client preferences, make sure the "NAT-T" option is enabled.
Note: Some corporate firewall configurations may cause issues with the Cisco VPN software.
Please contact AppleCare support if you are unable to contact a Cisco VPN server via Cisco VPN client software and an AirPort Extreme base station.
I'm experiencing the same thing. DellLatitude D610. Netgear rangemax wireless PC card (WPN511). I can connect to the internet but I try to vpn into work I get half way through the connection process and get an error which states" Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding. I've spent 2 hours trying different settings. I really want to stick w/the apple product but will have to return it if I can't get it to work. I need cisco vpn via wintel for work.

  • What is the best way to make 3g/4g simcard work with airport extreme

I live in Mumbai, India and I am tired of the state of broadband connection over here. I have vodafone 3G Data only SIM with me which I use via a 3G dongle that plugs into my mac. It has a decent speed and I would like to use it as a primary internet connection across the 3 iPhones, 2 iPads, a Mac and 2 apple tvs at my home.
I have a 2014 airport extreme and i want to know what hardware do i need to make the 3g sim work with it? like put the sim in the hardware/adapter and then plug it into the wan port of the airport extreme and let the AE handle my dhcp so that i can access 3g internet from all my devices?
also, i was something 4g compatible as 4g is on the roll in India. it doesn't have to be a wireless router on its own but something that can dial the connection and provide internet access to the AE via the wan port.
    thanks.
    Neerav

The only reason I mention it would be configure your network for a roaming instead of extended setup. The number one advantage over an extended is bandwidth performance ... aka speed.
For example, I have a Cisco RVS4000 wired router as my main Internet router. I am fortunate that my 2-story home came pre-wired for Ethernet. I have placed an AirPort Extreme and a Time Capsule, connected by Ethernet back to the Cisco; one on each floor to provide a seamless wireless network for an assortment of wired/wireless clients. With this setup, I am able to stream HD TV content throughout the house. Mine is an example of what you can do with a roaming network.
