PC Suite won't recongise 6600 fold

Hope someone can help.
I have had a Nokia for years and always regularly back-up my information using the Nokia PC Suite.
However I have recently tried to back-up my girlfriends Nokia 6600 fold for her and it will not connect to Nokia PC Suite. When you connect the phone after about 30 seconds a message pops up that says "no response from host". There is then an option to slect USB mode but selecting "PC suite" does not successfully link the phone to PC suite. Whenever you click on "get connected" within PC suite it simply fails to locate the phone.
It is not a problem with the phone/computer compatability as I can get to the pictures through windows explorer by selecting "data storage" on the phone from the USB option menu.
Appreciate any help as slightly frustrating????

Nokia 6600 fold - no USB connection with PC Suite

Hi,
I've got a new 6600 fold phone. I've insatlled Nokia PC Suite 7.1 and connected the phone with the USB cable. The PC recognized it and installed it just fine. And yet, the PC suite doesn't "see" the phone - I can't choose any of the options to connect on the menu.
Tried to reinstall, read every possible guide, restarted both PC and cell phone several times. Nothing works.
Any ideas what else I can do?
(I don't have a bluetooth connection on the PC)

I was having the same problem with my 6600 slide, when trying to use the software updater. I noticed that the phone was connected on port COM11, i simply changed this to the lowest COM port available (in my case COM1) and the software updater picked it up.
To change COM port right click
My Computer and select Properties
Select Device Manager
Expand Ports (COM & LPT)
Right click your Nokia phone USB and select Properties
Select Port Settings
Click Advanced button
Choose a new COM port from the drop down list
Click OK when done

Nokia 6600 Fold SIM Contacts List

I've just purchased a Nokia 6600 fold and I'm trying to configure the settings of my contacts list. My contacts are currently listed as per the example below:
Citizen;John/5
However, I want them to display like this:
John Citizen
I have been into the settings and chosen to display First Name First, but my contacts are still not displaying as I want them to. What am I not doing, and can I fix this problem?
BTW, what does the number represent?

I hate to open an old can of worms but reading the history of the endless problems people have had with the 6600 fold, I wondered if there has ever been a happy outcome.
I realise the 6600 fold is now an old phone, but I have been using Nokia since the original 101 and like their products, this one really suits my needs.
However I have the intermittent crash that I read about so much on this forum. The double tap cover display fails, the electro magnetic fold realise fails and the numeric keys fail, plus various other features die. I have done all the usual home remedies using the Nokia suite like reinstalling software etc, checked battery voltage and so on to no avail. The only answer is to power off and on again or sometimes remove the battery.
I have taken it to two different Nokia care centres (LOL) nether were able to identify the fault (one down in Cornwall charged me £25 to tell me they could not find the problem).
Can anybody put me out of my misery please, as you can see I really like this phone and want to keep it going

6600 Fold & car kits

Does anyone know if the 6600 Fold can be used with any type of car hands free kit. Looking at the spec it would appear not but I would be interested if any one could confirm that as a fact

Mine is a non-Nokia guarantee phone, it is from Nokia Asia, made to work in Hungary.
After several tries, the service has solved the problem.
The knew about the problem, they said it IS a hardware thing, not a software, so updating won't solve it.
after about 3-4 weeks they gave it back and since then, the phone is working.
I don't know what they did, I don't care either, it is working now. They said some part needs to be changed. Ohh, I remember now: first they gave it back, it was still buggy, then they have changed the motherboard, I have a new IMEI now, and it is working.
Nokia knows NOTHING about this, they say they haven't experienced **bleep** like this.
Keep trying.

6600 fold - number 6 freezes phone. a bug well kno...

I bought 6600 fold for my wife over 6 weeks ago. The phone is totally useless because of this feature: pressing number 6 too rapidly or at all(which is often the case when typing sms messages and you just need to use that 'n' or 'o'), totally freezes the phone. A reboot is needed to get it going again. I've encountered this bug even when typing the PIN code.
Nokia care centre replaced the device and the same "feature" seems to be issue in this new phone too. And yes, the latest firmware 5.60 was used in these 2 phones. So I rushed to to Nokia care centre again I was told: it's a software bug, will be fixed in release, don't know when.
So I did some research and I found out that this bug has been known for over several months now, and Nokia hasn't done anything about it. I wonder when Nokia bothersto fix this, the phone is absolutely useless now. Money well spent...

6600 fold backup

im thinking of backing up my 6600 fold, i just need to know, will it also backup my contacts as well?
if so is it just the phone contacts or will it do the ones one the sim too?

Need help - nokia 6600 fold

Hi, have had nokia 6600 fold for couple of years - love it ! no probs, but have just found a strange symbol on screen which ive never seen before ? Its a yellow message envelope which spins and then becomes what loooks like a paper clip ? Cannot figure out what it is..messages 'in' shows nothing ?
Any ideas ? Thanks.

go to messages then options and settings go to multimedia look at what multimedia retrieval is set at set automatic if not done so already

PC Suite won't open or repair

I would really appreciate your help on this.
Phone: Nokia 5300, purchased recently
PC Suite version: 6.83
Computer: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz
PC OS: Windows XP Professional 2002
I uploaded the the PC Suite on April 25, 2007. My computer easily detected the USB cable driver and recognize my phone. I was able to synchronize fine.
Yesterday, when I tried synchronizing, my computer would not detect my phone despite several attempts to unplug and plug the USB driver. I went to control panel and chose repair for the PC Suite. After it repaired, everything worked fine again: my computer detected my phone and I was able to symchronize.
Today (April 27), the PC suite won't open after I've double-clicked the icon. I also tried right-clicking and choosing "open". I did this several times. I decided to go to control panel and repair the PC suite again but this time this happens:
- The "progress of total repairing process" stops at 36%
- "Repairing PC connectivity solution" stops at 10%
- I waited for changes in the repair progress for 40 minutes but nothing happens.
I decided to run virus protection programs like ad-aware and spybot and found a few minor problems. I dealt with it, re-started my computer then went through the process of opening the PC suite again, and, when it failed AGAIN to do so, repairing it through control panel. THE SAME THING HAPPENED: the repair progress stops at 36%, and the PC connectivity solution stops at 10%. I've been waiting for it to change for and hour now.
I don't know what to do. I really hope you have answers for me. Thank you!

I don't want to be a killjoy but there are concerns if you rely on PCSuite 6.83 to remove remains of previous versions during the upgrade process; rather than carry out a clean install.
Personally I used Windows Installer to remove PC Suite 6.82 rel_22.0, Nokia Connectivity Driver. Then I used PC Suite Cleaner with option "clean up computer" to remove registry items, reboot so then PC Suite 6.83rel_14.1 could have a clean install

Suite won't install

I just bought a new 5800 and I'm very frustated because the pc suite won't install
the installation halts at different places every - at prepration, at 5% at 25% at 43% and just freezes there without any error message.
windows xp pro sp3 here, no antivirus software, no nero, tried stopping mynetwork connection during installation

the disc that came with the phone won't go into my slot-leading drive and the ovi site says it's down for maintenance so it's my only option at the moment.

Audigy LS not recognized, Audio Suite won't inst

I've had my Audigy LS for a few years and the EAX feature has been working fine most of the time. But recently, after not playing for awhile, San Andreas has become a bit screwed up, as well as some other games. I cannot hear sounds directly in front of me/my character. Things are loudest from the sides. I know EAX is supposed to simulate surround sound and environment noise (Which it does very well in Splinter Cell and Battlefield 2), but not being able to hear what's in front of me isn't good. I haven't been able to disable EAX because the Audio Suite won't install. When I try, it give me the message:
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system.
Click the Retry button to re-detect your device and continue the installation.
Click the Cancel button to quit this installation and go back to your Windows desktop."
I can see Audigy LS in my device manager, it says it's "working properly", and it's set as the device for all my audio. So what's the problem? I also tried extracting the app's .exe, but to no avail (works for installing .NET 2.0). Please help.

If you had used the search box in the upper right of this page you could have answered this question on your own.
You have a few options: restore back to Snow Leopard from the backup you made before you installed Lion; upgrade to Office for Mac 2011; install Pages from the Mac App Store; use TextEdit; install one of the many open source Office replacements that can found.

6600 fold "NAVI" scroll key

I purchased a 6600 fold and after only 3 weeks of very light use the "navi" scroll key cracked and disintegrated,
Nokia care point wanted to charge to replace this key which on a 3 week old phone under warranty it outrageous.
Finally the shop where I bought it had it repaired only for the same fault to happen 4 weeks after repair, This tells me that there is an underlying problem with this flimsy plastic button, has anybody else had this problem?

its been reported before and nokia put it down to physical damage,ive seen cases reported with hairline cracks and they are not covered under warranty either however if nokia seen this was an ongoing problem and the piece is not a good build quality they should replace it free and look into using a better material for this to fix this problem.

check your local shops for prices that is obvious, it seems to be at stable phone, just search for 6600 fold on these boards to garner feedback from users and their experiences with the phone.
please email nokia to see if they have any idea of when the phone will be released in your region, and possibilities of local regional pricing

6600 Fold - Too Much Power

I have the 6600 Fold, and recently when using the USB connecting cable, I get the following message displayed " Connected device uses too much power. Disconnect cable".
The USB cable is connected from the mobile phone to a Asus notebook. As mentioned, this has only just begun to occur in the last few weeks. I now can only use the 240 volt charger to recharge the phone.
Any suggestions to what is causing the problem or has anyone else experienced the same.

The USB port on the camera connection kit is only for importing photos/videos from a camera, SD card or a USB flash drive. It can't be used for export of any file type.
