Pdf settings issue

So I have a pair of Eaton UPS units with the management cards, I setup IPM/IPP on all my machines and all was well after figuring out the rather cryptic configuration of your software with the help of the very nice people at Eaton over the phone (was genuinely impressed someone helped me with this stuff)recently one of the management cards in one of the UPS' locked up (the heartbeat LED stopped blinking) so I removed the card and reinserted it, it came up without issue (these things take FOREVER to boot btw) now I am getting constantly spammed with Redundancy Lost/Redundancy Restored messages on random IPP servers and on my IPM box too, I am getting SEVERAL per minute... I have tried restarting both cards, restarting the IPM server, I still can't get these messages to stop, finally I had to turn off all the Eaton alerting because my...

Migrating your database to a new datacenter can be a high-risk and time-consuming process. A database contains state, and can be much harder to migrate as compared to web servers, queues or cache servers. In this blog post, we will give you some tips on how to migrate your data from one service provider to another. The process is somewhat similar to our previous post on how to upgrade MySQL, but there are a couple of important differences.
This is the seventh installment in the Become a MySQL DBA blog series. Our previous posts in the DBA series include Database Upgrades, Replication Topology Changes, Schema Changes, High Availability, Backup & Restore, Monitoring & Trending.MySQL Replication or Galera?Switching to another service provider (e.g., moving from AWS to Rackspace or from colocated servers to cloud) very often means one would...

  • Generate PDF Settings Disabled

    Hello,
I’m using RH9 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine which has Word 2010.  In addition Adobe Acrobat 9.5.2 is installed.
I’m trying to create a pdf file using the printed documentation in RoboHelp HTML.  I check off Generate Adobe PDF in the settings but PDF Settings is disabled (greyed out) and a pdf file does not get created.  I am able to create a Word file.
I can see an Adobe PDF printer installed in Printer and Devices.  I can see it and also create a pdf of a page if I choose the Adobe PDF printer from File | Print Design…  I can also generate a pdf from Review | Create PDF for Review…
However, PDF output is disabled in File | Generate and in the properties of Printed Documentation.
I have seen some other posts about similar problems but have not been able to get it to work.
Is there a way to enable pdf generation using Printed Documentation?
    Thanks
    John

You are somewhat between the devil and the deep blue sea.
I think the issue is that Acrobat 9 is not compatible with Rh9. You need to install the PDF add-on (an option when you install RoboHelp) but if you do, it will likely wipe Acrobat.
    See Item 1 at http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh10/using_rh10.htm
I see you are on Rh9 but I think it is the same issue. Perhaps you can check with Adobe first.

  • How do I adjust the PDF settings on my mac?

I am having major problems learning to use my mac.
I have docs that I have edited in Word for Mac.
In windows, I used to be able to easily press Print, PDF, then choose the level of PDF I wanted.
Now. I hit print, PDF, then Save PDF As, etc.
    Result:
    1. Tells me "The borders of Section 1 are outside the printable boundaries. Do you want to continue"
I have gone back and done everything I can think of, but it still will not include a slither of the bottom portion of each page of the completed PDF. Seriously ***? Why not at least prompt me on how to fix this.
    2. The resulting PDF is 14.5 MG.  The original Word doc was weighing in at 2.5. Why is it making my doc bigger?? Despite continual searching, I can not find how I adjust the PDF settings to make it a light, emailable PDF.  If I choose Send PDF as email, the result is the same.  A big 14 MG file. This is driving me insane.
I can not now use my mac to do the most simple, yet urgently necessary task I must often do, which is create a doc, pdf it and email it.

  • Plug in Manager released today doesn't fix print settings issue

The download page says it improves reliability in Aperture and other apps. But it didn't fix the print settings issue in Aperture. I sent feedback on the problem. Try to hit the print settings button after hitting command P. If you have Aperture 2 and the latest security update the settings won't come up. Look at the top of the list for the Plug In Manager update.

Hopefully an update fixes this. I have had this problem for a long time, tried many different fixes, no luck. Horizontal scrolling works in IE9 however.

  • PDF access issue with OHS WebGate

    Hi all,
The architecture has OAM, OID, Documentum server. OID is used as user store for OAM. Documentum application is deployed in WebLOgic server. There is a OHS server front ending the WebLOgic server where we installed the webgate. We are protecting the Documentum URL through OHS host name in OAM Policy domain and everything is working fine so far. While downloading a pdf document in Documentum server application, it is processing as 33% and hangs over for 5 mins and finally displays an error given below.
    invokeMethod() failed while calling: onReturnFromProgress
Operation failed : com.documentum.ucf.common.transport.TransportException: Client failed to handshake with server within 250 seconds.
After closing this window, press the Refresh or Reload button on your browser to continue
I have seen couple of metalink notes about this pdf webgate issue and tried several options for webgate params CachePragmaHeader and CacheControlHeader.
    Tried the following combinations:
    CachePragmaHeader           private
    CacheControlHeader private
    CachePragmaHeader           novalue
    CacheControlHeader novalue
    CachePragmaHeader           public
    CacheControlHeader public
    CachePragmaHeader           novalue
    CacheControlHeader private
    CachePragmaHeader           novalue
    CacheControlHeader public
Like this I have tried almost 9 combinations but no luck. Also tried disabling the IP validation. There are no errors in webgate or access server logs
Please let me know if you have any clue on this.
    -Mahendra.

We're seeing an issue that looks almost identical to this but using Windows 2008/IIS7.x and WebGate v10.1.4.3. The PDF will begin download then it looks like a connection resets. We've tried it using PDF's ranging in size from <1mb to over >16mb. The results are consistent. On IIS turning off "http keep alive" allows the downloads to proceed (and probably diminishes performance to some degree).
While the workaround we found allows PDFs to download I'd really be interested in seeing what's causing this.

  • 10.6.7 - general pdf creation issues?

I wondered whether anyone else had run into this issue after updating to 10.6.7 when using pdfs created by Preview - perhaps related to the pdf/font issue.
If it is generally happening, then the 10.6.7 pdf-font issue has an even larger
    impact than previously described:
    1. Open a pdf document in Preview
    2. Select a region and save to clipboard
    3. Save as a new pdf file
    4. Then try importing it as a "Picture" into any of the new Office 2011 apps: Word, PPT, etc.
This crashes my office 2011 apps (latest version, 14.02) But NOT any earlier version of Office (2008. etc.), which may not do as much pdf checking.
Before the 10.6.7 upgrade (ie, 10.6.6), this never happened with Office 2011.
Acrobat complains when opening the Preview-created pdfs about 'missing fonts', so I suspect some sort of pdf creation issue.
Any fixes (besides the previously suggested one of downgrading to 10.6.6)
If it's a real bug (not just local to my system), then it's a more far-reaching one than previously described.

So, 3 different Apple tech support people say they know this problem affects
"multiple applications, including any that deal with pdf files" but that "no fix is

That is wrong because it only involves OpenType Postscript fonts.
The only solution offered so far is to "downgrade by doing Archive & Install" and
then re-applying each Combo Upgrade, starting with 10.6.3 up to 10.6.6.
You wouldn't have to do that either. That is the point of a Combo update. You only need to apply the one you want. It includes all of the previous updates.

  • I have one problem and I think it is a settings issue. When I google the web I get results. Now, when I visit some website and I return to my search results I don't have any markers (diffrent link colour for visited sites in IE).

    Question
I have one problem and I think it is a settings issue. When I google the web I get results. Now, I visited some website and then I want to return to my search results and pick another search result. And there is a problem: I don't have any markers (diffrent link colour for visited sites in IE) that would help me to distinguish visited and not visited sites.

Why start a new and very similar thread to your other one which you have not responded to (have you read the replies?)
I suggest that no response is made to this duplicate thread.

  • Pdf print issues

hi i'm trying to print invoices that have been mailed to me in  pdf form. i do get a print however its just the borders that prints. all the text and logos are entirely absent. i have tried saving the document and then printing from the saved document but this too produces the same results. this is a new hp laptop that i've recently purchased and i am using a brother mfc-j200 printer. printer drivers and software were installed on my old laptop and this new laptop from exactly the same disc. its a newer version of pdf that came preloaded on the laptop(corporate edition version 4.150). i have never had this problem on my old laptop.
i have checked for a solution online, and found the print as image solution, unfortunately that wont work as this version doesnt have that option ("print as image") on the advanced settings window.
i get proper trouble-free prints from all other programs (word, excel, etc)
    please help
    thanks

You mean the discoloration? That would be PDF tiles and how your printer handles them. In that case you may need to experiment a little with teh PDF settings and also check the color separations in Acrobat. this might reveal some of that stuff to show up on teh wrong ink plates/ not show up and would explain it. Could even be some faint semi-transparent objects you have in your artwork and you have forgotten about tehm. And naturally, your friend should check his local printer settings as well. If he e.g. has a USB printer, the print job may be sent in unfavorable chunks, which then would require him/ her to tweak his settings so the job only starts printing when fully spooled and being sent as one continuous job...

  • PDF settings question

I have been using Acrobat Standard v 8 to print letters out of Word.  My company logo - a gray scale, round logo - is a small jpg file inserted into header of the the Word doc (2003 or 2010).  When viewed on screen, the pdf output displays a fractured outside circle of the logo unless it is magnified quite large.  The pdf  prints out perfectly fine.  I tried upping the pdf settings in the Word output printer settings to "high quality output" and moved the dpi to the max 4000.  Still no good.  I am reluctant to start messing around with the more advanced graphics settings without some expert guidance.  Thanks for any tips.

Increasing the DPI is probably the wrong way to go. You are limited to how well Acrobat fits the pixels of the graphic to the screen. I use 300dpi by default (many folks use 600 dpi), partically because of problems that come along with the higher resolution (the factory default is 1200 dpi). The problem you may be having is more likely a result of not having selected the display preference for smooth lines and fonts. This was introduced for LCD displays which are the norm now. Give the display change a try and see if that does the job. You might also try backing off the display resolution you had set.
Another thing to consider is the use of the Press or Print job settings that embed all of the fonts. That is sometimes a problem for folks if the fonts are not embedded and the embedding is require if you do the archive.

  • Unknown error - (PARM), .pdf settings and Illustrator problems

I am using Illustrator CS3, and recently I no longer had choices for .pdf settings when saving from Illustrator as a .pdf. The only setting is "Custom" and I can't scroll to another choice. As I understand it, if I load .pdf settings in Illustrator they are available in all Adobe applications (very possibly wrong about that), but when I choose Edit: Adobe  PDF Presets, I get an error message: "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. (PARM)". Also when I try to save an .eps file as an AI document, I get the message "An unknown error has occurred."
I have thrown away my preferences to no avail, and am afraid I am going to have to reload Illustrator CS3, which I downloaded last year and do not have the disks for, I which I am having a very hard time trying to download again. (This part I guess I have to call about).
I usually work in Quark, but recently worked in some files in InDesign, and that's when this started, I think. Perhaps a coincidence. Many thanks in advance for any help.

    AM,
Okay, so sorry. But you and Wade are official, right? Can you help point me
in the right direction for getting replacement disks for my legally
purchased software Or getting download help so that I might re-download?
We are rather unofficial natives here. You should contact Adobe Customer Support about downloading.
You should be able to get rid of the error if you Move the folder, but it is still worth having the backup, even if you upgrade.

  • I am unable to access mail folders on my mac from my iPad: is this s settings issue?

I keep a selected number of incoming e-mails in subject specific folders on my Mac for future reference. I am able to access all incoming e-mails on both my Mac and my iPad but these mail folders only on my Mac. If this is a settings issue, can anyone advise me how to correct the issue?

If you are using a POP type email account, no, those folders would not transfer over. They only exist on your Mac.
If you are using an IMAP type account, it is still possible you created the folders locally on the Mac rather than on the server. You may need to recreate them and then move emails over to the new folders.

No, there isn't. The way you're using the file is not recommended. You
should use a review tracker to avoid getting in the way of one another.

  • Some options couldn't be displayed in "Adobe PDF Settings" tab

I am using Acrobat x pro's PDF Printer, and want to deselect some options in the "Adobe PDF Settings" tab within "Adobe PDF printing preferences", but several options couldn't be display. they are
Rely On System Fonts Only; Do Not Use Document Fonts
Delete Log Files For Successful Jobs
Ask To Replace Existing PDF File
It is right with Acrobat 9.4 pro, but it is not normal with Arobat 9.4.3 or Acrobat x. How can i fix this problem?
os: Windows Server 2003 standard SP2 simplified chinese version

I believe you can set these preferences within the Distiller application.
    No you can't.
What I want is to create postscript files(.eps) and embed the fonts in
them by selecting "print to file" of PDF Printer, so I don't know
whether it works to set options in Distiller.
If you're only looking to create a PS file you can use one of the Postscript-compatible drivers that come with Windows, and set them to print to file.

  • Clarification Regarding Adobe PDF Settings

    Hi Folks,
I have a doubt regarding printer settings. I have developed a application using VC++, My application creates a new printer and it copies the default "Adobe PDF settings" of Adobe printer.
I want to change the adobe PDF Settings of my applications's printer say Eg: "View Adobe PDF Results".
Initially "View Adobe PDF Results" is in checked status in "Adobe PDF Printer" when it copies to my application's printer i need "View Adobe PDF Results" to be in unchecked status.
I have tried with Devmode2 in printer settings to make that particular field as "1" but it not working
where to change the value exactly?
How to change the UI with my own values?
    Regards,
    Nethaji.

I've seen a Microsoft article somewhere which says that
DevModes2 is for 16-bit app compatibility only
DevModePerUser seems to do the trick.
Using fairly low-level analysis, I found the "View PDF Results" was a byte at offset (decimal) 1136 (assuming beginning byte starts at 0).
So under key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser  value Adobe PDF has a REG_BINARY contains a byte at the above offset which has a value of
00 = View PDF Results is OFF
01 = View PDF Results is ON
I guess the same key could be applied in HKEY_USERS\(dot)Default\...... and HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18 (LocalSystem account) for services which use Adobe PDF.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WSb2f1a50375cd48d3-1f36d19412ada208ceb-7fff. html

Whether I save the custom settings to the "Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings" from the PDF preferences or use Distiller to modify the settings and try to save (running distiller as administrator), I am unable to load a joboptions file.
