Peculiar case of GR posting

HI I have tried posting the same problem but no one could answer, may be because I was not clear in asking my question ....this is the question and best possible way to ask  it...
We have a particular requirement for a type of subcontracting process (not the standard SAP subcontracting) as mentioned below. We create a Purchase Order for a material (without a standard cost). The Net price mentioned in the PO is the processing charges for the vendor (service charges). It does not indicate price for the material. When we receive the finished material from the vendor, we perform a Goods receipt. The stock gets updated and accounting documents are created.
Our requirement is to stop this quantity updating during Goods Receipt. But, at the same time, we would like the accounting documents to be created as we need to pay the vendor.
Is there any way of achieving this?
I understand that in the standard process, the parent item info record takes care of the processing charges. But this is process that has been customized differently as the client has SAP as well as legacy systems talking to each other. Turning off the qty updating at the material type level will turn it off for all purchase orders created for the material at that particular plant which is something we would like to avoid.
We would basically like to turn it off for particular purchase order type. The reason for turning it off is that after the GR is done, there is a separate process that comes from the legacy system and updates the same quantity of finished product and also posts the consumption of components. So, our basic requirement is , is it possible to turn off qty updating for the GR of a particular purchase order document type and yet create accounting document. Material is not a valuated material and has a standard cost zero.
These cannot be done:
Creating an account assignment PO will serve the purpose only for a material with value updating active and standard price is non-zero.
Flagging the GR non-valuated in the material data of the PO will also non-valuate the GR, i.e. no accounting documents will be created for the transaction. But it will not stop the quantity updating.
I was trying to think in terms of a new movement type which can carry out the required transactions. Any help in this direction or anything else that could solve the problem would be great!
Thank you MM Gurus,
srix..

Srix,
There are so many factors which affect the way SAP is implemented in different clients. Some design decisions can be controlled and others not. Anyways, that is an altogether different beast and lets not get into that any further!
Regarding your specific situation, it is rather difficult to give any clear cut recommendation without knowing all the details (although you have explained it fairly well) or in general via a forum. I will just add to what I mentioned earlier -
- Your requirement is to bring in only the value but not the quantity when you do a  GR. Obviously, standard SAP will not allow you to do this. Why? Simply because it violates standard accounting/auditing rules....How can you account for this value if you want it to reflect in your inventory (stock accounts) without any stock?
- The other way would be to non-inventorize the product and collect the value into a consumption account (account assigned PO - you can use a temporary cost object/GL account initially) and then let finance decide at a later time how they will allocate the collected costs.
- The other point I would emphasize (in general about implementing SAP) is that you are bound to run into such problems when you try to break the links within a truly integrated ERP system like SAP (separate stock update process like yours, backend MRP system etc). There are different reasons for having a multiple of legacy systems along with SAP in a company but if the reasons are not justified (better functionality, significant change management ect), then you will likely run into problems and increase costs (more interfaces, interface maintenance etc) over the longer run.
Hope this helps.

  • SD-FI Exclude Credit Limit Check in case of Future Posting

    Dear SDN Members,
The scenario is like this in FD32 the receivables value is getting reduced immediately after I post an incoming payment for a Customer Invoice in a future date.
    For Ex:
Say receivables in FD32 before posting Incoming Payment is Rs.100/-
I now post incoming payment & clear an Invoice of value Rs.30/- with Future Posting Date say 1st Apr-2010.
Now after clearing the invoice, I found in FD32 the receivables has gone down to Rs.70/- immediately on today date i.e. 02nd Mar-2010. As per my understanding it should ideally be reduced on 1st April.
The requirement is thar AR should only on date of payment clearing.
    Pls suggest solution.

  • OIM use case- Email notifcation post Exchange provisioning

    Hi,
    Consider the following use-case:
After AD and Exchange accounts are provisioned for a user, email notification need to be sent to the user's manager containing some attributes. One of the attributes is user's email address which will not be given by the user. It would be concluded when Exchange Account is provisioned. Now this email adress is to be retrieved. It could be done by giving a JNDI call to lDAP in the java code.... how this is to be initiated...please give some pointers in this direction..

Like Rajiv is saying OIM normally sets the email address during provisioning so you can use the value from the process form.
There are some circumstances and configurations when Exchange will overwrite the email address with a "better" email address. In that case you can use s slight modification of this code http://iamreflections.blogspot.com/2010/08/manage-ad-with-jndi-demo-tool.html
The attribute you need to get is called mail (there are a dew other alternatives but mail is always present)

  • Negetive Depreciation to be posted.

    Hi gurus,
I want to post negative depreciation in one of the asset class. The scenario is as under
There is separate block of asset for capitalization of Exchange Rate Difference (ERD). ERD can be positive or negative. so asset may increase or reduce at times.
I have posted depreciation till December in system. due to peculiar nature of the transaction, system cannot give exact amount of depreciation required to be posted so unplanned depreciation is required to be posted. That also I have done.
Now the case is after posting system depreciation and manual depreciation till December, I am supposed to change amount of asset which comes to negative. I have posted values of Asset in the system and gross block is tallied but now the amount of depreciation already posted is higher than the amount I want to post. So I have to reduce the amount of Depreciation.
Now the system didnu2019t allow me to post negative depreciation either through regular system or manual depreciation.
    Please help.
    Regrads

    Hello Sharmistha,
You can post -ve dep too. For this you need to make a small configuration, Goto T-Code OABN or Path (Financial Accounting->Asset Accounting->Depreciation->Ordinary Depreication->Determine Depreciation Areas)
    - Here you will be presented with different Dep Areas assigned to your chart of deprecation. Double click the relevant depreciation area, Rules for posting/-ve dep, here Opt for "All values allowed"
Similarly you can go throuh other types of depreciation too

  • Item wise Invoice cancellation in case of same IR document

    MM Guru’s,
I have an issue for one of my PO, when I look at Purchase order in PO history tab page by selecting chronolg.order and observed that initially GR was posted for qty – 1 (as same as PO qty&price) with price - 11.941.000 and material document created successfully.
Later IR was posted by user for amount - 11.491.000 and IR document created - successfully.
Based on my analysis I understand that the IR posted by user amount - 11.491.000 has been entered wrongly while posting invoice hence there is a difference of amount which I can able to view in PO history tab page.
Since the PO has two line items and for item 2 IR is posted by user correctly only for item 1 user posted with wrong amount.
When I cancel the invoice document in MR8M both the items in IR are getting canceled.
My requirement is I need to cancel IR item wise.
Please let me know is there any transaction I can able to cancel the IR item wise.
I look forward to your valuable input.
    Regards,
    Kumar.S

    Jurgen,
We have a separate accounts team specifically for posting invoices.
In this case IR has been posted by user manually in T code MIRO.
We have also case where IR posted via Workflow/EDI/Batchjob..
Yes as u said rightly it was a typo while entering invoice.
I have given the same solution but wanted to know if we have item wise IR cancellation in standard SAP.

  • Single Excise Invoice Posting against multiple Goods Receipt.

    Hi,
We made a Purchase Order, say 4500000753, of 100 Qty,
The Vendor sent us the Material in two different Challans but in same date and two created two Material Documents, say 5000000772 & 5000000773 for Goods Receipt.
The Vendor sent us single Excise Invoice for both the Challans (goods receipt). Please advise how to post the Excise Invoice.
We tried to capture Invoice against Purchase Order, but the system is giving the following message:
Document 4500000753   does not contain any selectable items
    My Queries / doublts
    1. Is it possible to post excise document against multiple goods receipt documents.
    2. In what case we excise posting against Purchase Order and what is configuration required.
    3. Can we post excise invoice with two different Invoice Numbers like 123-A & 123-B
    Please guide.
    Regards,

    Hi Jeyakanthan,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have gone thru the "Multiple Goods Receipts for a Single Excise Invoice " in Sap Help Documentation, what I have understood is that we can do multiple Goods Receipt against a Single Invoice. Here in this case we do the Goods Receipt against Purchase Order , do the Invoice Capture for first goods receipt againts Purchase Order and we enter the Invoice Number (say 745, sent by the Vendor) while capturing excise invoice. When the second shipment (against the same PO) comes, we do goods receipt and we refer the "Only Refer Excise Invoice" while doing the goods receipt. Finally after when we have entered all the shipments for the PO, we do the Excise Posting.
Here in our case we have already posted the Goods Receipt (without entering the Invoice Number in first goods receipt) and now we want to capture & post excise invoice for a Single Excise Invoice (Invoice No. say 745,).
Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Here we have got two options:
    a. Reverse all the goods receipt & re-enter the goods receipt .
    b. post two separate excise invoice against each goods receipt mentioning dummy excise invoice number like 745-A & 745-B.
Option a seems difficulty as we will have to reverse all the subsequent goods receipt & transfer posting documents.
Option b seems legally wrong, as per understanding.
    Request you to please advise.
    Regards

  • Month Year values based on Posting Date

In my super huge extra large InfoCube (0CFM_C10) I got a lot of data. I take Posting Date, some KFG and CalMonth/Year. Unfortinally CalMonth/Year duplicates records, if I drop it off the columns/rows I get valid data by Posting Date.
My question is this - is it possible to create some MonthYear Calculated KFG/field/formula or smthng. based on Posting Date? In other words I need Month/Year in rows/ columns or free characteristics...

    Dear,
When canceling a payment which was created in previous posting periods,
we  get system message "Date deviates from permissible range",so
the workaround is changing back the posting period to the previous one
and try to cancel the payment.
However, another system message pops up when we try to cancel payment
after changing back the posting period, which is the "creation date" or
    "posting date".
In this scenario, you should select the second option from the
cancellation options window, which is the 'Creation date'. I would like
    to explain more below.
Posting Date- means the posting date of the cancellation document, it's
not the posting date of the incoming payment that you wanna perform the
cancellation. In your case, selecting this 'posting date' option, system
deems that you want to post this cancellation document on its own
    posting date.
Creating Date- means the posting date/creation date of the incoming
payment, it makes sense that the system works fine if you select this
option. If you cancel the incoming payment and check the JE generated,
you will find that the posting date of this cancellation document is
actually recorded as the posting date of the incoming payment.
Wish it helps you.If you have any problems, please kindly let me know.
    Thanks and best regards,

  • HU items' material posting is inconsistent

Outbound delivery confirmations IDOCs are failing when the material has a stock determation rule and is assigned to a Handling Unit.
    I reviewed SAP notes 550289, 605629, 952440.
The notes state HUM and Stock Determation are NOT comptabile. This is an issue as ALL deliveries which are PGId from High Jump contain materials which are packed in Handling Units.
Stock Determination rules are set up for vendor consignment.
    IDOC Error Message:
HU items' material posting is inconsistent
    Message no. HUGENERAL327
    Diagnosis
Handling unit MDED8 contains more than one item. The goods movement posts the items to storage locations with different HU-management strategies. The stock contained in one handling unit can be located either only in HU-managed storage locations or only in non-HU storage locations.
    Procedure
    You have the following options:
Post all items to an HU-managed storage location
Post all items to a non-HU storage location
Repack the items in different handling units so that items that are to be posted to the same type of storage location are packed together.
    In my case,
We are posting all items to non-HU storaage location. Why is it still failing? All HU items are being posted to the same storage location and in a NON HU storage location.
Logistics General>HUM>General>MM>IM-->HU Requirement for Storage Locations and Default Values for
When I check for our DWMS plants and their associated storage locations, the HU requirment is UNCHECKED for all storage locations for all plants.
Any ideas? Please explain why the issue still exists or how to over come this issue.

    Hello,
I am having the same problem when I want to use stock determination and HUM in the delivery GI.  The add-on solution that SAP wants to get paid does not apply to the US country yet.  So I am not sure if SAP has solution available.
My workaround is to user mvt 411K to move from consignment to own stock at the time of delivery picking out of warehouse.  Then, proceed with normal packing and GI.
Let me know if you have other better solution.
    Thanks,

  • Posting Partial Payments throught incoming REMADV - Payment Advice

    Hi ,
I am trying to post payment differences as partial payments whilst processing incoming payment advices via EDI using IDOC message type REMADV.
In table T076A (auto-clearing with payment advice notes), I have configured the company code with payment advice type "06" and set active the flag for "Partial Payments" (XPPMT), However, whilst processing payment advices through RFAVIS40, the payment differences are still posted as Residual Items - and NOT partial payments.
I need the original invoice item open and not cleared - with residual items the original invoice is cleared.
I have seen SAP note 309952, which states that payment advice notes created manually are processed as standard via residual items in case of payment differences. However, in my case, I am posting payment advices created via an IDOC and are of type "06", therefore I am expecting that they should be processed according to the flag in table T076A...i.e with Partial Payments.
Can anyone help with this issue? Or have experienced something similar and came up with a solution..
    Thank you in advance.
    Sandip.

Hello Shannon, At my current client, we are also having the same requirement i.e. incoming payment advices are posted via EDI 820 in the legacy system. Now we have to start brining these payment advices into SAP... were you able to get your issue resolved.... any help will be great. thanks.

  • Consolidation in special posting period

    Hi All,
I am using the Fiscal year variant April to March with 4 special posting periods in ECC. I am using the same in BCS too.
I am taking the data through LFDS with posting period move.
I am using quarterly consolidation which is period 3, 6, 9 and 12. However I have balances appearing in special posting periods 13 - 16 in source cube. My first consolidation is happeing for period 12. 2008
How do I take care of the transactions posted in Sepcial posting periods 13 - 16.
    1. Should I be running the COI in period 16 too. Should I be running it as subsequent consolidation or make period 16 itself as first consolidation.
    2. I am also thinking of making the changes in the source cube 0FIGL_C10 with an additional field called consolidation posting period and write a routine to update additional period field as 12 wherever the posting period is 13 to 16. Then extract the data into BCS for period 12 and have only consolidation frequency till period 12. Can I proceed with this approach ?
Pl give a standard and correct approach to be followed in case of special posting periods considering all the above facts.
    Thanks in advance

    - I don't think that you should.

    - I like the idea.

    - Didn't see such written approaches and doubt that they exist.

  • Weird case involving NTLM, Windows XP and the portal

I have a very peculiar case here for a few users.
The users have in common that they are all using windows xp (and just migrated), though most other person (even ones using windows XP do not have the problem).
We have implemented SSO to the portal, and done this using IIS on the portal servers. In front of that we are using IBM edge loadbalancers.
From a troubled user perspective, when the he opens the browser against the portal, he gets the portal logon page with a message saying user authentication failed.
I've found out what happens behind the scene and why the portal fails, but I can't explain it thoroughly.
The user's browser reaches the portal.company.com address. IIS requests NTLM login and after a few packets, the browser sends the user's userprincipalname ([email protected]) via the NTLM login (i've documented this in the network traces from ethereal). That the browser sends the userprincipalname is the core of the problems, all other user's send the SAMaccountname. The portal reads the NTLM information and parses the userinformation (here the userprincipalname) However, we have configured our portal to use the SAMaccountname when authentication against AD, and therefore the login fails.
If I use an DNS alias for the portal.company.com addresse, say aliasportal.company.com (actually portal.company.com is an alias for aliasportal.company.com, but don't let that confuse you), the same client that sent userprincipalname earlier, now sends the SAMaccountname and therefore gets SSO (and goes through the loadbalancer). And if I try to access one of the portal servers directly (without going through the load balancer), it also sends SAMaccountname. So basically, there has to be something with the address portal.company.com that makes the user's browser to send the userprincipalname.
Also, this problem is not tied to the user's profile, because if he uses another pc, it works like a charm.
<b>If you have any idea at all what could have caused this, please do contribute.. No answers are stupid (in this case). I am especially looking for details to what causes IE to send userprincipalnames, and what causes it to send SAMaccountname.</b>
Network sniffing(some minor changes to hide information):
This is the NTLM packet which "wrongly" contains the userprincipalname.

    Hi Dagfinn,
There are a few things I would check in the Internet explorer settings on the client, namely :
-The security zones (which addresses are in Intranet, Trusted sites, etc.)
-Check in the security settings if automatic logon with current username is enabled.
-Look if "Enable integrated Windows authentication" is enabled in the advanced settings.
Are you using Kerberos authentication? There's a long article on Microsoft's website about troubleshooting Kerberos errors which might give a few clues :

  • Stock is not get posted in Quality to Unrestircted.

    Hello Experts.
In our case Warehouse management is active. after Usage decision of any FG lot , stocks moves to QI to UR and generates delivery order in background and warehouse user does PGI against the delivery.
For some batches system is behaving erratically, sometimes system partially posts the stock QI to UR and sometimes whole stock in not moving QI to UR.
    Thanks in Advance !

    Hi Rahul,
After UD, System automatically creates Transport order (TO) for posting change notice if its a complete stock posting, on the other side in case of partial posting system does not create automatic TO.
Check the complete procedure followed by WM person.

  • Immediate TO for posting change

    Hi,
Is it possible to have immediate TO for posting change?
I have done the following setting in LE-WM Interface to Inventory Management: Assigned the reference movement to WM movement and checked the indicator for Create transfer order immediately -A.
I am able to manually convert the psoting change notice -> TO without any error. The system also works fine in case of Automatic TO. However the system does not create TO's immediately.
I have one  more question: During Automatic / Immediate TO creation, how does the system know the affected stock? For ex.
In case of transfer posting using 321, how will the system  select the source?
    Regards
    Deepak

    Hi,
I think the following may apply to your issue.
When you post a material document in IM, and movement types both "with" and "without" automatic transfer order creation exist in that document, the system does not start the automatic transfer order creation program.
