Perfomance issue - back buffer

I`m having trouble with the back buffer issue that has been fixed in Java 1.6. I`m still using Java 1.5. Because it`s a large system it`s not easy to upgrade over night.
Part of the system is a lightweight machine with a 400Mhz VIA Eden and 256 MB memory. During startup the machine has a lot of trouble with the back buffer issue, and it lasts for about 10 min and then the machine runs smoothly for the rest of the period. The GUI is still responsive during startup if you know were to push, but it`s not usable because of the gray rectangles. Is there any way that I can optimize the JVM faster, so it starts running more smoothly sooner? I`m already using -Xincgc. This is a real-time system, so performance is really important
If there is anyone that know any tips or tricks regarding this issue I would be happy to hear them

That`s not possible because this machine is the only one I available. It`s decided by the company that this is the machine we are using for all our systems as remote control. It takes over a half year to classify a new machine so we can use.
But it`s not a problem that the machine is to weak, it`s been running for over an hour now and the GUI is very responsive. The problem is the first 10 minutes after startup, before the JVM optimizes.
By the way the machine is running java 1.5.11 on Linux. This is suppose to be a "quick fix" before we have the resources to upgrade to Java 1.6 and the back buffer issue is fixed

               </h:selectOneMenu>
</h:panelGrid> The perfomance issue is whenever we pick a different value from the dropdown list Ajax4JSF onchange event is fired & the action method "loadManufacturerDetails" is invoked in the backing bean. This is perfect & expected behaviour. But prior to invoking onchange action method it invokes f:selectItems value binding method i.e. getManufacturerList in the backing bean which leads to perfomance issues as it goes thru Spring & Hibernate and hits the database & fires the query to get the List of Manufacturers everytime onchange event occurs & we were very much suprised with the wait time to populates other fields in the form
Any pointers/suggestions will be highly appreciated

  • Change pointer perfomance issue(bd22)

    Hi,
we are using message type HRMD_A to transfer the employee change data using the program RBDMIDOC. we are checking two table BDCP n BDCPS, but because of large number of data we r facing a perfomance issue here. I read in one forum about transaction BD22 which deletes the change pointer from these tables, but is it safe to use? and also what is the obsolete change pointer?
Thanks in advance for ur inputs.

    Hey,
It is advisable to reorganize change pointer tables at regular intervals for better performance of programs accessing the BDCP* tables.
BD22 is a standard report delivered by SAP and it is absolutely safe to run this report. It also has o test run option. You could always run the report in test mode to analyze the data the report had selected for deletion.
Obsolete change pointers are those which have been created up to the specified date and time. In BD22, if this checkbox is marked, obsolete change pointers will be reorganized regardless of whether they have yet been processed.
Processed change pointers are those which have been processed in the specified period (date and time). If this checkbox is marked, the processed change pointers are reorganized.

  • Perfomance Issue on Windows Server 2003 Cluster

    Hello,
we have a strange perfomance issue:
we have a single Windows 2003 Server for the XI Quality System and a Windows 2003 Server on production (both of them 32 bit).
When we transport an integration scenario 1:1 from quality to production we have to face serious performance issues. Perfomance on the productive cluster is approx. 50% lower than on the quality environment.
How could this be? Do you have any ideas?

    Hi,
It has been a while since the last time we heard from you, so I assume this issue is solved by now.
I will mark a reply as answer, please feel free to unmark it if it’s not helpful, and we will be happy to continuously support you.
    Have a nice day!

  • Perfomance issue after update to 10.7.3

    Hello everyone,
I have recently experienced major perfomance issues when it comes to graphical applications. I can't recall if it happened when 10.7.2 or 10.7.3 was released, but somewhere around then. And I can't determine if it was happening directly afterwards when the upgrade was done.
Watching a flash movie takes a lot of system resources and scrolling within the window the flash movie is barely possible. Before this hasn't been a problem at all. Playing a game, i.e Team Fortress 2, has gone from wonderful to non-playable. From having 60-80 fps to around 25-45 fps.
I am having a MBP 15.4 early 2011/8GB/2.0GHz. Running latest version of Lion 10.7.3
Anyone else that had the same problem? Anyone having a suggestion of what the problem might be?

Maybe it's Chrome. Maybe your update to 10.7.2 or 10.7.3 needs help. You could consider reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • Time capsule issues backing up more than one MacBook Pro

    Hi all,
i'm having an issue with a new 3Gb Time Capsule i've just bought and put online, I wonder if someone would be able to help please.
I am trying to back up 3 MacBooks, a 2011 macbook pro, a 2012 macbook pro and a 2012 Macbook Air, they are all running Mountain Lion.
My main macbook has worked fine and I have backed up the drive a few times without any real issue, however when I try and back up one of the other two onto the same Time Capsule, I get the error, "the backup disk image "/volumes/data/.sparsebundle" could not be accessed"
I've had a look around all the forums to see if I can see a potential problem and fix, however I can't find anywhere that says it works fine for the first backup but not for any other ones!?
The only other option I have seen is to completely remove the data backup and start again, but I don't really want to do that unless theres no other options.
Hope you can help, thanks in advance.
Oh and one other thing which i've seen, is that you can't backup more than one system unless you re-partition the Time Capsule!? Surely this isn't correct???

You do not have to partition the TC.. indeed you cannot..
But the issue with Lion or ML losing the sparsebundle is now as common as dust in a drought.
Yes, it can do a backup then fail to do another.. and there is no reason for it other than poor networking on later OS.
Reboot the TC.. and maybe the whole network. Reminds you of that initial support question for another OS.. did you turn it off and on again...??

  • Sleep and Battery issues-- Back to Tiger?

(Half of this relates to a thread of mine called "Dead Battery?"-- I tried all the fixes proposed and it's still unclear if my battery is fine or dead.)
I'm having battery and sleep problems that started after installing Leopard and I'm wondering whether I should:
    1) Go back to Tiger and see how things are.
    2) Format and install Leopard again (I didn't do that the first time)
    3) Do something else.
    The details are:
My battery shows 0%, the computer recognizes it's connected to the AC adapter, but "Battery is not charging" shows in the drop down. Coconut says the current charge is 0 of a maximum of 4164mAh (Apple System Profiler agrees with those stats). Yesterday it said my capacity was at 94% of it's original, but I pulled the battery last night to reset the PMU and now it can't give me the original capacity. It also listed 111 loadcycles, but now (post PMU reset) it and profiler say 0 Cycles. My battery was working fine the day before and would give me a few hours of use on a full charge.
My computer has also had issues coming back from sleep. The screen will stay sometimes stay dark, but repeatedly holding the power button will suddenly bring it back. I was using it this morning, closed it for five minutes, and when I came back it would make a noise (the mechanical "HD waking up noise"), give me 4 seconds of my screen, and then the screen would go very dark (but not completely out). If I held the power button I could get 4 more seconds. This repeated until I ctrl-apple-power and it restarted just fine. I've never seen my machine do this before.
I have reset the PRAM and the PMU and tried different power adapters.

I use SoundHound, had no such problem.

  • Z87-G45 Audio Issue - Back panel jack is staticy, front panel is perfect

    Hi,
Experiencing this weird issue with this board - up to date drivers on BIOS, Realtek and everything else. The back output jack of the board has trouble with higher frequencies and will produce static / corrupted noise reproducing higher frequency sounds (e.g. the Windows speaker tests). The frontpanel jack is perfect and reproduces everything. My "work around" is currently to use the FP jack, but I would like to fix the backpanel (same speakers).
    Any ideas?

You wouldn't believe it.. But I RMA'ed my board last week and got replacement on saturday.. Not only does I still have random ass DPC latency spikes all over the shop, rear audio jack is broken as per OP's. Left channel produces almost static while Right channel is fine and Front jack works fine, it would appear MSI's QA seems to be slipping on this board judging by various other posts of usb/audio/dpc latency spike threads.

  • I'm having issues backing up a new Mac with time machine and time capsule.

I've been trying to backup an extra macbook to the time capsule via time machine but the two sparsebundles (for two other Mac's) were taking up too much room.  I deleted a heap of old backups from one of the sparsebundles to create enough room.  The time capsule was still showing up as nearly full so I tried the method Pondini (God rest his soul) describes to "compact" the sparsebundle.  That didn't work (I got this message in terminal):
hdiutil: compact failed - Function not implemented
I've had many other issues which required hard resetting the time capsule twice.  And since then my wife's Macbook is having trouble backing up.  I'm beginning to think I should maybe get an external HD and move all existing backups from the time capsule to the external HD.  Do a factory reset on the time capsule and start from scratch.  I guess my question is, does this sound like the best solution and if I move all the old backups to an external HD, will they be accessible.

Yes, the old backups if they are working now will also be able to work from archive on USB plugged into the TC or into the computer directly.
Then do an erase of the TC and start over.
TM is becoming less reliable with each new OS.. and so far Yosemite is proving the worst by a big margin.
Strongly recommend that it is time to use Carbon Copy Cloner or some other software.
I use both TM to a TC.. and CCC to local usb hard disk..

I now laugh at BT adverts, We are the Worlds Leading Fast internet provider (SORRY BUT YOUR NOT!)
    Please fix this problem.

    Hi rogers1950,
I have checked a few things on your line this morning to see if there is anything obvious that could be slowing down your connection throughput speed.
The line hasn't been capped as you say and your exchange has hasn't been reported for having capacity issues, which is a fairly common factor in probems with slow throughput.
The stats that you have posted show the downstream speed and IP profile are all working well so at the moment the speed result looks purely the result of internet congestion.  I note that you ran the test quite late in the evening, right in the middle of our peak times, so I would guess congestion was the cause.
Try and run a few more tests via www.speedtester.bt.com, if possible one before peaks times, 5pm-midnight, and one during so I can see a comparison.
    Please post the results up
With a bit of luck last night was just a one off.
    Cheers

  • SRW2024P mixed speed perfomance issues

We purchased 4 SRW2024P Gigabit switches to replace our old fast ethernet switches. When testing them in a small network I found a strange behavior regarding mixed operation of gigabit and fast ethernet: File transfers from gigabit to fast ethernet (100Mbps full duplex) connected computers are far to slow, sometimes below 1 Mbps. Gigabit to gigabit was very fast as expected and 100 to 100 Mbps also was about the expected speed.
Then I found that the bad performance in mixed operation can be fixed by enabling flow control on any single port (even a non-connected).
Has anybody encountered a similar behavior with this or another switch?

I purchased 6 of these back in September, and if I could turn back the clock I wouldn't make the same mistake twice!
I have also had slow traffic speed, especially when using ghost, used to get 460Mb/min now I get 9Mb/min using these, I have tried flow control and QOS bandwidth etc, having spoken to linksys support.
I have now been told by them that this is an issue on mixed networks and that only a new firmware release will solve this for me!
