Performance testing of gateway of GPS enabled phone

Hi All,
We have a GPS enabled phone which uses Apache/Tomcat as the gateway server. We want to do Stress/Load testing on this gateway server for say 500,1000....users. This web server (Apache/Tomcat) is the phone gateway that allows coomunication from & to the phone. This server typically handles communication with the phone like GET POSITION, SEND MESSAGE, SHUT DOWN....
We are told to use the Motorola iDEN Emulator for i730 to emulate a phone. We have the GPS position information for the tests in a txt file.
(1) Has any one in the forum done this type of testing? If yes can you please send me ur e-mail ID so that I can discuss things out.
(2) Does the above mentioned emulator have the capability like we feed the GPS position of say different users & the emulator can transmit the data to the Gateway server or Will we have to write some piece of code to make this happen?
(3) Can anyone let me know of any load testing tool that can be used in this scenario?

hey, im starting this post to get info for me and for others because i believe that this is such an important feature in our nokia phones that we must maximise.
my question is, are there any programs where users can track there gps enabled phones from their pc?? Im sure all you nokia lovers would love to feel safe knowing that if your expensive smartphones go missing or stolen, you can track it down very easily.
i have heard of a shareware app called "phone guardian" for phones where the phone can be tracked via gps, however this can be removed via a hard reset. there must be a FREE way to access gps info of our phones at anytime from our pc without our phones needing to connect to any networks whatsoever and just the free gps satellite.
if ANYONE on this forum who knws anything about this topic, plz comment below because im sure every nokia user would want to knw the answer to this question.

I was exploring J2ME and trying to develop GPS based application for mobile. I found Motorola A835 and A1000 supports GPS. Now i was thinking to make a simple application for GPS enabled mobiles e.g at any time when server sends request to mobile, it will connect the application residing on Handset and get back the coordinates.
Also wanna know do i need any API's from 3rd parties like Nokia, Motorolla or its all in J2ME Kit.
Looking for your real help and if you can send any code snipet then it will be great.

OSB: Performance Testing

I would like to test our OSB Service for Performance. I have already done the test in SOAPUI . But my performance testing requirement is something like this below
Request and Response Flow :
The consumer sends the requests to
Consumer Level OSB (This enrichs the message) and routes to Orchestration level OSB
Orchestration Level OSB (Performs Orchestration ) by communicating with Data Layer OSB
Data Layer Level OSB (This one actually connects to provider database)
I would like to send a request from any performance tool that would give me the amount of time taken at each OSB Layer.

Enable monitoring on each of the OSB services involved in the flow. You can enable monitoring at service level, pipeline level or action level. Then run your performance test from SOAP UI or Load Runner or jMeter.
After that, you can monitor the statistics of each of the services in sbconsole dashboard's service health section. Depending on the level selected you will be able to see number of requests, average processing time, min and max processing time of each service/operation/pipeline/action etc.

Testing a gateway service with UDDI looked up service registered-Failing

Have you resolved the error message. As I am also getting the same error message. My webservices are BPEl web service (third party) but they work fine. I am trying to secure it using OWSM and getting the same error message. It works fine on its own.

Can I use a normal wap enabled phone for MI

Suppose I have a simple wap enabled phone like sony erickson
K310i or nokia 6600 or any other normal wap enabled phone will it support MI application.I mean can I use MI application in a normal wap enabled phone or it is only possible in blackberry phones or some specific phone models?

Object performance,need detail of Oracle's internal performance testing

Before I name some cases that objects perform better, I still
want to emphasize that your application object model comes
first. Here are the cases:
1. If you have nested objects (e.g., customer with address
attribute), querying the nested objects would work faster than
relational access.
2. If you have containment objects (e.g., customer with VARRAY
of phone numbers), querying these contained objects would also
work faster than relational.
What is your application? What does your object model look like?
The more specific your question is, the better I can answer it.

UI performance testing of pivot table

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a tool that I can use to do performance testing on a pivot table. I am populating a pivot table(declaratively) with a data source of over 100,000 cells and I need to record the browser rendering time of the pivot table using 50 or so parallel threads(requests). I tried running performance tests using JMeter, but that didn't help.
This is what I tried so far with JMeter:
I deployed the application in the integratedweblogicserver and specify the Url to hit in JMeter ( http://127.0.0.1:7101/PivotTableSample-ViewController-context-root/faces/Sample) and added a response assertion for the response code 200. Although I am able to hit the url successfully, the response I get is a javascript with a message that says "This is the loopback script to process the url before the real page loads. It introduces a separate round trip". When I checked in firebug, it looks like request redirect of some sort happens from this javascript to another Url (with some randomly generated parameters) which then returns the html response of the pivot table. I am unable to hit that Url directly as I get a message saying "session expired". It looks like a redirect happens from the first request and then session is created for that request and a redirect occurs.
I am able to check the browser rendering time of the pivot table in firebug (.net tab), but that is only for a single request. I'd appreciate it if anyone could guide me on this.

Performance testing of servlets / beans / jsp ?

Hi. I'd like to performance test my applications, anyone have a clue on what software to use?
I use Fort� for Java CE 3 as the IDE and TomCat 3.23 as the servlet / jsp container.
Hopefully there are some opensource tools to use for this?

You can precompile JSP's, this removes the small hickup when they are requested the first time (making the server translate and compile them). Check the documentation of your specific web/application server on how to do this.
Otherwise:
- buy better hardware
- use a better application server
- make sure your network is properly configured (so packets don't get routed around the network four times before they reach their destination for example)
- make sure your program logic doesn't create bottlenecks such as
unnecessary HTTP requests, redundant loops, etc.
- optimize your database access, use connection pooling
- optimize your database queries. Create indexes, make sure the SQL queries themselves aren't doing unnecessary trips around the database, etc.

Web performance test is used to test if a server responses correctly and the response is consistent with what we expected. And we test the response speed, the stability and scalability.
The Web Performance Test Recorder records both AJAX requests and requests that were submitted from JavaScript, but
web test does not execute JavaScript. I am afraid that you can’t use web test to test parameter past by AJAX or JavaScript.

From the first link, “Client-side scripting that sets parameter values or results in additional HTTP requests, such as AJAX, does affect the load on the server and might require you to manually modify the Web Performance Test to simulate the scripting.”
If you want to execute the function typically performed by script in web test, you need to accomplish it in coded web performance test or a web performance test plugin. Please see:

I am not sure what the ‘some attribute on the page’ is. If you mean that you want to test those controls on the page, you can do coded UI test, which can test that the user interface for an application functions correctly. The coded UI test performs actions
on the user interface controls for an application and verifies that the correct controls are displayed with the correct values. You can refer to this article for detailed information about code UI test:

1. What are the main components that need to be tested for performance?
2. What are the important transaction codes/external applications (if any) that can be used to do performance testing in both 4.6B and ECC6.0? (ST05 or ST30 or something else?)

All of the data should be on your computer, simply sync it back.
If the update was done via iTunes on the computer, the first step in the process is a backup of the device.
