Perl 5.10.1 package installed instead of 5.12.2-1

Hello,
According to the archlinux website the lastest packaged version of perl for Arch is 5.12.2-1.
which can be found here (http://www.archlinux.org/packages/core/i686/perl/)
I have updated pacman as of 21Jan2011 and the version of perl that is installed on my system
is 5.10.1.
Note the version of perl was determined by running
perl -v
What could be reason for this?

  • Automatically upgrade a package installed after the bundle is assigned

    Hi All,
I am trying out ZLM 7.3 and thanks also the helpful posts here I feel
    quite confident with the tool.
Mirrored the channel, assigned the bundle and the catalog for the oss
packages and done, the installed package are upgraded with the patches
    available with the bundle.
What I did not understand is the way to automatically upgrade a oss
package which is installed by YaST after the bundle is assigned. My
guess is, assign the catalog with patches to the device and whenever I
try to install a new package I automatically install the newest one. Is
this correct? Is there any other way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Jan

You are right, after refreshing the client with rug the new package is

  • Oracle DBMS_RAND package install on NT

How do you install the Oracle DBMS_RAND package on NT. Oracle 8i is installed on and NT box and I'm not familiar with the tools in this environment. Like - is there such a thing as svrmgrl? If there is then how do I get there on a Windows NT box?
    Thanks for any input
    JR Myint

I hope you are looking for the package DBMS_RANDOM (and not DBMS_RAND). It should already be installed. If you
do not see this package installed then you can run ${ORACLE_HOME}/rdbms/admin/dbmsrand.sql script to create
this package (you must run this script under user SYS).
Oracle8i should have SVRMGRL (Oracle Server Manager) installed (file SVRMGRL.EXE). You can go to DOS window and
type SVRMGRL at the DOS prompt to get Server Manager.

  • ARD fails CS6 package install

I am having a problem with pushing Adobe Design & Web Premium CS6 (created via AAMEE 3.1) via ARD 3.6.1 to client Macs that meet the system requirements of a CS6 package. After a long period of time attempting to install the package, ARD fails on "install package". ARD shows the problem as "could not be installed. Error message: "Running package scripts..." (In a couple of cases, the package install hung up at "97%" before failing with this error).
I can install the source media or my Adobe package ok from the local Mac, but not the network.
My configuration of the package within AAMEE:
    disable fonts
    disable EULA
    disable Adobe Product Improvement Program
    disable AIR
Ignore conflicts deploy to default directory
I download and add updates automatically
    Package is serialized
I will retest today, though I would like any thoughts anybody has on "general troubleshooting" or "best practices" that I may have missed. In my testing today, I will make sure to reboot the client machinge and keep it logged off while ARD pushes the package.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
There can me many reasons for failure. We need to see the PDApp.log file of the machine where install is failing to tell you the reason of failure. The log file is formed at /usr/Library/Logs/PDApp.log.
Please mail the log at [email protected]

  • How to list packages installed from /home/packages ?

Is there a way to see the list of packages installed from local repo ? I mean those packages made by myself using ABS & makepkg stored in /home/packages.

If they are not in any official repository, they are listed by pacman -Qm.

  • Cannot retrieve aur packages installed with yaourt

I accidently deleted /var/lib/pacman folder while attempting to solve my update issues (updating system after a long time) . I restored my local pacman database with the excellent guide in the wiki using /var/log/pacman.log  http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pac … l_database. I was able to update and restore my system. However, yaourt is not listing my installed aur packages. I re-installed yaourt and tried packer as well but it is not able to find the aur packages I installed using yaourt earlier to my update ( It is able to install and list new aur packages) . I can run the old aur packages  but I am not able to remove or list them. How can I list these lost aur packages or remove them completely? Is there a way to retrieve the database for aur packages installed with yaourt?
    Thanks.

    Hi karol,
    Thanks for your response.
Executing pacman -Qm only lists aur packages which were installed after I accidently deleted /var/lib/pacman. I am not able to list those aur packages that I installed with yaourt prior to my /var/lib/pacman deletion. I am not sure how the accidental deletion and this issue is related, but I would like to delete these old aur packages. One example of such an aur package installed through yaourt (prior to blunder of /var/lib/pacman deletion ) was chromium-browser. I am able to run chromium-browser, but since this package is very old I would like to remove it. However, neither pacman nor yaourt is able to remove it.

Chromium-browser is just one of the packages I remember having installed using yaourt prior to the /var/lib/pacman deletion. I would like to know if there is a way to find all such aur packages installed through yaourt prior to /var/lib/pacman deletion and if possible, delete them.
    Thanks.

  • [solved] list all aur packages installed

    Hi,
I'm looking a comman which list all AUR packages installed on my system. Man yaourt or man pacman don't help me (but maybe I missed something).
Is it possible to list these AUR packages ?

    yaourt -Q | grep local/
Works for me. I'm sure someone will have a better solution though.

  • [Solved] List AUR packages installed and only AUR packages.

Here's a good one.  Thought this would be easy but thought it over and then looked around a bit and haven't found anything.  There's might just be an easy way to do this that will make me *bonk* my head in the morning but I haven't found it yet.  I'm looking to be able to just list the packages I have installed from AUR and not any that I have gotten from the official repos.  I've checked out some utilities in AUR (like AURcheck) but as far as I can tell they just look for AUR updates.  Anyone know of a way to do this?

I just got to reinstalling and this was a lifesaver - it worked great.  Thank for the help, brisbin, ghost, Allan...
@Ghost, I would have used packup but I had a couple downgraded packages and I wanted to be able to troubleshoot it.
The tip about the grep -v doing 'shortnameplus' was a good tip, Profjim.  I hadn't read this last post before and during the reinstall I was a bit surprised nvidia wasn't installed so... all is good now.
I created a script to be able to create the backup list and restores from it simliar to ghosts and am able to run it in cron job.  Probably not a big deal, but... phhht.  Here it is for anyone that can use it:
    #!/bin/bash
    # pacbac - Create and restore from list all installed packages
    # Package list locations (official and local)
    pkglsoff=/opt/backup/pc-emach/arch-pkglist-official
    pkglsloc=/opt/backup/pc-emach/arch-pkglist-local
    # Exclude packages
    excldoff=()
    excldloc=()

  • HDD sometimes "hangs" and makes repetitive noises after package instal

So I installed Arch the other day on my old computer, after getting tired of Ubuntu's  slowness and outdated versions of software. But I seem to be having a problem. Now keep in mind that this HDD works fine at all other times, and the SMART data seems OK.
When pacman is actually installing a package (i.e. "(1/2) installing [package]"), the process sometimes hangs, while the hard drive is making a repetitive noise. This only happens directly after the package install. The system does not freeze while it is doing this. At all other times, the hard drive behaves normally and the system runs smoothly. Is there anything that pacman reads/writes to directly after the package install that could be causing this?
EDIT: This seems to be happening on removal of packages as well.

    - "click zzzzzzzz, click zzzzzzz, click zzzzzzz"
    - fire up Disk Utility. No HDD
Are those early signs of a dying hard drive?
It's definitely not normal behavior. The HDD could be dying, or there could be data corruption. Either way... not good.
I strongly recommend that you back up any important files as soon as humanly possible.
Get anything you need off that drive... and send the computer in for service.

  • CC keeps showing INSTALL instead of UPDATE - Mac

I need to know why Creative Suite CC Adobe Download Manager says 'install' for apps that are already installed instead of 'update'.
I have all the programs I need installed in my Adobe CC folder and have been using them for a couple of weeks. But the CC Manager says to 'install' instead of 'update'. I have searched forums for ages and not found an answer. Does anyone know? Thank you.
(I have tried waiting over an hour on Live Chat but constantly get 'your estimated wait time is 2 minutes and 19 seconds or longer.)

I ended up clicking the INSTALL on each and they re-installed. Have no idea why. But they are now all up-to-date.

  • ARD 3.7.2 package install failure + Packagemaker

I recently downloaded ARD in hopes that I could use it to manage the Macs on my network.  I am trying to use the "install" option but when I do I get the error "mypackage.pkg" could not be installed.  Error message " ".  That's not terribly informative.  My issue at the moment though is that I can't find a lof or report that I can use to troubleshoot.  Where is the error log?  Also, where can I get packagemaker?  I have googled around and some posts say that it can be downloaded from the dev's site (I could not find it there) and others say that it's included with ARD.  A few posts said something about Xgrid so I tried to download it from the app store but I keep getting an error that it can't be downloaded, please try again.  And help would be greatly appreciated!

Does your package install ok when you do it interactively?
The Console App on the target machine may have error messages that will give you a clue.
Often packages that work fine interactively do not work via ARD install. The fix is usually to repackage the app.
Historially, packagemaker was distributed free to developers as part of XCode. Not sure about pkgbuid.
You may also want to take a look at Jamf Composer. Its sold seperately from their Casper Suite.  We find it helpful for repackaging.

  • Does The Output From Cloud Packager Install MS Visual Redistributables?

Does The Output From Cloud Packager Install MS Visual C++ Redistributables? I have just noticed from the original media that it installs some MS Visual C++ Redistributables along with it and would like to know if it's still necessary to also install them separately after you install the MSI from Cloud Packager.
    Thanks

You must to view the section: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/install10202.html... there you will find all the information that you need for the installation in windows vista. I could to install the ODAC and i have not any problem.

  • Package install order

    Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has come across some doc that explains the order in which packages are installed into a non-global zone at install time. I have a third party package that adds an entry into /etc/inetd.conf but when it is installed into the zone (zoneadm -z test-zone install) the /etc/inetd.conf file is not there yet. Ideally I'd like the lucreate process to add this package once all SUNW* packages have been installed. Any way to achieve this ??
    Thanks,
    Craig.

I can now at least answer my own question!!
By doing a truss on the "/etc/lib/lu/plugins/lupi_zones plugin" process I was able to establish that during the "Determining zone package initialization order." sequence of the zoneadm command, the dependencies of all the packages installed in the global zone are checked.
I was then able to build in a dependency into all my home grown packages so they would be installed much later in the process.
    Cheers,
    Craig.
