I have a perm Siebel Architect opportunity down here in South Florida. The job description is below. Let me know what everyone thinks.
The Lead-to-Order Technical Architect works closely with the Infrastructure Technical Lead and the Program Team to support the design of solutions that support business process requests. The Architect will also support performance management for hardware and software, supporting the Siebel application. This role will create, adjust, and maintain best practices for High Availability, Failover, and Highly Reliable server architecture. The Architect will implement Siebel industry best practices and standards to implement complete business solutions. Will also lead all software upgrades, hardware upgrades, patches, and environment changes to support the needs of the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Architecture and Management all the Siebel Environments from Software and Server Administration perspective
2. Architectural Design, Development and Review of all the Major and Minor Siebel Releases.
3. Architectural Design for all the interfaces flowing IN and Out of Siebel environments
4. Application Performance Management from Hardware, Software and implement best practices for the same.
5. Application Design for High Availability, Failover strategy and Reliable server architecture. Implement best industry standard and practices to implement business solutions in Siebel Systems.
6. Lead any and all the Software Upgrades, hardware Upgrades, Siebel Software Patches implementation, Environments Clustering solutions etc. - Provide design for critical day to day fixes required in production system. Deployment of all the release flow and any deployment in Production.

Is the Verizon Network down in South Florida? Specifically Cooper City/Davie area? I can't place/recevie calls nor access mobile data.

Can a prospect be converted to an opportunity via the web service?

We have successfully integrated an ecommerce website with the Siebel CRM system. Orders feed into Siebel Opportunities and customers expressing an interest in products who fill the "request for more info" form are fed into Siebel prospects.
We want to upgrade the system such that if a customer placing an order is found in the Siebel prospects table, we want to be able to convert it into an opportunity via the Siebel web service. This would be the equivalent of clicking the [Convert] button on the relevant prospect via the Siebel web admin site, i.e.

It's important that we 'convert' it rather than delete/recreate as we want to track the conversion rate.
We've asked Siebel via the customer support area but they have not answered, does anyone know if this is possible?

I’m not sure if you’re asking a technical question or a functional question, but I don’t see any reasons why you couldn’t use a web service to generate a Siebel Opportunity.
Functionally, as long as you have a “Customer” and a “Product” relationship, you have enough information to create an Opportunity in Siebel. Technically, if the data source is external to the Siebel application, then a Web Service is a valid logical integration solution.
The caveat, of course, is that your technical infrastructure and business model supports this solution.

Poor signal in So. Florida

Having problems with dropped calls and signal strength in South Florida. VZ map shows solid signal, but told by VZ tech that I'm in variable signal area. ATT and TMO both have great signal here, why not VZ?

I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get a network extender, bratok! The range of a Network Extender is 5,000 Sq. Ft. If you're not getting a strong signal, even when connected to it, you may want to move it to another area of the house, higher or closer to a window.
While we are always working to expand our network, we don't have the details for specific areas to know what the timeline is for improved coverage.

Recovering data from Time Capsule after conversion from Snow Leopard to Lion

Had a problem with my iMac, which was running Snow Leopard O/S. Data was backed up on Time Capsule using Time Machine, although recent back-ups had failed (but earlier back-ups had been OK). Apple support determined that I needed to re-install the O/S and they walked me through it. After blowing away all data (believing that once O/S reinstalled, could recover from Time Capsule), the reinstall failed. Took to Apple store, where they installed Lion at my request. Then tried to recover from Time Capsule, but couldn't do so. Sparse file doesn't work (it shows 10GB, which is wrong as it had several hundred GB's before due to lots of photos). Apple Support couldn't solve issue, believes it was corrupted with the last backup. Ultimately recommended that I have professional data recovery service recover data from the iMac hard-drive (as opposed to Time Capsule). Spoke to recovery service recommended by Apple, and it is very expensive (also, given the O/S reinstall, anything they recover will have new file names and no directory structure). They also said getting data off the Time Capsule is even more difficult and expensive to recover. I'm not a happy camper.
I would welcome any thoughts on what to do. FWIW, I live in South Florida and there appear to be lots of data recovery companies locally, but Apple support had said that they have only a few authorized vendors that can do it without voiding warranty, so I'm reluctant to even call them. Your backups may be corrupted.
Try to repair them, via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
Mount the sparse bundle by opening the TC in the Finder and double-clicking on the sparse bundle. Drag the sparse bundle into Disk Utility's sidebar, and do a +*Repair Disk*+ (not permissions) on it. If it finds errors it can't fix, run it again (and again), until it either fixes them all, or can't fix any more.

Issues @ Tropicare, FL store and Open box inventory not found in store but on website

I went to the Tropicare, FL Best buy store on 3/2/15 to a Vizio 65' TV that I had seen as an open box item last week on the best buy website. I originally went on Sunday 3/1 to buy this model from the Florida city store but by the time I got there it had been sold and removed from the website. So when I get to the Tropicare, FL store on 3/2 and show the rep the Open-Box ID: 200002100650426. They tell me they cannot find any such listing. I told them to check another Open-Box ID: 200002100650349 for the same item. I figured since they have the item listed twice on the website both as Geek squad certified that there should be 1 available. They could not find that product either. I pulled up the information on my phone to show the rep. He proceeds to tell me they don't use the website to track inventory and that it takes awhile for the website to update. I found this odd since the other stores I went to on Sunday 3/1 when I had gotten to the stores the items were sold and the items were removed from the website. So I had the rep call another store to see if the last TV only my list was available. They told me it was not, so I checked the website and it was gone. I showed the rep this and they blew me off once again stating they don't check inventory via the website. I told him I find it odd that best buy wouldn't track inventory via there website. He proceeds to show me more expensive options. At this point I was tried of running around south Florida trying to find the Vizio model I wanted. I purchased a LG 65' for $799 which was from the weekly ad. But I wanted to know what the policy was regarding open box items, inventory levels, and availability.
I still would like to buy the VIZIO - Open Box - 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - Smart - HDTV - Black Model: D650I-C3 SKU: 1078018 Open-Box ID: 200002100650426 or Open-Box ID: 200002100650349. As of 3/3 the items are still on the best buy website listing them available for purchase. I would like to buy this item and return the LG I bought yesterday since it is the TV I wanted. BUt i'm afraid I'll run into he same situation of them not "finding" either of the items in there store in stock.
Any assistance or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Finding open-box items in fantastic condition is always an exciting purchase! To find that not only one, but two open-box items listed at the same store weren't available would be quite disappointing. I am truly sorry for any frustration that this may have caused you.
With that said, I was able to locate the open-box items in our system, and they would appear to currently be in stock. However, it seems that these items are reserved to fulfill orders that have already been placed. With that said, the store should be responsible for updating their open-box inventory to correctly reflect open-box items available. As you seemed to experience, these inventories can change instantaneously, so stores should be vigilant with these updates.
I apologize for any disappointment that this may cause you. Please know that I am reaching out to the Tropicaire, FL store to ensure they are updating their open-box inventory appropriately. If you should need any further assistance, please let me know.

Connection dropping for a few minutes randomly, reoccuring issue for months now

So my Too long, didn't read I'll just post now: Is there anyway to speak directly to an elevated support technician? I'm tired of having to spend half an hour each time I call just to get to someone who can tell me to do more than just reset the modem/router, and that they are sending a signal, and that they are "changing some settings" on the modem. And here is my full story: In december I moved into a different apartment. They hooked everything up, things worked ok for about 2 weeks. Then I would get this issue where my gateway would drop connection out of nowhere. The Power light would stay on, but the DS and Online lights would go off, and then come back on a few minutes later. This became a consistent thing (a few times a day, ranging from internet being out for 30 seconds to an hour). I called, they brought a new modem, worked for about a day, same issue again. I called again. They brought another modem. Worked for a day, same issue again. I called again. They came out, this time they changed the coaxel running to the modem from the outside. Worked for about a day, same issue again. I called again. They came out, guy checked the signals and all that, put a new splitter on, checked the box outside that is attached to the apartment building, that goes to the powerline on the street. He updated some wiring that was in there. This worked for about a few weeks! success I thought. A few weeks later, same problem. This time a tech comes, says he remembers being here (He was the guy that came out for the initial install) and said he'd put in a work order for a truck to check the lines on the street. He didn't even bother checking any of my equipment because he knew it wasn't my stuff. Well this seemed to do the trick, or so I thought. I never actually got a call or email or anything that the truck came, so I just assumed the truck came and they checked the lines on the powerline because my internet was finally stable for a month. And then yesterday. The. Same. problem. Comes. Back. I call, and for now the 5th or 6th time, I have to go through their resetting script, even though I clearly state my issues, what has been tried, that they determined it wasn't my equipment and got a truck to check the lines on the powerline, and they IGNORE ALL THAT AND DO THE SAME THING WE'VE ALREADY DONE, SEVERAL TIMES. I am thoroughly, thoroughly upset at this point. I don't know what to do. All I want, is internet that doesn't cut out randomly, for more then 3 or 4 weeks. I can understand it cutting out "once in awhile", maybe one time for a few minutes every few weeks. I'd be happy with that at this point even. But I pay 180 dollars for my tv and internet package. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Is there a different number I can call, or someone I can write to? I need to know how to get this issue looked at by the proper personnel, or have them taking it more seriously then just checking things one time and being done with it.

I experienced the same problems for a month or more. I was as frustrated as you sound. In fact, I told them that the only new package (Evidently they are required to try to get you to upgrade your service when you call for problem resolution) I was interested in was ATT U-Verse. (Grin). I was very frustrated. I took additonal steps. I ran a seperate Coaxial cable across the floor of my house to disprove the "House wiring is bad" theory. I bought a new modem myself because mine was a year or two old. And who am I? They may have been correct. And yet my trouble continued. Finally, after some very angry calls to some poor ladies and men in some unknown country, I was finally contacted by somone in my local service area (South Florida) last night. "Tech 1" came out and replaced my sevice line from the pole to the house. He was still not satisfied with the signal, so he passed it on to the next level. An hour later "Tech 2" showed up and adjusted some settings he could only access by going up in the air. I will say this, and hopefully not jinx myself, that my modem connects instantly now. Both of these men were professional, they answered my questions. They worked hard, it is 90 degrees today. Both of these men told me that they would monitor my connection status throughout the next week. My major complaint now is "Why did it take so long to get help"? Once I got through to the "Front Line" things got better really fast. All of this work was accomplished today, Sunday, by cheerful, friendly people who helped me. If anyone from Comcast/Xfinity monitors this, please, commend the two techs who came to help me today. Another good thing might be to dispatch these people sooner, rather than put an electronics technician like myself, through that same script over and over again for a #%#$%^ month. Yes I have the cable connected, Yes it is plugged into my computer, no there is no router, hardwired not wireless. By all means send a refresh signal. You can't see my modem, well my modem sees you!

Does Multipoint Server 2012 Support Remote Connections?

I'm currently running Server 2008 R2 Foundation, and am considering an upgrade. I originally thought I'd move to 2012 R2 Essentials, but found that it only allows 2 concurrent users, and RDS is not available (what a joke!). Anyway, someone suggested
that I try Multipoint Server 2012, but from all I can dig up, I can't find any reference to VPN or RDS. I'm a very small (2 person) business located in rural north Georgia, but I not only have local users (two of us), but also two or more clients in
south Florida connecting to my server via RDS.
Does anyone know whether or not Multipoint 2012 will support RDS type connections from afar - i.e. not on the local network? I'd be very grateful for some clear concrete information about that.

That, of course brings up another question in my mind; can Multipoint be in a Workgroup, so that it's not a domain controller? I have only one server box, and would like to keep it that way for both financial and spatial reasons. I simply

Using apple tv without an hdmi input

I'm afraid I can't be too specific since I'm here in New York and my TV is in south Florida. It's a Sony 50 inch (Bravura?) purchased in 2004. It is technically a rear projection set using 3 lcd screens.
There are a host of inuput/ output openings where the RCA cables would fit in the rear of the set and a number as well in the front of the set.

You can get a convertor to component but you will likely have problems with HDCP. I would suggest an HDMI Switcher or Splitter that takes two HDMI cables into one port. Just search HDMI Switcher or visit a store and you can pick one up pretty easy.

Website is not centered in Mozilla Firefox

Hello,
Our website was designed by a developer with whom we no longer can get in touch with. We have a small issue and we just can not figure out how to resolve it so we are turning to you for assistance.
When you open our website http://nflalumnisouthflorida.org in Internet Explorer it is aligned properly in the center of the page, however when we open it in Mozilla Firefox it is displayed on the left side.
I am sure it is a simple oversight when it was originally developed, however we can not find the proper line in the code to correct this.
Please help.

What is meant by CDA storage location? I hav to create report in order to generate report on Ageing analysis for materials in a CDA storage location? How can i?

I normally just create an executive summary for the past 30 days which gives enough information for them to see if there are any issues with the WAN. This report looks more professional than the rest but I also trim off some of the extraneous details I don't think they need or care to see. There's an option just before the end with check boxes you can either check or uncheck depending on what you want in the report.
I do wish there was a way to generate more detailed WAN reports though and I am still waiting for the ability to have control over the alert thresholds so that if my client sites go down for just a minute I don't get messages. In South Florida this happens all of the time and I'm bothered at least 40 times a day with emails I just don't want to receive. It's almost enough to stop using the product. Some would say I should just create a rule and have them automatically go into a folder so I don't get the alert but then when a site actually goes down for a long period of time I wouldn't know it. Unfortunately I have to check each and every one to see if it's a valid issue and it sometimes drives me mad. Especially when there is severe weather down here.

2015 VCDX Workshop Dates

Folks,
Below is the current list of dates that we would like to hold the 4-hour VCDX Workshop class. These do Coincide with the local VMUG's and are the day BEFORE in the afternoon so that people don't end up losing the day of the VMUG for the 4-hour session. We are in the process of working to find speakers for these. In the event we cannot get a speaker we will update the posting to reflect the status of the event. You will be able to register for these events via the VMUG registration system for that event. The dates listed are the day before, with the exception of Toronto which is the same day due to the short timeline. These will be the only dates we can support in 2015.
These dates represent approximately double the sessions held in 2014, and are officially presented and supported by VMware VCDX Employees. At this time these are the ONLY dates we are able to support at this time based on speaker availability and budget constraints. There is already an online version of the bootcamp series and we are working to get an updated recording from PEX2015 posted soon. Other dates may follow and the post will be updated if they do.

Spry in Wordpress

Greetings from Sunny South Florida.
The site i created contains a spry drop down menu which works fine when tested in dreamweaver but when i upload the site to Word Press the spy menu
doesnt work properly.
What it does is the whole menu bar moves up and down rather than just the drop down moving down.
What i did:
i created the file in dreamweaver as an html then saved as a php when finished,,, added a small line at the top of the file to tell Wordpress this is a theme
called "aboutpage".
Then i uploaded the file to word press theme folder and i uploaded the css and the javafile in to the same directory as the php file,,,, when that didnt work i copied and pasted the css and javascript in the word press root and just to test i ended up pasting them in all the directories leading up to my php file...
the fact that when i test the site in wordpress and the whole menu bar moves up and down rather than just the sub menu moving down tells me the page is reading the java scrip but im wondering if theres a fix for this or does wordpress not like dropdown sprys or is it the java?

I read this post and you know, I had the same problem. I used a Dreamweaver Spry in my html muckup and it worked! Beautifully. Once I sliced up the html into my wp theme, well, nothing worked.

I don´t understand. Even, I changed the image path in the Spry folder using the full path and it works on the Desing view on Dreamweaver but on the XAMPP app. Can you believe it? Do you know why is that?

Giving "One to One" lessons as a gift. Is It Possible?

Is it possible to give Apple "One to One" lessons as a gift? I may be able to obtain the Apple I.D. & password of that MAC user...or I may not. My aunt in New York City wants to give the "One to One" lessons as a gift to a friend, but the aunt rarely ventures far from her apartment due to health issues, so if the gift purchase was to be made, I'd have to purchase the gift at a South Florida Apple Store.When I tried telephoning my local Apple Store, I couldn't get past the voice recognition system, to get through to a human being, to ask this question.

One to One is available only at the time of purchase when you buy a new Mac from the Apple Online Store or an Apple Retail Store.
