Permissions in portal

Hi All,
Below is my project requirement
Once a user logs on to the portal Lets say that he will see a role  "ROLE1"
Once he clicks on this "ROLE1" then he will see a folder structure in the deatiled navigation
Lets say that there are around three folders
FOLDER1,FOLDER2,FOLDER3
Once he expands the folders he will see two iviews(iviwe1,iveiw2)
Once he clicks on first iview1 he will be able to view the documents which are uploaded using ivew2.
I am able to do this perfectly
My,problem is that who ever the user has been assinged with "ROLE1" must only be able to view the documents but he will not be given the permission to upload the documents only adminstartor must have the permission to upload the documents
Can anyone help me out how to restrict the user from uploading the documents...
thanks in advance

Hi,
You can change the permissions given to the users to access a particular portal content.
Go to System Administration -> Permissions. Open your ivew and change the permissions accordingly.

Becky.

  • Return Standard Permissions to Portal Content Objects

    Hello experts,
I was changing the Permissions of some portal content objects and accidentally I've modified the permissions of all the Portal Content Objects (including the standard objects). I clicked the "Reset child permissions" button of the Permission Editor of the "Portal Content" folder. Do you know any way to return the standard permissions?
Best regards and thanks in advance

    Hi,
If you have another portal then you can transport permissions from the first to the seccond portal.

  • Problems in Permissions of Portal

    Hi All,
I am facing a problem on my Portal. Currently I am using SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0. After all the required permissions have been assigned to the Roles, Worksets and IViews, the application doesn't open on the Portal. After I check the permission for the IViews, I find that the assigned permissions are reset and the entire process of assignment has to be done again, Please let me know why does this happen and also the solution for the same,
Also the role Super_admin is assigned automatically when a new portal object is created. Please let me know the reason for it and also the use of the group "everyone"
    Regards,
    Poojith MV

    Hi,
Assign everyone role permission to parent folder "Portal Content".
Right Click "Portal Content" folder and goto Open-> Permissions -> Search for Everyone Roles and assign.
we cant assign the super admin role to all users as it exposes portal administration to all users.so we assign general everyone permission to the parent folder which will be inheritated in all the subfolders and assign this everyone permission to users, then only that specific applications will be shown for the user.
    With Regards,
    Laksh.

  • What are the required permissions for Portal?

Assuming it's not top secret info, can anyone provide a link to, or list the permission requirements of OID with regard to running Portal? We are having serious headaches with permissions and would like some reference to the exact requirements.
    Thanks!

known_hosts should belong to your and your group
and the read write permission by default are 644

  • Assign Security Zone Permissions to Portal Role

    Hi all
I have created a portal role, say 'ABC', in my folder and assigned some users to this role. Now I want to assign security zone permissions for this role, ABC. When I try to do so, I am not able to find this role under 'Assign New Permissions' of permissions editor.
What more do I need to do to get this role for assigning permissions?
    I am using Netweaver 2004s.
I appreciate your answers with good points.
    Thanks in advance
    Tejo

    HI Fabien
Thanks for the reply. I tried with wildcard search. I am not able to find that role. When I search for all roles in permissions editor I see some 32 roles. When I searched the number of roles in User Administration tab, there are 55 roles( 40 in Portal Role datasource and 15 in UME database datasource).
I can see my role in User Administration window, but not in Permission editor.
    Thanks

  • Question about permissions in portal content

    Hi all,
I'd like to ask you guys a question about permissions given to pages in the portal content (EP 6.0).
When a user accesses a page that contains an iView (for example one for a Web Dynpro, or for a BSP), and the page permissions are correctly set for the user (or a group the user is member of), everything works fine and the user can see and use the application contained in the iView.
If the Page has no permissions set and the user tries to access this page, an empty page appears instead and the "Detailed Navigation" column appears on the left.
I know I should not let the user see the link to the page he is not authorized to use (this is done managing the roles given to the user), but I'd like to know from you if it is possible to show a message like "unauthorized user" instead of the empty page that appears.
Can you also tell me how to keep the "Detailed Navigation" column hidden on the extreme left?
Thank you for any hint you can give to me.
    Lorenzo

    Hi Lorenzo,
a way how you might go ahead and hide or show content for specific user groups is via roles merging (see documentation <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/53/89503ede925441e10000000a114084/content.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/53/89503ede925441e10000000a114084/content.htm</a>
In essence, this means that you create for example 2 roles (A and B): A contains some content everyone can see, B more secure content for another group. You merge those 2 roles via a merge ID - and if a user has both roles, he sees the content in this workset with all the navigation options. If somebody only has role A, he will only see this content.
Maybe this is someting that could help with you considerations (always depending on the number of items that are affected, this might be a useful way, or leading to too much confusion, because you have too much different roles).

  • Portal Menus and Viewing Permissions

    Hello and Happy Holidays!
At our Company we are considering using Portal Menus to allow
users to navigate through forms and applications they use for
daily work. The problem that we are faced with is that our
Developers need to be able to see what menu items individuals
have access to and at the same time NOT be able to alter the
code or permissions. We have tried a variety of different
permissions settings, but cannot seem to allow "view only"
access to the code and permissions for Portal menus.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish this through Portal
permissions or through scripts to get the data from tables?

    Which version are you using?
Have you checked the "About" link of menu?
Clicking on this will bring the Menu with SubMenus.
Click on different SubMenus to see the details.
If you are not able to solve this then pls post your reply again.
    Thanx,
    Chetan.

  • SRM 7.0 Catalog (Web Service) Portal Links Not Working

    Hi,
Following an upgrade to the latest Service Packs for SRM, we are encountering an issue with dead links to Catalogs (both Internal MDM and External).
Prior to the upgrade the normal catalog (webservice) links, as defined in the SPRO (Supplier Relationship Management>>SRM>>Master Data>>Content Management>>Define External Webservices)  would open a new window to either our Internal MDM Catalog or an external punch-out catalog.
After the upgrade these links are now "dead", no window opens and neither of the Catalogs open.
We are on the following release levels:
    Patch set SP 06 patch 01(Build 7.1.04.124 ). SMP is SP07 Patch01 (Build 7.1.04.134)
    Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Mike

    Hi Jason,
I am also facing the same concern. I have done all the below configurations
1.) As per the SAP note 1643978, I have configured the Launch catalog in LPD_CUST
2.) And the group access has also been assigned to the user as per the above note
3.) In reference to the folder permissions on portal content, the access has been given according to the note - 1260119
After doing all the changes, the external punch out catalog links are still dead. Could you please advise if there is any other activity which needs to be performed. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • New PAR file not appearing in the Portal Archive Selection list

    Hello Knowledgeable Portal Ones,
    I am on EP6.0 SP13.
A developer on the team created a new PAR.  It was uploaded, and it is now showing in my portalapps directory.  A super-admin for the portal can successfully create an iView using it (New from PAR), but developers (who have lesser security access) can not.  When developers attempt to do so, no portal archives appear in the portal archive selection list.  In fact, developers would not be able to create a new iView from any PAR.
I see that the portalapp.xml has placed the PAR in "high-safety".  I suppose this may be causing the problem.
How do I address this problem?
    Thank you for your feedback.
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
there are two known possibilities for this behaviour:
1.) Within the portalapp.xml, the property com.sap.portal.pcm.Category has been set to "platform". This should only occur if someone imported an existing PAR to modify it. Also see Browse deployment iview
2.) Someone has changed the permissions for application access (under System Administration - Permissions - Portal Permissions - Applications - <YourApplication> --- There the one who should create an iView from a component must have Read permission for the corresponding application, also see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f6/2604e505fd11d7b84200047582c9f7/frameset.htm - Administrator Permissions - For portal components
    Hope it helps

  • Portal Content Directory Invisible

    Hi,
I could not find my Portal Content Directory in my Content Administration. What could be the problem? Kindly help me out.
    Regards,
    Kalai.

The problem is due to lack of role as by default the portal content directory will permit only super admin role so if you have created user with out this role then you have to either add your user or the new role to the permissions of the Portal Content Folder....
You can do this by logging into the user with super admin role and add your user/role to the portal content permissions...
Permissions can be added either from System administration or from Content Administration ...
System Administration --> Permissions --> Select Portal Content and add your role or user
Content Administration --> Dbl Clk Portal Content Directory --> in the display select box select Permissions and add your user / role ...
this might help as i faced the similar problem ....

  • User restrictions for cFolder in portal

    Hi All,
I've cFolders integrated with EP.I've my multiple portal users mapped with one user in the R/3.What i understand is that what all authorizations is there for that user in R/3, it will be same for all the portal users who are mapped with that user.
Can I control this in any way so that inspite of all the portal users being mapped to one user in R/3, they have different permissions to perform different activities with cFolder content in EP.
Kindly suggest.Your efforts will be appreciated.
    Regards.

    Hi,
cFolders can be implemented by itself or integrated with SAP ECC.
And since in your case its been integrated with SAP ECC all the permission will be inhertied from the ECCC-r/3 User. I feel its not possible to override the cFolders Permissions in portal.
    Thanks,
