Personalization dialog in MSS My Budget

Hi,
We're having at bit of trouble modifying the personalization dialogs of the MSS BP (My Budget) - in particular the personalization dialogs used to communicate with the Report Painter/Writer reports of the backend R/3 system.
We are using the generic framework of MSS to access our own Report Painter/Writer reports but need additional variables in the personalization dialogs (EC-PCA-IS and CO-CCA-IS)
We've tried adding variables to the dialogs through the view cluster VC_CMPERS and they do show up in the dialog, but it does not seem as our reports can grab the values from the personalization.
Furthermore, we've tried implementing OSS 580864 and it worked but did not solve our problem; the user must be able to personalize his own variables, not just use default values of the system (as implemented by this note).
We us MSS 60.1.5 on SAP R/3 4.7 and have followed the instructions in the documentation of MSS 60.1 (the 861-pager version).
Any suggestions or hints would be greately appreciated!

I have smaal doubt about PAR file for Budget Consumption. Dow sis has any java course code. I have downloaded com.sap.pct.fin.projectbudgetconsumption.par file but it din't have any java source or related class files. If you have source with you could you please send me the source.

JavaScript error: Invalid Syntax in Personalization dialog (URL too long)

When personalizing some of our iviews, we get a javascript error: "Invalid Syntax". Doing a View - Source in the personalization dialog shows a very long URL being generated in the FORM ACTION attribute:

This URL is 2187 chars long - over the <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/208427">limit of 2083 allowed by Internet Explorer 6</a>.
How can we shorten this URL?
We can shorten our PCD path (currently 427 chars). But Portal is taking this string and making it 5 times longer; this does not seem reasonable to me.
Questions:
1. Can we control how Portal escapes punctuation ( . _ / ) from 1 char into 5 (!252e etc.)? This would save 720 chars.
2. Can we control how Portal duplicates the PCD path 3 times in this scenario? This would save 1406 chars (approx).
Tried enabling "Short URLs" - does not affect this length.
Environment:
- EP6, SP16.
- IE 6.0 on XP, SP2

I think you're stuck. All I can suggest is renaming the ids to shorted the prefixes...
Otherwise, implement a different personalization capability.

Personalization in ESS/MSS

I need to understand the concept of Personalization in ESS/MSS with the help of one example. Can anyone please help me in understanding concept of Personalization with proper example.

The concept of Personalization that I think you are referring to is Webdynpro Personalization
This is possible in Webdynpro JAVA by going to an area of the application and press Ctrl and right mouse button - in Webdynpro ABAP you select User Settings from the Context menu
This can be done directly at end user level (if personalization is allowed - which can be configured) - this will make UI changes directly for that user only
OR
If you do this in Admin mode sap-config-mode=X. or via SE80 in admin mode for WDA
- or PCD preview by a Portal admin for WDJ - in this mode you make UI changes for all users using that application - you can also define if end users can personalize this further
The changes allowed depend on the UI element you have selected in the application page - usually can hide or re-arrange the items

Custom Personalization Dialog

I would like to create a custom personalization dialog by cloning and editing the code for my iViews' standard personalization dialog into my iViews' par file Java class (using method doEdit).
I have been studying the Javascript (page support) and EPCM eventing functions, but I'm missing something - I can't seem to connect the dots from the iView data to the resulting personalization output. The portal component 'com.sap.portal.appdesigner.framework.profile' is somehow invoked, but I have not been able to identify what (or where) this component is.
My goal is to recreate the personalization fields and labels and the necessary buttons (save, close, et. al.) , maintaining the portal theme LAF, then make enhancements to this code.
If someone has knowledge of this process I would greatly appreciate some guidance (and gladly award points!)

Modifying Navigation in MSS My Budget

We are working on 4.7 Enterprise with MSS release 60.1. In the standard delivered iViews Critical Variance for My Cost Centers, there is no ability to select individual cost centers. In the personalization, I am using cost center group and cost element group. In the portal, I would have thought you would be able to "drill down" or expand a hierarchy of the cost center group to be able to select an individual cost center and see the critical variances. I see that it can be done in ERP2004, but is it possible in version 4.7. How do we set this up?

Custom Personalization Dialog for JSP Dynpage

Hi,
i have a JSP Dynpage Component with the bean. i want to allow the user to personalize the iView when they click the "Personalize" in the iView Tray. So i have implemented doEdit() in the JSP Dynpage class and setting a JSP in the doEdit(). But in the portal the iView is not bringing any custom personalization JSP when i click "Personalize" in the iVIew Tray Drop Down Menu.
doEdit() method wont work for JSP Dynpage ? is it only for Abs Portal Component ?

JSPDynPage is more elaborate version of the DynPag. It creates a JSP file and, optionally, a Bean class.
This means that the doProcessBeforeOutput methods are slightly different and there is an additional JSP file and an optional Bean class file. There are obviously other differences (such as the differences in the portalapp.xml file).
Just check with a sample Portalapp.xml file:
Ensure all the entries are made.

Budgets Numbering on MSS Screen

Hi Team,
We recently implemented ECM, at this point of time we are facing 2 issues.
1. when the CEO is logging to MSS and trying to do compensation planning for his direct reporting people from different org units. In the MSS screen budget column is showing the budget numbers. In my Dev & QA there are in line with Budget Unit ID.
Example: I have 5 Sub Org Units with following org unit numbers & Budget numbers in my Dev & QA.
Org Unit ID Org Unit Name Budget Number (on MSS Screen)
100000 Org Unit_A 1
100001 Org Unit_B 2
100002 Org Unit_C 3
100004 Org Unit_D 4
100005 Org Unit_E 5
Issue: The above bugdet number is getting reversed in my Production.
Example:
Org Unit ID Org Unit Name Budget Number (on MSS Screen)
100000 Org Unit_A 5
100001 Org Unit_B 4
100002 Org Unit_C 3
100004 Org Unit_D 2
100005 Org Unit_E 1

MSS: approve travel expenses of managers

Hello Experts,
could you please give me advices for standard-process within MSS (on NWBC for html; using POWL - no WF) for managers who shall be allowed to approve their own travel expenses. I was thinking of following opportunities:
1. Save travel expense in approved status -> nothing to do more for approval
2. Save travel expense in unapproved status -> daily report sets those in approved status
3. Approve their own travel expenses in MSS
Or do you know other/more practical opportunities?
Please also give me tips on how to set up the process.

There are multiple ways to achieve this, you can achieve it through config or by personalizing the WD screen.
Easiest will be to personalize the Web Dynpro screen.
a. Preview the Leave request application through Content Administration.
b. Press Ctrl+Right Click on the approver field.
c. In the Personalization dialog select Read only.
2. Instead of default Head of org unit as approval, can I skipped it to the another superior higher than him/her.For example i'm in org A. Org A under Support dept. I want to to set default approval for staff 2 level org unit above him/her.

MSS BW error: My Controlling Area (SAP Exit, CO Pers.) (*)

We're starting to set up MSS My Budget. When I try to run a BW cost center report from within My Budget, I get an error indicating that the application can't determine a value for "My Controlling Area". Please advise how I can fix this. Authorization? User Exit?

This problem has occurred AGAIN! I am at a loss of how to resolve.
E.g.
Hours posted = 168 (@ 50 Eur/hr)
Eur = 8,517.60
GBP = 75,396.72
The object currency is Eur however the controlling area currency is GBP. When converting back to GBP it is completely incorrect. Any help would be much appreciated!

LSO Personalize search using settings - where are settings saved?

Hi,
One of our users have lost his settings link that you can see after having done a course search in LSO. I think he lost it because he ticked "Include Settings in Search" in the settings / personalization dialog.
I now need to find the backend table where theese settings are stored for the individual user but I'm having some trouble locating it. Can anyone help?

Ess webdynpro java iview personalization problem

we have a problem with the personalization dialog of the ESS-WebDynpro JAVA Applications (f.e. CATS, WhoISWho, Adress...) which the end user gets with Ctrl-Right mouseclick.
Our portal and HCM Backend use language "DE" (Germany). The personalization dialog ist shown always in english. Is ist possible to change the language of the personalization dialog ?

If you set the language as DE for the User performing the Personalisation and if you get all the portal standard menu in DE, then it should show the personalisation Dialog in DE.
I had the same issue for Korean Language and i Did the personalisation successfully (text chage for Korean)
so i think it should work for you case also.

IView Personalization (Web Dynpro Java) for Anonymous User

Hello All,
Is it possible for anonymous user to see iView personalization (Web Dynpro Java) when personalized by an administrator? What I did was create new role and iView making available to anonymous user. This work fine meaning I can view iView using URL http://<servername>:<port>/irj/portal/anonymous . But the personalization I made to iView using administrator mode launching iView in preview mode and then using personalization dialog by choosing Ctrl and secondary mouse button to personalize is not showing. Iu2019m currently on EP7 SP15 and using iView type Web Dynpro Java for the development component sap.com/tcsecumewdenduser application name LogonHelpApp.
Any help is very much appreciated.

Yes, the Web Dynpro for Java Personalization is working perfect for non-anonymous users. The issue is when I view same iView using anonymous URL http://<servername>:<port>/irj/portal/anonymous the personalization is not showing just defaults back to the original Web Dynpro Java application settings. The iView that I created and personalized is the new Logon Help Dynpro Java application (LogonHelpApp). Is there some permissions that restricts anonymous user to view personalization?

Iview Personalization

How can I retrieve what value the user has selected from the dropdown box of the standard personalization Dialog when i insert custom proeprty attributes like:
with type as
select[red,green,blue]
in portalapp.xml
I can use
profile.getPropertyAttribute("color","type");
it brings me this:
select[red,green,blue]
But iam trying to catch the option selected by the user...
