Phone Designer Error

Hi,
I'm trying to use Cisco Phone Designer on my 6.1(2) CUCM Cluster. I did several tests, but the program fails every time with the same error: "An unknown error occurred on your Cisco IP-Phone".
I made a complete check of the config:
- IP-Phone "Phone Personalization" parameter: Enabled
- User associated with the Phone
- Username/Password tested (with ccmuser) successfully
- Phone Firmware: SCCP41.8-4-1SR2S
So I suppose the config is ok.
If I look on the application log files I find this error: 'CiscoIPPhoneError Number="4"'
Is this maybe a bug? Someone of you is using Cisco Phone Designer on CUCM 6.1 successfully?
Thanks for your replies.
Gio

Ciao Michael,
I've tried to trace the error following your suggestion. Here below the output of the trace during a 'Ring Tone change' test:

As you can see at the beginning Phone Designer program applies correctly user credentials (and discover for example that this user control 2 devices), but then in a second phase, when it tries to send the new ringtone, the UserID parameter is EMPTY
Why?
Do you have still some suggestions for me or you think it's time to open a TAC request?
Thanks again for your help.

  • Phone Designer compatibilty with 9.x phone firmware

    Hi all,
There have been several posts in the past surrounding errors in Phone Designer, but I wanted to see if I could get confirmation.  I'm running a two node UCM 8.6.2.21900-5 cluster.  I was getting new reports of the usual "unknown error with your IP Phone" problem from end users when trying to apply background images to their phones, and finally got some time to troubleshoot.
I'm testing this from a Windows 7 x64 laptop, running Phone Designer 7.1(3) SR2.  I'm using the .NET commands found in this thread to get around the 32-bit limitation of the software:  https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2030926
With a 7965 phone running the latest SCCP firmware, 9.3(1), Phone Designer errors out.  I've confirmed the usual suspects aren't the issue (personalization, web access, etc.).  Reading through some other threads, downgrading the phone firmware was a suggestion with a decent success rate.  I loaded 8.5(4), and Phone Designer works without issue; loaded 9.3(1) again, and Phone Designer is broken.
I suppose my question is, is this a known limitation with all the 9.x firmware releases?  Or is something else at play here?
Hopefully I didn't miss the answer in another thread.
    Thanks for the help!

    Scott,
I have a TAC case opened and got a respones that phone designer is not compatible with CM 8.5 and above. That doesn't make sense as we are at 8.6 and it had been working with the 9-2 firmware. I have pushed back to TAC and await a response. This is the doc they referenced.

  • Can I install Phone designer for all user?

    Hi
I have phone designer application I install it on my PC but when I install it for anther user and give me error Unable to connected to server.
Is there any parameters needs to check on CUCM?
How many times can I install it?
    Thanks
    Kaff

You can install it as many times as you want. Ensure that either the cluster-wide parameter or the device-specific parameter is set to allow phone personalization. After that, if it works for you it will work in general; don't forget to enter the CCMCIP server address in the client.

  • Phone Designer and InformaCast???

I am trying to use Cisco Unified Phone Designer 7.1(3) with my 7975 and CUCM 6.1(4).  we also use InformaCast 6.
InformaCast requires that the phones use the InformaCast server for authentication.  However, I find that when the phone has the IC URL for authentication, I get "Unknown Error" when I attempt to upload a wallpaper or ringtone to the phone.  It works fine when I change the phone to use the standard CUCM Auth URL.
Is there any was to maintain the IC URL and work around the authentication issue?
    Any help is appreciated!!!

In informacast under telephony configuration, there is a URL you need to enter for the "next authentication URL".  that should be something like below.
    http:// ip address>:8080/ccmcip/authenticate.jsp
    Did you set that?
So if you have informacast set as your url authentication in CUCM and informacast recieves a authentication request not meant for it, then it will forward it to the url specified in "next authentication URL.  Hope this helps and please rate, thanks.

If configuration was good, we'll need packet capture between CUCM and IP phone.
On CUCM, you may use command "utils network capture file cucm count 100000 size all host all 192.168.1.100".  Where 192.168.1.100 is the IP address of IP phone.
For the phone, you may enable "SPAN to PC" option from CUCM and do the capture with a PC.
Or if it's possible, you may plug the phone into the same subnet with CUCM.  See if that makes any difference.

The DLL was craxdrt.dll from Crystal Reports 8.0 ActiveX Designer, which was version 8.0.1.0 from 1/28/2000. This DLL should be updated to see if this issue has already been fixed. Other options are to recycle IIS more frequently and move to a new version of Crystal Reports."
Here is a detailed analysis from Microsoft Support:
The issue appears to be heap corruption. Normally these are difficult to troubleshoot, however, in this case every memory dump that I looked at had the same component involved.

This component is from the year 2000 and needs to be updated. I searched our old cases and found several where old version of this component caused the same heap corruption.
Please help as this is a production issue. Please let me know if you need any more information.

Something must have changed. Were any patches or auto updates done to the OS?
CR 8.0 has been out of the support cycle for some time now.
As Microsoft suggested please log in and download the patches for CR 8.0 from:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-support
If that does not resolve the issue the only option will be to schedule sn IIS restart each night.

  • In design error

Because my IN DESIGN Italian version one time installed on my PC it is installed as the English version.
How can I resolve the problem.
I used IN DESIGN with BLURB plug in.
    Thanks
    Vittorio Necchi

Jeff the version of my IN DESIGN is CS5
My operating system is Windows 7 and the language correctly installed on my operating system is Italian.
The strange thing is that if I install the same version of IN DESIGN on another PC, it is installed correctly in Italian.
I think that the use of the Blurb plug in, has changed some setting somewhere.
    But where?
    Thanks for your help.

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

Hi, this is not just HP, all products with the Sandy Bridge processors have to be replaced and the motherboard fixed.
Not true, did you look at the link I posted above, Intel listed the processors and related bad chip this problem is related to, and it is not all of the i3, i5, i7 sandy bridge processors.
Here is the official list from Intel, there is a lot of misinformation out there, but i think Intel would know for sure for some reason don't you?

  • IS-Retail: design error of u0091general assortmentu0092 concept&POS Outbound WPDWGR

    Hello
I have found a design error of ‘general assortment’ concept related to POS Outbound WPDWGR, but may be you could help to understand why system is designed with error.
Both 'Store Business Offline (ePOS)' and 'Assortment Management' are recommended by SAP as 'best practices'.
'Assortment Management' recommends to use assignment of merchandise categories with general assortments, REFSITE and WSOA6. This documentation promotes concept of 'general assortments' and assignment of assortment users.
IDoc WPDWGR 'Download merchandise categories' is recommended in 'Store Business Offline (ePOS)' best practices for Retail. Program that generates this IDoc knows nothing about general assortments, REFSITE, WSOA6. It uses old assignment of merchandise categories to local assortment in WB02 or WB30. It was not updated to be compatable with 'general assortment' concept.
There is no warning in documentation that if customer will use one of 'best practices' for Retail then another will be not applicable.
    Assortment management:

Does anyone faced this problem and have any ideas how to solve it through SAP Support?
Does anyone has experience of solving long-time 'ping-pong' OSS customer messages with SAP Support?
    Thanks in advance.
