Photoshop CC 2014 - "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialised".

This problem has just started, only with CC 2014. It doesn't happen with CC or CS6.
When I open a particular layered file, then Duplicate it, then close the original Master file I get the "text engine" warning box when I try to enter text in the copy file.
If I enter text in the original Master file - no problem.
If the Master file is still open and I try to enter text in the copy file  - no problem.
I've validated all my fonts in Font Book, deleting all the duplicates and one corrupt font. No change to problem.
I've gone to User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC2014/ and trashed the CT Font Cache folder. No change to problem.
I've run PS Update.
Running OS 10.9.3.
Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue on my work computer. I found this info in Adobe's help section.
Issue
When you use the Type Tool, you receive the following error:
"Could not complete your request because something prevented the text ending from being initialized."
To the top
Solution
Close Photoshop, clear the font cache, and restart.
Exit Photoshop.
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC/CT Font Cache folder.
Move these two files to the Recycle Bin:
AdobeFnt_CMaps.lst
AdobeFnt_OSFonts.lst
Empty the Recycle Bin.
Restart Photoshop.

Additional information
This issue can occur after you uninstall and reinstall Photoshop several times.

This keeps appearing. I tried to uninstall and redowload and it still keeps happening.

Most likely you have some corrupt fonts installed.
Try validating the fonts using FontBook to find the most obvious problems.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended Could not complete your request because of a program error.

When starting Photoshop CS6 I get this error message, Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended  Could not complete your request because of a program error (-- OK --).  This happens on the main screen immediately.  Once I click OK the program seems to be alright.  But some part of it, that I haven't discovered yet, may not function properly.
I am running Windows7 Professional Service Pack 1 64 bit with Intel i7-4770k CPU and 16 GIG Ram.
This problem just started recently, everything has been fine up till now.  I must have done something when trying to defragment the Registry or get rid of temp files.
I have uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and reinstalled it with no effect.  I have tried to run Photoshop CS6 32 bit in Safe Mode, but it will not run.  It hangs up on Reading Memory.
Is there any kind log file that would tell me what is causing this to occur?
Does anyone know what might cause this?
Thank you in advance for any helpful information.

Did you reset your Preferences and Photoshop tools.  Photoshop Preferences are not removed with an un-install and an Install does not install preferences.  Preferences are created  for a user id when a user ID start Photoshop  and there are no preferences for the user ID.

  • NEF "Could not complete your request because it is the wrong kind of document"

I have just installed Lightroom 12.1 with all current updates on W7 64bit and now cannot open the Nikon D5200 raw (NEF) files. I get the message: "Could not complete your request because it is the wrong kind of document" although they open successfully in Camera RAW on Vista 64bit PC with the same version of Elements. In order to work with them, I have had to convert to DNG and open in Photoshop CS5, which doesn't support D5200 RAW (NEF version).
This is causing me a serious problem because I need to migrate all of my work to the new W7 system.

That was the exact wording of the message, and I tried many times with many NEF files; but I just went back to the PC after entering the Forum question and everything works fine. The NEF files open from both my D5000 and the D5200. The pc wasn’t re-booted in the mean time, so I really don’t understand why it works now and didn’t 15 min’s ago!
I’m sorry to have disturbed you – maybe I should just have gone to lunch and tried again later. – I am a computer specialist/consultant, by the way, so I do know what I’m talking about.

  • Photoshop: Error message 'Could not complete your request because of a program error.'

Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 on Macbook Pro with Retina Display. I am an inexperienced user.
While using Content Aware Fill I receive this message. I have tried opening Photoshop without plugins (holding Shift key while loading) but this does not seem to resolve the problem.
    Can anyone offer any suggestions?

    Hi,
Thanks for the information. I tried it and the message "Could not complete your request because of a program error." comes up when I open the program or try to do anything in the program. So when I went to edit preferences it pops the same message up. It won't let me do anything in photoshop. I am up to date on the operating system but that didn't fix it either. Any other ideas would be appreciated. I cant use photoshop on my main computer at all!
    Thank you!

  • Photoshop elements editor Could not complete your request because fo a program error

I am running PSE 8.0. On some of my photos I cannot save the image.
Even if I do no editing on the photo and just do a "save as" in a completely
different folder I get the error message Could not complete your request

I have set the RAM preferences to 1100MB and the history states to 20.
    What is the program error?
Looking at the discussion forum, this problem has been there since 2007.
    Doesn't Adobe fix its software?

I would suggest you to reset the preferences file of photoshop elements and then try. Follow these steps
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.

  • Photoshop CC 2014, "Could not complete your request b/c program error"

I've not seen this since the early CS days, and generally found Photoshop CC to be extremely stable.
However since starting to use CC 2014, I've had this happen six times - not in a row, just at random occasions doing completely unrelated things.
Exactly three times it's happened on PC1, and three times on PC2.
    PC1
    980X i7, 24GB RAM, Quadro K5000 (332.76)
    PC2
    Xeon x2, 128GB RAM, Titan Black x2 (337.88)
Both installed on SSDs, with external SSD scratch drives (plenty space free).
I figured it may be prefs migrated from CC, but PC2 is a clean install (and no cloud syncing, it's just running in trial mode at the moment) so I guess I can cross that out. Also there don't appear to be any posts reporting this since CS6, which makes it a bit strange that I get it happening on two unrelated installs.
So, being at a loss, does anyone else have any idea why this might be happening?
    Cheers

Thanks for your reply, as it means I can post one of my own - I was
logged out immediately after posting my AdobeID wasn't being recognised
so I couldn't edit my own post to add more detail...so I can now, but
anyway don't get my started on that.
So yes I know more information is needed. As for searching for
vagueries, there's a big difference between "Blue Sky" (very good anime
movie) and "Forum poster ate my dog and spat it back in my face,
    site:adobe.com".
Here are the specific events in order, over a period of the past week:
    1. Selecting a layer.
    2. Pasting a 512x512 image from clipboard into a layer
    3. Dragging an image from disk to the canvas
    4. Selecting a layer
    5. Trying to apply guassian blur filter (error on selecting the panel.
    6. Selecting a path.
This is in Windows 8.1, working on RGB 8bit/channel documents with a
reasonable number of layers (>50,nested). There's nothing special about
the documents, no TypeKit fonts or Smart/Linked Objects (exception being
#3, trying to drag an image from desktop to the active doc).
All documents affected were less than 4,000 x4000 pixels, and the errors
only affected the active document - other open documents could be saved,
    even edited, and closed safely.

  • Photoshop CS6 error "Could not complete your request because of a program error."

I got this error today.  I am on PS CS6 version 13.0.06 x64.  Running on Mac OS X version 10.9. Installed the new Maverick on November 10 and not sure if that has anything to do with this.
In PS I get the error above when I go to File/Open and look for a photo file to pull.  Before I even get a chance to chose a file the error pops up and does not let me go any further.
Also if I am in LR5 and send a photo to PS through Photo/Edit in/Edit in Photoshop CS6 it will open it.  However, when I go to save as JPEG the folders just disappear and brings back the photo and does not allow me save.
Not sure if they both have something to do with each other.  Curious if anyone has the new Maverick on their Mac and have this issue or just a coincidence and it is something else.  Either way hope someone can assist.
    Thank you,
    Michael

Not sure if this is the same issue, but there is a bug in Mavericks where when you go to file save the menu dissappears if I remember correctly.  The solution (until fixed) is to change the View from CoverFlow to another like List.

  • Photoshop CC & CS6 "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

So apparently quite a few people have been getting this error message but not necessarily for my unique predicament. I am using an early 2011 Macbook Pro OSX 10.9.1 and I'm using Photoshop CC 14.2.0. Whenever I try to open a video file I get the error message. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, PRAM reset, preference reset—no fix. Even loaded CS6 13.1.2—have the same issue as well as whenever it opens. Even tried it on a newer macbook pro—same issue. Calling Tech support wasted over 4 hours of my life. Please help! Have assignments to do. Thanks.

Well, what do you need to know about my system?
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    12GBs DDR3 RAM
AMD Phenom II x6 3.2GHz CPU
    ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
EVGA Nvidia GTX 570 2.5GB Edition
Like I said, this happens simply whenever I open Photoshop. I can click the pinned icon on the Taskbar; launch it from RocketDock; open it in the Start Menu; or open it by double-clicking a PSD file. Regardless of how I open it, it displays that error message.

I tried to update and it keeps telling me to get the Application Manager. And this is what happens
Adobe Application Manager failed and it told me to download the Adobe Support Advisor.
Adobe Support Advisor told me that there was an issue:" cpsid_82829s1: "A restart is pending," bootstrapper error has occurred. "Token Number: 40-87772-063201122012
I followed the instructions it gave me to correct this issue:
If you receive the error "Installer has detected that a machine restart is pending. It is recommended that you quit the installer, restart try again," do the following:
#Restart the computer and try the installation again.
#If the installation fails, delete the InProgress registry key:

    Launch Windows Registry Editor.
(Windows XP) Choose Start > Run, type regedit in the Open text box and click OK.

  • When opening a file in Photoshop CC I get 'Could not complete your request because of a program error.'

I can see this is a generic error message('Could not complete your request because of a program error.') and I have done my best to read through many of the responses.
It occurs on the second, third, or sometimes fourth file that I try to 'Open', however I can still use the 'Open With' command through Finder.
I have tried resetting the preferences as per Julieanne Kost's recommendations, I have reinstalled Photoshop CC 2014, Generator isn't turned on, I don't have any Third-Party plug-ins loaded, I have tried running it in Safe mode, and I have reset my iMac's PRAM.
    Photoshop doesn't appear to be writing a PSErrorLog.txt file?   (~/Library/Preferences/Photoshop CC Settings/PSErrorLog.txt)
I haven't had any other issues.
I am running Photoshop on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2.
    Please can you help me?

Does anyone have any other ideas as this is very frustrating.

  • Error:  "Could not complete your request because of a program error" (photoshop CS2 9.0.2 on MAC OSX

Today I started my program (photoshop CS2 9.0.2) and opened a JPG file. When I went to print the file the program crashed and closed. When I restarted the program and went to open the file I got this error message, "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
I have tried several different file types/sizes and all result in the same error message since the program crashed. It will not open any file I try to open. As I indicated above I am using Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 it is on a MAC with OSX 10.4.11.
I called Adobe and the Rep directed me to Tech Note 331307 and told me to Re-create the Photoshop preferences files. Which I did and restarted the program, but when I tried to open a file (any file) I still get the same error message so it doesn't appear to be the preferences.
Does anyone have any info as to what the problem may be and how to correct it.
    Thanks

Thanks for the response. OK... This is the first day I have been able to get back to the problem.
My system I am running Photoshop on is a Power Mac G4, AGP Graphics ATY Rage 128Pro chip set 16MB VRAM LCD 1280x1024 32-bit color, 500MHz, 1.75GB of memory, 1 MB L2 Cache, 100 MHz Bus Speed. I had installed the latest security update and repaired the permissions the day the problem started.
Now to day I started the system and went in and created a Guest Account. I logged into the guest account and started Photoshop. Low and behold it worked just fine. So I logged out of guest and logged into my main user account And started Photoshop. Wouldn't you know it.... It works just fine. I can open any file I want with now problems.
I got to thinking after I had done all of this that I wished I had tried to open a file in Photoshop today prior to creating the guest account to see if it still had the problem in my main user account.
I did not change anything else on the system and all seems to work fine now. So at his point I am really not sure what the problem was.
Again thanks for taking the time to respond to this issue.
