Picklist field

Hi,
In your implementations, have/had you a picklist field with more than 1000 values (active+disabled)? ..at any time (../R12/13/14/)
Paddy

At times using Cascading Picklist can change 1000 values to 10 + 100 or 30 + 30 or may be 100 + 10 values making it easy for the users.
Maybe a Custom Object can also help.

  • SOAP Error When Referencing Indexed Picklist Fields

You may receive the following error, or something similar, when trying to access the "Indexed Picklist" fields via webservices.
<siebelf:errormsg>Method 'SetFieldValue' of business component 'Opportunity Copy No Sales Process' (integration component 'Opportunity') for record with search specification '[Name] = "Hay man"' returned the following error:"The value entered in field Indexed Pick 1 of buscomp Opportunity Copy No Sales Process does not match any value in the bounded pick list Occam Indexed Custom Opty 1.(SBL-DAT-00225)"(SBL-EAI-04375)</siebelf:errormsg>
This error can be caused by searching for a picklist value that doesn't exist. In many cases, the picklist values are valid, but the developer is accessing the wrong picklist. This is a common mistake because the user interface, and WSDL files are a little different. Indexed Picklist 1 in the user interface is really IndexedPick0 in the WSDL definition file, not IndexedPick1 like many people would think.
    Indexed Picklist 1 = IndexedPick0
    Indexed Picklist 2 = IndexedPick1
    Indexed Picklist 3 = IndexedPick2
    Indexed Picklist 4 = IndexedPick3
    Indexed Picklist 5 = IndexedPick4
    Indexed Picklist 6 = IndexedPick5
Below are the tests I ran when testing this issue, both SOAP requests and responses.
    ==========================================================================================================================================
The value "Will" is a valid value for the indexed picklist 1 in the admin screen.... I receive the error because I should be looking in IndexedPick0, not IndexedPick1.

  • Arithmetic operations using Picklist field values

    Hi,
I tried to multiply a picklist field value as below and wanted to store the result in a field (datatype = Integer or Number) using a workflow which triggers based on the Trigger Event "Before modified record saved".
    Criticality = [<plFrequency_of_Occurrence_ITAG>] * 10
    It throws an error:
"Update Criticality : Value too long for field 'ZNum_0' (maximum size 16). (SBL-DAT-00235)(SBL-ODS-00500)"
Can't we do arithmetic operations on the Picklist fields? I believe this is because the values are being stored as text??
Do we have a function to convert the character field to numeric before we perform any arithmetic operations?
    Thanks,
    Sriram

    Hi,
You're right, you can't perform arithmetic operations with a number and a text. That's why you get the error.
Today, there's no function you can use to convert a text to a number.
You'll need to create a SR asking for a Change Request.

  • Multi Language- Picklist fields are displayed only one language for Reports

    Hi!
I am working on Siebel On Demand with Multi Language (English and Spanish) and it works well for web interface, the automatic translation for picklist works properly.
However when I create any report (with any Record Type) the fields setup with picklist are displayed only in spanish language even though I am on English mode.
Have you any reference(s) or previous experience(s) on that?
    Thanks in advance
    Mtb

    Hi,
in reports the language of the picklists corresponds always to the company default language.
The only solution I now (its really static and not so nice):
Create one report per language and change the picklist field by using CASE statements...you see its hard to refresh if you have lots of values :)
    cheers

  • Workflow Action to update Picklist field

    Hi,
I created a workflow. I want the workflow to do the following.
    Workflow Conidtion*
If Condition is PM20 Bid Decision or PM20 No Bid then perform workflow actions.
[<plMileston_ITAG>]=LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_OPTY_6", "PM020 Bid Decision") OR [<plMileston_ITAG>]=LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_OPTY_6", "PM020 No Bid Decision")
    Workflow Action*
    FieldValue('<plProject_Category_ITAG>')=LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_OPTY_2", "A")
I tried various combinations of using FieldValue,Just by putting the FieldName = A. Nothing works..I know the workflow Condition is working because when I update a free form text I am able to append the field. When I try to update a Picklist (Editable) it does not work. Dont know the reasons.
Also what is the standard way of updating a Picklist field using workflow.
Thanks for your help in advance
    Gautam

    Hi !
I assume you created a workflow with the event trigger *"Before modified record saved"*.
Then you action Update values must be :
Field Name : select the picklist you want to update
    Value : simply put LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_OPTY_2", "A")
Overwrite Existing Values : check the box it if you want your picklist updated even if already filled
You don't have to repeat the fieldname in the value field of your action. It seems that you put FieldValue('<plProject_Category_ITAG>')= in the value field, but with that, it will not work.
Hope this will help, feel free to ask more !

  • The picklist field //BTCATEGORYFIRST/CAT01 has no valuehelp descriptor

    Hello everyone,
We are freshly starting our development system for CRM7 Service.
I have configured Categorization Schemas for service request and I have the following dump :The picklist field //BTCATEGORYFIRST/CAT01 has no valuehelp descriptor.
I have read some OSS Notes about the error "The picklist field //BTCATEGORYFIRST/CAT05 has no valuehelp descriptor" but it cannot be applied to our system as category 01 exists in our service request view.
Furthermore, when creating service request in a standard business role (servicepro), the dump does not occurs.
It only occurs on our specific business role that we have copied from the servicepro.
Would anyone has a solution for this error?
    Best regards,
    Anaïs

    Dear Samantak Chatterjee, Arjun Pawar,
I did look at the notes given, they are either not valid for our release or did not change the dump after implementing the steps.
We have created enhancements for the views and here are the details:
    Composant name: SRQM_INCIDENT_H
    Page: INCIDENTHEADEREF
    Component usage: CRM_SRQMIncidentH
    Object type: CRM_SRQM_INCIDENT
See below the screenshot of technics details for the process type view and then for the search view.
I am not sure the problem comes from Categorization as, for some other process type, we do not have any schemas linked but the dump still occurs.
I am going to log an OSS call and will provide with their information.
    Best regards,
    Anaïs

  • Picklist Field Validation

Hi all, I'm really new at building validation expressions so I thought I could get some help here...
I have two picklist fields. The second field should be required depending on the value of the first field. If FIELD1 is = "value1" then a value must be selected from FIELD2 (it can't be null) otherwise FIELD2 can be null. Here is the expression that I tried to build and clearly is not working... :(
Consider that I'm using a workaround for the fact that field validations for null values don't work when a new record is created so for this workaround... On FIELD2 configuration, the Default Value is '*' and the Post Default checkbox is checked.
    The field validation expression is:
    <> '*' AND Len([<FIELD1_ITAG>]) > 0 AND LookupValue("FIELD2", "value1")
    I appreciate any help !
    Thanks
    Cristina

You might need to try something simpler like:
    Field 1 validation: Field1 = Value1 AND Field2 IS NOT NULL OR Field1 [not equal] Value1
    Field 2 validation: blank
and if you're very concerned about the second field being validated then put the same as field1 validation.
    Field 2 validation: Field1 = Value1 AND Field2 IS NOT NULL OR Field1 [not equal] Value1
Also, the workaround thing with the star * seems totally unnecessary.

  • Multiple picklist field not showing up when trying to create a custom repor

I recently have created 4 new fields in CRM, and 3 of the 4 fields can be found to create a report. For some reason, the multiple picklist field has not shown up. Any suggestions or advice on why this is an issue?

    Hi,
The multi-select picklist should be available in the Analytics reports not in real-time reports.
Another thing is that there is a delay in metadata refresh in reports, in staging it is about a week, in production it is 1 day, I think. so if you created a multi-select picklist in staging today, it would be available in analytics reports maybe after a week.

  • Records with a picklist field with empty values can't be seen from a report

Records with a picklist field with empty values can't be seen from a report. I've created a report that have a picklist as a column. When there is no values the record(s) associated to this picklist don't appear. Do you know what are the common causes for this event?

    Hi samrat chakraborty ,
go to SUIM > roles > roles by complexselection criteria>
under the selection according to authorization values give the object's  form SU53 screen and press enter it will asks the values for given object pass the values as per the SU53 and execute it will give the list of roles.... capture the roles. The user gets access if you give the any one of the listed roles is assigned, assign the role as per your approval process.

  • Default value for Read-Only Picklist Field

    Hi, all--
I would like to have a default value ("Undetermined") for the "Associated Account" read-only picklist value. I have an account record of this value for this purpose. This is because if there is no value in the field, the record will not be included in a report that includes the field. I do not want to make the field required at this point.
Field management doesn't appear to allow any default value for read-only picklists. Does anyone know how to get around this, either at the lead record stage or at the lead report stage (without resorting to an analytic, which won't work for what we are doing)?
    Thanks.

That's a great question. It doesn't appear as though you can select it from the typical method of Admin | Application Customization | Lead | Lead Field Setup | Associated Account.
Have you tried creating a workflow to populate the field using Before Modified Record Saved?

  • How to make Multi Select Picklist Field Required Based on another field

    Hi,
I want to make one filed which is Multi select Required(mandatory) based on certain value in another filed.
I tried putting IIf([<FieldNAme>]> 1000 AND [<FiledNAme1>] IS NULL,"Invalid",[<FieldNAme>]) in the Field validatation as but it is not working.
    Please suggest any workaround available.

I guess FieldName1 is the multiselect picklist you are referring to?
Where did you get the ITAG from? I don't see any multiselect picklists available in Expression Builder. I doubt whether you can set validations on multi select picklists at all.
If anyone has achieved this please let me know as well.

  • Trying to create a Field Validation Expression and need help

I have a picklist field and another field that are in question. I want to set some sort of rule that forces the second field to be populated only If specific values are selected from the picklist field.
I was going the route of a field validation Rule, but everything i've tried so far does not produce the results i am trying to achieve.
The first type of expression i tried was:
([<plProduction_Print_Account_Category_ITAG>] <> LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_ACCOUNT_1", "No Production Print") AND ([<stSIC_Code_ITAG>] IS NULL))
This is generating the field validation error message when i select any of the correct values from the picklist. the problem is still the second field, which will generate the error if a value is entered into the second field, regardless of the picklist value selected. Switching the "IS NULL" to "IS NOT NULL" only reverses the problem on the second field, causing the error to generate when the second field is updated to a NULL or blank value.
    I also tried :
= 'No Production Print' AND [<stSIC_Code_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL
    and got similar results.
    ([<plProduction_Print_Account_Category_ITAG>] = LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_ACCOUNT_1", "No Production Print"))
    Similar results as well.
Does this need to be an IIF statement? Do I need to make this a workflow expression instead? i could really use some help as I have tried everything i can think of and admit, i'm not the expression guru!!!. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    TeknoMan

Yes we have the same request and we used the following expression. Example we have a field "Método de pago" ( [<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG<]), it's values are "CHEQUE and DEPOSITO" if we select DEPOSITO three more fields were requiered Route, Sucursal de banco and Clabe so we have to put this validation in the four fields including Metodo de pago.
[<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG>] <> "DEPOSITO" OR ([<Route>] IS NOT NULL AND [<nSucursal_de_banco_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND [<stCLABE_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL)
well in the field CLABE we put the following [<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG>] <> "DEPOSITO" OR ([<Route>] IS NOT NULL AND [<nSucursal_de_banco_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND [<stCLABE_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND Len([<stCLABE_ITAG>])=18) this was because the len of the value must be 18 characters.
I hope this works for you

  • Can multi-select picklist be used in Expression Builder?

Does CRMOD allow the use of multi-slect picklist in Expression Builder within workflow?

Thanks Suddu your process worked. This can be done it is just a little more manual than being able to select the field from the drop down list.
To do this go to Admin, Application Customization, choose your record type, then Field Setup. Click on Rename Fields, then Advanced and copy the multi-select picklist field. Paste it into expression builder and at the end of the name add _ITAG. You will also need to add the brackets as well. Doing this will allow you to use a mspl in expression builder.

  • Marking Field Mandatory Based on a particular Product Selection

    Hi All,
I have a different requirement, when I select a particular product names from the product picklist I have to make another field as mandatory. I dont have dynamic layouts to do this option.
Is there anyway where I can make a field as mandatory based on a value selection from another picklist field?
    Thanks
    Natraj

Hi, If the product ID = 1,2 or 3 and if the mandatory field is not filled set an internal field value to 1 using default field value and write a validation rule on that internal field forcing the user to fill in mandatory field. Extend the same using workflow using update field operation. Hope it helps
