Pioneer 110D In HiFi Mode
Just got a Pioneer 110D for my Mega 651. It is working perfectly in PC Mode, but CDs that play fine in PC mode are jumping in HiFi mode. Has anyone else got this problem? Has anyone got any suggestions on how to resolve it?
Thanks
I have the same problem with my Mega 180.
Any solution would be worthwhile for me as well.
Thx!

Problems while playing CD's in the HiFi mode Mega PC 865
Do anyone has the solution!
I'll tried the Nec ND3500A, Pioneer DVR-105, MSI DR8-A2, MSI MS-8216S and 4 different BenQ DVD writers bud none of them works correct.
The player stops after 2-3 minutes or skip 1-2 seconds while playing CD's in the HiFi mode.

I had the same hassle but with 865 pro. I jsut link my Plextor Multirecorder with Motherboard via simple audio cable. This cable 4 pin socket with only 3 cords connected. Take a look on the back of your drive - there should be proper socket.
But in Instant-on mode cd-player has very slow navigation - i have to wait up to 7-10 seconds when switching tracks! -
Remote no go in hifi mode?
Anyone got any tips on how to get the remote to work on hifi mode?
Have you tried to approach the remote to the IR sensor? Maybe something is interfering the IR signal.
To test if it works on PC mode, install MSI radio, MC3 or the Girder Plugin.
Just kidding but... are the batteries inserted on the right polatity?
Good luck and happy new year!!!! -

I have added the 110D to a heritage dual 2 but have not the option to burn -R DL with OS X 10.4.3 either.

Note that the intake of the cpucooler gets blocked by the Radeon, so the reason is obvious
A pretty common trick used on Biostar SFFs (which are even smaller than the 180) is to add two Zalman 80 x 15 OP1 fans to the side panels. Left panel toward the front and right panel toward the rear. This gives a good cross ventilation flow and when you run the fans on the low voltage setting-----it is totally silent---so you haven't added any noise to the overall setup.
Drops CPU temps 4-5 C. Might work on the 180. You can see an example of the side panel fans----as well as another possible solution, watercooling, here:----just scroll through all the pics to find the fan solution...SFF Fans and Watercooling

MEGA 865 CD playback problem (in HiFi mode)
Hi, fellow MEGA PC owners
I have a problem with playing my CDs on MEGA 865 in HiFi mode. It recognizes the CD, plays the first track or two, then stops playing, displays SEARCHING message for a ten seconds or so and then switches to NODISC. When I press Eject button on the box or remote, it switches back to SEARCHING and shows the number of tracks on CD.
The same problem is with the MP3 playback. It plays several MP3s ok and then switches to SEARCHING and NODISC.
Does anyone else has this problem? Any idea on what could be wrong? I checked all Slave/Master jumpers, all are ok, the cd drive is recognized by the BIOS.
My configuration is:
MSI MEGA 865, P4 3.0 GHz Northwood, 1 Gb PC3200 RAM, NEC 2500A DVD burner.Hey JavaDuke!
I've got the exact same problem with my Mega180, also running a NEC 2500A! And it is starting to get very annoying...
I can play cd's for hours without any problems, when suddenly it stops in the middle of a track, displaying the NODISC message. Doesn't matter whether I use original cd's or copied ones, and the same disc can play through perfectly one day and halt several times the next. I've been thinking about replacing the NEC 2500 with something else but haven't got round to it as yet, however the post in the thread mentioned above states that different drives still produced the same error, so it's probably the bluebird chip that is faulty.
The mentioned thread doesn't really focus on our problem though as it mostly evolves around boot problems, so I don't see any problem with starting a new thread dedicated to this problem.
I might try the newer firmware, although there is no official word from MSI that this problem even exists, and I therefore doubt that it is solved. Not many people seem to have this particular problem either, or it appears so seldom that they choose to ignore it (as I have done for some time now).
Please report back if you solve this one!

I have just upgraded to 10.4.4 and since then my pioneer 110d does not seem to be responding at all in fact not even the door opens .. can anyone help..? very urgent as I have ot burn some DVDs!
John, I wonder if you could help.
Is your G5 very new and did it come with the Pioneer 110D installed? I've just replaced a Pioneer 107 drive with the 110D but my System Profile tells me that Disc Burning is not supported. The Revision is 1.17 (Firmware?) and I wondered whether you had a newer firmware version than that?

Hifi mode doesnt work after xp reboot
To get the hifi mode to work, i have to remove the power plug at the back and put it in again, after restarting windows xp. Then it works. I hate doing this
ps even the hifi button doesnt work!
any fixes for this would be appreciated!
thanks
latest updates etc installed using msi update thingy

ati 9800 se 128The Hi-Fi mode switch can not be used when the computer is turned on BUT if using the MMC III you will notice that the HI-FI will light up. Can you give us some more information on this ie does it happen if you start up XP and do not use the MMCIII, what happens if you shut your computer down by holding in the PC button? Have you tried this with your CD and AGP cards installed, has this always happened, Have you tried a boot disk to see if the operating system is upseting the LCD. If it works fine off a boot up disk then I would do a fresh install of your XP.

Try removing the powercord for a minute or two
if that does not help disconnect the connector to the front display for a minute or two.
Good luck ...

MEGA 180: Media Center deletes radio stations of HiFi Mode
Hello
We have the following problem: Media Center III deletes the radio stations programmed in HiFi Mode!
- I programmed the 6 stations in the HiFi Mode as described in the MSI manual
- Switched to the PC mode and started Media Center III and entered the radio section
- After shouting down the PC and switching to the HiFi mode, the 6 programmed stations are gone away.
The problem only appears when using Media Center. It seems that Media Center deletes the stations when communication with the radio tuner.
Thanks for your help!
Best regards
Patrikthe problem is the fact that the radio tuner isn't a "physical" device that Windows recognises
damn MSI and their proprietory hardware!! surely some sort of USB tuner "hardwired" to the USB controller would have been a better solution? grr, but then how would that have worked in Hi-Fi mode... -
Mega 180 - Hifi mode and MP3 from DVD

hi everyone, thanks in advance for any help.
My system:
K7N420 Pro
pioneer dvd rom 106s
Polaroid BurnMAX48
256 crucial pc2100 (1 stick)
Athlon xp 1700
Western Digital 60G 7200 ATA 100 HD
Windows XP
My hard drive is master on IDE1
My dvd drive is master on IDE2
My cd-rw is slave on IDE2
The problem is i've been experiencing slow data access on my dvd and cd drives. On the properties window of my Secondary IDE channel, it lists for the Device 0 (my dvd drive) that it is in PIO mode, though DMA if available is selected. For Device 1, it is listed as Ultra DMA mode 2. I am certain that my dvd drive can be set to UDMA 33 and probably 66. I can't for the life of me figure out how to change it to enable UDMA mode. Can anyone help please.
ps
I am using 1.13 drivers. I haven't installed nforce 2.0 drives cause i haven't installed xp SP1. Haven't installed SP1 cause i haven't had the time and because i don't know if it'll cause more problems than fix. Please advise on this issue as well. Thank you all.Deruber,
I had the exact same problem under XP. I understand it's all to do with CRC. If XP runs a device in DMA mode 6 & it detects errors, it will throttle it down to DMA mode 5. If it continues to detect errors, it will drop it down further, & so on.
I documented the fix for it after I corrected my problem & have posted it below:-
The key for controlling Primary & Secondary ATA Channel transfer rates can be found at:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\000x
It should look like this if it is to transfer data in UDMA mode:-
"MasterDeviceTimingMode"=dword:00010010
"MasterDeviceTimingModeAllowed"=dword:ffffffff
If the HD is a slave device, just use the same values in:-
"SlaveDeviceTimingMode"=dword:00010010
"SlaveDeviceTimingModeAllowed"=dword:ffffffff
The error counters for those devices are stored in these keys:-
MasterIdDataChecksum
SlaveIdDataChecksum
You can reset the counters by deleting the above two keys.
Let me know how you get on. -
I have just replaced my Pioneer 106D with a 110D which seems to have solved my problems in regards to not reading previously burned DVD's in iDVD. Only one snag is that the tray seems to be wider than the 106D and clips the lip that opens ... Does any one know if its possible to get nuts on the base that will lower the whole unit?
G5When you write "the tray seems to be wider..." I'm assuming that you haven't removed the tray bezel. Removing the bezel is easy: pull it out at the bottom and then push it up to slip it off the tray.

Problems with Pioneer burners and AHCI mode on P35 Neo2-FR (ICH9R)
Well, I did my best to make my two Pioneer SATA DVR-215s work with ICH9R in AHCI mode (changed cables, ports, power supplies, rails, set AHCI SATA ports to none in BIOS, upgraded to latest BIOS and Intel drivers) but nothing seems to solve the issue that burners just do not work properly when Intel controller is in AHCI mode. If ICH9R is set to IDE mode, everything is working properly. If not - burns fail, randomly stop, burners disappear from explorer and device manager with: The device 'PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-215 ATA Device (...) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal. and The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort7, did not respond within the timeout period. Now my question is : is this a know issuse with ICH9R - or is this specific to Neo2-F(I)R (guess that it goes for Platinum as they share BIOS) or is it Pioneer fault? Firmware is updated tol atest...
My spec:
Intel Core2Duo 4600
MSI P35 Neo2-FR
4x1 GB DDR2 800 Geil Ultra 4-4-4-12@2V
Chieftec 450W
Seagate 320 GB
XFX 8600GT
edit: forgot - Vista Ultimate SP1 32bit
etc...
Someone?Yes, the ICHxR series have had issues in the past. I thought they fixed that on the newer series by making ports 5-6 non-AHCI. I have had issues with it booting for installing windows, but once in windows, it seems to work fine for me. Luck me though, my board has the JMicron controller ports (usually blue or an off color). if you have an off color SATA port, that port will be for optical drives or other devices.
also, I see you only list one HD. are you runing RAID? if not I don't think you gain any advantage with AHCI. AHCI is more for RAID setups and you'll need drivers to run them. regular IDE mode needs no extra drivers and usually perform better as the AHCI driver overhead usually puts an extra load on the drives and slows it back down.
If you're unsure, re-check the owners manual. it often covers odd setup configurations in there.
