Placing indicator on front panel in front of control

I would like to put a transparent control on top of an indicator on the front panel, but the control ends up on the bottom. How do I make the control appear in front?

Get front panel position of the control strange behavior

Hi,
I have a code that returns the front panel coordinates of a control. I use the same code and front panel design (splitter/pane layout) in two separate VIs, but I get two different result in each VI and I cannot find the difference between them. VIs are attached. I have LV2013 f2.

Dear Andrej,
you are indeed correct. If you happen to have multiple panels with splitters, the you have to account for the splitter positions as well, assuming they are to the left, or on top of your control. Here's some very simple code written for your example:
Of course to make it more flexible for any setup, you will need to add some tuning to that (you can programmatically get the right pane instead indexing with Owning property, check splitter Vertical? property to decide which coordinate to add to, check whether to include splitter based on position and other things I've been too lazy to properly code ), but this is the basic idea.

Wireless indicator on front panel blinks

HP Pavilion m940f. Wireless light on front panel blinks when booted on Windows 7 drive. Works fine, steady on, when booted on Windows Vista hard drive. What am I missing in Windows 7 to make it work properly?

You're not really doing anything wrong. The method involves a "trick" and is somewhat limited in what you can do.
You cannot place additional controls or indicators after you "Then I right click the chart and tell it advance and customize", however you can modify the existing object. The trick is that certain objects have more than one display (e.g. a chart or a thermometer, etc all have digital displays).
So (in the control editor)...
right-click on the chart and select "visible item...digital display"
Now you have your second indicator that you can modify.
right-click on the just created "digital display" and select "replace", and e.g. replace it with a thermometer.
Now right-click on the thermometer and select "visible items...digital display"
replace the digital display of the thermometer with a gauge.
make the digital display of the gauge visible
replace the digital display with yet another indicator...
etc.etc.
Save
All clear?

An event listener has to be placed in the code to load the widget once the panel has been opened, I think.

Macbook and TV - Front row controls.

I'm connecting my Macbook to TV through MiniDVI - S-video and i am working with front row with it and it works fine.
My question is... Is there a way that i can turn on Front Row on screen of my TV while having normal desktop screen on my MacBook? I thought i could turn this on by turning off "mirror screen" but it still shows Front Row on both screens?

No, Front Row takes over. One screen will be dark while Front Row is running in the other screen.

Keyboard layout indicator in gnome panel, red icon instead of letters

See the image, red round icon is the keyboard notification, but it shoud be ( or was ) letters.
Any idea how to change the icon back to letters? I have 2 layouts, changing gtk theme or icon theme doesn't help.

PS Caps issue is fixed now. Thanks. Caps Lock itself was disabled in Caps Lock key behaviour branch in Options in keyboard layout panel.

NO java control panel in windows system control window

Hello together,
there seems to be a bug/feature (?) not allowing me to use the plugin functionality of my J2EEsdk-1_4
Situation:
Before i installed the J2EE i had an already installed java plug-in 1_4_2 working fine on
my Laptop giving my ms explorer 6.0 the Java VM needed. To avoid conflicts, i deinstalled
this plug-in, before i installed the J2EE 1_4_2. The result was disapointing.
There was NO java control panel in the windows2000 system control window after installing J2EE.
There was no corresponding registration key in the registry anymore.
Additionally there was no java related entrance to be seen anymore in the advanced internet and
security options of my ms explorer 6.0.
i have have found several trouble reports mentioned similar problems during the last months but unluckily
no solution working for me.
i did several tests with different java packages i downloaded today to get the actual versions
First:
i deinstalled the J2EE (not to get version conflicts) and installed the Java Plug-in 1.4.2 again.
This was proposed from ms explorer, when i tried to open an internet page with javaplugins included.
This plugin worked fine again. I could see and use the java panel and it enabled
my explorer to use the java plugin.
Second:
i deinstalled the Java Plugin and installed the J2sdk_1_4_2 instead.
The java plugin which is part of this package also worked fine.
Third:
i deinstalled the J2sdk_1_4_2 and installed the J2EEsdk-1_4-windows.exe.
the same misbehaviour as mentioned before. No java panel icon can be seen
in the windows system control, now registration......
as a workaround i have installed now both, the J2eesdk (i want to learn about)
and some additonal 100 MB java plug-in to enable my MS explorer to display
java applets again.
This is working fine again, but i really would prefer to have no need for two JREs.
By the way:
When i first opened the java control panel of the Plug-in and deactivated the update
mechanism , this plugin got really angry immedialtely afterwards. As a result my
laptop rebooted without coming up again. i had to initiate another hard reboot to get
windows back
i really would like to know , whats wrong me or the J2ee and i apriciate
any hint.

One thing you could do if you by all means want to have only one single copy of 1.4.2 on your system is to install standalone J2SE 1.4.2 (this will accomodate your Java console and browser plugin requirements) and then install Application Server only distribution (on the download page this is referred to as "Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8") and sample applications set ("J2EE 1.4 SDK Samples "). In this way you get full content you would get in J2EE 1.4 SDK and all the benefits of standalone J2SE 1.4.2 installation.
This is obviously more convoluted at installation time since there are 3 separate things to install, but it would seem to fit your requirements.

Lack of options in iCloud control panel compared to MobileMe Control panel, so now what happens if there is a conflict of data (Cloud vs Computer)?

Back then when we were syncing with MobileME, the control panel allows us to decide what to do when there is a conflit of data in the cloud vs the information on our computer. We were given the option of Replacing information in Me with information on the computer or vice versa, but now we do not have any of these options. And currently when i sync my computer with icloud, i dont know if the information (Contacts, Bookmarks) will be replaced with the current informaiton on the iCloud (transfered from MobileMe) or they will merge (if they merge then i would have double of contacts,bookmarks??) or the information in the iCloud would be replaced?
If we had more options in the control panel of iCloud, then things can be simplier. However, with the current iCloud control panel, we have no way of knowing what happens when there is a conflict and we won't know what action the iCloud would take for the conflict of information.
So currently i still dont know if my Favourites (Bookmarks) will be replaced or not.
Does anyone know if we can wipe out the info on iCloud and replace it with the data (Contacts, bookmark, calendars etc) on our computer?

This is what I did...not ideal but seems to work for right now till iCloud actually syncs contacts into Outlook 2010 (PC/Win 7) like Mobile Me used to. I opened the contacts in the iCloud contact address boxes in Outlook. I selected all contacts by selecting one and then Ctrl-A (selects all), then Ctrl-C (copies all). Then I went into the Outlook Contact folder which is blank from iCloud "stealing" all my contacts and in that empty box I hit Ctrl-V to past all contacts in. I am now able to use my contacts when emailing in Outlook.
Of course, any changes I make to my iPhone contact list or via iCloud will only sync back to the iCloud contacts lists in Outlook (and not Outlook's main calendar) so occassionally I'm thinking I'll need to go back and do this all again either figuring out a way to only copy new contacts over, or going into Outlook Contacts and deleting all of those, going back to Outlook iCloud contacts (which are syncing but not communicating with other aspects of Outlook like mail) and then do the process all over (select all, copy, paste).
Seems silly that contacts can't work the same as they did with Mobile Me but it seems like Apple has a tendancy with everything but their actual iDevices to be screwy when things are working and make things more complicated. I was not looking towards this day as I knew there would be some stupid issue as it seems like it always is that way with their new software rollouts. In fact, I use Outlook 2010 through Parrells still cause their Mac version still won't sync even calendars...at least iCloud is still doing that with Outlook 2010 Windows...though still the same issue as Mobile Me that it doesn't sync with the main calendar...but I can still use it and sync well to the iPhone.

SharePoint 2013 RSS Viewer not loading when other Custom web part using Update Panel or Ajax Timer control

Viewer web part failing to complete loading when the page loads.
This happens when having RSS Viewer and then adding a Custom webpart with an updatepanel and timer control.
I had used Ajax update panel and timer control to load the web part asynchronously after the main page is fully loaded.
The RSS-Viewer web part hangs in loading state while the custom webpart loads just fine.
The issue occurs when an like button click or Timer Tick event fires after the page
is loaded.
Haven't been able to track the issue.
Couple of workaround I tried to call a server side button click event from the custom web part after the page gets fully loaded using JQuery shown below did not work out either.

Hi Johan,
The assignment of this user on the given task might be corrupted. Try to remove the resource from the task, publish the project, assign the resource again and publish again the project. If it is not working, try to unpublish the task (column "publish")
and publih it again.

Is there a way to add a LED indicator to the tabs in a tab control

I have a tab control with multiple rows of tabs. I would like to know if there is a way that I could add round LED indicators to each of the tabs so that I can quickly see the status of each page. If I only have one row I can just allow for my LEDs to "hover" over the tab, but this does not work if there are multiple rows since the tabs change locations when they are selected. Does anyone have experience with this?

I decided to take some time (probably way too much time!) to try this out and prove it would work. See the attachment in LV 8.5.1.
I used arrays and control references to make the code as scalable as possible. I added several spaces at the end of each label name so that there was some room to place a very small LED.
The trickiest part (and I would save this until the tabs are named, laid out, and the overall tab control is sized) is to find the best location and screen coordinates for each LED.
I discovered for best looks, that the LED should jump up and to the left by 2 pixels when its specific tab is selected, just like the label text does. Otherwise the LED's just jump around on the screen to match whatever row its respective tab is on.
I have the timeout event randomly turning on and off the LED's, but that would actually be handled by your other code and whatever events determine whether the LED should be on or off.

Remote Panel server monitoring and control by multiple users

Hi . . . ..
I just did what is in below attached image. . . . Now I have to control as well as monitor the VI file which is in server PC. But If I supposed to use below steps(please refer image), the clients can be control the VI seperately. But the status of each client cannot be monitored by server PC. I used another way that is "Non-reentrant" option... But its provide controlling by queue manner. . . . .
My question is, is there any possible to control the server VI at a time by all clients. . . .?
Please guide me for this... I am very much thankful about this. .. .. ..

iPhoto has no Cross Platform ability whatever. It's designed with one user on one Mac in mind. It's not the app you want for your set up. Sorry but that's the way it is.
