Plannig with BCS

Hi Experts,
What is the best way to consolidate plan data with BCS?
When the plannig proces strats it should based on actual consolidated data and hierarchies, CoI is run as well.
Client does not want to use BPS for planning.

The problem is that client wants to use only BCS for planning!
Technically we can load planned data using Consolidation Monitor but how BCS manage with changing company structure and CoI activities?
For example we've got one version 100 for actual data and another version 200 for planning data.
In the previous year  (for example 2007) there was planned one new acqusition in June, so the company hierarchy was modified accordingly in special version 200. In the end of the current year 2008 the planned version 200 must be adjusted with version 100, for example because planned acqusition was carried out in July. And that is the problem! How it shoul be carried out?
We can use special periods for that and change customizing for company hierarchy in special verison 200 (time depending settnigs). Is it correct approach?
I thing that using BI Integrated palnnig that problem also occures.

    Typically in ECC company codes are assigned to a company. The company is typically used for cons unit in BCS, but it is not uncommon for company code to be used as cons unit.
    When company code is used, it is an attribute of the characteristic company and thus in the load mapping, the company is mapped to the attribute company code. This results in company code being mapped to company.
    Otherwise, if company code is in the databasis as the cons unit role, then it is simply mapped to company code to company code.
    For profit center and cost center, these are typically assigned the role subassignment, but it is not uncommon for profit center to be a cons unit for a matrix consolidation. However, these characteristics must first be included in the totals/databasis infocube.

  • Send files as attachment with BCS-methods

    Hi,
    I want to load file(s) from application server
    and send it as attachment per mail.
    In 4.6c I had a program with fm 'SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1'
    that worked fine. But not any longer in 7.01.
    So i tried it with the new method of BCS*
    But it worked not fully correct.
    German mutations are not correct.
    and e.g. in excel ther is a message "too many columns" although there're only 130 col.
    In 4.6 I opend the data file(s) in binary mode and saved it to solix
    Which addition I must choose to the open-command?
    And what I have to note by the converting method  cl_bcs_convert=>string_to_solix?
    Do you know a sample program to my problem ?
    In BCS_EXAMPLE* I did not found anyone

  • Problems with BCS Queries Inconsistent Data

    Hi BI Experts,
    We recently had our BCS upgrade from 4.0 to 6.0 and BW upgrade from 3.5 to 7.0
    We have created some consolidated queries and we didnt change them to 7.0 they are still in 3.5 version. The problem is that we are getting some inconsistent data every time we ran those queries.
    The BWP is yet to under go upgrade process so we checked  the data in BWP (3.5) production and BWD (7.0) this tells us that the data in the tables are right.
    I ran the query in RSRT and gives inconsistent data.
    We are on the support pack 10 for BCS and
    support pack 14 for BI 7.0.

    Sorry guys....
    I want to correct one statement up there ...when I run my queries with through RSRT i dont get any inconsistent data ..the data comes exactly the way we want ...the problem is only through the BEx.
    Is it a upgrade bug or the support pack issue ..???

  • Error with BCS hyerarch company input

    Dear experts,
    I´m trying to input a new company In the Hyerarch for company in BCS  and coming across a message UGMD304, which states "You defined hierarchy xxxx with multiple root nodes. However, the hierarchy-defining characteristic only allows one root node per hierarchyu201D. The Procedure is: Correct the hierarchy definition.
    I know that this is not possible but my customer has a hierarchy with two root node and only now when I trying to input a new company the error occurred.
    Are there a way to have two root node in the same hierarchy?

    There may be a way to do this by changing the hierarchy in BW and using the synchronizing program UGMDSY20 to synchronize from BW to BCS.
    However this is not a good practice and it is my humble opinion that the hierarchy be corrected to a single root node as soon as possible.

    Hi Varun,
    Technical reports based on the totals cube will show you all records conforming the selecting conditions, without any additions or omissions.
    The business reports based on the virtual cube with the functional module will follow the logic: show results for a particular consolidation group WITHOUT entries between the companies belonging to the same cons group.
    You can imagine that depending on the level of the hierarchy you choose as a selection you'll get different results. It's because of the FM work.

      We are a SAP implementation team. We are @ Blue Print stage. My client is a RETAIL Business Gaint. Client has 50 % of Transaction data and Master data in Oracle data base. Now we are moving to BI 7.0 and also has plans to use SAP-BCS.
      We would like to map all the existing Oracle tables to BI. Provide any clue regarding the best Data flow (From Oracle 10G to BI 7.0).

    Hi Ashok,
    You have mentioned that you have a Oracle 10g  system as a data inflow which perfectly sets the platform to extract the data from the Oracle  system to SAP BW system.
    This Can be done through the DB connect ,through where you could select the necessary tables and form them as a datasource in BI system,further creating the usual BI objects on top of the DS.
    Once the Data is in BI ,we could pull the BI cube or form a replica of the cube in BCS application format to use it in the BCS environment.

    I am looking for a solution that allows me to
    - send faxes by Business Communication Services (BCS) without showing the sender fax on the document
    - to receive the status of the fax (success or error), but I want to get rid of the undeliverable faxes.
    I could not find anything suitable in classes CL_BCS and CL_SEND_REQUEST_BCS. I am a developer, maybe there is someting I can do in the system's settings...
    Any idea is very welcome!

  • Accessing External List that uses BCS with CAML Query

    Hi,
    I have an external list that uses BCS to sql server. I can view the list with  Lists.asmx web service GetLlistItems. However, I get an parameter error when trying to add to the list with UpdateListItems. I will be changing over sharepoint lists to sql
    tables using BCS to connect to them and I need it to be seamless to clients that do CRUD operations using CAML. Are there any instructions on creating such an external list that maintains compatibility with ordinary sharepoint lists?

    CRUD options are fine.
    Here's what I've done.
    Created ECT.
    Created Read list & read item options.
    Set a limit for 200 items (for testing purposes only)
    Created external list based upon ECT created above.
    Opened external list in web browser and I'm able to open, edit & add items without issue.
    What I'd like is to have a simple HTML type form above the list (like in a Content Editor web part with a few text boxes and a 'search' button.  I've tried the link below but it either crashes Sharepoint Designer when I'm defining the parameters or
    if it works there the button doesn't work.

    I started to investigate the BCS.
    When using the function - CLOSE_FORM - I get the OTFDATA table - how do I send it as a pdf file with BCS ?
    How different is sending an Ms-Word attachment ?

  • Can not Delete Data in SEM-BCS

    Dear Expert,
    I do the following steps :
    1. Created Consolidation groups in workbench ( I was not assigned it to anywhere)
    2. Save.
    3. Deleted Consol group above.
    4. WHen i tried to save, There are errors that said "The data model contains inconsistencies. These have to be cleaned up before you proceed." . And then i click button "Full Display" but the result said : "Data is Consistent. SYnchronzation not neccessary".
    How do i delete data in workbench? because i cannot delete master data that i created in workbench.
    Please advice.

    Actually, yes, you may delete master data in BW and then syncronize them with BCS.
    The name of the infoobject containing master data for cons group you may see in your data basis, on the tab strip showing roles assignment (swithing on the tech names).
    Execute RSA1 t-code. Find in infoobjects, the IO for cons groups, delete its master data.
    SE38 t-code, program name = UGMDSYNC. Choose the cons group IO; set source = your BW system name; set target = local. Execute syncronization.
    After that the data for cons group in BW and BCS will be equivalent.

  • How to create an External Content Type with SQL Stored Procedures Parameters and query it in a SharePoint App

    Hi,
    I'm new to SharePoint 2013 I want to be able to query a MSSQL database from a SharePoint App I have tried to create an External Content Type (ECT) which is produced from a MSSQL stored Procedure, this procedure has several parameters which are needed to
    filter the data correctly.  From here I want to produce an external list which I can then query from a c# SharePoint app.  If I leave the filters in the ECT null then the list is of course empty or if enter a default values the results are limited
    for the app to query so are no good.
    I want to dynamically pass values to the ECT when querying from the app, is this not possible.  Should I just be returning everything in an external list and then letting the query in the app filter the data, this seems inefficient?
    Is this the best way to do this or should I be doing this differently?
    Please can someone point me in the right direction.

    Or, try to create a stored procedure based on your select statement, then create ECT using the SQL stored procedure.

  • FMJ2 - Carry forward with budget Line

    Hello,
    I have done a carry forward FMJ2 and everything works perfectly. However the client let me know that they also want the budget line associated to the commitments to be carry forwarded.
    When I try that, the system gives me error FMAVC005.
    In "Define basic stting for carry forward" I have "Carry forward with document chain".
    In "Enter default settings" I have flaged "Carry forward budget for commitement allowed" and also the other 2 (Commitemnt and residual).
    Any idea about this topic.

    Avalability control is activated and I ma working with BCS Budget.
    In 2013 I have introduce my budget FMBB (Budget line). Then I have created a reserve agaisnt this budget line.
    When I try to do the carry forward the budget line is not carry forward and so the reserve in 2014 is trying to consume a budget line that do not exist.
    Please find a document with the images of the customizng and the 4th one with the result of the budget in 2014 but without the availability control (I get a negative ammount).

    Feddin,
    in EC-CS you have only one consolidation unit object. So if you are dealing with a matrix org then you have to compound for example company code and profit center into a CS unit object. This potenially creates a lot of units and therefore maintenance overhead.
    With BCS you can keep the two dimensions separated and all combinations are valid (without the need to create them).

    We are going to migrate our system from FB (Former Budgeting) to BCS, in the middle of the current year.
    The migration activities deal only with Budget data migration.   
    My question is:  How to migrate Commitments and Actuals ?   
    We use only Payment Budget

    Are you thoroughly clear on the concept and functionality of Budget Control System?
    Compared to FB, BCS provides changes to 2 main functionalities in PSM-FM:
    1, Budgeting/planning
    2, Availability Control (AVC)
    -> This means, that the processes / functionalities / technical details for commitments/actuals are not changed in any way by implementing / migrating BCS. 
    The BCS implementation changes the data structures for budgeting tables. That is why migration of data from old budget tables to new ones is needed (even this is not mandatory, if you choose to use old reports for old budget data).     The main point is, that commitment/actuals data is not changed, and thus no migration for those is possible (or needed). The commitments remain to be updated in table FMIOI and actuals in table FMIT. You just need to use the new BCS reports to view for example budget consumption when BCS has been activated (for example report FMRP_RW_BUDCON).
    Also, you might want to consider if the migration of the old budget data is overall an absolutely mandatory requirement. Technically, you do not need to run any migration, but you can use old FB reports for previous fiscal years and just simply load only future budgeting data into the BCS. At my customer it was decided that no migration is needed, and we went successfully live with BCS withtout any issues. For past fiscal years they will be using FB reports.
