Play Video then load SWF?

Hello all. I'd like to have a flash page play a video and, at its completion, load a new swf file. I have the code working fine for getting an html page (below), but would like to substitute it for loading the swf file aforementioned. I assume it's a basic modification to load the swf file instead. Thanks for any suggestions.
import fl.video.*;
musicintrovid.source="INTRO FILM.flv"
musicintrovid.autoPlay=true;
musicintrovid.volume=1.00;
musicintrovid.autoRewind=true;
musicintrovid.addEventListener(VideoEvent.COMPLETE, myHomePage);
var urlRequest=new URLRequest("music_arrival.html");
function myHomePage(eventObject:VideoEvent):void
{ navigateToURL(urlRequest, '_self');}

Just load your swf into one that has video with Loader class:

    i have a 30gb 5gen ipod, ant it has a problem... it doesn't plays video. video clips i used were converted in itunes, so it had to fit the requirments. video loads ok, but when i try to play it it shows play sign in the left up corner, however nothig hapens, just black screen. when i push the forward buton it goes forward and i can see that the video clip loaded well, it's just not streaming, looks like it is on pause or something. i have tried to restore it, reinstall it... nothing helped
    please help!!!

    Hard Reset the  iPod  as below- this does not delete or erase any song or data.
    After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
    Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
    Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • Play video while loading Flash

    Hi, My site takes a little long to load. I am thinking that if I can make it play an intro video first. While the video is play, the site is being loaded too. This way the viewer don't need to wait for the site to load. They can watch the video first. After the video, and the site is loaded, they can click on Enter to go to the site. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

    I actually only have dreamweaver and not the macromedia flash
    cs3..
    but I may know what the problem is now the problem...I used a
    program called web audio plus to create an .fla file from an mp3
    recording. I figured the problem may be solvable if I can make the
    file flash video instead, but how do I create a flash video file
    from an mp3 file?

  • Problem playing video then audiobook

    Has anyone else noticed any issues when going from playing a video file to and audiobook. My ipod will continue to play the audio from the video while the audiobook is playing. If I shuffle songs between switching it works as usual.

    I just tried it, it does the same thing to me.
    I have to go to Music and play a song first, then the audiobooks will play fine.
    I am getting tired of all these little annoying bugs.

  • Playing music, then switch to video and then going back to play list.

    When I got my new touch I could be playing music, then switch to video, play videos, then go back to music and would be right where I left off on the song I was listening to it. Now when I switch to video and go back to music I have restart my playlist I was listening to. This totally blows, I hated it with my 5G video and now with the 2.1 update on my touch it does this again. Why in the world would this function be changed. I am pretty ticked

    I had the same trouble w/ my iPod Touch 16GIG Gen 1 & it seemed to be worse after upgrading the software/firmware to Version 2.1; to the point where I was arranging to get it back to The Apple Store before it was 30 days old. The trouble seems to be worse as I approached 14GIG's of filled memory. I mostly have audio, but a few movies are loaded also. But I couldn't view the album art from end to end & it would also freeze & go back to the home screen after about 5 seconds of audio from an audio track intermittently. It was frustrating.
    I used the HOME button on the top of the iPod to shut it down {holding it till the 'slide to power off' screen comes up & then doing the slide. Then using the HOME button to turn the iPod back on - seeing the cracked white apple when it reboots & starts back up. I haven't had any more trouble in iTunes. Maybe this reboot cleans up the memory of the iPod & a fresh reboot gives the OS a clean bill of health to look at the 14 GIGs of content that I've added in.
    Give the Home button a try & let us know.
    Best of Luck-

  • Controlling a Movie Clip on the Main Timeline from a loaded SWF?

    Is it possible to control a MovieClip on the main timelne from another loaded clip?
    I see posts that control loaded clips, but most are all from the loader in the main timeline.  I have a moviclip on the main timeline that I want to make visible or invisible depending on what keyframe is playing in another loaded swf.
    If I try to call the movieClip from the loaded SWF I get "error #1119.  Access of possibly undefined property...." because it doesn't exist in the loaded SWF, just the main timeline.
    The old AS2 way just used "_root".  Since "_root" doesn't exist any more, how do you control items on the main TimeLine from a loaded SWF?

    I am not clear what you mean because you are saying you are trying to target a movieclip that does not exist where you are trying to target it.
    Try using a trace to see what you are targeting when you you target the MovieClip(parent.parent)....
    trace(MovieClip(parent.parent));
    The other approach I mentioned earlier is the more OOP-correct approach if you would rather try that way.  Here's a rough outline of it...
    AS3 - Dispatch Event
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/470135?tstart=120
    Example:
    Add something to trigger the event in the child (your loaded swf):
    dispatchEvent(new Event("eventTriggered")); (
    if dispatchEvent problem, see: http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1899603#post1899603)
    In your loading/parent swf, listen for the complete event on the Loader.contentLoaderInfo.  In the complete event handler, add a listener for the event on the loaded swf.
    // event handler triggered when external swf is loaded
    function loaderCompleteHandler(event:Event) {
        MovieClip(event.currentTarget.content).addEventListener("eventTriggered", eventHandler);
    function eventHandler(event:Event):void {
        trace("event dispatched in loaded swf");
       // this is where your main file can set the visible property of your movieclip

  • It says my ipod cant play videos!!!!!

    i have a 30GB white ipod. but whenever i try to put my videos on my ipod from itunes, it says my ipod cannot play videos. i thought if the video was already in itunes, it was already converted................somebody please help!!! thanks a million

    i have a 30GB white ipod. but whenever i try to put my videos on my ipod from itunes, it says my ipod cannot play videos. i thought if the video was already in itunes, it was already converted.
    The ability to play a file in iTunes means that is is QT compatible -- not neccessarily iPod compatible.
    If the message states that a particular file is not playable on the iPod, then the file is either in the wrong format or one or more parameters does/do not meet iPod compatiblity restrictions. For instance, a DivX MPEG4 video file with MPEG layer-3 audio would not be playable. Normally, it is a simple problem associated with video data rate limitations or failure to use a specific required profile for the format you are employing. In addition, movie content can sometimes "trick" the encoder and cause a momentary "peak" in the data rate that triggers iTunes to reject the file during sync operations.
    If the message states that the iPod "generically" cannot play videos, then you do not have an iPod model with video capabilities.

  • How to load and unload external .swfs in a main .fla then load another external .swf on top

    I know that the question sounds confusing. I am new to AS3 but a little dangerous with it.
    The project
    I'm putting together a website tour with has a main .fla with navigation buttons. The navigation buttons load external .swfs using X and Y properties. Every external .swf houses a scrubber bar, play pause buttons which calls to a movie clip which houses the animation.
    The problem:
    Everything was working great, until someone mentioned "Hey, what if at the end of each loaded external .swf, a button appears that says "go to next section".
    So basically we are trying to give the user another way to get to the next section in the left hand navigation once the animation ends, in addition to being able to click in the left hand navigation for the next section. It's kind of like when a youTube video ends and it displays a button to go to the next movie that's in line, but you can also do it in the thumnail navigation as well.
    Ok, let's try it. Well, after many nights, searching the web and trying everything I am waving the white flag. I went through the lynda.com book over and over but I get an error message when I add code related to the parent timeline. I can actually get the next section to load on top of the previously loaded .swf, but it's buggy and I think the previous section is showing through underneath. Plus the scrubber isn't really working right. Since every .swf has a scrubber to control it, shouldn't it just load on top of the previous .swf? Do I need to add coding related to the parent timeline?
    I don't know if I should paste my code here, I have a sample .fla too. Help is so greatly appreciated!!!! If this can work, I think it would be very useful for anyone else doing something like this - I would definitely share any knowledge gained!
    Thanks.
    Jen

    If you want to utilize that code as a starting point (hopefully you understand what it does, and that the code actually works), then you need to modify it such that the array at the start has your filenames instead of the three it now shows, and the three buttons it uses are changed to the next and previous buttons you intend to use.  Here are the functions you need to make adjustments to...
    function onCompletePreloading():void {
            _loadedSWFs = 0;
            contentContainer.addChild(_swfClipsArr[_loadedSWFs]);
            next_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, setContent);
            prev_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, setContent);
    function setContent(event:MouseEvent):void {
            var _swfToAdd:MovieClip;
            if(event.currentTarget.name == "next_btn") {
                _loadedSWFs += 1;
                if(_loadedSWFs == _swfClipsArr.length){
                       _loadedSWFs = 0;
            } else if(event.currentTarget.name == "prev_btn"){
                _loadedSWFs -= 1;
                if(_loadedSWFs == -1){
                       _loadedSWFs = _swfClipsArr.length-1;
            _swfToAdd = _swfClipsArr[_loadedSWFs];
            contentContainer.removeChildAt(contentContainer.numChildren-1);
            contentContainer.addChild(_swfToAdd);
            trace(_swfToAdd.customID);

  • Load swf into movieclip // play pause buttons

    I am going out of my mind trying to get this to work. I can do it in AS2 without a hitch - but not AS3.
    I just need to load an external swf file into an empty movieclip. Then I have 2 buttons play and pause that need to be on the top layer of the new movie and they need to play and pause the loaded swf file.
    I have tried a number of things and nothing is working. Please help.
    Thank you in advance.
    Shawna

    you can use:
    var ldr:Loader=new Loader();
    addChild(ldr);
    ldr.load(new URLRequest("yourswfthatyouwanttoload.swf"));
    addChild(yourplaybtn);
    addChild(yourpausebtn);
    yourplaybtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playF);
    yourpausebtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK.pauseF);
    function playF(e:Event){
    MovieClip(ldr.content).play();
    function pauseF(e:Event){
    MovieClip(ldr.content).stop();

  • Go to frame, play a few then load movie?

    I am working on a continously playing banner that has 5
    different movies. there is a navigation bar below with 5 buttons,
    one for each movie. There is also a puase/play button so you can
    stop the animation and resume it. What I cant figure out is how to
    actionscript the buttons. I need them to jump to a particular frame
    in the current movie, play a specific set of frames (the outro
    animation sequence), then load the appropriate movie.
    on (release) {
    gotoAndPlay(series of frames???);
    loadMovie("movie2.swf", 1);
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    I'm still having trouble grokking it...... Ok so I am
    watching the animation, Movie #1 ends and loads Movie #2 and I am
    on Movie #1 but I decide I want to jump to movie #4 (there are 5
    movies altogether), I click on the button for Movie 4, it then
    jumps to the frames I labelled to play the outro, then loads Movie
    4.
    So in one scenario I can watch all 5 movies in sequence. At
    the end of each movie is the frame:
    var holder_mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
    holder_mc.clear();
    holder_mcl.loadClip("your_file.swf", holder_mc);
    where "your_file.swf" is the next movie in the sequence e.g.
    movie2.swf at the end of movie1's timeline.
    In the scenario I descfribed above where I want to skip Movie
    #3 and jump to movie #4, I use the button code:
    on(release){
    holder_mc.clear();
    gotoAndPlay("movie2outro");
    to play my outro, but if I am currently in movie #2, where
    loading movie3 is called to load at its end of that timeline, how
    can I load movie #4 in a frame in the same timeline?
    You can see something similar on the home page for Micron
    http://www.micron.com. The big
    difference is that my "slide show" plays continuosly (will
    autonmatically go to the next "slide") whereas you have to choose a
    link on the bottom on the the micron.com one to go to another
    slide.
    Thanks so much for your help!

  • Loading SWF with audio playing in it...

    I was loading a SWF file, and noticed that even if I didn't
    add it to the display via addChild() that I can hear the audio
    playing in it. Why is this? And likewise, when I do addChild(), and
    see the SWF, then later use removeChild(), and no longer see it, I
    can still hear it playing.
    I can sort of understand that even though it's not displayed
    until using addChild() that one would HEAR it, because it is loaded
    - correct? But how would I actually get rid of/delete this when I
    no longer want to see/hear it ?

    Thanks to the both of you! I'd like to see the things you do
    to "close up shop" on the loaded SWF.
    I also found something about getting access to your loaded
    SWF here:
    TextAccessing
    document class of an externally loaded swf with AS3
    That blog describes adding a generic object in the complete
    listener:
    var loaderInfo:LoaderInfo = e.target as LoaderInfo;
    var myLoadedSWF:Object = loaderInfo.content;
    You can then target myLoadedSWF and access your SWF. Seems
    pretty different than AS1 & 2, but I suppose that's how it is
    (unless there are better ways).

  • Adobe flash videos now only show up/play once fully loaded.

    All online flash related videos used to start playing once I hit play. They would continue to load as they played. This changed a month or so ago. Now after I hit play I just get the blank screen UNTIL the video fully loads. Then it plays. I thought for a while my flash was broke even after uninstalling/installing ect until I left it on a video I tried to play one day. I then realized it had been working, but not showing the video until fully loaded. I am running the newest firefox and adobe flash. Doesnt matter what browser I use. Trid most of the quick fixes online. Any simple setting to change it back to play the video from the get go? Any help would be great! I am running version 11,5,502,146 for flash player on Windows 7 64-bit. Any updates?

    Please check out the video troubleshooting guide.  Disabling hardware acceleration might resolve this for you.
    Instructions for finding this information can be found here:

    Sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify this by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the menu.

  • Firefox 4 wont load page completely or play videos on youtube after clearing cache

    Firefox 4 wont load page completely or play videos on youtube and ive noticed its always after clearing cache. after a while it will start working properly but its kind of annoying. Know what the problem is?

    oh, there is still a pending issue with youtube unfortunately. I can play videos individually but if I click on a video that is part of a playlist it lags and then goes to a blank space where the video should be. Is that a flash player issue? So, I can play videos individually but not playlists.
    Any word on that would be awesome
    Thanks again

  • External AS3: Loading swf video

    I need to load a  swf file, which is video player and video. The swf loads but the video contained in it does not play and the video controls are dead too. What do I need to do to load a swf containing a flv video so the video plays?
    I have a fla file connected by class to an external as file. Here is the external as file I am using:
    package final {
        import flash.display.Loader;
        import flash.display.Sprite;
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        //import flash.text.*;
        // URLRequest class resides in flash.net package
        import flash.net.URLRequest;
        import flash.events.*;
        import flash.errors.*;
        public class ControllingSwfs extends Sprite {
            public function ControllingSwfs() {
                var swfContainer:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
                var swfLoader:Loader=new Loader  ;
                swfLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaderCompleteHandler);
                function loaderCompleteHandler(evt:Event):void {
                    addChild(swfLoader);
                    swfContainer=swfLoader.content as MovieClip;
                    swfContainer.x=10;
                    swfContainer.y=20;
                    addChild(swfContainer);
                    //swfContainer.setText('SWF Loaded Properly');
                    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, unloadAssetHandler);
                function unloadAssetHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
                    swfLoader.unload();
                    stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, unloadAssetHandler);
                swfLoader.load(new URLRequest('kitty.swf'));
                addChild(swfLoader);

    Now I am going to ask some dumb questions:
    What is the difference between a script that loads an external image or a swf file into a new swf,
    and a series of scripts that, when used together with a fla file, create a swf movie player (into which a target flv file gets played)?
    Can a loader script load an that swf file that contains a movie in an ActionScripted movie player? If so, does it need access to the movie player scripts?
    A little background:
    My functioning ActionScript 3 movie player relies on 4 scripts —
    1. a button manager script that controls play, pause, rewind, fast forward and stop
    2. a media control script that extends flash.events.Event
    3. a video script that extends MovieClip, targets the video to be played and controls and displays things like the scrubber
    4. a main script that integrates all the above and is the Class for the fla file
    Because I wanted to be able to load multiple flv movies in my flash swf, and I didn't know how to make the movie player do this, I thought loading the movies as swf files via a loader would be the solution.
    If I could get my scripted movie player to be able to load and play different movies (as does the Adobe Media Player), that would be satisfying. (I am not relying on the AMP because I am doing this project for a class (which is now finished, but I'm still trying).
    What I really need is working sample scripts so I can begin to understand how to assemble something like this. Oh, and the key is that I am required to do this all in external ActionScript 3, not on the timeline within the fla file.
    Is there somewhere online that I can visit that creates purely scripted flash stuff?
