Plc mitsubishi to lookout 6

can Lookout 6 talk with mitsubishi plc A2USHcpu-S1  with module A1SJ71UC24-R2?
if it can do, when can i find a example of that?
thanks

HI Bob
The database conversion did complete successfully. The alarms are showing because the datapoints are not registering correctly and such the min and max are setting off the alarms. Some devices are working while others are not. Seems to be about half of the devices are working. I have little Lookout experience. I have enough knowledge to put up a Lookout PC and move the data/files. The last move went okay but this one has been difficult at best. Luckily I still have the "old" setup working and can fall back when the attempts to get the new one does not work successfully.I have found the proper way to edit the data points individually but this would be very tedious and prone to errors. I would like to think there is some connetion that has not converted to the new version and I need to find and fix that connection, but again I don't have the required knowledge for that.
Your thoughts?
Thank you for your reply.

  • PLC Direct with Lookout 4.0.1

    I am running the following
    Windows 2000
PLCDirect 250 with ECOM module on ethernet
    Lookout 4.0.1
DSPlus software ($349) from Automationdirect.com (Beta now but shipping
    soon)
I was having problems but all is working now all is working now.
Here is what I believe the problem was.
In Windows NT4 you can leave Lookout Direct or prior Lookouts on your system
    and everything will
work just dandy. But this doesn't work in Win 2000 for some reason.
Here is what I did to make it work for me.
    1. Uninstall Lookout, Lookout Direct, and DSPlus.
    2. Delete all folders that uninstall left, (Probably not necessary, but why
    not to be sure.)
    3. Restart Win 2000
    4. Install Lookout 4.0.1
    5. Restart Win 2000 (Probably not necessary, but why no
    t to be sure.)
    6. Install DSPlus into same directory as Lookout 4.0.1
    7. Restart Win 2000
    8. Start Lookout 4.0.1 and all works perfectly so far.
This combination with the built-in Web capability of Lookout 4.0.1 is just
    awesome.
Thought this might be useful to you in the furture.

  • Lookout OPC Communication Problems

I am running a Lookout process with an OPC server to connect to a
ControlLogix PLC. My Lookout process will not always reflect the
current state of hardware, i.e. simple Boolean objects do not update
on the display control panel. I can, in some cases cause the display
to change by changing the state of my hardware manually (actuating a
limit switch for example) thus Lookout sees an event and updates the
display. But this does not work in all cases so I have no way of
knowing if the display is accurate.
Similary, changing the position of Lookout switches and pushbuttons
on the control panel will be reflected in the plc ladder logic but not
write back to Lookout to report the change. This is true for both
    local and remote position source
    s. I should add that switching from
OPC1 to OPC2 or OPC2 to OPC1 can cause some signals to reflect what
hardware is doing but there is no definite consistency that one can
point to that will identify the problem.
Finally, communication between the OPC Server and the PLC is fully
functional and verifiable. So there seems to be a fundamental flaw in
my design any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Leo,
Have you tried turning On the Force refresh after write setting?
Also, try polling the device periodically to force the updates.

  • How does an analog input exceed its maximum?

    Lookout 5.1
    Modicon PLC
    Nitrate Analyzer
    Conductivity Analyzer
    Level Transmitters
Occasionally I'll have an analog signal in Modbus, i.e. F400302, formatted 0-32767 with engineering units set from 0-50 or 0-2000 or 0-3 and it exceeds that maximum sometimes by three to five times.  I didn't think that was possible.  Any ideas?

Disregard this thread.  It's a PLC thing, not Lookout.  I don't have any scaling.

  • How to implement Modbus Ethernet communication in Lookout, if we want to simulate the PC as PLC ?

    Problem Description :
    Dear Sir,
We are doing a project where we are using Lookout with
Front end Modicon PLC. The communication is by
    Ethernet, using Modbus.
Since the installation is at a distant place, we wanted
to use another PC (running Lookout) to simulate the
PLC. For this, we tried to communicate
a: the server Lookout PC running Modbus Ethernet mode of
    Modbus object as Master
b: with another PC (for simulating the PLC) running
    Modbus Slave
We did not get any communication. (we have given the
details of what we have done, at the end of this email)
We also tried connecting the above 2 PC's as
a: the server Lookout PC running Modbus Serial mode of
    Modbus object as Master
b: with another PC (for simulating the PLC) running
    Modbus Slave object
Again we did not get any communication.
If instead of PC (b) we connect the Modbus simulator to
PC (a), there is no problem in communicating
Please let us know how to go about establishing the
communication between 2 PC's using Modbus serial,
and Modbus Ethernet. A detailed step by step procedure
    would help us a lot.
    Thanking you

Procedure of our trial with ethernet.
This is what we have done in detail.
    On PC A:
We created an object (Pot) and connected it to
the modbus data member of the modbus object say 40001. In the
properties of the modbus object we selected modbus ethernet mode
of communication and in the IP address field we wrote the IP
address of the machine B to which we are trying to communicate
    i.e. 152.63.50.2.
On PC B: we tried the following two methods
Trial 1 : We created a modbus slave object and
inserted an expression for the same data memeber to which the
object was connected hoping to get the value of the pot of machine
    A on machine B.
Trial 2 : We created a modbus object on machine B and we wrote
the IP address of machine A and inserted an expression for the
same datamemeber to which the object was connected hoping to get
the value of the pot of machine A on machine B.

The ModbusSlave which comes with Lookout currently supports only Serial communication. So, you cannot use Ethernet between your two PCs. At least not with Modbus Master-Slave setup (if you must speak Ethernet between the two PCs, IPASCII object lets you do that, but then you'll need to implement your own protocol).
Since all you want to do is simulate a Modbus PLC on a PC, you can use the Serial mode of communication for now. And later on just modify the Object in your Server Lookout to use the Ethernet mode.
For setting up a Serial Modbus Slave, use a null-modem cable between the two PCs (lines 2 and 3 are swapped). On your PC 'B,' create the Modbus Slave object with the right COM port for that PC. And on your PC 'A' create the regular Modbus Object as if you w
ere connecting to the Modbus Simulator box. The only difference here is the cable. The simulator box uses a straight-through cable whereas the Slave needs a null-modem cable.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lookout connect PLC through local network

Hello, I am a new Lookout user.
Can I connect my PLC (with Modbus TPC module) with my PC (with Lookout) through the local network (i.e. connecting them by a switch box or router)?
We need to monitor our system but we don't want to put our PC on site. We are planning to setup a switch box on site and connect it to PLC with Modbus TPC module. Is it possible?

It is a networking problem. Actually Lookout doesn't know if there is a switch or not. Lookout just uses the ip address and port to make the connection. So you need to be able to ping the remote Modbus device's ip address and the port is not blocked.

  • How to address digital input & output, analogue input & output when communicate with mitsubishi fx1n plc

Try the above link. I know it is a screen-full, but is a search result for Matrikon. They have a whole slew of OPC servers/clients you can try out. Personally, I would go with their OPC server for the Mitsubishi, and use Labview Datasockets. That would be the simplest with the lowest learning curve.
Otherwise, if you wish to use Modbus, you would have to get the commands/syntax from Mitsubishi; might be in their user manual, but I wouldn't lay bets on it. With the Matrikon stuff, the syntax is all built in.
Good luck which ever way you decide to go.

  • Lookout OPC reads A-B PLC Output word bit 15 as negative.

I am using LabVIEW and Lookout OPC driver to read an output word from an Allen-Bradley PLC and display the bit values as booleans. When bit 15 goes to a logic one, the value the opc driver reads goes negative. this causes the Labview Number to boolean array converter to 'mis-read' the bit values. How can I prevent this mis-read?

I dealt with this problem a couple of years ago.
I had to write a VI that decode the bits and fixed it.
THe VI just checked the MSB and acted accordingly.

  • HELP!!! Using LabView to display/control Mitsubishi FX series PLCs

    Hello,
I am a LabView novice and have some questions around using LabView to control and display information from several laboratory instrumentation with a Mitsubishi FX series PLC. The communication protocol for the PLC is Profibus. What LabView modules/products do I need? Will I be using the OPC server and client to communicate to the PLC? Will I be using the device drivers? Is the device drivers the same as the OPC server. Will I need a profibus network card in the PC for Labview to communicate to the PLCs. Once again, I am a novice so please be patience if I ask more questions to understand your response.

    Hi,
The following thread seems to address a similar query:
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=27248&requireLogin=False
To answer some of your other questions:
    1. You'll be communicating with the Mitsubishi hardware using an OPC server.
    2. This isn't the same as the device drivers, though it could be included with the device drivers you got from Mitsubishi, you would have to check that with them.
    3. I don't know if you need a profibus network card in your machine, again, you'd have to check that with Mitsubishi
NI do provide OPC software but I'm not sure if your device is supported. Check if it's listed in the following supported device list. If not you should be able to get an OPC server from Mitsubishi. According to the thread linked above they have one that's compatible with LabVIEW.
The software NI provides that can communicate with OPC servers is called the Data Logging and Supervisory Control Module. What LabVIEW software do you currently have?
I would advise that you contact Mitsubishi to make sure you have all the necessary hardware first. Also, ask them about the OPC server software. Then you can work on controlling the PLCs with LabVIEW.
I hope this clarifies things but if not, post some more questions.

  • I have Mitsubishi PLC FX 128 MR model type, I have a scada which supports opc client. how do i communicate PLC and Scada. please note the the SCADA which i have does not have FX series PLC protocol.

    k

Use Mitsubishi's MX Component. This utilises activex and I have successfully managed to develope VI's to both read and write to the PLC for control and datalogging. MX Component currently retails at 299 GBP and I do not know of any other protocol on the market that you can use(Mits have told me that they do not know of any either and were not even aware that MX Component could be used with LV until I proved it to them). You can use this by directly connecting to the PLC using one of many different communication protocols(serial, ethernet, profibus etc.)
I am not sure how this will tie in with your SCADA package, are you using this as your front end because by using LV and MX Component you could do away with any bespoke SCADA and easily develope your own. I am curren
tly working on a VI that reads data from the PLC (FXon-24MR)in real time, displays it on a graph and logs it to a MySQL database complete with report production.
If you would like further details on how to use MX Component with LV(Its a doddle, really)then please email me at [email protected]

    Hi Previtali,
To use the MPI gate you will need to have a Profibus card installed in your system to act as an interpreter. This card is available from National Instruments. For more information search Profibus from the Online Store at:

  • Lookout 6.2 loading buffered data from PLC into Citadel database?

We are testing a Lookout small process application <200 I/O that is designed for continuous application. This is not a critical process, therefore we don't want to commit to duplicate Lookout Systems. However, we would like to buffer 24 words(16bit) in the PLC for 5-10 minutes so we would not loose that data when the computer running Lookout does a restart for example.
Our problem is how do we get this data into LookOut Citadel database in the proper time frame.
If loading this data into Citadel is not possible with the original trace, can we load into another database file and view this data separately?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First, you need to be able to get the data as well as the timestamp from the PLC.
With all the data and timestamp, you can use the Logger object to log data to Citadel. Take a look at this example. The Logger_discrete object.
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3816
But the problem is that the data is not logged to the original trace. It is logged to the logger object trace.
