  • Please help - Ipod freezes when playing any video

    Hi
I only got my ipod video a day ago and it wont play any video files. Everytime i go to play a video it freezes and just shows a black screen. I have tried downloading a music video from the itunes store and this wont work either. When i first got it i did play one video, im not sure if this was before i updated the firmware though?
I cannot figure out how to reset the firmware if this is what i need to do?
I would really appreciate some advice.
    Thanks in advance.

I just got my iPod like two months ago and it wouldn't play any video podcast until I downloaded the new iTunes software. Now it plays some video podcasts but not all. I tried to watch some new podcasts I had downloaded from iTunes and it would play some of it then just freeze and make these wierd sounds. I tried again and it totally froze where I couldn't do anything, not even turn it off. It stayed that way until the battery was completely drained then it turned itself off later that night. The next morning I charged it up and it worked fine but I still can't watch those podcasts. Please help, cause this thing is pretty much brand new and for the amount of money I spent on it I don't want it to start giving me problems after only two months.

  • Please help Ipod charged but just does not come on

I have a new Ipod Nano which is a gift . I have charged it on my laptop which has windows however it displays only when plugged into my lap top, once disconnected post charging it does not come on , please help.

So he is going to upgrade his Acer computer running Windows 7 to Snow Leopard that will fix his problem. How will he install it?
Other than on their website, in the online store, and on the back of the box itself, Apple did not let you know the minimum specifications? Were they supposed to send you a Christmas card with the information? Please don't tell me that when you buy software you don't read the minimum specifications first.
That said, unless you want to upgrade iLife and the same time and purchase iWorks, you can buy the Snow Leopard retail disk for $29 and it will install just fine, assuming that your computer meets the minimum specifications. You might want to post back here with information on your computer just to make sure.
If you are like me and don't use all the applications in iLife and iWorks I word forgo the box set (which is a good price) and buy the apps you want from the Mac App Store. That way if you have no used for Garageband you can buy iPhoto and Pages from iWorks and move on. Need a spreadsheet? You can buy Numbers.

  • PLEASE help - iPod freezing, cannot restart

Okay. So my iPod froze, and then ran out of batteries. My iPod also did not (and does not) show up in my iTunes account where it normally would. When it ran out of batteries, I plugged it into my computer and held down the Select and Menu buttons. An apple came up on the screen. I didn't realize the apple was SUPPOSED to be there, so I held down the Menu and Select buttons again. It made a weird musical sound (coming directly from the iPod, the headphones were not plugged in) and now the screen is blank and white. I tried "updating" the iPod in order to completely reset it, but it says that there is a software malfunction.
I would really, really, REALLY appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to make my iPod go back to normal.
(second time I've posted this, I know, but no one replied)

If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC

  • PLEASE HELP - Ipod Showing In My Comp But Not Itunes Etc

    Hi there
Can someone PLEASE help me! I am at my wits end with my Ipod.
A few weeks ago I was in the middle of listening to a song and my ipod crashed then switched itself off. Ever since then I haven't been able to get it to connect to Itunes or the Updater and it won't play anything.
When I switch the ipod on I get various errors ranging from the unhappy ipod to the folder with the exclamation mark.
When I connect my ipod to my pc an autoplay window appears and sometimes I get an error saying the drive my ipod is connected to isn't formatted.
So far I have tried the following
    Reinstalled Itunes
Going into Disk Management and changing the Drive the ipod uses
    Reset The Ipod
    Tried Using Another USB Port
Put the Ipod Into Disk Mode
Nothing Works! After I changed the drive the ipod uses things looked promising. The Ipod was detected by the updater and it was started to restore the ipod however after a few minutes the ipod seemed to lose the connection and I got the error with the Battery icon.
    Can someone please help me!

"my dad pressed view and then he chose the 3rd picture thing and songs went into."
Sorry, I don't know what that means.
Have you had a chance to look through these?
USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date.
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.

  • Please help. ipod will not show up and i have tried everything

i got my ipod two days ago. ipod nano 4gb.
when i plug it into my computer it comes up with 'do not disconnect' and occasionally a small circle icon in the top left-hand corner. the computer recognises that there is a 'mass storage device' connected, but the ipod doesnt appear in itunes or my computer.
when i unplug the ipod it displays the apple symbol and then goes to the language selection menu. after i disconnect it i also get a message saying that the file could not be saved to the drive because it was interrupeted or something like that and i should try storing it somewhere else.
so thinking that maybe this was it being updated, i let it plugged in all day while i was at school because surely that would be plenty of time for anything to load onto it. But when i got home today it did the same thing.
I have two computers and the same thing happens on both.
I have tried it using my sisters usb cable, still nothing works.
Any ideas? Oh on one of my computers it doesnt let me uninstall itunes as well.
And when I try to open the updater to restore the ipod it freezes the application and i have to do controlaltdelete and close it.
I am SO angry about it right now.
Since i only bought it a few days ago do you think i could get a repleacement from the store where i got it or will i have to go all the way through apple.
I havnt been able to use it once and it is making me very frustrated, please help me if you have any ideas.

    Sally,
OK since you using 2 computers, we will first focus on the one that will not uninstall iTunes, afterwareds we will get the ipod working on one PC first.
On the PC that will not uninstall iTUnes, goto control panel>add and remove and try if you can to uninstall iTUnes AND quicktime. Then go here and roll down to "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Once done disable any antivirus or security programs, then goto apple.com to download and install the latest iTUnes.
Also on BOTH pcs make sure you have "ipod updater 06-28-2006" you can download and install it here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
Once iTunes is properly installed on this PC, you need to only connect your nano to the main PC you use for now so we can get it working, then we'll focus on the other PC if needed

  • PLEASE HELP, Ipod corrupt

I have a whole list of events that happened, but the worst part is, my ipod still will not work with my itunes. Here's my story (i'm trying to put in as much detail as possible for hope that somebody can help):
I have a 30GB 5th generation Ipod video, and I use windows XP. I've had this Ipod for about 2 months and it worked great using Itunes 7.0 and 7.0.1.
I updated to Itunes 7.0.2 and the next time I plugged in my ipod, the itunes didn't recognize it, nor did my computer. I went through a series of steps with an apple agent, including renaming the disk drive letter, and finally my Ipod would be recognized. Everytime the ipod was plugged in however, this "autorun" program began to run. It So eventually when the autorun would stop, it kept saying "This ipod may be corrupt. Restore it, or try disconnecting and reconnecting it". Once I got this message that said "an unknown error has occured [1418]. I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, and nothing seems to work.
So I restored it. And then it restarts, and once again I get the same message over and over again. I keep restoring it and it doesn't work. So the agent told me to send it to apple for repairs.
So apple sends it back saying nothing was wrong with the Ipod. But it still keeps saying it is corrupted on itunes.
So I talk to another apple agent, and we go through another series of steps, and now the Ipod is not recognized by itunes anymore. I downloaded itunes 6.0 which wouldn't work with my existing libraries, so I went back to the original 7.0 and it still doesn't work.
PLEASE HELP ME i'm dying without my ipod!

This program http://www.copytrans.net/doctor.php may fix it up.

  • Please Help- IPod Classic and Mac/Itunes

    Hi all,
I'm new here because I have a bit of a problem. Please forgive me for my lack of general computer/Ipod knowledge...
I purchased my MacBook about 4 1/2 years ago. I'm not sure exactly what model I have, but the age should help you determine that.
I also purchased my Ipod about 5 years ago. I think it's the first "video" Ipod that came out. It's 40 Gig, white, and pretty basic.
I've taken exquisite care of my Ipod because I'm just interested in putting my new CD's on it, and taking it with me in the car so I don't have to lug around 40 CD's all the time.
Anyway, for the last 2 years or so, my process of putting new music on my IPod was as follows:
    1. Open Itunes
    2. Import CD
    3. Hook Ipod up to the USB port (my Ipod is not synched)
    4. Click and highlight the new CD and drag it to my Ipod
    5. After updating, disconnect my Ipod
    6. Delete CD off of Itunes libary
This has gone off without a hitch for quite some time.
The other day, I went through this exact process, as I've purchased a new CD, but I had an issue.
After I plugged my Ipod in, Itunes recognized it, as usual. But, on the Ipod screen, it continued to flash "do not disconnect." After a half hour of waiting, it didn't go away. I tried to drag the new songs to my Ipod like usual, and then disconnect, but to no avail.
In the past, when I hooked up my Ipod, after about 20 seconds, the "Do Not Disconnect" screen would disappear, and take me to my main menu (on the Ipod).
Now, that screen doesn't turn off, and I can't get new songs onto the device.
Please help...I'm not very good with any of this, and would very much like to hear my new music.
    Thanks for your help!
    Jeff

hold the menu and middle buttons down together until the screen on the ipod goes blank. that restarts it then try your normal process again

  • Please Help, Ipod Not Working Correctly

Hi, I recentely downloaded an episode of monk, and when I went to put it on my iPod it doesn't work. I click it in the iPod, and then the screen goes blank and doesnt ever play, then it returns to the main screen after 30 seconds. How can I fix this?

    i had the same problem
the only difference is that the video tries to load, but it jus doesnt - u hear the hard constantly spinning, and after like 5 seconds the ipod freezes.
    =/
o well only 1 video does that

  • AHHH! major problems. Please help. (iPod wont restore)

Having tried every FAQ recommendations i could find, nothing is working. I have a 4th gen 20GB click wheel, no color, and when i plug in the USB it does one of several things, 1. the ipod freezes and seems to be stuck in the loading mode. 2. is not recognized by windows, 3. an autoplay loading thing pops up, (note that the du-DU noise is made when i plug it in, if this happens), and 4. if im really lucky, i mean its only happened about 2/60 times, it will be recognized and appear in itunes, asking me to restore it do to corruption, and then i get an error message about a file not being downloadable or something, ive done everything the FAQ asks including reinstalling it multiple times, deleting all old versions, everything, but it wont recognize the iPod. I used to have problems with it being corrupt but it would just restore like normal and would work everytime i plugged it in. Also, sometimes i try using both the 1337 Firewire and USB 2.0 because i have the double cable. Nothing seems to work, but I desperatly need my iPod. Music is pretty much my life.

Ok, now i tried http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304309 but its not doing me any good either, when i got to the iTunes folder (i had "Show hidden files" on) it only showed me two things, 1. a folder titled SC Info containing 2 files, SC Info.sidb and SC Info.sidd. 2. a file "iPodDevices" and XML file that opens up a page with this on it...

  • Please help ipod not formatting

    please help
going on long trip, want to use ipod for first time
when insert ipod cd, asks to connnect ipod, recognizes ipod
attached using USB2.0, says needs format, click on format, just sits there with blue bar scrolling left to right while saying waiting for ipod, and does not let you click on back button format button, or cancel button
so close window and window behing which couldn't see before says enter serial #, do that goes through rest of installation, then if plug in ipod, windows recognizes it but itunes doesn't, also when using ipod updater says plug in ipod so i do but never allows me to click update or restore
problems probably all related to formatting issue
have tried several solutions suggested on web but none work
    so disappointed
    appreciate any help

The best way is to restore the iPod Updater (latest version please)instead of formatting, unless your iPod could not get recongized by your PC. I will try to put it in Disk Mode (press "Select"+"Play" keys) and connect with your PC, open your iTunes and hope that you can see your iPod's icon in it, then open the iPod updater and do a restore.
If you still cant solve your probelm, someone in this forum suggested to do a chkdsk.
I got disappointed with the XP, I finally managed to format my iPod using 3rd party software i.e. "Partition Magic" and got it fixed up

I dont know if this will help any, but mine said that also for a while.
But then I realized that since I have it on manual, I have to eject it first.
If you have it on manual, then there's probably a thing in the source section that had the iPod icon with "(wahtever your nname is)'s iPod" and right by that should be an eject looking button.
    click it.
now see if the "Do not disconnect" thing goes off?
