Plugins, deployment & Qt on a Mac

I have a plug-in that links to the Qt framework (QtCore.framework and QtGui.framework) on Mac OS X 10.6.8 - XCode 3.2.6
So I'm trying to deploy the plug-in onto a mac that doesn't already have the Qt framework installed, but with no success so far. This is what I've done:
Added a Copy Files Build Phase to copy QtCore.framework & QtGui.framework to my plug-in bundle's Frameworks folder.
Added a "Run Script Phase" to alter the install names of the frameworks which looks like this:
install_name_tool -id @loader_path/../Frameworks/QtCore.framework/Versions/4/QtCore ${BUILD_DIR}"/"${WRAPPER_NAME}/Contents/Frameworks/QtCore.framework/Versions/4/QtCore
install_name_tool -id @loader_path/../Frameworks/QtGui.framework/Versions/4/QtGui ${BUILD_DIR}"/"${WRAPPER_NAME}/Contents/Frameworks/QtGui.framework/Versions/4/QtGui
install_name_tool -change /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.7.4/lib/QtCore.framework/Versions/4/QtCore @loader_path/../Frameworks/QtCore.framework/Versions/4/QtCore ${BUILD_DIR}"/"${WRAPPER_NAME}/Contents/MacOS/QtDeploymentTest
install_name_tool -change /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.7.4/lib/QtGui.framework/Versions/4/QtGui@loader_path/../Framewo rks/QtGui.framework/Version/4/QtGui ${BUILD_DIR}"/"${WRAPPER_NAME}/Contents/MacOS/QtDeploymentTest
install_name_tool -change /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.7.4/lib/QtCore.framework/Versions/4/QtCore @loader_path/../Frameworks/QtCore.framework/Versions/4/QtCore ${BUILD_DIR}"/"${WRAPPER_NAME}/Contents/Frameworks/QtGui.framework/Versions/4/QtGui
But when Illustrator attempts to load the plug-in on the target mac, I'm getting this error:
Error loading /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS5.1/Plug-ins.localized/QtDeploymentTest.aip/Contents/MacOS/QtDeploymentTest:  dlopen(/Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS5.1/Plug-ins.localized/QtDeploymentTest.aip/Contents/MacOS/QtDeploymentTest, 262): Library not loaded: @loader_path/../Frameworks/QtCore.framework/QtCore
  Referenced from: /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS5.1/Plug-ins.localized/QtDeploymentTest.aip/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/QtGui.framewor k/QtGui
  Reason: image not found
Any ideas anyone? I was under the understanding that @loader_path should be the path to my plug-in's executable but ld still fails to load it.

Garvan, you are a legend, thank you!
AFAIK, the @loader_path is set to QtGui once that is being loaded.
^ This was the vital piece of info I've been missing. I knew that QtGui loaded QtCore but I wasn't aware that @loader_path was reset once a library had been loaded.
I wasn't aware of @rpath until I read an article today stating that it should be used in favour of @loader_path, I'll be looking into that next!
FYI, your '..' count was spot on
Much appreciated as always, thanks again.

  • Aperture 3, Photoshop CS5 and OnOne Plugin Suite 5.1 for Mac

    Hi yall,
I mostly use Aperture 3.1.3 to manage my photos.
I got a new iMac and installed this software and recovered my Aperture Library. All is fine.
But I also installed my Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection for Mac, and y OnOne Plugin Suite 5.1 for Mac and ... it doesn't work.
Aperture doesn't find either Photoshop nor OnOne as external modules.
Can anyone tell me how to force Aperture to find those modules?
    Thank you
    Jean

I've never used any of the Nik plugins, but I think it's bogus that it's a separate purchase for PS and A3. My Noise Ninja, for example, works with A3, PS or as a stand alone.
Agree 100%.  I have a long simmering discussion going on with Nik support about this (and the fact that the current workflow is destructive and, though it is reproducible, is not consistent from a UI POV).  I'm sorry that I didn't just start w. PS and Nik's PS Suite (which I still don't own).

For anyone who owns PS I would absolutely buy plugins for PS over A3.  You're breaking of the non-destructive workflow either way so you might as well have all the power and flexibility of photoshop along with your plugin.  I see no advantage to running plugins from Aperture.
Also agree 100% (and you point here is important and affects users).  I think (don't know PS well) the workflow once in PS is either non-destructive or close to it.  Certainly much more so -- and much easier to administer (=know what you did) -- than via Aperture-to-plug-in.

I would go a step further and say buy Photoshop before spending 100s of dollars on plugins.
That's gonna depend an awful lot on whether you can get your money's worth from PS.  The Nik tools are very sweet, and (imho, obviously) superbly tuned to manipulating digital photographs.
I would like to have Nik's "drawing board" (I just made that up, but basically their UI for interacting with the planar data, including their U-Points), PhotoShop's tool chest, and Aperture's organizing abilities.  For $200 US.

  • Need Photoshop Elements RAW plugin for Canon 70D using MAC

Need Photoshop Elements RAW plugin for Canon 70D using MAC - please advise where I can find it to download. Thanks.

To work with the Canon 70D, you will need Camera Raw version 8.2 or later:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
In order to work with this version of Camera Raw, you will need Photoshop Elements 12:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
If you do not have Photoshop Elements 12, you can use the DNG converter to convert the CR2 files to DNG, which will then work in whatever version of Photoshop Elements you have:
    Windows: https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh

  • How to fix blocked plugins in safari on a Mac OS X

How to fix blocked plugins in Safari on my Mac OS X?

    Which plug-ins, specifically?
If the plug-in was disabled by Apple, it's usually because of a security update (<cough>Flash</cough>), in which case the solution is to update to the latest ('more secure') version.
If you're on a corporate network then certain plug-ins may be disabled by your network admins - talk to them about.
If neither of the above apply then you should be able to manage settings via Safari -> Preferences -> Security -> Internet plug-ins

  • Orphan job during the plugin deploy

    Hi,
I was deploying a plugin on our em system and the plugin deployment failed. Due to experience with a plugin deployment failure before, I knew that I would have to restore. I had taken a backup of the OMS servers by creating a tar file of the entire directory structure for the Home. I copied that back over to restore the oms servers. I also then restored the repository back to about the same time. I followed the steps documented for recovering EM after a failure and everything came back up successfully. However, when I now try to deploy a plugin, I get the error message that there is already a plugin deployment running.
When I check deployment activities, I don’t see any deployment activities at all.
I looked at the job activities and did not find any. I then ran the db query and found this:
    SQL> select deployment_id, deploy_progress_on, lock_date_utc from em_plugin_lock_track where deployment_id > 0 and deploy_progress_on='OMS';
    DEPLOYMENT_ID DEPLOY_P LOCK_DATE
    46 OMS 06-APR-13
    How to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The earlier deployment was not got initiated, but the reference id was created, which was blocking the current deployment.
You can verify the issue from the following:
    1. Login in to cloud control
    Setup --> Extensibility --> Plugi-ns
Click on Actions --> Deployment Activities
    2. Verify if No jobs created using that Deployment ID
Go to Enterprise -> Jobs -> Activity
    and search for '%Plugin%'
see if any job turns up with id "ID" marked in the job name
    3. Verify the command output:
    $ emcli get_plugin_deployment_status -deployment_ID=<ID>
This will not return any rows.
    4. But reference of this Deployment ID exists in the tables:
    SQL> SELECT deployment_id,deploy_progress_on tier,lock_date_utc started_utc FROM em_plugin_lock_track l WHERE deployment_id>0 AND deploy_progress_on='OMS';
    5. Running EMDIAG will list the following in Plugin Module:
    verifyPLUGINS
    7001. Orphan plugin deploy
Confirm the above and that would give more explanation and narrow the issue down.
    Regards,
    Venkat

MacKeeper, being poorly written, acts like highly invasive malware* that can de-stablize your operating system. It is also unethically marketed and a rip-off, offering nothing that is not available for free.. Positive reviews of it are known to have been paid for by the developers, Zeobit.
Further opinion on it and how to uninstall MacKeeper malware:
    http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/
Do NOT download or use the ‘MacKeeper uninstaller’ from the Zeobit site, as this will cause even more damage to your operating system.
    This is also worth reading:

  • Does FLV export plugin work with macpro (intel macs)?

i have a macpro (intel based mac), flash 8 professional and
quicktime pro. flash 8 professional comes the FLV quicktime plugin
that lets you export to FLV from quicktime. the plugin is installed
and is in the quicktime plugin folder but the export option does
not appear in the export drop down.
i have the same set up on a PPC mac and i have no problems
with exporting FLVs from quicktime pro.
i have the feeling that the plugin doesn't work on intel macs
but don't know for sure. is there anyone here who is running an
intel mac, quicktime pro and flash professional? if so, does the
FLV option appear in quicktime's export drop down?
i can't find any information anywhere on this.
    thanks

    thanks.
i can use the flv encoder fine BUT flash pro 8 installs a
quicktime plugin that allows any app that exports using the
quicktime engine to save as flvs. on my non intel mac i can open up
a video in quicktime pro, select export and choose FLV. on the
intel i can't do that because the FLV option is not appearing in
the export drop down. i checked the pluging and it is installed but
it's not appearing as an export option.
i'm trying to check to see if others are experiencing the
same problem. is the flv plugin not compatible with intel macs? is
    it compatible with quicktime7? etc.

  • Plugin deployment

    Hello
I'm developing plugins for CS3, 4, 5 and 6 for MacOSX and Windows. I want to simplify the deployment process for our customers. Today they have to set an additional folder in the preferences of Illustrator.
How can we know the version of Illustrator and where to put automatically the plugins in a directory where Illustrator will find them without user intervention ?
On MacOSX I use packagemaker and on Windows I use a Windows Installer.

I can't help you on Mac, but there's a whole lot of painful stupidity to try and figure this out on the PC. I have to check two different registry keys (one in the WOW64Node to see if I'm finding a 32-bit on a 64-bit system) just to identify the proper Illustrator root folder (for each architecture that exists -- this is for CS6 mind you. Then I have to go looking one level down from there for something like '3D.aip' -- that gives me a folder one up from the plugin folder.
Granted, if the 3D.aip isn't there, you're boned. But there's no other way then to look for a 'built-in' plugin -- and its hard to find one that doesn't change names between different language versions.
For CS5 its the same process, I just use HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Illustrator.CS5.DefaultIcon and get the Illustrator.exe's location from there. I imagine it'd work similarly for CS3 & CS4. Then I do the same as above, searching for 3D.aip.

  • Help with updating plugin for raws on a mac please

    Hi,
I've got a mac on os 10.4.11 with 2 GB of memory.
I had Elements 4.0 on it, but had to upgrade to the current release to get compatibility with my new camera and it's raw format.
I installed Elements 8.0, and it worked fine but needed a plugin upgrade to see my new cameras raws.
I then followed the installation instructions (except the part about the Camera Raw.8bi file which doesn't seem to exist on my system...??)
to go to the plugin v 6.1 (also tried v6.2) and when I do, and I relaunch Elements, it doesn't recognize the file, and if I click Photoshop Elements > About Plugin > Camera Raw ... I get the error "Could not complete the Camera Raw command because there is not enough memory (RAM)" -- this makes no sense to me given that I have 2 GB on the machine, and am not running any other software. Here are the steps I took to do the update of the plugin:
    Download it
    Stop elements
drill the folder where the orig plugin is (in the plugins\file formats directory)
Replace the original plugin with the new one
    Start Elements
    run the cameraprofiles.mpkg file
    Stop Elements
    Start Elements
click Photoshop Elements > About Plugin > Camera Raw ...
    <Error as stated above>
so, what the heck am I missing?
    Thanks
    Dave

Okay, something is wrong with your procedure.
    You need to go here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Macintosh
and download the plug-in. (I'd stick to 6.1 for right now, since several people are reporting problems wit 6.2, if your camera works with 6.1).
Put the .plugin file in the specified location (per the readme file), but you must remove any older versions first, no matter what the instructions may say.
To update bridge, go to Help>Updates in bridge, but you can't update bridge past ACR 5.7.

  • What tools should I use to create a UI for an AEGP plugin for CS6 on a Mac

I see that for CC the suggested UI tool is HTML5, but what should be used for developing a plugin that must also run in CS6 on a Mac?

For CS6, you can create panels using ScriptUI, to add a custom panel to the Window menu.
A script like this would be installed here: ..\Adobe After Effects CS6\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels\
For ScriptUI, there is some documentation in the JavaScript Tools Guide, accessible from the ExtendScript Toolkit application > Help > JavaScript Tools Guide; and also here - http://www.kahrel.plus.com/indesign/scriptui.html

    From the first link:
By default, Chrome uses a built in viewer to open PDFs. If you've disabled the built-in PDF viewer, Chrome will use Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader to display PDFs. Follow the suggestions at the first link if you're having trouble viewing PDFs within Chrome, using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
First check if the issue is specific to Chrome. Try opening PDFs in another browser on your computer, such as Firefox. If you experience similar problems viewing PDFs in another browser, the issue is likely not related to Chrome.

Try re-starting admin server by doing:
    1) emctl stop oms -all
    2) Check if any java processes are running from middleware (ps -ef | grep EMGC_ADMINSERVER, ps -ef | grep EMGC_OMS1, ps -ef | grep <MW_HOME>) and kill them using 'kill -9'
    3) emctl start oms
    4) Re-try plug-in deployment
I think as long as admin server is in FAILED_NOT_RESTARTABLE state, plug-in deployment cannot succeed.

Can anybody please point me to the right place to look for a howto kind of doc
on how to create a new plugin. The e-docs section that i am using is very tailored
to sampleplugin and it doesn't talk about things at a generic level.
If somebody has a working plugin, Please send me your config files.
    Munish
    [plugin.jar]

did you change all the deployment orders for a reason? it might be
something to do with that. your plugin should should be deployed before
the system tries to locate all the plugins (i am not sure which bean
does this, but try moving your bean up in the deployment order)
does it start ok without your plugin?

    Hi Guys,
My environment is wl6.1sp2 and wli 2.1.
I am trying to develop a bpm event plugin. I just copied the Event plugin files
from the sample plugin and packaged them in my own package structure and am trying
to deply this. I am not clear as to what all needs to be in the EJBComponent section
of config.xml. This is all that I have right now.
    <EJBComponent DeploymentOrder="0" Name="repository-ejb.jar"

    Targets="myserver" URI="wlxtpi.war"/>
    <EJBComponent DeploymentOrder="10" Name="plugin.jar"

the last one plugin.jar is where i packaged the event plugin . I am ataching that
with this mail. I am getting the following exception at startup.

Can anybody please point me to the right place to look for a howto kind of doc
on how to create a new plugin. The e-docs section that i am using is very tailored
to sampleplugin and it doesn't talk about things at a generic level.
If somebody has a working plugin, Please send me your config files.

  • Quicktime Plugin Issue in Safari on Mac OSX Lion.

(Strange) Safari - Quicktime - issue on Mac OSX Lion (All Updates done - 20/11/2011)
Strange issue with Safari - Quicktime video playing - on Mac OSX Lion (All updates done till 20th Nov 2011 night)
Problem discovery: Tried to view the Apple iPhone 4S Keynote on Apple Website. Strange that Safari does not display any videos from Apple Website.
Following works OK:- You Tube worked fine.
    - Google Chrome worked fine. (It shows the quick time player loading and then displays the video absolutely fine.)
Conclusion: There is some problem with Safari Quicktime Plug-in.
    Strange Discovery:
    - There are two users on the MAC. Logged in with a general user (Non Admin)
    - When tried to view Apple Videos on Safary ... THEY WORKED FINE !!!
    - The user where they donot work is an ADMIN User ... Strange !!!
    System:
    - Mac-Mini 2010 - 8 GB RAM - with OSX Lion fully software updated until 20th Nov 2011 night.
    - DIVX is installed and is also a paid version - registered with DIVX website.
    - VLC is installed.
    - Perian was installed - after problem discovery - uninstalled it - no use.
Please help with a solution if anyone has faced and solved this problem. Sub question is : If DIVX / anyother plug-in causes problems with QuickTime plugin on Safari, why does it affect only one user on the system and not other users on that system ?
    Notes:
    1) There is a similar looking thread on MacRumors here but concluded that required to start a seperate one with clear problem statement.
    2) Apple Forums
    (a) One thread on topic that hints that some 3IVX plug-in can cause issues with Safari Quicktime Plugin: here
    (b) Another thread from Apple Forum, that hints that DIVX causes problems to Safari Quicktime Plug in, Link is Here

Refer to a thread on Apple Discussions Forum itself, Link is HERE; refer to the posting by "Charles Cole",

Re: Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
Aug 2, 2011 8:09 PM (in response to Landrix)
Charles writes about DIVX and QuickTime Plugin conflict in Safari:
One thing I've discovered that might help anyone having a Quicktime Plug-in issue. If you have DivX as a codec on your system (usually installed to play .avi files) you'll want to uninstall it so that Sarfari 5.1 will default to the Quicktime Plug-In and not the DivX plug-in. Otherwise, you can't see Quicktime movies in Safari.
Note: this post is about and at the time of OSX Lions launch, i.e. 10.7.0.
Now we have 10.7.2, still cannot believe Apple has not fixed this bug !!!

  • Problems after update of plugin on FF & Safari on Mac

After the latest Flash plugin update on Firefox and Safari (15.0.0.152) on Mac, almost all flash websites don't get past the preloader .
    Check out www.ou-vert.be, www.marcvanloo.be or www.wiams.be
While all of these sites work fine on Mac/Chrome and Windows/IE/FF/Chrome...
    Please help!

    Hi Senor-Figoo,
Unfortunately, I'm not able to reproduce.  Flash content displays on the sites you list for me on OS X 10.7.5.  I have tried other popular sites that use Flash and was not able to reproduce.  Have you checked to see if plug-ins are enabled on Safari (Enable for Safari)?
