Policy error but no policies should apply
Hi,
I'm getting some strange errors (and 1/2 ZEN agent crashes each day) on my
Citrix servers. W2K3R2SP2/PS40/.NET2SP2/.NET35SP1/Zen 10.3.2. The error
below points to a remote management policy and/or a printer policy. But we
don't have a printer policy and our remote management policy only has a
relationship with 'workstations', not servers. We have numerous errors on
three system bundles that I can't locate with zman ogp <bundle ID>. Haven't
got a clue if these issues are related.
Category: ActionManager
ActionMan.ActionContinueOnFailure: The action remote management policy

however the action is set to continue on failure.
Any ideas?

Hi Shaun,
But this TID has no solution, -- issue has been reported to engineering--?
I did change the Windows TEMP folder from c:\windows\temp to d:\temp on this
particular server.

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".

The Hardware Test detected a RAM problem. Take out the chips and make certain that the connections are clean and reinstall them. Make certain that they are well seated.
If the problem occurs again, test with one chip at a time. Also swap bays if necessary.
Please indicate if you have installed new RAM and if so what brand and the specifications.

Why won't people just read? The compiler prints out a perfectly comprehensible error message not only telling them what's wrong, but even how to fix it, and they just throw their hands up! "It's all too hard! Why can't someone just tell me the answer? Where's my tutor?"
Arrgh! Try working with these people: code, code, code, ooops! Red flag! Can't code any more! I don't understand!
The supposed difference between a computer and a human is that humans are supposed to get creative when faced with a difficulty, but some of 'em make you wonder.

Can't open old Numbers spreadsheet after upgrading Mac to Yosemite. Error message says it should first be upgraded to Numbers 09 but doesn't provide method to do so? Help?
There is a chance the spreadsheets were made with a Numbers or AppleWorks version so old that it's not compatible anymore with the latest Numbers version (yes this can happen)

I forgot my passcode, then I decided to restore through Itune but it says iphone 3 could not be restored error 1015 occurred. what should I do?
Was the computer used to jailbreak a different iOS device? Are you trying to forcibly install a version of iOS other than the current version for your device? (4.2.1 for the 3G, 6.0.1 for the 4 and 4S, 6.0.2 for the 5).
Those are the only other reasons you would get that error other than an extremely rare hardware failure. -
ZCM 11 Group Policies not applying to satellite servers
Hi there
We are running 2 Windows 2012 Primary Servers and a SQL 2012 Database server at our main site, all remote sites have SLES11 SP2/OES11 SP1 as satellite servers. We upgraded all servers last weekend to 11.3.1 and now have an issue with Group Policies applying to the satellites. The satellites are all set up the same with Authentication, Collection, Content and Imaging roles.
Since we upgraded Group Policies are (99% of the time) not applying on satellite sites. I have tried manually replicating content (I assume policies will come from content replication?) to the satellites - I've done this with a zac cdp replicate and zac cvc and everything seems to replicate over however I tried highlighting a satellite server and clicking on Action, Specify Content - select the Policy that is not applying and move it into the selected Content to update column and when I click finish I get the error "The Wizard cannot continue for the following reason(s): Unable to complete your request for the following reason: Error updating content"
On a managed device at the satellite site if you look at the properties of the Zenworks agent and click on Policies it has applied 4 device assigned policies successfully - Remote Management, Power Management, Application Launcher Config and Application Control Policy, also has successfully applied 3 out of the 4 User Assigned Policies - Mandatory Profile, Dynamic Local User, Application Control - but not the Windows Group Policy.
Our PCs are on Windows 8.1 and all policies were applying fine before the weekend upgrade......
Has anyone else had any experience of Group Policies not applying that could point me where to look? I have logged an SR with Novell through our reseller but as yet I am getting no response back at all, not even asking me for more information.
Many thanks
SharonSounds like you have a content replication issue more than a GPO issue.
Especially if the GPO works for locations that point to the Primaries
for Content.
Do you have throttling configured anywhere in any fashion?
You may need to increase the Replication Timeout to make sure content is
getting over to the Sats. Often increasing from 60 to 240 helps, but
watch out for throttling preventing content replication.
It is possible things are backing up.

Group Policy error 1112 - Drive Maps
Hi everyone
We are getting hundreds of these alerts from SCOM every day from multiple 2008 R2 terminal servers:
Alert from Operations Manager 2007:
Alert description: The Group Policy Client Side Extension Group Policy Drive Maps was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup or user logon. The system will wait for Group Policy processing to finish
completely before the next startup or logon for this user, and this may result in slow startup and boot performance.
Looking on the Server itself in the System log I see these entries for every time a user logs onto the server (via RemoteApp)

However it each case the user still gets their drive mapping!
I've this only occurs with Drive Map GP Preference -I've even taken a user out of all policies except for a new test drive map policy and they still get this error. I've applied the hotfix that should be the latest version of the GP dll's (KB2622802) but
the error remains. I've tried all options within the GPP for Drive Maps - Update, Replace etc,
Should I just override the OpsMgr alerts? It seems like this is a bug with 2008 server and GP Drive Map Preferences?
Any ideas would be appreciated
Thanks

I must admit that I never used Drive Maps on a Server (-: Maybe this is
a bug in the Drive Maps CSE... If it bothers: Set NoBackgroundPolicy
(REG_DWORD) to 1 in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\GPExtensions\
{5794DAFD-BE60-433f-88A2-1A31939AC01F}. This will prevent the Drive Maps
CSE from being invoked during background GP updates.

Server giving group policy error 4098
I have been developing group policies to replace our login script. The policy copies many files over from a shared network drive. On many of the policies I have set it to run in the local user's security context so that the GP will pick up the
drive letters (they are different depending on the office). On one server in a remote office where the Group Policy is not applied I keep getting errors every time I enable the policies in a separate test OU. It does not make any sense to me as
the policies should not apply to this server, the server is not a domain controller, and I did not login to this server under my user account.
Here is an example of the errors (there are hundreds of similar errors):
The user 'Worksharing Monitor for Autodesk Revit 2011.lnk' preference item in the 'New Cadd {184A655E-D801-4589-AAF4-37788F771193}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.'
This error was suppressed.
The user 'AutoCAD 2011 - English.lnk' preference item in the 'New Cadd {184A655E-D801-4589-AAF4-37788F771193}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.' This error was suppressed.
Any ideas?
Thanks!Hi,
You cannot the computer configuration policies to users. Please first of all , provide a new policy in the user configuration - shortcut" , and move the users that applying the shortcut policies to related OU. And gpupdate -- try again.
Thanks.

Windows 8.1 - Security policies not applying
Hi All,
I'm having a bit of an issue with group policy settings not applying on Windows 8.1. Most of the policies are applying as they should but for some
reason certain security settings (Password policy, Account lockout policy, Interactive logon message etc.) are not.
I can see from GPResult that the policy is not filtered out and can confirm that some of the settings from the policy are getting applied!
FYI: The DC is WS2003 and we have not imported the Windows 8.1 ADMX templates... Could that be causing the issue?
Any help you guys might be able offer would be greatly appreciated! As I know, Security policy like Password policy, Account lockout policy, Interactive logon message should work even the DC is Win Server 2003.
I suggest you check whether these policy are overridden by other GPOs due to the the GPO Priority, you can find detailed information in this link

Custom SCEP Policies not applied
Hi All,
I've got 3 test systems with SCEP installed. They all receive definitions just fine. Unfortunately they are not receiving the custom antimalware policies i've created. I found this blog that tells me a command i can run against the registry
to see what policies are applied:
reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM\EPAgent\LastAppliedPolicy /f 2 /d
http://www.niallbrady.com/2013/02/17/how-can-i-determine-what-antimalware-policy-is-applied-to-my-scep-2012-sp1-client/
and it returns the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM\EPAgent\LastAppliedPolicy
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy (Scan Schedule) REG_DWORD 0x2
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy (Threat Default Action) REG_DWORD 0x2
Windows Server Scanning Exclusions (Excluded) REG_DWORD 0x2
Default Client Antimalware Policy (Excluded) REG_DWORD 0x2
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy (Realtime Config) REG_DWORD 0x2
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy (Advance Setting) REG_DWORD 0x2
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy (Spynet) REG_DWORD 0x2
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy (Signature Update) REG_DWORD 0x2
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy (Scan) REG_DWORD 0x2
End of search: 9 match(es) found.
The way I read that means that the "All Windows SCEP Clients Policy" settings are all applied. The "Windows Server Exclusions" policy is excluded for some reason.
My custom policies set scan times different than the default and i have some exclusions. When I launch the SCEP client on the local computer, i don't see the set scan times, just the default scan times. I also don't see the exclusions.
I see in that req query command that the Exclusions are (Excluded), but the scan schedule should apply. The priorities on the applied AMP (antimalware policies) are:
Default Client AntimMalware Policy 10000
All Windows SCEP Clients Policy 21
Windows Server Scanning Exclusions 5
These policies are applied to appropriate collections. When I click on the system in question in the console and look at the antimalware policies, it lists those three.
I cannot for the life of me get these policies to apply even though they have what i think are the right priorities. The way i understand it, the policies stack for most of the settings. So the default settings get set by the default policy.
Then the "All Windows SCEP Policy" settings would override or merge with any settings in the default policy. Then the "Windows Server Scanning Exclusions" policy would override or merge with any of the previous two policies.
Am I misinterpreting things here?Hi,
I don't know if you managed to resolve this. But I had similar issues and after some detective work this was being caused by Group policy preventing the processing of local group policies. Specifically, the offending setting and explanation is listed below:
Setting Path:
Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Group Policy
Setting: Turn off Local Group Policy objects processing: Enabled
Explanation
This policy setting prevents Local Group Policy objects (Local GPOs) from being applied.
By default, the policy settings in Local GPOs are applied before any domain-based GPO policy settings. These policy settings can apply to both users and the local computer. You can disable the processing and application of all Local GPOs to ensure that only
domain-based GPOs are applied.
If you enable this policy setting, the system will not process and apply any Local GPOs.
If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, Local GPOs will continue to be applied.
Note: For computers joined to a domain, it is strongly recommended that you only configure this policy setting in domain-based GPOs. This setting will be ignored on computers that are joined to a workgroup.
Make sure the setting is either set to disable or not configured.
The image below shows a RSoP on a computer where policies are applying successfully. As you can see, antimalware settings are being applied as local group policy settings -
QOS Policy gets Policy hits but doesn't seem to do anything when put to the test
I have been trying to implement a policy that prioritizes certain types of of traffic over another namyly Lync Voice Traffic, Cisco CAPWAP traffic from controllers to AP's, and Citrix ICA Traffic.
I do recieve policy hits but when I load the connection up with say copying a file the policy seems to not work. This is on a 1921 router.
I will include the config as I may be doing somthing wrong.

So what do you have, a 100 Mbps Ethernet hand-off with a 20 Mbps bandwidth cap?
If so, you want to shape for your logical bandwidth cap and then priorize, as desired, in a child policy.
BTW, you normally don't use LLQ for other than very time critical traffic, e.g. VoIP bearer, and Cisco recommends you don't allocate more than a third of your bandwidth to LLQ.
I would suggest you just shape for your 20 Mbps and try FQ for all traffic.
e.g.
policy-map Sample
class class-default
shape average 20000000
fair-queue
NB: I'm unsure whether FQ will apply to the shaped traffic, if not:
policy-map SampleParent
class class-default
shape average 20000000
service-policy SampleChild
policy-map SampleChild
class class-default
fair-queue
NB: SampleChild is where/how you would provide a custom policy for your shaped traffic.
PS:
BTW, you apply the policy with the shaper to the interface. -
I'm a corporate user with a very large company that is using Microsoft Hosted Exchange services actually hosted by Microsoft employees at their facilities. I called Palm support and they were clueless and zero help. The lady pointed me to some Palm KB article that I had already read and only remotely had anything to do with my problem. I see nothing on this error message in the forums and google searches. Sprint has even replaced my palm pre due to other reasons and the same error occurs after I configure the exchange account. I'm also seeing the error when I configure my account on my wifes brand new pixi. Both our pre and pixi already have exchange accounts successfully configured on our phones that are hosted by sherweb. The sherweb exchange accounts work without issue. I have tried configuring this microsoft hosted exchange account 5-6 times with the same result. It accepts my configuration information and adds it to the list of available email accounts in the pre. However, it keeps popping up this message stating "Security policy error: "Exchange... Tap for details" (with a yellow exclamation mark). Then it says "Security Policy Error" The account Exchange (first part of my email address) is disabled because security policies cannot be set." "Leave it disabled" or "Remove Account". I know something is working because it enforced a Password or Pin policy on to my phone which is not required unless this account has been added. I can also see it in the "Mobile Devices" section of web outlook when I login. This is the place in web outlook where you can see the last time the device synced, where you can remote wipe the phone etc. If anyone has any idea how to resolve my issue please post. Any ideas? I'm fresh out of ideas on this problem and very frustrated with Palm Developers. Just another example of poor development and testing practices by Palm. I hope they correct this issue on subsequent releases but I am only marginally optimistic that they will ever get this exchange mail support to the level necessary to support large corporations. What I do know is that my Microsoft Hosted Exchange account works fine on a Windows Mobile phone and a iPhone 3GS (confirmed by other coworks who have configured their phones using our exchange services). As a result, I have no choice but to blame Palm for this problem instead of Microsoft. Palm please fully support microsoft exchange mail users!!!!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)
This question was solved.
View Solution. From my understanding of EAS and PDA devices, if the server as a policy to enforce and the device cannot provide that policy then the server will not allow the device to connect. The KB I gave you has a listing of what policies the devices supports, if your server supports more than that then it could deny the connection. As for what the iPhone does and does not do we cannot answer that due to we are not iPhone.
I did find an article that may explain a little better for PDA and exchange: http://www.infoworld.com/d/mobilize/how-avoid-smartphone-exchange-policy-lie-004 -

W7 Group Policies not applying
We are planning on deploying Windows 7 Pro in our offices this coming year and I have been in the process of building my Windows 7 group policies from scratch by using the XP policies as a template. I have 3 policies that I create the standard lockdown, administrative mode, and IT. As I'm building the policies and the have the Group Policy editor open, whatever changes that I make do apply on my local machine, but after I save and upload the policies and apply them to machines the policy status in the Zen Notify Icon says that they have applied, but in function no policies have applied. I'm getting ready to start adding my Allow These Executables list but don't want to waste the time if the desktop look and feel and general access features aren't being applied correctly to the machines. Is there anything that I can check to see why this isn't working correctly?
I am making the policies from scratch on a Win7 Pro machine. When I use the GP Editor from ZCM to create and reopen the policies all of my policy details are applying correctly to my local machine which I am working on the policy with. When I apply them to Win7 systems the policy status under the ZCM desktop icon shows that they were applied successfully, but when trying do do anything prohibited by policy or checking the gpedit.msc everything says Not Configured. This is only happening to "Windows Group Policy" objects, DLU and Remote Control are working correctly.
