Possible bug in NetBeans JavaFX project type

Found the following issue when trying to run a JavaFX app as a jar:
1) Create a JavaFX app project.
2) Create a Java class library project, with at least one class.
3) Add the Java class library to your JavaFX app libraries
4) In your JavaFX app, invoke a class from class library.
Now build the app, and try to run it directly using "java -jar". You will get a ClassNotFound exception when it tries to invoke the class from the included library. The library jar file will be copied to the dist/lib directory, but if you open up the manifest in the application's jar file, you'll see that no Class-Path parameter is created for it.
This isn't an issue for web start, because the path to the library jar file is included in the application's jnlp file, but if you're planning to build a regular application that will be launched locally, this would appear to constitute a bug, unless I'm missing something.

  • Is it possible to have java and javafx project types combined ?.

    Today, in NetBeans (not sure about the eclipse world) one has to decide between a "Java" project or a "JavaFX" project.
    Why can't these two be combined ?.
    For e.g, when I try to add JavaFX files (script, classes) to a Java Project it fails to compile. I poked around Netbeans and googled a bit and could'nt find any answers.
    The only way that I can make it work is to create a JavaFX project and Java code to it.
    In situations where one is attempting to "add" JavaFX to an existing Java/Swing app the current approach is too weird and abnormal.
    For e.g Amy Fowler's excellent guide http://weblogs.java.net/blog/2009/06/10/insiders-guide-mixing-swing-and-javafx should be such that I should be able to "simply" add JavaFX code and NetBeans should take care of the plumbing. (calling javafx compiler, adding the right jars for runtime ...)
    /rk

    I'm not sure how JavaFX works, but it is built rather differently from "normal" Java (Single threaded, high level of abstraction from the actual implementation, etc). It is easy to use Java classes inside a JavaFX class, but the reverse is not true.
    Plus, though this part is technically fixable, some classes installed inside the JRE don't seem to work by default in a netbeans JavaFX project.

  • Create web service client for javafx project in netbeans 6.8

    I here have a javafx project and need to create a web service client for it (in netbeans 6.8).
    However when I right click this project -> new -> web service client -> input wsdl location\package -> finish, it seems that the client code is never generated. This is quite different from what happens when creating web service client for a java project.
    Anyone knows how is this happening?

    Thanks for your reply.
    I did write my own ws client code but I need to create a web proxy based on an appointed wsdl path. That requires me to create a web service client from netbeans 6.8, like what I described in my first post. Unfortunately, it's not behaving like what I imagined it should do for a java project, even the javafx file itself doesn't have any error. The error occurs in package definition line.
    package fx;For the definition above, it cannot access java.lang.builtins.
    The question now is about the possibility to include javafx file in an non-javafx, say, java project. Any comments?
    ---Regards.

  • JavaFX project as library under Netbeans

    Hi,
    I have a big JavaFX project and I would like to improve modularity.
    In this case, I would like to set a JavaFX module project under Netbeans as library but I don't know how...
    Isn't there a checkbox "Library" as in the Eclipse project settings to create a module project library for Android :)
    Thanks

    If I need to modularize, I do it in maven with a parent pom and import the parent pom into idea, which generates all of the idea modules corresponding to the maven modules.
    Take a look at how open-jfx (http://openjdk.java.net/projects/openjfx/) is organized for an example of splitting up a large project into multiple parts.
    Or download the javafx samples and look at the modularization of the Henley Sales data app into a main client app, preloader and server components.

  • Possible Bug with Drag-and-Drop Being Published via HTML5 - Getting "Undefined" Error When Dragging Object

    Hello,
    I came up with a way to use drag-and-drop interactions that will take advantage of file input so that I may create a drag-and-drop interaction that uses one draggable object over and over allowing multiple scoring/tracking possibilities.  Example use...is having the draggable object be dynamic in that it randomly changes its text so that a learner can drag a term it's possible classification.........thus allowing the possibility of having many terms easily loaded without having to redo a drag-and-drop interaction for each needed terms/classifications updates/changes.
    My Issue: When using a variable to represent the text for a draggable Smart Shape object, I'm getting the error message "undefined" when, clicking/pressing on the object, as well as during the drag of the object. This issue occurs when publishing the project in an HTML5 format.  Flash interestingly enough seems to work perfect...but we are not interested in publishing via Flash any longer.
    To better help you explore this error message, I've set up a test project so that you can see when and how the "undefined" message shows up during a drag-and-drop interaction.  I've also included the Captivate 8 project file used to make the exploration project I'm sharing in this post.
    Link to Captivate project I created for you all to explore "undefined" error message": http://iti.cscc.edu/drag_and_drop_bug/
    Link to this Captivate 8 Project file: http://iti.cscc.edu/drag_and_drop_bug.cptx
    It's pretty interesting how things react in this demo, please try the following actions to see some interesting happenings:
    Drag the Yellow (or variable drag box) to the drag target.
    Drag Black Hello square to Drag target and click undo or reset - watch the undefined message come up on the Yellow (or variable drag box).
    Drag the Yellow (or variable drag box) to the drag target and then use the undo or reset.
    Move both draggable boxes to the drag target and use the undo and reset buttons...
    Anyhow, I know you all are sharp and will run the demo through its paces.
    I'd really be very honored if anyone help me figure out how I could (when publishing out to HTML5) no longer have the "undefined" error message show up when using drag-and-drop with a variable for shape text. This technique has been well received at the college I work at...and I have many future project requests for using such an idea on a variety of similar interactions. I'd love see a solution or see if this might be a bug Adobe may be able to fix!
    I tried to find a solution to the issue documented here for quite some time, but I was not able to find anyone with this problem much less attempting the idea I'm sharing in the help request -  save the darn "undefined" message that comes up!
    Many thanks in advance for any help and/or direction that you all may be able to provide,
    Paul

    Hello,
    I just wanted to supply a minor update related to my drag-and-drop question/issue stated above:
    I did another test using Captivate 7, and found that the undefined error (publishing as HTML5) does not appear and the variable data remains visible - except the variable data turns very small and does not honor any font size related settings.
    I did go ahead and submit this to Adobe as a possible bug today.
    Thanks again for any help related to this issue.  If the issued documented above is solved, it will allow many amazing things to be done using Captivate's drag-and-drop for both regular type projects as well as interaction development for iBooks!
    Matter of fact if this issue gets fixed, I'll publish a Blog entry (or video) on way's I've used Captivate's drag-and-drop to create dynamic learning activities for Higher Ed. and for use in iBooks.

  • Possible bug, at least serious problem, in the AS3.0 event architecture

    Event bubbling causes a compiler error when it should not.
    High up in the display list, a
    listener has been added for TypeBEvent which extends
    TypeAEvent.
    Lower in the display list, a
    different object dispatches a TypeAEvent, and sets bubbling to true
    (and possibly, cancellable to false).
    A Type Coercion error (#1034)
    results! The listener receives the bubbled event which is of the
    same type as the base class of the handler event type. The event
    object "cannot be converted" to the TypeBEvent it is
    receiving.
    Circumstances
    This situation came up in a real Flex project, where a video
    player that had been loaded as a module within another module
    dispatched a PROGRESS ProgressEvent, and a listener had been added
    to the higher level module for its ModuleEvent PROGRESS event,
    ModuleEvent subclasses ProgressEvent. The video player bubbled its
    event, and the compiler threw this error: "TypeError: Error #1034:
    Type Coercion failed: cannot convert
    flash.events::ProgressEvent@1f2de0d1 to mx.events.ModuleEvent."
    This compiler error does not make sense from a developer
    perspective, because it means any class lower on the display list
    can break the player (not the program, the player) simply by
    dispatching an event.
    Our team lost a great deal of (expensive) time trying to
    locate the source of this problem, since nothing about the compiler
    error – including the stack trace! – indicated the
    high-level class. In fact, the module developer didn't know
    anything about the high-level class which was compiled to a swc
    library, and the event being dispatched was in the flex class
    library, so neither end of the problem was very visible. Because
    the error only pointed to the video player class the developer
    naturally went into the flex classes first and tried to solve the
    problem in their scope before finally giving up and bringing the
    problem to others on the team.
    Truly a case where the software defeated team workflow.
    Our conclusion
    We love the new event framework but, this seems to come
    pretty close to qualifying as a bug. The high-level event listener
    simply should NOT have received, then choked the player on the
    bubbled base-class event. It should either receive it or not. If it
    did receive the event, the code in the handler could check whether
    the event target was appropriate... but instead the player breaks
    and does not provide any clue as to where, it only indicates the
    dispatching class as a culprit. Even short of fixing the problem,
    improving the error message so that the receiving event handler is
    clearly implicated would be a start.
    Again I am of the opinion that this compiler error should not
    take place at all because the top class subscribed specifically to
    the subclassed event type. A bubbled event that breaks the player
    due to an unrelated listener is just a huge black hole, especially
    when multiple developers are working on different tiers of a
    program.
    Could we get a reply from someone at Adobe on this issue?
    Thanks very much,
    Moses Gunesch

    If you create a metadatatype with a single metdata block, and you reference that in your vm/cm cell attribute using a *one* based index, Excel seems to see the link and it honors it when saving the spreadsheet.
    So, I ended up with something like:
    <c ... cm="1"/> (I'm dealing with cell metadata, but the concept is equivalente to value metadata)
    <metadataTypes count="1">
      <metadataType name="MyMetaType" .../>
    </metadataTypes>
    <futureMetadata count="1" name="MyMetaType">

    <cellMetadata count="1">

  • Difference in Project Types and Solution Directory

    Hi -
    We are in the process of deploying solution manager within our organiation.  We have a made good progress in designing the end to end processes for an implementation project.  I am now looking for guidance on after the project is in production how to make changes - bugs and enhancements.  Should this be done directly in the solution directory or a specific project type?  We are not using CHaRM.  If it is a project type, when should changes be made directly within the solution directory?
    Also, what are the difference in the project types - implementation, upgrade, maintenance, safeguarding, template, and upgrade.  When should each be used?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Janice,
    you have two options to do changes in operations:
    Directly in Solution Directory. However, there are some limitation since not all tabs can be changed (e. g. configuration tab is only available in display mode).
    Via a maintenance project. This functionality is available since Solution Manager 4.0 FP 1. You have to assign a maintenance project to your solution and activate the check-out/check-in functionality (in the "solution settings"). It will the be possible to check-out objects into the maintenance project and perform your changes in the maintenance project. These changes will become visible in Solution Directory as soon as you check-in the objects. This functionality is currently independent of CHaRM.
    An overview of the project types is available in the Solution Manager Application help. Follow the path "Projects--> Project Administration -->  Project types".
    Best regards,
    Michael

  • Can I include java files into my javafx project?

    If I do so, exception always occurs until I delete the created java files.

  • Possible Bug In Apex 4.0.2

    Hi Everyone.
    I would like to report what I think is a bug in Apex 4.0.2.
    If you go to my workspace on apex.oracle.com:
    Workspace = EEG
    Username = [email protected]
    Password = galaxy (all lowercase)
    Run the application: 37796 - Elie_Various_Goodies [no credentials are required]
    This app was imported from my 4.0.1 workspace at my job. On the page I created two Date Picker items, P1_BEGIN_DATE and P1_END_DATE. I set them up so that whenever a user selects a begin date, a dynamic action "MANAGE_DATES" fires and automatically sets P1_END_DATE to this selected begin date value. Now when a user goes to select an end date, the displayed calendar starts at the previously selected begin date rather than the default of "Today".
    All of this worked fine on my office (4.0.1) workspace. However, after exporting this app and then importing onto apex.oracle.com, none of this functionality would work. Even worse, whenever I try to select a begin date or even an end date, the selected dates never make it into the date picker fields. Displaying the "Session" window shows these fields as empty.
    It was only after I copied the two date picker fields and also re-created my dynamic action (P1_BEGIN_DATE2, P1_END_DATE2, MANAGE_DATES) did my functionality return.
    This behavior is quite strange. I can only think this is some sort of bug attributed to the export/import process when exporting a 4.0.1 app into a 4.0.2 workspace. I am not sure if this bizarre behavior happens with non-date picker items. Nor am I sure if this beavior would be repeated if I export/import from 4.0.2 into the another 4.0.2 environment.
    Another strange thing I noticed. If I change my date picker items to be "date picker (classic)" type items, the dynamic action does not work at all. This is true in both 4.0.2 and 4.0.1. I'm not sure if this a bug or not. It could be that the classic date picker is just not "javascript" enabled so to speak. If that is true, then it would have been nice if the docs would have warned us about this.
    Has anyone else seen this behavior?
    Thank you.
    Elie

    Hi Joel.
    First let me thank you for the warning about allowing "everyone" access to my workspace.
    You're correct, of course. Anyone could destroy anything within my workspace. I guess I was too trusting especially as I have seen many posts on the Forum where others have given access to their workspace so that responders can offer help. I really should be more discreet about this. Again, thank you. Needless to say, I have changed my password.
    With respect to the possible bug, the MANAGE_DATES dynamic action is intended to be a submit page because that is the only way I can see to get BOTH the P1_END_DATE date picker item as well as the end date textual field to be assigned the selected P1_BEGIN_DATE. I tried to use a dynamic action in which javascript sets the value of the end date textual field to the selected P1_BEGIN_DATE value. This works without the need to submit the page. Unfortunately, this does not cause the P1_END_DATE date picker item to default to this value. Instead, the default remains at today's date. This is why I finally resorted to a dynamic action that submits the page whenever a new value is selected (that is, a "change" event) from the P1_BEGIN_DATE date picker item.
    All of this works in my office 4.0.1 environment. However, I was puzzled when this fails under 4.0.2 on the hosted web site at apex.oracle.com. This is why I posted a "possible" bug in 4.0.2.
    I hope this all makes sense.
    One more thing, as already mentioned in my original post, this "defaulting a date picker" functionality does NOT work at all for the "classic" date picker items in both 4.0.1 nor in 4.0.2. I realize one can implement this functionality (I' guessing) my using, say, a "onChange" javascript call to submit the page. It's just funny that the "classic" date picker items are not acted upon by the dynamic action MANAGE_DATES that submits the page.
    Thank you.
    Elie

  • Project Type Update more than 1 project at a time

    Hi All,
     Is there a possibility to change project type of more than 1 or should I say in bulk update project types for existing Projects in Project Center??
    Regards, Syed Faizan ur Rehman, CBPM®,PRINCE2®, MCTS

    Hi Syed,
    Yes it is. Go to the server settings, then change or restart workflow. From this page, you will be able to choose a source EPT and projects then a destination EPT. Note that you can use this feature evenif you don't use workflows.

  • Possible bug: Saving array with extended and double precision to spreadsheet

    If one concatenates a double precision array and an extended precision array with the "build array" vi and then saves using "Write to Spreadsheet File" vi any digits to the right of the decimal place are set to zero in the saved file. This happens regardless of the format signifier input (e.g. %.10f) to the  "Write to Spreadsheet File" vi.
    I am on Vista Ultimate 32 bit and labview 9.0
    This is a possible bug that is easily circumvented by converting to one type before combining arrar to a spreadsheet. Nonetheless, it is a bug and it cost me some time.

    Attachments:
    Spreadsheet save bug.vi ‏9 KB

    Hi JL,
    no, it's not a bug - it's a feature
    Well, if you would look more closely you would recognize the "Save to Spreadsheet" as polymorphic VI. As this polymorphic VI doesn't support EXT numbers internally (it only supports DBL, I64 and String) LabVIEW chooses the instance with most accuracy: I64 (I64 has 64 bits precision, DBL only 53...). So your options are:
    - set the instance to use as DBL (by right-click and "Select type...")
    - make a copy of this VI, save it with a different name and make it support EXT numbers (don't rework the polymorphic VI as you would break compatibility with other LV installations or future revisions)
    And yes, those coercion dots always signal some conversions - you should atleast check what's going on there...

  • Can you use html text in flash cc html5 project type?

    I'm attempting to dynamically change font color of various words inside a dynamic text field.
    I have tried both these lines of code below. have you dont this can you correct my code please?
    I'm using flash cc and html5 project type. This was possible in previous versions of flash.
    this.Logger.Log_File.htmlText = "<font color='#000000' size='-1'>"+MyGreatNumber+" "+"</font><BR>"+this.Logger.Log_File.htmlText;
    this.Logger.Log_File.htmlText = "<p style="color:#ff0000">"+MyGreatNumber+"</p><br>"+this.Logger.Log_File.htmlText;

    from the easeljs docs: Please note that Text does not support HTML text, and can only display one font style at a time. To use multiple font styles, you will need to create multiple text instances, and position them manually.
    to resolve, edit text in the js file where it's relatively easy to even use rtl text.

  • ERM5.3 - Is it possible to make Sub Process & Project/Release non-mandatory

    Hi All.
    I would like to know whether it is possible to make Sub Process & Project/Release in Create Role Definition section non-mandatory fields?
    If so where would I be able to change the config?
    Thank you.
    Mike Hannie

    Dear Mike Hannie,
    It is not possible. Project/Release ID and Subprocess are required fields.
    The Project or Release ID field allows you to track and filter roles by project or release based on your organizationu2018s requirements.
    When you create a role in Enterprise Role Management, the business process you assign to the role is one of the roleu2018s defining attributes and determines which subprocesses you can assign to that role. During the role creation process, the subprocesses available for you to select as role attributes are determined by the business process to which the subprocess is mapped.
    Condition group:
    A condition group is defined from a set of role attributes (such as a business process, subprocess, functional area, role type, or role name) and is based on role values and conditions. After you create a condition group, the system applies it to a role creation process to override the default role creation process when the criteria from the condition group are met. You can apply multiple condition groups in one role creation process, but you cannot associate multiple processes to one condition group.

  • Netbeans+Javafx+JBoss-7 : Any netbeans plugin for JBoss-7 support?

    Hello world,
    I am trying to switch from eclipse to netbeans for my current javaee+javafx project, but netbeans doesn't currently support JBoss-7. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    BTW The decision to exclude JBoss-7 from netbeans -- perhaps hoping that developers would rush to adopt glassfish-- is a silly one. And yet, Oracle JDeveloper seems to works well with JBoss-7.
    No serious development department in any organization that is already tied to a AS (say) JBoss is going to suddenly change it to glassfish just to be able to use netbeans. This decision will only backfire on Oracle, as its effect would be to stop developers already using JBoss from trying or even adopting netbeans.

    I am already using JBoss and eclipse. I was only trying netbeans to use the javafx facilities, but the JBoss version provided in the project creation task does not include JBoss-7. Beside, if you work for an organisation, you don't have the flexibility to change tools --The decision is not entirely yours.

  • On-demand process in page processing - possible bug?

    Hi
    Came across a possible bug today, certainly not a big one and unlike to affect many people but...
    1. Create an on-demand application process
    2. Create an on-demand page process that calls the application process
    3. Delete the application process.
    Now at this point, the page process is still available for editing/deleting etc.
    4. Copy the application.
    In the new version of the application, the page process shows as plain text in the application builder with no link to edit or delete it and when the page is run, it predictably fails at the processing point of the page process when it tries to find the application process (the id from wwv_flow_processing is shown in the error for the old application process).
    The only way to get rid of the page process is to select 'Edit All' and then select and delete it - then everything is hunky dory again.
    A minor issue I know, but maybe someone will have the same issue one day and stumble across this thread :)
    Cheers
    Ben

    At the moment I cannot say if your link can help. Right now the call of the On demand Process looks like this:
    Inside annonymous PL/SQL Region:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    get = new htmldb_Get(null,'||:APP_ID||'.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=F_REPORT_NAME',0);
    gReturn = get.get();
    document.write(gReturn);
    </script>
