Possible Sound Problem Fix

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but here goes:
I had a system that I had built for a client using a K7N2G motherboard.
The system exhibited a pulsing sound from the speakers when using DirectX based games (played normal windows sounds throught the Wave Mapper fine).
I found that by going into 'Control Panel', double clicking on 'Sounds and Multimedia', selecting the 'Audio' tab, clicking the 'Advanced' button under the 'Sound Playback' section, going to the 'Performance' tab in the new window, and then changing the sample rate conversion from 'Good' to 'Best' completely eradicated the problem.
Hope this helps someone!
Craig

Are you using the default tone or a custom tone? Is the tone saved to phone memory? The tone used should be in phone memory.
On a side note, have you checked if there is available firmware updates for your phone? You can check this using Ovi Suite on your PC or Nokia Software Updater on your PC.

    Hi,
Have had the PC for about a month. Really like it! Good price $399 at Best Buy!
Started having Audio problems. Sound would stop emit a loud static sound then start working OK.
Tried many of the suggestions on this forum but none helped.
I started noticing that if music was playing and the PC started taxing the CPU (Running other applications), the problem would come back.
I had recently installed the CA Internet Suite that Roadrunner offers. I remembered that this application seemed to be a resource hog on our desktop. I uninstalled it, loaded Avast and the problem has not come back. I ended up with the Micro$oft driver installed after troubleshooting. Unless I have any further issues, I will leave it as is.
    Hope this helps others!

ps hp if you keep ignoring the users and not fixing the driver then people wont buy from you oh  and its been sence july get your thing right...

  • IPod Touch 3rd gen sound problem - fixed? - iOS 5.1

    Hello -
Since updating my iPod Touch 3rd generation to iOS 5.1, the sound quality has decreased dramatically. The problem was only in my headphone jack, regardless of headphone or earbud type. The symptom was hard to describe: some songs had decreased bass, other songs sounded fine but with very quiet vocals.
I'm an engineer and these seemed like "digital" problems to me, so if it wasn't for a friend suggesting I test the problem with different headphones-vs-jack-vs-internal speaker, the thought never would have occurred to me:
There was a tiny bit of lint in the headphone jack. I unfolded a paper clip, carefully picked out and blew away the lint.
So far, the solution appears to be working.
I still don't understand how those symptoms would be caused by a connectivity problem in the jack. Perhaps the jack's extra terminal (used for things like volume control and song-change) was being shorted, just slightly, wreaking havoc elsewhere in the iPod.
(This was after trying all sorts of stuff, including a complete system "wipe" and restore.)

Yes. Other uses have experienced the same cause and corrective acition. That being foreign material n the headphone jack.

I have to admit I'm a bit annoyed that Pulse Audio has to be installed to use Gnome 3...   That was the main thing that drove me away from ubuntu.   I've ran my Arch machines for over a year with no pulse, and I really don't see the use for it.   This is the one thing that is making me consider not using Gnome 3.

  • Alsa sound problem(FIXED)

I have been using gentoo for a while with sound working perfectly, i just installed archlinux today and i moved my kernel source over to my archlinux drive and compiled it with the same config everything seems to work fine. i installed alsa-utils and alsa-oss, ran alsaconf, unmuted the chanels in alsamixer, added myself(root for now) to the audio group, made alsa start at boot, and checked that all modules for my soundcard are loaded, but i still cant hear any sound it works fine in gentoo im really puzzled with this. any help would be greatly appriciated.

Don't use alsaconf - remove the lines that alsaconf added in /etc/modprobe.conf...
Udev should be able to setup the soundcard(s) by itself.

  • Sound Problems on iPad: how to fix, easy [video]

    Hi dear iPad user,
Most people will, eventually, have sound problems: the cause can be complex as a 'miss-behaved' app that messes the sound engine or as simple as the iPad being forgotten on Mute/Volume Down.
I used to help family and friends to fix their iPads' sound problems by sending them 'text' instruction steps... lots of times they ended up calling me on the phone...
    So I made a video (short: 1m40s):
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjBP-Ncj_fE
    It shows:
how to unmute the sound (even if the side-switch locks the rotation of the screen)
    how to put volume up
how to close all the apps (in the case there is an App messing with the sound system)
how to reboot the iPad (ultimatelly fixes hard cases of messed sound system)
What it won't fix: if you have a hardware problem...
If you do all the steps and you get NO SOUND AT ALL, please, try also checking if you car listen sounds using a HEADPHONE (you know are working conditions). If you can listen to sounds in the headphone but no sound at all in the iPad's built in speaker, well, there might be a hardware problem and you should look for help on an Apple Retail Store or other official technical support available at your location.
    Hope this helps!
    Everson.

UPDATE: fixing iPad Sound after iOS 7
    http://youtu.be/SDf1LDcE95Q
    (1min 36sec)
    It covers the basics:
    checking side-switch / mute / "Control Center"
    volume all up
    ...and also the worst cases:
closing all apps (for rare cases when a single app might render the sound system instable)
    rebooting the iPad
So, don't get desparete: try the things in the video.
There are people who reported having forgotten an audio-bluetooth connection activated with a turned-off sound-system or speakers... or forgot Air-Play turned on... so be sure you disengage bluetooth and/or airplay.
On the 'hardware side', dirty dock connector (30 pin) can make the iPad 'think' it is connected to external audio - if so, cleaning it with a dry toothbrush can fix. Also, moisture in the headphones connector can make the iPad switch to 'headphones' even without headphones connected, making it silent: check if you can hear things with headphones plugged in - if so, try gently inserting and removing headphones a few times and check if you get sound back to iPad's speakers alone.
Good luck to everybody! Audio problems are quite common - fontunately they are easy to fix.

  • Is there a fix yet for the no sound problem with lion on the iMac without having to restart every time I switch the computer on?

Is there a fix yet for the no sound problem with lion on the iMac without having to restart every time I switch the computer on?

Try booting in Safe Mode by holding the the shift key immediately after powering on your system. Safe boot mode will for a directory check of your startup volume, then load only the required kernal extensions (kext files), and deletes some cache files. Once the system boots into Safe Mode you can simply restart the system to see whether the issue has been resolved.
If you still have the issue try resetting the SMC by shutting down the system and disconnecting the power cord for ~15 seconds, then reconnecting the power cord. Next, reset the parameter RAM (PRAM) by holding down the option-option-P-R keys after powering ON the system. Wait until the iMac restarts twice, then let the system boot normally.

  • HOW DO I FIX SOUND PROBLEMS ON MY IPOD  TOUCH?

How do i fix sound problems on my ipod touch?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • A possible solution for the version 7 sound problem..

Please forgive me if this has incorrect terms & names. I'm not really clued up with computers.
If you use Mozilla & use the music bar at the bottom of your browser, while using iTunes, when the music starts to mess up, press the stop button on the bottom of your firefox browser, then press play again.
This hasd solved my bad sound problem for the past hour & a half. I had no problems since I did that.
    Hope this works for others.

  • Sound Problem Plus Memory Problem

I've also posted this same issue at the EVGA website with no help what so ever yet. Also if it's ok I'm having the above mentioned memory problem that it probable not related but if anyone does have good input I would love to hear. Hope this doesn't break any rules, didn't see anything in the listed rules thread. So here it goes.
Ok I'm having a few minor but very perplexing and annoying problems. I have recently built a new rig to include the following.
Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition
    EVGA P55 FTW Intel P55 Socket LGA56
    Intel Core i5-750 2.66Ghz 8M LGA56 CPU
    Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR3 PC2800 (2 x 2 GB sticks)
    Ultra LSP750 750w Power Supply
Seagate TB Serial ATA HD 7200/32MB
Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower Black Case
Galaxy GeForce GTS 250 52MB PCIe x2 (SLI Setup)
BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT GB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card (Physx Setup)
    PROBLEM ONE:
This one I had a lot less that I was able to actually try because it just confused the crap out of me. So I started by going to test my sound. I'm running an optical cable from the on board sound port to back of my sony surround sound system. I get sound from my left and right channel but nothing from the center, rears or sub. So figure no biggie just need to change the configuration from 2 speaker stereo to 5. surround sound. Guess what... the option isn't there? WTF? A sound card with an optical port with no 5. support? So went online found the drivers for the sound on the mother board and tried reinstalling thinking maybe somthing was wrong with the drivers on the CD. Well it still didn't work. So I figured what ever, I got an external sound card that I know works with Windows 7 since it was on other desktop and hooked it up. Its a Creative - Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5. External USB Sound Card. Well it installs fine and I go to test it. Yep you guessed it! Still only sound from the left channel and the right channel with no option for surround sound. So I was able to find updated drivers for that and ran em. Well now I have an option for Surround sound with side speakers only no rear. Oh but it doesn't really matter because the left and right channel are still the only ones able to produce sound. And yes the speakers work I turned on my X-Box 360 hooked up to the same speakers and LCD tv and played COD4 with full sound working fine. So something else has to be happening I just have no idea.
    PROBLEM TWO:
The second problem was with the memory. Everything booted fine but it initial only detected 2 GB. By the way I had them installed in slots and 3. So I shut down and popped em out checked the copper connectors everything looked fine and reseated the chi
    ps.
This time during the boot up I checked the BIOS. It saw all 4 GBs of memory. Continued into Windows. Windows now saw all 4 but only .99 GB was available. Now the only other time I've seen anything like this was with on board video sharing the memory, and even then it wasn't half of the systems total memory. I then tried shutting down and putting the chips in 2 and 4 just see what would happen. Well I got an EA post error on the LED, couldn't even boot. So I figured o'well power down completely and tried to run the memory in 2 and 3 to run it out of dual channel. I was able to boot but still had the same issue. .99 GB available and still saw all 4. At this point it was just getting silly so I figured ok I'll download the new BIOS with my laptop, burned it to a CD. Booted the desktop and ran the BIOS flash. Update seemed work fine, honestly the BIOS didn't look much different and I didn't take note of the previous version before I did it so I can only assume it worked. However it did not fix my problem. So I'm still stuck at windows seeing 4 GB of memory with only .99 available.
Anyway... I'll keep trying to get this working and hunting around online, but I'm really hoping you all have some ideas. I'll be trying to call EVGA today for some help too and possibly Corsair. Thanks in advance for the help!

    Hello,
cannot help with the sound problem.
For memory, I've got almost the same thing but with 4 sticks of 2gb and only 2 detected on an ASUS P7P55D deluxe.
Bios was my issue but I needed to do this (but with pairs of sticks instead of sticks) after the bios update to finally get my 8gb under windows:
Make a clear cmos. Then boot the computer with only one stick of ram in the port .
If everything is fine, turn off and add the other port of the same color for dual channel.
If it does not boot with the 2 sticks in the port of the good color, try to switch ports again. Maybe one stick is dead?

  • S6 Notification Sound problems (anyone else having them?), and other ?s

First off, I love my new S6 and remain very happy as I get to know the ins and outs.  However, I have come up with a few problems and I'm hoping others may know the answers (I cannot find anything online).
    1. The biggest problem is that the different notifications for my contacts are not working.  The sounds are on the phone and are selected from the list of possible sounds.  However, whenever anyone with a contact-specific ringtone or message notification contacts me, all I get is the default ring/sound.  Any thoughts on how to fix this?
    2. This phone uses the same green LED for everything.  Is there a way to change this?  My old galaxy (S3) used a blue LED for phone calls/messages/texts, a green LED for Facebook notifications/messages, etc.
    3. Is there a setting to scroll through app screens (or the front screens) in a loop?  It's a petty complaint for certain, but I do miss the convenience of getting from Amazon to Zedge with one page turn vs having to flip through the entire alphabet.
    4. On Day 2 my lock screen decided to stay unlocked (meaning-it only required the default swipe).  All of the settings indicated it was set for "pattern" but it didn't ever need the pattern.  Restarting the phone put the pattern back in place, but only for a couple of times, then it went back to the default swipe.  I tried this twice.  I turned off the phone and left it off for 20 minutes, and haven't had a problem since, but I am adding it to this list of questions because a coworker is still experiencing this problem (powering off did not fix his problem).

I, too, am having difficult is with my Galaxy S6 contact specific message tone as well as vibration pattern. I have multiple LED colors for different items. I use the fingerprint for security and no issues there. Sure hope Verizon comes out with an answer soon. Don't like the Samsung message app, but may be forced to use it, so I can signify different vibrations/tones.

  • Any resolution to the sound problem?

I have been having the same sound problem with my Mid 2010 Mac Pro tower ever since I got it.  I have been in touch with Apple and have been told that they are familiar with the problem, but that they are still working on a fix.  The problem is that I have external speakers, and every time I shut down and then start up again, I have to go to preferences and physically change the sound output to go to the speakers.  I have also been tole that the Mac is supposed to sense the external speakers and go directly to them.
Is there anybody else out there with this problem, and has been able to resolve it?
    Thank you.

I have a 2010 Mac Pro and use the stereo line out jack in the back of my machine for my speakers with no problem.  I don't recall any problems setting it up.  But check the Audio MIDI Setup (in your utilities folder) to see if you can set it from there (should be able to).  Not sure why the preference wouldn't stick.  And I don't believe there is automatic detection of an attached sound output device where the sound preference switches to that (unless maybe the front jack which I never use).

    Hi Nick,
Sorry for the long delay I only just noticed your post. Easily done if you post in the middle of another thread.
To diagnose your sound problem the best approach is to systematically check (and isolate) each possible problem area until the culprit is found. For sound problems follow the sequence :-
    1. Check Hardware. If you have a manual control check that it is turned fully on (this may be a wheel or knob somewhere on your notebook). There is no point carrying on if this is turned down/off.
    2. Check Software. This is where the fun begins.
2.1 Check the sound properties (available from Control Panel) and make sure that the MUTE box is not ticked.
2.2 Check the individual volume levels shown on the sound properties box. Set them all to maximum.
2.3 Select Device Manager (from Control Panel) and check the entry for Sound/audio devices. Select your sound device and click the 'troubleshooting' option. Follow the on-screen checks.
2.4 If you still have no sound deinstall the sound device (from ADD/REMOVE hardware) and reboot. The system should detect the sound device and re-install it)
2.5 Finally download and reinstall the correct device drivers for your sound devive from the Toshiba web-site.
2.6 If you still have no sound after all of the above then I would recommend a complete re-install of your system from the Toshiba Recovery CDs. and if that does not correct the problem then you will need to take it to a Service Agent for them to sort it out.
    HTH
