I need to know the following informations about Switch model SG 100-24
- power consumption (watt)
- thermal dissipation (BTU/hour)
Please may somebody help me out on this ?

    It's mainly useful for retracing power consumption during certain situations (e.g. measuring the influence of certain hardware or software (kernel comes to mind), or simply reliably gather typical power consumption for certain activity profiles like surfing, working, watching movies etc.)
    I guess I'll add to the script when and if time and my bash skills allow it. Suggestions for improvement are always welcome.

    If you forgot your screen-lock passcode then:
    Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

    Greetings!
    One: I am trying to find out what the power consumption is for the iPod Hi-Fi in watts.
    Two: Is the Hi-Fi drawing power if the Hi-Fi is plugged into the wall but the iPod is not in the dock?
    These questions are not covered in the literature nor on the website. When I called the Helpline, six different customer service and technical support staffers didn't know either answer. The Apple Store employees in San Diego also didn't know.
    A suggestions for the next generation of Hi-Fi: Make it so the unit does not draw power unless an iPod is in the dock or an auxiliary input plug is not connected.
    This would allow my Hi-Fi to be placed in a bookcase in a semi-permanent installation not requiring the need to be unplugged everytime the iPod was not in use.

    One: I am trying to find out what the power
    consumption is for the iPod Hi-Fi in watts.
    Are you interested in the sound output, as specified by many loudspeaker makers? Or did you only want to know the drain from the mains supply, for cost or environmental reasons?
    If the latter, finding someone with a watt meter would be the easiest way. Apple do not specify the power consumption. I would guess they didn't want to get into a competition about whose loudspeaker has the most music power (since everyone lies).
    If I had to guess, I would think around 25 watts peak when running on batteries, around 80 watts peak when running on AC. That is a very rough guess based on how long batteries last (5 hours), the sound output difference between battery (102dB) and AC (108dB), and the likely efficiency of their amplifier (80%).
    Testing with a watt meter would be a much better way to come up with a figure. I gather they are cheap and readily available in the USA (scarce and expensive here).

    Yes. Any device with a soft power switch draws power when not physically unplugged. However I would imagine in that state consumption would be less than one watt. Apple would almost certainly have used the same methods they use to reduce power on sleeping computers (when there is no input signal for a while).

    Hi,
    When an application is not in use, it can consume processing power and thereby reduce the battery consumption. As far as I know, when you press the restrict button, you will force a shutdown of the application (to make sure it's not an active app in the background e.g). It's the same thing as you can do if you go to Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Tap an app > Force stop.

  • New power supply and graphic card for Compaq CQ3232L

    Hi all,
    I am using Compaq CQ3232L and would like to upgrade the graphic card with one of the HD 5770, Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor-X 1Gb 128Bit DDR5 to be exact.
    My current power supply (Bestec Model ATX01...) specs are:
    +12V/11A, peak 13A
    +5V/10A, +3.3V/10A,
    -12V/0.3A, 180W according the manual.
    I've been looking a replacement for the power supply but not sure which one will fit the case? And how much power will be need to run the Sapphire card and future upgrade (Blu-Ray drive and another HDD)?

    WSH, besides measuring the PSU, you should assure that there is sufficient space for the video card.  Open the case.  Measure from the edge of the case to the opposite side of the motherboard where the PCIE slot is located.  This is the approximate length of the card that will fit.
    Also, I like OCZ and Corsair PSU's.  They are both enthusiast/gamer manufacturers.  Their products will provide clean, stable power for your system.

  • Searching Dock with for Power supply and Audio Out for iPhone 3GS

    I am rather new to Apple stuff but I now have an iPhone 3GS which I would like to use with my Yamaha Pianocraft.
    The Yamaha has an optional iPod Dock. As far as I know, this would allow me to do things like pause, next track etc. via the Yamaha remote. However, I don't really need this and I would also like to be able to play audio from apps such as internet radio apps (e.g. 977)
    So the Yamaha also has an AUX/Audio In connector on the back where I can simply connect my iPhone 3GS. Then I will just hear everything not through the iPhone speakers but through the Yamaha A/V Receiver.
    However, this option would require me to have a cable connect at the top (headphone jacket) and at the bottom (connector for power supply), which does not look that good.
    So I would like to have an iPhone 3GS dock that provides audio out as well as power supply. I have found three products for this (German Sites because I live in Germany):

    Well on the backsite this product has audio out but not power, only the iphone connector.
    If I want to use this station in one place only and not for syncing, I will have to buy another iPhone USB cable and another wall to USB adapter (altough I have come at home from other products).
    Is there no dock that will not require some special iPhone cable?

    I'm trying to figure out what kind of UPS I need for my soon to arrive (2009) 2.93 8 core Mac Pro. Apple's support page seems to suggest that (for the 2.26 8 core, at least) it maxes out at 309 W? Or I guess that's not counting HDDs, but... why do I always hear numbers like 800 or 900 W when it comes do this issue? To be honest, even if I spent 500$+ on a UPS I'm still not sure that it would be okay for me to run 2 displays, monitors (speakers), a sub, etc... on the same UPS.

  • Power consumption for latest mac pros?

    I read on Apple.com somewhere that the 2008 Mac pro's maximum power consumption is 260+ Watts for a Quad-core. How different is it for the new Mac pros?

    I guess English is a lost language now.
    For the Mac Pro it is really really simple and based on 7 yrs of PowerMac G5s and then Mac Pro owners: 1500VA - you can get by with slightly smaller 1300VA and some people, because of better build, used SMART UPS 1000VA.
    And as I said in another thread, the Mac Pro 'suffers' from inrush current that can knock out smaller UPS, and people that have tried to use 500-900VA units got into a lot of trouble and had to upgrade.
    No one can know the total system watts used other than use a KILLAWATT on the power cord.
    Look at the case, can an iMac dispel as much heat as easily? no. It is designed for lower power and much fewer components.
    Core i7 has HyperTransport and Turbo boost for one thing. Apple had a huge coding problem with audio (incl iTunes and others), flash and Nehalem based systems. High cpu temperature and lost processor cycles and performance.
    The 2010 Mac Pro can do more for the same, and DDR3 lowered heat and watts noticeably.
    There are sites where you can plug in various components and get an idea of how large a PSU would be needed. Try one of those, too. PSU efficiency, and there is "overhead" needed for the motherboard chips and to run PCI Express for graphics, Firewire, etc. It all adds up.
    Apple's example is low-end system configuration, the chart says CPU MAX, not SYSTEM (but then, most everything on hardware requirements lately needs a grain of salt).
    Quad-core 2.66GHz configuration:

    Is anyone running Arch on a X200T or X200?
    I would be interested in your power consumption and your settings to achieve that consumption.
    I get around 10 to 11W with tlp installed (takes into account all powertop recommendations), PHC reduced voltages and with completely reduced brightness.
    I find my result pretty disappointing and expected to get less than 10W. Thus I am interested in your results.

    Also if you plan on using the laptop with the charger plugged in all the time you can even make the battery charge to 50-60%. I can't find the link for it right now, but the essence of it is that when your battery is at 30 degrees C its life is shortened faster if it is charged more. If you have some spare time you will learn a lot of usefull info from that site, I highly recommend it.
    I made a little script to aid me in changing the charge thresholds. Call it with one parameter and it sets the stop charge threshold with it and start charge threshold 4 percent below it. Call it with two parameters and it sets stop and start charge thresholds respectively. Call it without parameters and it displays some usefull info(you will have to look at the source to make use of it the first time:)
    It spits out some errors if you are plugged in but it works nonetheless. If you change the tresholds while plugged in your battery will charge all the way up to 100% no matter what parameters you give it(same if you set it via /sys interface manually, it's not the script that is buggy). I know it is not the most elegant script you've seen, but I am not a programmer :)

  • Ipad power consumption/drain?

    I read somewhere that using the ipad's cover lock/unlock function with a compatible case actually increases power consumption and reduces battery life. Is there any truth to this as I've noticed faster battery drain since switching this feature on? I've foolowed all the power saving tips on other forums but drain still seems to have increased.
    Any ideas?

    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer.   • Yoga 2 Pro, Etekcity 16Ah power bank and some additional measurements

    Hello guys, this would be my short review of Etekcity Wingman external battery I use with y2p. As you know, the y2p battery performance is a little disappointing for a Haswell ultrabook (at least for some), so it's a good idea to have some additional external battery beforehand. After some research I found the interesting candidate, the 16.000 mAh external battery manufactured somewhere in chinese factory (Shenzen?) and then being sold under many different brands (I found at least 5 of them on Amazon). I bought the Etekcity Wingman, as it was the cheapest, for 69$
    No links here, but you will find it easily. It has a classy aluminium shell, very good overall build quality, features 5V USB output and additional 12, 16 and 19V outputs with many different plugs. There is no rectangular Lenovo Yoga tip, but in the package you can find the Lenovo X1 big circular plug. So you need an additional converter Cable Adapter from Lenovo, part no. 0B47046 and voila, everything fits.
    This external battery can provide up to 19V and as you are aware, y2p needs 20V. But this is not a problem, it's only 5% difference and nothing to be worry about. As to the amperage, the battery can provide max 3A at 19V and y2p original power adapter is rated at 3.25A - but this is not a problem either, as during my actual measurements I never saw the current more than 3A (more about it later).
    16.000 mAh for li-po cells 3,7V gives about 59Wh of power capacity and this is important. The internal y2p battery is rated 54Wh, so 'theoretically' the external battery should more than double our y2p working time. Well, theoretically, because: 1. as for chinese products they almost always overrate battery specs 2. there is a limited efficiency for internal voltage conversion inside the battery electronics, so there are some losses (heat).
    So, what is the REAL capacity of this thing?
    I did a test. I depleted internal y2p battery to 20% and then I plugged in the Etekcity Wingman, set at 19V. It was able to charge the WORKING laptop for 1 hour and 25 minutes and y2p battery charged from 20% to 85% before the Wingman shut down. It was a little warm while working, but not hot at all (aluminium shell dissipates heat very good).
    What it means is that this external battery was able to provide about 2/3 (65%) of total internal y2p battery capacity and during that time the laptop was working consuming additional energy from the Wingman (70% brightness, wifi/BT on, some light browsing, nothing demanding). I am estimating that if the y2p was depleted completely and shut down, then the external battery would be able to charge it to about 80-85%. I find this result pretty good.
    So if you are able to achieve some 6.5h on internal y2p battery, this external battery gives you another 5h more, for total 11.5h working time out of the socket. Not bad.
    I have a laboratory digital power source, so I was able to do some additional interesting measurements (thanks to the cables and adapters):
    1. The Yoga 2 Pro starts charging at about 16.5V voltage level(!) Anything lower - it won't charge, higher - it will (no BIOS warnings whatsoever).
    2. The charging current for non-working laptop is about 1.6A (I did not set quick charge at Energy Manager).
    3. 70% brightness, "daily" power mode, wifi/BT on, keyboard lighting on and doing some lazy internet browsing needs about 470mA of current (averaged, idle is about 415 mA, as each wifi activity creates current jumps). For 20V it gives 9.4 Wh of power consumption and for 54Wh y2p internal battery it gives about 5h 45min of working time. Lets set this situation as a "base" level.
    4. Same as above, but power mode changed to "stable". Yellow turns mustard, but brightness intensity remains at 70%. The current goes down to about 420mA (50mA less!). It gives you additional 40 minutes for a total 6h 25min of working time.
    5. Same as above, but keyboard light is off. About 20mA of savings, + 15 min for a total 6h 40 min
    6. Same as above, airplane mode (wifi/BT off) - another 20mA of savings (not much), but there are no wifi current spikes so it's like idle mode - about 330mA of current consumption, giving about 8h 15min of working (word editing etc.)
    7. Same as above, 50% brightness (still pretty usable) - 305mA for a total 8h 50min of working time.
    8. Same as above, but with 16.000 mAh external battery - well, you figure it out (+80%)

    20V/3.25A means that if looking for an external power bank for your y2p the voltage must be exactly 20V and the amperage must be 3.25A or more (3.25 is minimum value). These are perfect values.
    But in real world some little deviances are permissible, like 5%. 19V and 3A are examples and I made sure that my external battery rated 19V/3A works good with Yoga 2 Pro. There are more 19V external power banks than 20V models out there and I've chosen my Wingman battery because it was really cheap. But it is always better to find one that meets voltage/amperage ratings perfectly.
    The Energizer XP18000 would be a perfect choice, because it can provide 20V/3.5A. But I dont know if the Lenovo plug is inside the package. And it's expensive.
    The "big circular plug" is 7.9 x 5.4 x 0.9mm plug for some other Lenovo machines, like Carbon X1. I never found an external power bank with "rectangular" y2p plug anyway.
