PowerMac G4 OS 10.4.11 will not recognise RAW images on a SDHC card but it will see JPGs why?

I have a PowerMac G4 OS10.4.11. I have recently bought a Lumix LX5 camera and it uses an SDHC card. My Mac will not recognise RAW image files stored on it either by plugging the camera into a USB slot or by using a USB card reader. Can anyone tell me how to overcome this problem?

I downloaded RPP and it does indeed open the RAW files and lets me convert them into TIFFs or JPGs which I can then import into Photoshop to play with. However I'm still confused about why I can't open them in Photoshop directly. My other camera is a SLR saving to a SanDisk Extreme lll Compact Flash card and I can open RAW files off that on the same computer with no problem using a Photoshop RAW converter plug-in.

After using PS CS6 for well over a year, Bridge now will not open RAW images in Camera Raw, although Photoshop does. When I try to open them in Bridge, I receive a popup message that says that it "requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature." Obviously, I have done so hundreds of times since installing and activating CS6. What gives, and how do I fix it?

Things have now become significantly worse!
Now when I try to open anything from Bridge, or try to open PhotoShop at all, I receive a popup that gives me 2 options: 1) License PS CC, or 2) continue with my trial of PS CC.
So far as I know, I have not downloaded any trial of anything from Adobe in many months. In fact, I have no interest in PS CC. I wish simply to use PS CS6.
I have uninstalled my Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard, of which my PS CS is a part, and reinstalled it but I still am blocked from using my properly licensed programs.
Please advise.

Bridge and Photoshop CS4 will not recognise the images shot in NEF file

That camera was recently supported for the first time by ACR 8.6, which needs at least CS6 to run. You will never be able to open those raw NEF files in CS4, as there will never be an update for CS4.
Your choices are to upgrade, or to use the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 on each and every batch of raw NEF files in order to convert them to raw DNGs that you can open in CS4.

Ipad 2 will not find me when i use or maps, but it will in the office - all wireless

My iPad 2 will not find my location when I use Maps when i am out of the office but it will when I am in the office - i use wireless. Location selector is ON.
Any ideas?

That's because the location of your home router is not yet in the router location database.

Newly installed CS2 will not recognize raw images

I have installed my Photoshop CS2 on my new computer. It will not recognize my raw images. I get a message that says "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document". I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it again but I am still getting the same message. I have also registered it with my serial number, but every time I get into the program I get a prompt telling me I need to register.

You have permission or compatibility issues. CS2 was never meant to run on contemporary operating systems. Problems are to be expecrted. Run as admin , turn off security stuff, try compatibility modes...

Facebook will not show profile pics or chat list pics , but ie will , is it a setting

With Facebook on display, click on the site identity button (for details on what that is see the [[site identity button]] article) and then on More Information. This will open up the page info dialog.
First select the Permissions panel, make sure that "Load Images" is set to allow (selecting Use Default should also work)
Next select the Media panel, then click on the first item in the list. Use the down arrow key to scroll through the list. If any item has the option "Block images from (domain name)" selected, de-select the option.
This should hopefully resolve your issue, but also see [[Images or animations do not show]].
Some add-ons can also block images, for example if you have AdBlock Plus installed, make sure that you have not accidentally created a filter to block the images.

Lightroom will not tether to my 5D, 5D Mark 2 but it will to my 30Ds

I am tethering to 3 new laptops using Windows 7 and LR 3.3 will tether to my 30Ds, but not to my 5D or my 5D Mark2. LR 3.3 actually did work with the Mark 2 for about 400 images , then it said it could not find the camera. Still works with the 30. I have swapped cables, laptops, and even to some of my PC's and I get the same thing.
I looked at Canaons website for a driver download, but did not find anything.
Is anybody capturing tethered with either of these camreas?

If you have win7 64 bit you have to change your connection type from PC to PTP and then it will work just like it should. I have no idea why that works but it does, at least with my 5D and win7 64 bit.
This may work for file transfers, but I don't think this will help for tethered mode. Other possibility is to use Windows 7 XP mode or Virtual PC:

Setup of a virtual enviroment for use with LR is not for the faint of heart....I would only recommend it if you absolutely need tethered mode for your 'Not Compatible' camera.
BTW - No harm will come from connecting ANY camera to a USB port on a system without comaptible drivers. It just won't connect or transfer files. Not to worry!

Firefox will not open PDF files from my financial website, but IE will.

When I try to open reports in Fidelity, UBS, etc, the file downloads, but removes the extension so it won't open and I get the message "Unknown file type". I tried the same procedure in IE, and the files open without problem. I do not want to use IE. How do I get the files to open. This is a recent (~5 days) problem.

ACR 7.4 is the one that will read T5i raw files and it is CS6 specific. You can upgrade for $200 Standard or $400 Extended in you need 3D support.
You can also see if converting your T5i files to .dng format will do just as well.

Why is 50GB of music gone? All music should exist on the computer. Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.

Equium M50 will not recognise the LAN port - error: Network Cable unplugged

I own a Toshiba Equium M50 and have problems with the Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.
I used to connect via an 'ADDON' Modem/ADSL Switch and had no problems. I then replaced the ADDON with a 'NETGEAR' DG834G ADSL Modem/Router to gain the wireless port, and since then my machine will not recognise the LAN port. <error: Network Cable unplugged>.
I know that the cables are OK as I used them with other laptops and had no trouble. I can also plug in a PCI card to connect without any problems. It looks to me as if the Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller has a problem with the netgear Modem/Router.
Anyone out there with a similar experience and some advice/suggestions?

For me it doesnt show like a LAN card problem but your router is a problem.
Check the device manager if the LAN card was properly recognized. If there are no yellow exclamation marks so everything is ok!
You can try to delete the LAN card from the device manager and after new reboot install the LAN driver again.
The issue has stared after installing or connecting the new Netgear modem router.
Therefore I would recommend to checking firstly the settings or to update the firmware on this router.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.
