PowerPoint to SWF

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to see if anyone recognizes this image. This is from a customer of mine who wants me to update an older project they have. It is a bunch of PowerPoint Presentations converted to SWF. There is a MAIN SWF that loads the individual SWFs. The user can click play and the slides are timed, and the blue bar below acts like a video bar that tells the user where they are at on the presentation. Does anyone recognize if this is an out-of-box- PowerPoint converter to SWF? I looked at a few, but none looked like this. The other option is for me to code something similar...
thank you for your time,
Rafa.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. I had no idea Adobe Presenter existed. I donwloaded the trial version and am playing with it right now. It seems to be similar, but not exactly the same. I will keep looking at my options...
thanks!
Rafa.

  • Powerpoint to SWF with Charts

When using FlashPaper to convert a Powerpoint presentation to
Flash, I am getting vertical lines down the middle on the slides
    that have charts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You would have to make copies of each chart with the items already selected. If you're interested on using a much easier application, you can use [XP3 BI Presenter|http://www.interactiveedge.com/products/xp3_bi_presenter_sap/xp3_bi_presenter.html],  that allows you to connect to SAP from within PowerPoint and create data-driven Excel charts and tables.

  • Converting PowerPoint to swf

I'm looking for a way to convert PowerPont to a SWF to be
    used in a PresentationSWF component.
Does any on have a good one to suggest?

There's quite a few ways. Do you want to do this manually, or
do you want an automated server side process?
For manual conversion, an easy and free way is to print the
ppt to pdf, and then use pdf2swf (
    http://www.swftools.org) to
convert the pdf to swf. You can also use openOffice, but I've found
the .swf's it generates to be a little wonky.
If you don't mind converting your ppt slides to bitmaps, I've
found dreamingsoft's ppt2swf to be very good.
    http://www.dreamingsoft.com
(they have an API version if you need it to run as a server side
    process).

  • Data Disappears from Line Chart in Preview Mode

Help! Line chart data present in design mode, but disappears when in preview mode.  I have a dashboard that I update monthly.  Simple line charts.  Now, the line chart data is visible while in the design view, but does not show up when in the preview view or even when converting it to a PDF or Powerpoint.  SWF issue?  Inputs are needed!
    Thanks,
    Stan

    Hi Stan,
The answer to, why the data disappears in runtime mode, depends on how you retrieve the data in your dashboard.
It seems that you have some sample static data in your spreadsheet that shown in design mode. But chances are that this data is set to be overwritten in runtime mode, if you import your data using QAAWS, Live Office or similar.
I would suggest you to add a "spreadsheet table" component (found in the bottom of the Selectors category in the components browser) to your dashboard. Set the spreadsheet table to display some of the cells in the spreadsheet that you expect to get populated during runtime.
In this way you can verify if data is actually present in the relevant cells during runtime.
By the way - this is also a best practice method to test data-retrieval in Xcelsius.
    I hope this helps.
    Kind Regards,
    Simon

  • Send video to back

    Hello,
I'm trying to put an image imported in my powerpoint document over the video. But there's no way to move the video back or move the image to front. The imported video or swf seems always to be on the front of the document...
    Can someone help me out.
    Thanks!

    Poulet,
Unfortunately, both swf animations and flv files will automatically be stacked on top of everything/anything else.  Preference is given to these elements so as to avoid playback problems.  Bottom line: no matter what you do on a PowerPoint slide, swfs and flvs will always appear on top of everything else on your slide.

  • Importing PPT to Flash

    Hi,
I want to import a PPT file into Flash, can anybody suggest
me a way to do it. My requirement is to integrate Voice Over in PPT

As PPT does not provide good support to synch VO with

then export it into video. Comments and suggestions are welcome...

  • Flash File (swf) in Powerpoint won't play after 1st time

    Windows XP,
    Powerpoint 2003
    Captivate4
    FlashPlayer 10
I've created a flash file using Captivate4 and successfully embedded it in a Powerpoint presentation using the controls toolbox.
It plays, but once I save and close the Powerpoint file then reopen, the swf file will no longer play - it is just a blank white flash player, with the player controls visible.    I checked the properties and the link is still there.  The control settings in properties are as follows:
    Embedmovie: true
    Loop: true
    Menu: true
Movie:  (has the link which worked the first time)
    Playing: true
Anyone out there ever have a similar problem and resolved it?

After looking around on varous other forums this seems to be the issue:
There are a bunch of known bugs in flash 9 and 10, one of those being an issue with the Event.COMPLETE not being fired from the main stage when loading from cache when it's embedded WMODE = "transparent"
I'm not sure if that's your issue, but it's worth looking into. I've heard of a few workarounds to the problem. One of them being, not listening for for progress or complete events at all and just using a timed loop like ENTER_FRAME or TIMER to watch the bytesLoaded/bytesTotal."
My WMODE is window, but this sounds like it makes the most sense. I have attached the AS3 file. From viewing the flash it appears to freeze up where it should be going into swfProgressHandle, I think that's whats happening because the load bar doesn't increase in width at all and loadText doesn't even get set to anything, which happens in swfProgressHandle. This what also coincide with the above quote. Now the problem I have is that I didn't write the loading area of this flash, I only wrote part of the stuff inside the loading functions and also everything inside init, the person who helped me with this I haven't been able to make contact with and this site is supposed to go live very very soon. I am desparate for help! At this point I'd be willing to paypal some money over to anyone who could help me with this and get this working appropriately.

  • Integrating a link to .swf (on same computer) from powerpoint?

This is a bit "off base," but I thought someone here may be able to help. I am working on some interactive animations for an upcoming meeting. Ideally, I would love to be able to have an interactive slide within powerpoint, however – don't think that is even possible.
That being said, I would like to place a link within a powerpoint presentation, so that when you click it, it launches a browser window and displays the .swf – preferably not online, just within a browser window.
Currently, when I try this, it is trying to open up flash to read the .swf, anyone have any experience with something like this?

I don't know what's involved or limited with embedding Flash in a PP presentation... If it were mine to conquer, I'd probably avoid PP and just use Flash for the presentation.
If you want to link to a browser then you need to link to an html web page containing the Flash content, not an swf file.  That will trigger opening a browser.  If you target the link at the swf file it should open the Flash Player, not the Flash editing software, though it may kick and scream along the way regarding security issues.

  • Powerpoint Narration not in Presenter-Published swf

    1) Create PPT slide show
    2) Record audio on slide with PowerPoint narration recorder (used to manage timing on slides and animations)
    3) Playback PPT slide show: audio is present, timings work
    4) Publish to "My Computer" with Presenter (version 7.07)
    5) Open HTML/SWF in browser window to playback published slide show
    6) NO AUDIO
    Any help? Thanks.
Do I have to use the Presenter audio recorder and the "next" button on the tiny-little-hard-to-work-with recorder popup to make it work? (sorry for the editorializing)
Why doesn't Presenter use the narration and timings generated by PowerPoint and from within PowerPoint?
    Michael
    eLS 2.5 (etc.)

Heyward is correct. The short version of the answer is that Presenter has to build the presentation in Flash using server rules. Thus cannot make local file path calls, which is where the audio would reside if in PPT. So, you should be able to open the Import Audio tool and there should be a button for importing the PPT audio. Keep in mind that this will not keep your timings created in PPT, but is easily fixed in the Sync Audio tool.
Not sure what you are talking about with the Presenter Audio recorder, as once you know how it works, recording audio is no harder (possibly easier) than doing the same thing in PPT.
As to why doesn't it translate the info from PPT? Well, it is an Adobe product living in a MS product. So, MS writes the rules as to what the visibility and integration can be with their tools. So you are seeing the result of two software houses in one place. Is it perfect? No, but it is a pretty wonderful tool to use. I say that as a user of Presenter for the past 6+ year. The biggest thing that I see is people have false or unreasonable expectations of the tool itself. It all comes down to honestly knowing what it will and won't do, and the best practices for getting it done. If needed, you may want to look at a traditional class for Presenter. It's amazing what you can learn, and learn to avoid, if you are set up to succeed from the beginning.
Feel free to PM me if you want, as I do teach Presenter, or there are plenty of great resources out there if you need them.

  • FlashPaper hangs when converting PowerPoint t to Flash swf

I tried a very simple one page powerpoint with the word test.
I hit FlashPaper-convert to Flash SWF; the dialog box appears and
indicates it is converting but it never finished. Is this also a
bug and is there a fix?
    Thx,

No you can't from a book - there might be a script for it?
I've had alook around and I can't find one.
You could place all the indesign files into a new indesign file and then export to SWF that way.
There's a script called multipage importer that would be able to automate the inesertion of all the pages.

  • SWF insert to powerpoint

I am using Window 7 pro, 64 bit, PowerPoint 2010 and FP 17.The swf files are associated with FP17.  I have attempted to add a swf file into PP using both the insert video option along with the Developer method. The insert video option I get a black box and when I attempt to preview this I get an error message "Your current security settings do not allow this action'. When I open PP, the developer version shows only a white box. I have tried the following to correct this:
Inserted swf as video through Insert/Video ribbon
    Inserted swf through developer tab
Changed security settings in Powerpoint to enable all x active and macros
    Changes the registry lockdown settings
Updated both the flash player plugins and stand-alone player
Changed the swf file association to IE, Firefox and stand-alone player
Saved presentation as ppt, pptx and pptm
I was under the impression the FP 17 was going to resolve this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

This isn't my area of expertise, but AFAIK, the issue with powerpoint was fixed in Flash Player 15.
Do you have the latest Flash Player for Internet Explorer installed?  Powerpoint is going to use an embedded IE window, so having the latest Firefox plugin wouldn't help you.
Inserting Flash into Powerpoint isn't my area of expertise, but we've been referring to this guidance, which seems really solid:

    Hello,
There is a known issue with Flash not working in Power Point in Flash Player 14.0.0.145.  It will be fixed in the next release.  In the mean time, you can download a beta build containing the fix at http://www.adobe.com/go/flashplayerbeta.
If you have comments on the beta build, please post them at Flash Player Beta Channel, instead of here on the 'Using Flash Player forums.

I insert a SWF in PowerPoint and it loads and plays perfectly the first time. I close and save the presentation as it is to my liking. When I re-open the presentation the SWF file is still on the slide, however, it will not play. How do I fix this?

Adobe creative site has the functionality to embed swf files into PowerPoint. So I don't care if its not a good idea. I just want to know the issue.
Sent from my iPhone, please excuse any brevity or misspellings.

  • Individual Powerpoint SWFs during Export

How can I use Captivate to export a PPT slide deck to
individual SWFs? I can only seem to export the entire set as a
single SWF. Are there other tools that can do this for me? I don't
want to individually import each PPT slide in a CP file to do this.
    Thank you for any assistance.

Hi JimSym and welcome to our community
If you are wanting multiple .SWF files for each PowerPoint
slide, Captivate won't be your tool of choice. Probably you want to
investigate Breeze. Specifically, the Breeze plug in for
    PowerPoint.

    this in more detail.
