  • Premiere Elements 9 - "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements..(2)

    Hi,
I have the exact same problem as described here but the solution proposed here didn't work:
Premiere Elements 9 - "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements....
I'm still getting the message "Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down.  We will attempt to save your current project.".
I uninstalled, reboot, installed, reboot a few times and it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions?  I'm using Premiere Elements 9 and Windows 7, 64 bits.  It was working before.  It started after I had to reformat my harddrive and reinstall everything.
    Thanks,

...By the way, when you did that and deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs deletion did not resolve the problem, did you then delete the whole folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists?
[YH] Yes I did but it didn't work.
    1. When you did the uninstall/reinstall, did you include a ccleaner run through between the uninstall and the reinstall? Good idea to do that to remove any leftovers from incomplete uninstall reinstalls.
[YH] Done but didn't work. I just ran the CCleaner free version.  I'm not sure if it's enough.
    2. Do you have the 9.0.1 Update installed.
    [YH] Done but didn't work.
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer
[YH] I didn't have QuickTime installed.  It is now but didn't do any difference.  I uninstalled Adobe Premiere Elements, ran CCleaner, reboot, installed APE, reboot... still doesn't work.
    3. Are you running your computer from a User Account with Administrative Privileges as well as Run As Administrator (from right click of program desktop icon and selection of Run As Administrator?
    [YH] Yes
    4. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
[YH] I'm assuming yes because it was working before.
    5. Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus program disabled?
[YH] I haven't tried yet but see item number 6 below.
    6. Go to Computer/Manage/Services and Applications/Services and assure that FLEXnet Licensing Service is started.
[YH] I don't see any FLEXnet.  I don't remember installing this on any computer.  I googled it but I'm not sure I understand what and from where to install it.  I checked at work on another computer running Adobe Premiere Elements and FLEXnet is running on that computer. So this might be the source of the problem.
    7. The following is a version 12 remedy, let us see if this will work for 9.0/9.0.1
As described in the link below, rename the SLCache Folder and the SLStore Folder.

  • Premiere Elements 12 I get the error ..\..\Src\Core\Preferences.cpp-347

When I try to run Premiere Elements 12 I get the error ..\..\Src\Core\Preferences.cpp-347, I've uninstalled and reinstalled as an admin, tried running as an administrator, and every single time I open the program I click on video editor and then new project, I get the black and purple candy cane loading bar, shortly (sometimes instantly) after I get the error message.
    Any help is much appreciated

Since your duplicate thread has been closed and all replies directed to this one, I wanted to make sure that you did not miss my message going between threads.
The following is a copy/paste of what I wrote in your now closed thread:
    James Neston
Please avoid duplicate posts since they tend to confuse the person writing them as well as the people trying to respond to the question.
I have seen the error that you present appear often, but I have not seen an agreed on the resolution, if a resolution at all.
What I would do first is to update your Premiere Elements 12 to 12.1. See the opened project's Help Menu/Updates. If the problem persists after the update to 12.1, then let us look at the Scratch Disk set up and situation.
When you go to Expert workspace, Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks, where are all the categories directed to on the computer hard drive and how much free space is at the location(s)?
Did you install Premiere Elements 12 to its default location or other. If other, where?
There are a lot of Troubleshooting avenues to go down (some old, some new, some questionable), but let us start with the above and then decide what next.
But before all that, please respond to the questions already asked you by SG.
    Thanks.

What is the computer operating system involved? Can we assume Premiere Elements 12 as the new purchase? And, are you trying to install from an installation disc or from purchased online downloaded installation files?

  • Premiere Elements 7, Sorry, a serious error has occurred  that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to..

Hi, my software just recently started giving me the folowing error and it does not work (start):
Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adone Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.
I had tried everything, even uninstalling and reinstalling the program and still it does not work. Does anybody have this issue?
Do you know how to fix it?

I found the root casue of the problem. I just turn OFF the McAfee antivirun software and the Premiere Elements 7 works now.
I realized that McAfee updated the version on April 20 and i think this version has a problem with the Adobe Premiere Elements programm.

  • Premiere Elements 9 - "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements....

When I start up a new project in Premiere Elements 9, the only thing that comes up is the gray screen.  When I try to open any existing project, I get the following message:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
I have tried all of the suggestions on this website and still, nothing works.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    JerryK713
First question that comes to mind is "Is this a never worked before type issue or it worked before but not now type issue?"
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on? Do you have the Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Update installed? And, the typical drill questions, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed and are you working from a User Account with Administrative Priviledges?
Since Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 is a 32 bit application, we would revisit the question of your computer resources...processor, installed/available RAM, free hard drive space? Is your computer optimized...defragmented, video and audio card drivers up to date, pile ups preview files and conformed video and audio files cleaned out? Scratch Disks directed to save location with enough free space to receive them?
Have you checked to make sure that antivirus and firewalls are not contributing to or causing the issue?
Another thought...are you running a dual (or more) monitor setup with your current video card?
Please review and then we can decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 11 -- Visual C++ Runtime Error when trying to add Movie Menus

Premiere Elements seems to be working fine in all reapects, except when I try to add Movie Menus, nothing shows up in the Movie Menu area, and eventually I get a Visual C++ Run time error as shown in the attached image.  When I click OK, the program crashes.  This is repeatable.
I am running Windows 7 with latest Service Pack.  I am running dual GeForce cards, with the latest drivers.  No other software is giving me any issues.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Steve,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have my two graphics cards SLI sttings properly configured, and they have been working correctly for every other Premiere unctionality, as well as all of the rest of CS6 applications (and Lightroom).  I have double-checked that I do have the latest drivers from nVidia's site.
I do have the latest QuickTime software.
I have gone in and updated all of the optional Windows updates.
I keep getting the same error, but I think I can describe it better.
When I go into the Movie Menu panel, the "Add a theme" link in the panel does not respond.  When I click the Menu Theme button in the upper right corner of the Movie Menu panel, I do get the library of themes to select from, but when I select one, it does not load in to the panel.  (It does download the content from online, though it doesn't show on the screen. I just see the "Add a theme" link in the middle of the page.)  The Adjustments panel on the right is completely blank.
I can click the "Done" button to close the Movie Menu panel.  But when I try to open the Movie Menu panel a second time, it crashes immediately and I get the error message from my last post in this thread.
I have repeatedly re-booted my computer, but I get the identical behavior.  All of the other functionality of Premiere Elements still work.
If the next receommendation is to re-install the software, do I have to move my projects anywhere?  Or do I just leave them and re-install?
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • Premiere Elements 11 "installing Shared Technologies" error during install

How do I fix the "The installation process has encountered an error whil installing Shared Technologies.  Please restart your system and try again." error while installing Premiere Elements 11?  Photoshop Elements 11 installed fine, but I keep receiving this error while trying to install Premier Elements 11.
    I have already tried:
    Install from CD
    Install from C: drive root
Install from Adobe website trial version
Install from CD, after clean boot
In each case it installs at the same place with the same error.
From searching these forums and doing a web search it seems like a common problem with no clear solution.

    FFWLKin
I do not know if what I am about to report will help or confuse the Premiere Elements users further on this Shared Technology error encountered during Premiere Elements installation, but here is hoping that something in the following experience might be of help to someone....
I entered your thread with the Shared Technology error (targeting Elements Organizer/Data 7) when trying to install Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 on a new Windows 8 64 bit computer. Unlike the others I had no problems installing Premiere Elements 11 and Photoshop Elements 11 from the Adobe installation disc a week earlier on this brand new Windows 8 64 bit computer. Short of re-formatting the hard drive, I did everything plus with no luck in getting versions 10 installed on this Windows 8 64 bit computer. So, I decided to focus on working with the already installed version 11 programs.
I headed for Premiere Elements 11 to create a DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc and to my horror found that the program's burn dialog had no burner(s) in the burner location (either the build in one or an external burner (USB). But, Premiere Elements 11 burn to folder did work. On the other hand, I found that Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer File Menu feature to burn (datadisc) to CD or DVD did recognize these burners and that burn to feature worked. I went through the typical drill for those in this type of situation and nothing remedied the problem. So, I decided to go for the deactivate/uninstall/reinstall route. Well,  now Premiere Elements 11 reinstallation ran into the same fate as Premiere Elements 10, that is, it ran into the Shared Technologies error related to installation of the Elements Organizer and Premiere Elements 11 would not install after going through everything decribed in this thread, excluding re-formatting the hard drive.
    1. Deactivated/uninstalled Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11.
    2. Apply the cclearer: cleaner and registry cleaner. And, then went into the Registry and deleted all related to Photoshop Elements 10/Premiere Elements 10 as well as Photoshop Elements 11/Premiere Elements 11.
    3. Disabled firewall, antivirus, spyware...
    4. Tried to reinstall Premiere Elements 11, using the installation files (setup.exe in 64 bit folder) copied to hard drive. No go. Same Shared Technology error.
    5. Started deleting programs that I had installed after the initial successful installs of Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 (these programs included iTunes, VLC player, and ImgBurn). Still no go for the Premiee Elements 11 install, and same Shared Technologies error.
FINALLY, Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 got successfully installed on this Windows 8 64 bit computer according to the following scenario (iTunes, VLC player, and ImgBurn still removed from system...firewall, antivirus, spyware protection re-enabled)
    1. Attached a USB burner to computer via one of its USB 3.0 ports.
    2. Inserted the Adobe installation disc into the burner tray of this burner in order to install the program(s) via the installation disc.
    3. Selected install for Photoshop Elements 11. It went to completion without problem.
    4. Selected install for Premiere Elements 11. It went to completion without problem. And, now the burn dialog/burner location did recognize the computer's built in burner and my USB external burner.
None of the above may have had anything to do with what finally triggerd the version 11 installation processes to go to completion. But, I add this to the mix of how Photoshop Elements 11/Premiere Elements 11 finally got installed in Windows 8 for the user.
And, I would offer this suggestion to those who have already installed Premiere Elements 11 on their Windows 8 64 bit. As soon as possible make sure you have burners listed in the burner location of the program's burn dialog.

  • How do I install Adobe Premiere Elements when I get this error message...?

I have bought the DVD bundle of Adobe Premiere Elements and Photoshop. They both come on a single DVD. When I attemp to install Premiere I get the error message... "This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor".
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5536, AMD Athlon, 64 x 2 dual-core, 2.1 GHz. I bought it in 2009 and it runs with Vista.
Is my laptop too old or not powerfull enough? Or is there a problem with Vista? Please help.

    johnfallan61982
Your problem with the Premiere Elements 11 download blows the following question away, but I will ask it anyway.
If you purchased the bundled Photoshop Elements 10 Premiere Elements 10, how many discs did you receive. It should have been five. And, with Windows Vista 32 bit and Premiere Elements 10 in the equation, you should have been using the disc labelled 1 of 5. Was all of that the case?
What service pack do you have for your Windows Vista 32 bit? And, do you know if your laptop's processor has SSE2 support?

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 7 files encountering major errors

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 7 and every time I try to edit certain parts of my movie I get major errors. Here's what I've done to try to fix the problem:
gone through some of the troubleshooting tips from adobe.com
    uninstalled and reinstalled PE7
did a system restore to several days ago when it was working fine
The movie I am editing is over an hour long, and has a variety of movie clips, pictures, narration, and music. When I press play it works pretty good, but when I want to move the narration around or "clear" a certain clip, it goes crazy!! Here's a few of the error boxes I've seen:
    Premiere Elements Debug Event
    [..\..\Src\Sequence\TrackItemTrack.cpp-480]
    and also this one
    [..\..\Src\VideoSegment.cpp-55]
When those come up I can only click "continue" and then it pops up again and again until finally it says that there was an error, it must close down, and it will try to save the project.
This has also come up before the file opens:
Found default catalog. Trying to open the default catalog.
And, when I did the system restore this came up when I opened PE7:
The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall or call customer support.
I have a deadline to meet with this movie, but I can't even edit it closes down on me so much! I have tried opening other PE7 movie files and edit them and they seemed to work fine from the little I did. Could it be that the file itself has something wrong with it? I have had minor problems with PE7 before but nothing as bad as this! I have my movie file saved on the computer hard drive, and two separate external hard drives. I have tried opening the file from all three places but they are all the same.
I am not a computer whiz, but If you need any more info, let me know, and please respond ASAP!!
    Thanks!

Well, it's not working again. Here's what happened:
I opened that other file this morning, like I told you. I edited for a few hours, then I added a picture, then tried moving some clips that were grouped together, but instead of moving them it did something else (not sure what) and then it said there was an error and it had to close down (I was able to delete the picture off the timeline, just in case that was causing the problem, which I don't think it was). I was glad to have gotten so much editing in, but really disappointed it wasn't fixed completely like I'd hoped. So I opened PE7 again and it said I needed to save the file as another name. So I did that and kept editing for another few hours, with no major problems. Then, when I was moving something around again there was an error message and it closed down. At this point I was thinking "This isn't good, but hopefully it will open again and work like last time." But no, this time, the file wouldn't even OPEN!! This is the worst it's been. Those same error messages come up (PE Debug Event) and a new one too:
Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error
    Program: ...\AdobePremiereElements7.0\AdobePremiereElements.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I've been having a few minor problems with Windows Vista as well, such as the scroll bar on the Internet going up and down like crazy for several seconds, and also a runtime error (similar to the one above) when I open a folder under my computer. Could it be I have a virus? I have Vipre antivirus installed on my computer so hopefully that is taking care of anything like that.
I can open a copy of the movie file I made earlier today (but I'm not sure yet if I can edit with it or not - I don't want to make a bunch of changes and lose my work!), but not the latest file I worked on that had the last problems. Here are my project presets:
(this forum won't let me copy and paste!)
    General
    Editing Mode: DV NTSC
    Timebase: 29.97 frames/second
    Video:
    Frame size 720 horiz. 480 vert. 16:9
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2)
    Fields: Lower Field First
Display format: 30 fps Drop-Frame Timecode
    Audio:
    Sample rate: 48000Hz
    Display format: audio samples
    Capture format: DV capture
    Video Rendering
    Maximum bit depth (not checked)
    Previews:
    File Format: DV NTSC
    Compressor: DV NTSC
    Color Depth: millions of colors
    Optimize stills (checked)
The narration is a .wav file,
    the pictures are .jpg
the videos are all .avi (some were conformed from .MTS to.avi with PE7 under SHARE)
By "assets, stills, video etc. on the timeline" do you mean I should tell you everything I have on the timeline in order? Or did you mean something else? I was a little confused by that (I'm a visual person and so new to this!).
Thanks so much for your help!!

Please report back into this thread, as we can all possibly learn something. This can be very useful, as most of the "regulars" are PC-only users, and only a few are fluent in things Mac. However, even we PC-users, try to learn of fixes for the Mac.
Now, that is not saying that your issue is platform-centric, as it might be a problem that we have just not seen on the PC.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements Blu-Ray Burn Fatal Error

How can I make my Premiere Elements 8 burn a Blu-Ray H.264 1920x1080 project without stopping (not crashing) with a “fatal error”(encoding media ~97% > burning disc 0% > fatal error; Adobe Media Encoder – Property Data Invalid”) after 13 hours?
I am trying to burn 629 stills (up to: 1671x1080, TIFF; PSD does not help) in 6 clips.  The stills and clips are ok since I can render them and also burn any 3-5 clips (up to at least 7.47 GB) but not all 6 (7.75 GB, 52:23).  The full project at 7.75 GB does not exceed BD-RE disc capacity (25 GB, full erase).  I can burn the full 7.75 GB, 52:23 project in H.264 1440x1080, just not 1920x1080.
I have followed http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/515/cpsid_51553.html = “Troubleshoot system errors and freezes when burning DVDs or blu-ray discs (Adobe Premiere Elements 8)”.
My Gateway LX6200-01 seems adequate: 2.20 GHz processor = AMD Phenom 9500 Quad core 64-bit; Windows 7 64-bit, Home Premium, latest update; Color Monitor 1280x1024, 32 bit color; 8 GB RAM; C:\(program disc) = 478 GB free; D:\(photo disc) = 463 GB free; E:\(media cache) = 92 GB free; F:\(disc encoding cache) = 258 GB free; ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics adapter (latest driver update); BD-RE = LGE BH08LS20, firmware 2.0 (latest update), set to DMA mode; PRE8 & PSE8: 64-bit, latest update.
All startup items and services disabled with msconfig.

Steve: Thanks for your good guidance.
Yes, I can output to an MPEG .m2t file, either H.264 1440x1080i 30 or H.264 1920x1080i 30.  I can also burn H.264 1920x1080 either directly or with the .m2t file to BD-RE discs (as long as I shorten the disc name to less than 12 characters).  But I can not burn either 1440x1080 or 1920x1080 to BD-R, either directly or with .m2t files.  When I try, the BD-burner "thrashes" for ~5 minutes before PRE8 quits with "disc error" (but PSE8 will "burn data" to a BD-R disc).
The MS website says that my LGE BH08LS20 is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit and I have updated its firmware to 2.00 which LGE says is Windows 7 compatible.
    Any ideas?
