Premiere Pro CC Multicam - 2 camera angles being split into multiple tracks

I love CC's multicam feature, but keep having this problem:
In Pluraleyes, I would lay all my Cam 1 material on video track 1 (multiple clips), then Cam 2 on video track 2 (multiple clips), add my audio, and create a multicam track that kept all Cam 1 clips on track 1 and all Cam 2 clips on track 2.
in Premiere Pro CC, multicam creation can only be exectued via the browser, not the timeline. So Premiere syncs everything up and throws each clip onto the next video track up, leaving you with a mountain of timeline media that reads out tiny and jumps all over the place when viewed in the multicam monitor (see picture).
What I'm after:
- the ability to create multicam sequences based on the timeline (lay out all clips from each cam on whichever video track I want, select all, then choose "create multicam sequence") so that the end result isn't 20 video tracks I have to manually collapse into 2 (time waster).
Help Adobe?
thanks
jesse

I know this is a rather old post, but have been having a play with multi cam for a while and watching a few videos so help this helps.
What I do to get rid of extra cameras that are generated with each new multicam process.
The process im mentioning is very briefly mentioned in this clip : Adobe Premiere Pro CC Tutorial | Performing Multi-Camera Editing - YouTube
Once I have made my multicam source file.
Drag to new sequence icon (similar to what is done with a clip and want to make a quick sequence from clips properties.)
You will have the green nested footage (this will have multicam enabled by default.
Ctrl + Double Left click the green bar. This reveals all the clips and audio.
Arrange the clips onto which ever video layer you want (each representing a Camera)
Double click the the sequence created to reset the sequence to have the green bar for editing but with only 2-3 cameras as desired and not the 12 you dread.
First time poster, sorry if not overly clear.

    hI all!
How can I do a Premiere Pro cs6 multicam editing when there is a "audio only" clip too? for exemple when there is an external service audio recording?
Selecting the clips and right clic the create source multi-camera menù command is deactivated, and this option is not available; why doesn't it work?
    thank you all.

You can always do things the original (and often better) way.
    Manually.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Editing multi‑camera sequences (CS6)

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/editing-multi-camera-sequences1.html

According to the tutorial at http://www.video2brain.com/en/videos-13067.htm audio now defaults not to Track 1 of the source sequence as it used to, but to the video first selected when choosing between the multiple cameras.
I understand TimB was wishing to mix audio in the audio mixer in the source sequences and apply that to the multicam sequence without export audio and re-importing.
According to my notes to self in June 2012 when I used CS6 to do a multicam project, I wrote:
“To enable audio for all cameras, right click on the Source Sequence and ‘Open in Timeline’
Enable all the audio tracks you want.”
    And that was all.
However the PremPro instructions for CS6 says:
Enabling audio in the multi-camera source sequence
By default, Premiere Pro only enables audio channel one in the multi-camera source sequence. For multi-camera editing workflow, enable each audio track manually before editing the target sequence. To enable audio tracks for the multi-camera source sequence, do the following:
    1. Open the multi-camera source sequence by selecting the multi-camera source sequence icon in the Project panel, right-click
(Win) or Ctrl-click (Mac OS) the icon, and then choose Open In Timeline.
    2. The Timeline opens. Select the audio tracks, and then enable the other audio tracks by clicking the Toggle Track Output
    button for each audio track.
    3. Now that all audio tracks are enabled, you can close the sequence
This is how I remember it but it doesn’t gel with TimB’s post. There are two sections in the Help pdf, one for CS5.5 (and I think CS5) and a separate one for CS6 as quoted above.

  • Can I change the fisheye look through premiere pro, from a GoPro camera?

Can I change the fisheye look through premiere pro, from a GoPro camera?

That depends, at least in part, on which platform you're. [That and the exact version of Premiere Pro you have are two data points that you should always include...]
On Windows, Premiere has an effect called Lens Distortion.  I'm not sure what your options are on Mac. If someone else doesn't come along with suggestions for Mac, then Googling "'Premiere Pro" mac fisheye GoPro" yields some promising hits.

  • Does anyone know how to put 6 windows in premiere pro cc  for multi cameras,  for 6 cameras actually

Does anyone know how to put 6 wndows in premiere pro cc for multi cameras, for 6 cameras actually.

The workflow that Jim spelled out is for doing what's called a "multi-cam edit." This allows you to conveniently switch among different video clips, often from multiple cameras that shot the same performance or event. The end result is a segment where only one clip is visible at a time.
The way I read your question, what you want to do is show six clips all at once, which is typically referred to "picture in picture." To do that, follow the first 3 steps Jim provided. (By the way, in Step 2, the key is to stack the clips on six different tracks, as opposed to lining them up head-to-tail.) Then select each clip in turn and use the Position and Scale controls in the Effect Controls Panel to shrink it and move it where you want within the frame. Here's a tutorial video on this workflow: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adobe-beginner-classes-with-dennis-radeke/episode-7-adobe-premie re-pro-picture-in-picture/.

Thanks for responding. Everything seems to work right except for the when I plug into the 737. Ok let me see if I can be more clear. I had this set up done with two representatives of Neumann, and DBox. Here it is I hope this helps. 32 Channel snake (24 Inputs 8 outputs) Channels 1-8 from snake to my Octopre for Drums. From Octropre output quarter inch lines into the Apollo 2, quarter inch input. This is so that the Apollo 2 is taking the drum tracks. Snake Channel 9-12 into Apollo 1 channels 1-4 xlr. Snake Channel 13-16 into Apollo 2 Channels 1-4 xlr. Snake Channel 17 into the 737, output of 737 into Channel 5 of the Apollo 1 quarter inch.
Ok The Dbox. Sum output L&R into channel input 7&8 of Apollo 1. Apollo 1 output channels 1-8 into summing input channel 1-8 of Dbox. Apollo 1 main L&R going to main analog input L&R of Dbox. Spid out to DAW input of Dbox. I have both ADAT of both Apollos connected by optical wire. Also have port 2 of Apollo 1 into port 1 of Apollo 2 connected by Firewire.  Let me know. Hope I got it right. Thanks for responding.

  • Premiere pro cs6 multicam stress test

    hey everyone.
been shooting with 6 synced cameras recently, and the whole project setup worked just fine for as i decided to switch from fcp to premiere with this project.
i edited the first two clips back in fcp just to make sure i get in the groove before diving into a new program which i expected nothing less from than to work properly
which it did in the beginning.customizable keyboard layout, familiar workspace, everything seemed in place.
i easily set up my sometimes 16-track multiclips and this is where it got really bumpy.
so i am writing this to get feedback proving me wrong.
    first of all:
why is there a multicam monitor that sort of hovers above the timeline and doesn't interact with it?
sure i can press record and then select my angles, but with more complicated setups this is close to totally unusable. i don't want to react to my images, i want to be ahead of the cut.
more precisely: if i shuttle frame by frame in the multicam monitor, the record option is inactive, but for certain, more complex edits (16 tracks...) edits i need this like a fish needs water, because my brain doesnt process 16 tracks at once and sometimes i want to make 2 or 3 cuts a second... you get the point.
this "thing" (multicam monitor) is semi pro, at best.
so i closed this window and tried it the usual way...
lets say i have a timeline and it's been edited 10 seconds in, maybe 15 cuts.
if i now doubleclick my timeline and shuttle over it, i'd expect my source window to
    1) display my 16 tracks simultaneously in the source monitor.
    2) mark the track that i am currently on in the timeline in the source monitor ("jumping" yellow mark around the current track).
    ...it doesn't.
while in fcp it all runs simultaneously.
in premiere i have to drag the timeline onto the source monitor, then "gag" it with the program monitor and then...
if i play it back just the selected monitor (source/program) plays it back.
    why is this?
first of all: if i gag both monitors after shuttling at different times - out of sync.
why do i even have to do this?
so my current workaround is this.
    - multiclip (nested sequence actually) on my timeline.
    - drag it onto the source monitor.
    - gag it with the program monitor (otherwise my timeline cursor doesnt move)
    - select the frame where it want to cut
    - select my timeline again
    - cut
    and start all over.
if i forget about one of these steps it gets reeeeally messy.
please tell me that i am doing it all wrong.

you're right, but i never expected premiere pro to be "the same".
and i am not gonna complain about the multicam functionality once more, i just like things to work and usually it's human error,
but in this case PP just seems to lack certain vital functions.
if i ctrl+click it it gives me a context menu, which i can leave aside by doubleclicking/dragging the timeline to the source monitor and then simply click the desired angle.
if i ignore my timeline and just rely on the "go to next edit point" button in the multicam monitor, i can not set an edit point without playing back... (if there's a shortcut take this as virtual hug if you tell me)
then i have to close the MCmonitor in order to trim my cuts, then jump back in the MCmonitor.
adobe put so much effort in reducing clutter (which i definitely give them the credits for, well done adobe.)..
but this specific function reduces the working speed immensely, especially when you have to use it 12hours+.
the program is called "pro" and i just hope adobe takes this term more seriously than the company with the well known fruit logo did.
don't get me wrong i know what it means to pull off a major rewrite like this and i bow in awe before adobe to create such flawless software, but this is a chance for as thousands of ex-fcp users tend to switch these days. not just for software reasons but also for hardware reasons because on the pro side a macpro is just not enough for certain workloads anymore.

  • Premiere Pro 2014 MultiCam forgets cut points when rendering (Adobe please help!!)

I have started using multi-cam and notice that almost always when using multi-cam the rendered results are incorrect - with many camera selections forgotten or flipped to exact opposite!
Very frustrating - especially since you discover after render!!
Many times when I select Camera A at some point and then later go to beginning of sequence - many of the selections have been reversed with reversal again at clip transitions - resulting in exact opposite of what I selected or random changes. Locking the tracks does not prevent this. It seems to be overriding my choices based on some program logic!!
This is with latest Premiere Pro 2014.1 {8.1 build)
Useless feature if you cannot get it to render your selections but rather random selection
Wish there was a manual! And not just incomplete video tutorials that are teaser for some associate's paid training (of unknown value).
Or at least quick forum / support response from Adobe representatives so I can be productive with the tooling.
Another week of no answers and I will have to recreate in FCP X where multi cam seems to work fine.
Not the best for brand loyalty, eh?
    Please help

I'm thinking it might be operator error on this one.  Here's a process that works every time.
    1. Create a sequence matching the specs of your footage.
    2. Add your clips.
    3. Sync manually.
    4. Create a second sequence matching the first.
    5. Nest the first sequence into the second.
    6. Right click on that nested sequence and choose Multi-Camera>Enable
    7. Turn on the Multi-camera view in the Program Monitor.
    8. Play the sequence in real time, switch angles using keyboard shortcuts.  If you make a mistake, leave it for later.
    9. When you're done with the first pass in real time, go back to the normal view in the Program Monitor.
    10. Move through the sequence a second time, cut by cut, tweaking as necessary with the Rolling Edit tool (shortcut N).
On a side note, 2014.2 is actually the current version.  You should update.

  • Premiere Pro CC - Multicam going black when exiting/switching workspace

    Hello everyone,
New poster here. I'm editing footage of a live CD recording and experience trouble with multicam editing.
First, I synced all my cameras (9) to audio in a first sequence. I then exported each video track of that sequence to low-res, 720p proxies. My hard drives sadly can't cope uo with 9 AVCHD flux playing simultaneously in multicam mode. I then create a second sequence, in wich each track is a different camera angle. I don't use the "Create a source sequence for multicam" feature, beacause I plan to replace the tracks with the HD files once Im done with the multicam cuting, wich I think You can't do with that option. Plus, . Finally, I do the multicam editing in a third sequence.
The problem: each time I switch workspaces or exit Premiere, some parts of the third sequence show up black, while some stay alright. The cuts are not gone, nor is the camera choice, but for some chunks of the sequence, all the cameras show up black. The tracks in the multicam source sequence are fine, as are the video files. See the 2 screenshots below for more clarity.
Here, everything wotks just fine (camera 8 is black, was offline at this time)...
and here, all my clips show up as black, event though the source sequence is fine.
Needless to say, it's incredibly frustrating. I can't understand why some parts of the edit show up perfectly fine and others don't. Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Found a solution?
Thaks in advance for the help!

    HI everyone
I noticed one mote thing for this orblem: the part of my tracks that appear "black" all hve the little triangle markers that indicate the beginning and end of my clips. So, it seems that Premiere believes this part of the timeline to be individual clips and do not see them as cuts of a longer clip. Strange...

  • 'This project was saved in a newer version of Adobe Premiere Pro' but the project came from the exact same version??

    Hey there,
I have two computers running the exact same version of Premiere (CC 2014) and both are currently updated.
I saved the project onto the server using one computer, then when I try to open it on the other comp I get this message:
'This project was saved in a newer version of Adobe Premiere Pro and cannot be opened in this version.'
Both comps are logged into the same creative cloud account and both work fine individually...
Does anyone out there have a fix for this??
    Help would be much appreciated!!
    Thanks!

Are you sure the updates are the exactly the same, look at the 'about' details under the help menu, are the build numbers the same:

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 - Crash when dragging videofile into timeline

    Hey guys,
when I try to drag a image or videofile (doesn't really matter which fileformat, codec or length) into a sequence Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 will crash immediately, without a warning. Just the usual "Adobe Premiere has stopped working" in Windows 7.
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit with 4GB RAM, Intel Core i3-4130 COU @ 3,40 GHz and a Intel HD Graphics 4400. Premiere Pro worked seamlessly just days before, without any change to the system. The error occured in Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 too. Maybe it's a problem with the video preview? Music files are no problem.
Thanks in advance! Need help asap. customers are waiting

    Solution:
My graphics card did not supported the "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL)". You can change it into "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" in your Project Settings.
But this is in the wrong place in my opinion. Why not in "Edit/Preferences"? I could've changed it by myself but I did not find the menu.
Thanks Michaela from the Adobe Support Chat!

  • I am trying to screen capture a simulation session in captivate 6 and then edit it in premiere pro cc 2014 when I import the video into premiere, it is blurry

Caveat - I am relatively new to adobe captivate and premiere, so hopefully this is a simple setting issue that I have not been able to figure out.  When I do a video capture in captivate 6 the output mp4 is very clear.  If I play it in windows media player it is crisp and clear.  If I import that same mp4 into Premiere Pro CC 2014, it is very blurry.  My simulation has gauges and dials that need to be clear and I need to "mix" audio, narration, and system sounds into this video.  Any help would be extremely appreciated!

OK - back to my caveat.  When I select preferences in Premiere and look at the playback setting, I get options for Preroll, Postroll, Step forward/back many, mercury transmit, Audio device, Adobe DV and disable video output when in backgroud (all of which I am not smart enough to comprehend).
I apologize for my ignorance. So as I continued to read your question, I, of course googled "how to set playback resolution in premiere pro" and I learned how to do that....  They were set to 1/2.  I adjusted to full and it seems to be clear now....  I think you just helped me, help myself.  Thank you!  Did I get it right?  Is there any more you can recommend when it comes to taking a screen capture video and making it into an awesome demo?
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,
    Troy

  • Premiere Pro CC - How can I export custom metadata into Excel?

I'm trying to export custom metadata from Premiere CC into Excel. I can create the custom metadata and I've been using the following workflow to get it to excel:
    File: Export: Batch List
This exports a .csv file but the only metadata I can produce is a fraction of metadata from the 'Premiere Pro Project Metadata' schema. Has anyone figured this out?
    Many thanks,

I'm not familiar with Batch List exports, and I don't know of a way to export metadata as a CSV or other file adapted to Excel. The way I know to export metadata is as follows
Select clip in PPro's Project panel
    File>Export>Media
in the Export Settings dialog, click the Media button
in the Metadata Export dialog, set Export Option to Create Sidecar Fiie.
In the Output File Metadata section, select the properties in your custom schema that you want to include (and deselect any others that you don't want)
Click Okay to close Metadata Export and proceed to encode.
If you change the extension from .xmp to .xml, you'll be able to open the file in any text editor--including Excel, but not in a tabular view.
