Preventing iTouch screen from turning off during enhanced audio book play

I have created an enhanced audio book (.m4a format) using GarageBand. When playing this file back on an iTouch the screen automatically turns off approximately every minute. Touching the screen will turn it back on, but I would prefer that the user not have to repeatedly touch the screen during playback.
Is there a setting of ID tag that I need to change to prevent the iTouch screen from automatically turning off?

Thanks for the suggestion. I had my iTouch autolock set to 1 minute, which appears to be what was causing the problem. Changing it to "never" has resolved the issue.
Thanks!

  • Screen often turns off during calls - Unable to turn back on

    Hello,
    Often times during calls my screen will turn off - it does not respond to pushing the home button and will only turn back on if I press the sleep button repeatedly 6 or 7 times. Is there a fix for this? Does apple know about this bug?

    Following an older post I have done the following:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button
    This worked for me.  I hope this helps and thank you to Texas Mac Man who I got this info from. :-)

  • During phone calls the screen doent turn off, during phone calls the screen doesn't turn off

    The phone screen doesnt turn off when i put it on my ear to make a phonecall

    This may very well be an issue with the proximity sensor. Take it to an Apple Store; they'll be able to let you know for sure. But first, to rule out a software issue, try a reset: Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears.

  • Is there a way to keep the screen from turning off

    I would like a way to keep my screen from going to sleep while browsing. Sometimes I am still reading the current screen when it dims out. The browser I am hoping to replace with Firefox has this option. Is there a way (option or addon) to do this?

    Not possible from within Firefox. You can check to see if your device has a 'Never' option for screen timeout under 'Display' settings in Android settings. I suspect not available though as that would be a hindrance towards battery lifetime.

  • Screen not turning off during call

    When I am holding the phone up to my ear, the screen goes black, but if I move it away just a little bit the screen lights back up. So during calls I am hitting keys on the touchpad, placing the call on hold, muting calls, etc.
    This was not a problem on my 3g. Is there a way to fix this?

    This is a proximity sensor known issue, will be addressed by apple in the next update (4.1), they still in the beta3 testing:

    1- When not active the screen will not shut off unless I do it manually 2. In both iPod and youtube it will not play music, If I hit the play button it plays for a second then goes back on pause. I have restarted and even reset. After the reset it worked for a little bit then went back to doing the same thing.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi guys,
    I finally updated from Gnome 2 to 3 and wonder how I can prevent my screen to turn off after a while. From Gnome 2 I was used to be able to set 'never' besides settings like '1 minute', '10 minutes'...
    Is there any way to apply that to Gnome 3?

    Well, some systems [like mine] of some people [like me] don't have "xorg.conf cause don't need that file at all.
    You should try another recipe:
    From your terminal you can execute two simple commands:
    xset s off # Disable X windows screen saver
    xset -dpms # Disable display power management system
    (From here: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthrea … 528&page=2)
    Really works. Just add this to your ~/.bash_profile.

  • Screen not turning off

    why is my screen not turning off during a conversation - when I put it to my ear the screen does not turn off and I touch the hold and all the other buttons while talking. I tried switching it off and restarting it .
    thx

    Try a reset, hold home button and sleep/wake button down together until phone shuts off.  Release the buttons when this happens and the phone should come back on.  Give it minute to turn on completely and then do a test call to see if it is still happening.  May need to do a restore but definitely back up the device before doing that.

  • iPhone Preventing iPhone from powering off during an app...

    Hello all,
    Back with you for yet another question...
    Anybody knows how to prevent the iPhone from powering off if no input while an app is running ?
    I'm thinking of building an app that would launch an alarm when motion is detected, but the app would need to be run without the iPhone powering off...
    Thanks for any ideas, I haven't found anything yet, but I know it's possible as many "official" apps support this...
    Thanks.
    Serge

    Ok, we're talking about the same thing. It's called "system sleep" in the docs, and the user setting under Settings->General is called "Auto-Lock" in English. This is how to turn Auto-Lock off for your application:
    [UIApplication sharedApplication].idleTimerDisabled = YES;
    Here is the precaution from the UIApplication reference:
    Important: You should set this property only if necessary and should be sure to reset it to NO when
    the need no longer exists. Most applications should let the system turn off the screen when the idle
    timer elapses. This includes audio applications. With appropriate use of Audio Session Services,
    playback and recording proceed uninterrupted when the screen turns off. The only applications that
    should disable the idle timer are mapping applications, games, or similar programs with sporadic
    user interaction.

  • Iphone turned off during factory reset

    Apologies if this has been raised a million times before, i have tried to search for an answer..
    As the title says my phone turned off during a factory reset as the battery was obviously low. probably happened 1-2 minutes into it actually.
    Now it wont get past the apple logo screen. I have tried to reset the phone using the home + power key but nothing happens. it turns off then when i turn it back on it goes back to the apple logo screen, then will turn off.
    Ive plugged the phone into my laptop and that wont read it either.
    I hope i havent ruined the phone by it turning off during factory resetting ? Can anyone suggest anything to fix this problem ?
    thanks

    See if you force the phone into recovery mode:
    Turn off your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone to turn off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. After restoring from backup, you must sync to restore your iTunes content.

  • [SOLVED] USB Harddrive via fstab turned off during Boot - Error

    Hello^^
    I'm trying to mount my external USB Drive.
    I put the following line in fstab:
    /dev/sdb1 /media/Musik ext4 noauto,user,default 0 1
    I only want to start the Harddive occasionally.
    The problem is, when the drive is completly turned off during boot I get the following error:
    No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/sdb1
    Possibly non existend device?
    I thought that the noauto Option should prevent fstab from mounting the hdd???
    regards

    PS: Manual mounting works without any problems...

    Let me give you a hand then. The following I have in my /etc/udev/rules.d/11-media-by-label-auto-mount.rules, and what it does is:
    -- pick the name of a drive,
    -- create a dedicated /media/mountpoint name (certainly, "mountpoint" is replaced by the name of your drive),
    -- mount the drive on boot,
    -- unmount the drive on shutdown and delete the /media/mountpoint.
    KERNEL!="sd[a-z][0-9]", GOTO="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
    # Import FS infos
    IMPORT{program}="/sbin/blkid -o udev -p %N"
    # Get a label if present, otherwise specify one
    ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}!="", ENV{dir_name}="%E{ID_FS_LABEL}"
    ENV{ID_FS_LABEL}=="", ENV{dir_name}="usbhd-%k"
    # Global mount options
    ACTION=="add", ENV{mount_options}="relatime"
    # Filesystem-specific mount options
    ACTION=="add", ENV{ID_FS_TYPE}=="vfat|ntfs", ENV{mount_options}="$env{mount_options},utf8,gid=100,umask=002"
    # Mount the device
    ACTION=="add", RUN+="/bin/mkdir -p /media/%E{dir_name}", RUN+="/bin/mount -o $env{mount_options} /dev/%k /media/%E{dir_name}"
    # Clean up after removal
    ACTION=="remove", ENV{dir_name}!="", RUN+="/bin/umount -l /media/%E{dir_name}", RUN+="/bin/rmdir /media/%E{dir_name}"
    # Exit
    LABEL="media_by_label_auto_mount_end"
    Plenty of handy examples you can find in /lib/udev/rules.d/ and modify them so they meet you needs. I hope it clarifies the matter a bit.

  • Screen randomly turns off or dims

    I have an iBook G4, and every now and again the screen randomly turns off. It doesn't respond to pressing and holding the power button, the only way I can turn it back on is by both taking out the battery and unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, putting the battery back in and restarting it. If I put the power lead in before restarting then the display switches off almost instantly during boot up.
    Other times the screen randomly dims really dark so that you can only just see outlines, in this situation it responds to pressing the power button and then enter to shut it down, and then after booting it back up it's fine ...until the next time.
    The problems happen as often as every five minutes on some days and then not at all on others. Both occur when using the battery AND power lead, often (but not always) when the power cord is moved. Also I can get my power cord to flicker between green and orange if I wiggle it - not a good idea I know, I don't do it regularly
    I've tried resetting the PMU with no success. Also I've tried swapping my battery and power lead with a friend, they had no problems using mine (and couldn't replicate the green-orange flickering), and I still had problems using theirs.
    I read someone else's topic with suggested that the problem could be deficient soldering on the DC-In Board, so I've had a look. I'm no expert but the soldering looks ok to me, except one of the 3 metal legs connecting the actual socket bit to the board (the one which would be at the bottom under the yellow tape in http://www.macrecycling.com/images/products/922-6254.gif ) is looking a bit black and has discoloured the yellow tape black immediately on top of it. Looking at the circuit board though, this leg doesn't seem to connect to anything!
    I've read numerous topics regarding similar situations and popular diagnosis include problems with:
    * battery/power lead (I'm pretty confident it's not this)
    * DC-In Board
    * GPU
    * Inverter cable
    * Inverter
    * Backlight
    From the information I've given does anyone know what is most likely the cause?
    I'm a poor student, my iBook's well past it's warranty, and I hear repairs start in the £100 region (also I've rumours the apple stores have stopped taking in iBooks for repairs now). So home repair is pretty much my only option at the moment, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    I had the same trouble, but today my iBook died after draining the battery. It just drained it and it did not charged the batt while connected, also the iBook makes a small buzz sound while connected (and it does not do so while powered by the batt).
    I researched and found that it is the DC board's fault, because it failed at charging while working fine on pure battery power.
    i confirmed because powering up always worked perfectly while on battery power, (just as in your case).
    The blackness you describe is possibly a short circuit, and you should look into it as quick as possible, before you get to a situation like mine.

  • When the screen saver turns off my front panel does not refresh.

    when the screen saver turns off my front panel does not refresh. If I use the show desktop button sometimes I can not maximize my vi by just clicking on it from the start bar.

    I utilize both a screen saver and the show desktop feature but have never seen this problem in the past. You might play around with your screen saver settings to see if they have any affect. You might also try another computer just to make sure something larger scale isn't going on. Also, testing with other programs to make sure it isn't a general OS issue is always a good idea. Other possibilities include changing your Video Driver settings, updating your video driver, and uninstalling - reinstalling.

    iPhone5, the screen is damaged, never synced to iTunes, locked screen, cannot turn off the device...

    No. I would never take an iPhone to anyone other than Apple unless there was no alternative. You can get the display replaced on an iPhone 5 at most Apple stores for $149. If there's more damage, it will cost $229 for a full replacement. Both prices assuming you don't have AppleCare+.
    As I said, taking it elsewhere forfeits your ability to ever get it serviced by Apple. Apple does not sell iPhone parts. There are no legitimate sources for iPhone parts. All the parts you will find are either salvaged from damaged phones or counterfeit.
    If the phone is at all functional, you may be able to plug it into a computer and extract the photos and videos from the camera roll.
