Preventing Page Edit access

I'm looking for information that explains how portal access control works in Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4).
The situation I have at the moment is that I've created a page with one user QAManager and set its Access with the following settings:
* Display to public users is unchecked
* Enable Item Level security is unchecked
QAManager user has 'Manage' privilege
Authenticated Users group has 'View' privilege
I've clicked the 'clear cache' link at the bottom of the page as well.
No matter who I log on as (QAManager, Portal, Demo) I can still edit the page even though I thought that only QAManager would have edit access. This seems counter intuitive - is there some other cache I should be clearing, or have my users got some 'superuser' setting on them that overrides the page access control? What am I missing here? Any help appreciated.

Ok - with a bit of trial an error I've answered my own question. It appears Users in the Demo Portal Administrator's group have the ability to edit the content created by other users even when they haven't been granted access to edit that content (not sure what this has to do with administering portal but now that I know it I can live with it).

    Hi,
I have just checked at my end and it seems everything is working fine and I am able to edit even the English version pages.
Can you please try some other browser or in a different system to edit your site and check if you are able to do so.

  • Restrict read/edit access for a Manager, when Manager Visibility is enabled

Customer wants to restrict read/edit access for a Manager on his/her subordinates' owned record, if manager Visibility is enabled at the company level.
For example: If SM1 is a manager of SR1 and SM1 owner profile says that he has Edit Access on his owned records then, he will get Edit Access
on the records owned by his sales rep.
Current requirement here is Manager should not be able to edit the records of his sales rep but should able to only View. And manager also
need the Edit/Read access on the records which they owned.
Is there a possible workaround ?

I have devised this to our customer:
First, create a custom text field named "Reports To" on the object, say, Accounts.
Second, user JoinFieldValue to set a default value for the "Reports To" field: equal to the "Reports To" User field value for the current owner.
Third, add a new value named "Manager Read-Only" to 'Account Type' picklist. make sure that this picklist value is active.
Fourthly, add a new page layout marking all Account Fields as 'read-only' and name it "Account Read-Only layout".
Fifthly, create a new Account Dynamic Layout and set "Account Read-Only layout"
for Field Type = "Manager Read-Only".
Sixthly, create a new workflow rule condition for Account object ( before modified record saved ). Use the workflow rule condition similar to UserValue('<Alias>') = [<ReportsTo>] and set the workflow action to update 'Account Type' picklist value to
    "Manager Read-Only".
This is just an example. Customer needs to improvise on this.
    Any more suggestions please ?

  • How do I make Date & Time image on webpage update when page is accessed?

I added a date function to my webpage; but it does not update each time the page is accessed. When I open iWeb to work on pages, the date IS updated; but not when accessed on the internet. Any help will be appreciated!
IMac Power PC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

So all you want is the current date and time to be displayed on your webpage for viewers to see? Well then, one of those scripts should do the trick for sure.
In terms of adding the javascript to your pages and having it show up in a particular location, it will involve some post-publishing editing of the HTML file for your Main page. And then everytime you change this Main page, you will have to redo your editing. It's not that big of a deal, but I just wanted to let you know.
To add the javascript code to you pages, you will follow the usual procedure for adding external HTML to iWeb published pages...
The general directions are as follows...
    1. Decide where you want your clock/calendar and know exactly what dimensions you need to display the whole thing.
    2. Insert a text box onto your page and adjust its size to exactly your dimensions.
    3. Type in some uniquely identifiable text like, "CALENDARCODE" without changing the font or anything else...just type it in.
    4. Publish your page with iWeb.
    5. Find the html file associated with your published page (either on your iDisk or in a folder depending on how you published) and open it in any text editor (like Microsoft Word, or Textedit, or anything that can display plain text).
    6. Scroll through the html file and locate your placeholder text, e.g. "CALENDARCODE".
    7. Replace the placeholder text with your javascript/html code and publish your page.
That's it. You should see your Date and Time show up where you placed the text box. You might have to go back and edit the size of the text box to make it fit the Date and Time just right, but just follow the steps over.

  • Incorrect functionality  in edit access level

We are assigning the Instructor credential with the Edit Access Level permissions. However when an Instructor authenticates, they do not have the EDIT ACCESS permission in their course.
In the iTunes U admin guide, it state:
Users with Edit access to a Course page can also use the Access pop-up menu in the Access area within a Course page to define group-level access for the page. The user can assign group-level access for other users of the Course page, but cannot change his or her own access. iTunes U displays the current user’s credential and Edit access as read-only in the Access pop-up menu
    within the Course page.
    Any ideas?

I haven't looked at the admin documentation but having Edit permissions on the album doesn't let you have the Edit Access option. What we do for instructors is create the course album for them and set Group Access Labels, as described, up for them for each other credential that has access (student credentials only in our case but I suppose you could do it for instructors, TAs, etc.). Folks with Edit level access to the album (Instructors in this case) can then Edit Page, edit the tabs and use the GALs to change permissions for other users to the tabs in the album.

  • Field-level Edit Access

    Hello everyone,
I have 4 questions, all pertaining to what you can do with a field in APEX:
First, how to enable field-level Edit access in APEX? I understand I can apply authorization scheme on each page. So when a user has only View access, he/she can't edit the page. This is nice but what if out of a page, I want only one field being editable by an Administrator and not by the other groups, how do I do this?
Second, if I want an Administrator to be able to add a row to a pop-up LOV and he's a mere administrative user of the system and not the APEX administator, how best it is to do this?
Third, when a user logs in, how to ensure his login name and perhaps today's date already appear in a field?
Finally, when a field is filled in, how to disable that field from future modification by shading it for example?
Thanks for enlightening me on this.
    Best regards,
    Daniel

Sagar has the point. You should check the OES and OAM certification for all versions you want to use. AFAIK OAM 11g and OES 10.3.4 run on WLS 10.3.3 only.

Recently downloaded Guitar Tuner app, didn't like it..deleted app..everytime I open apps icon it's banner is still there preventing me from accessing any other apps..how do I clear it away completely? Has anyone else had this experience..any help in clearing this hiddering problem would very much appreciated

I spotted this sollution from another user in relation to a similar problem:
Quit the app then reset the iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
this work a treat..thanks to whoever it waas who originally posted this!

  • After userA check out a page, edit the page and save, Sharepoint prompt userA have checked out the page

In one of site collection at our SP2013 farm, we have "SharePoint Server Publishing" site feature and "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" site collection feature activated.
One of user (UserA) create a page in a page library. The new page is marked as "checked out by UserA". It is fine.
Then UserA open the page -> edit page -> key in something and "save". Then the page prompt him "The file Pages/subfolder/test001.aspx has been modified by i:0#.w|test\userA on 8Aug2014 xx:xx:xx" and ask him to choose "Leave
this page" or "say at this page".  The date time is exactly the time he was editing the page.
Whatever he choose will save the page and return to "View" mode (non-edit mode).
It is not the only problem. When userA want to edit the same page again and save, it prompt him that "The page could not be saved because your changes conflict with recent changes made by another user. If you continue, your changes will be lost."!
When userA choose continue or "check out". Follow screen show up:
What can we do? In summary, userA cannot edit a page because userA have checked out! We have tried for different users have exactly same issue.

We are having the same problem, the one thing we have found is if we use the Save Icon on the top right hand side of the page in the ribbon (next to follow), that Save works just fine.  What is causing the issue is when trying to use the Save Icon on
the left hand side of the ribbon that has the dropdown options to 'Save', 'Save and Keep Editing' or 'Stop Editing'.  It doesn't matter if you just click on the main Icon or choose any of the dropdown options, they all cause issues with the pages.
    Thoughts?

I need help in resolving a problem that prevents me from accessing the iTunes store.  Message reads " iTunes cannot contact the iTunes store" and also says that my laptop is no longer authorized to access my account.  Help!

Go up to the top of your screen on iTunes and click on 'Store'.  Then go down to 'Authorize This Computer'.  That should cover part of it unless you've already authorized a bunch of other computers to use your account.  If that's the case, you'll have to go to one of those computers and click the button just below it to 'deauthorize your account' from that computer.  If you're not able to access the store, check your internet connection to make sure you are connected.  Hope this helps.. good luck!

  • How to prevent page turn in margin tap on a fixed layout ePub ?

I have created a fixed layout ePub for Apple iPad with some on-touch animations on tap. It works fine except the pictures which are in extreme margins (left and right). On touch it activates page-turn rather than the required animation. Is there any way to prevent page turn? Please help.

event.preventDefault() should do the trick on your own controls. If you are using one of the built-in iBooks shortcuts (read-aloud start/stop button comes to mind) then you may not have full control.

  • Slow performance pages when accessing for first time

    Hi Oracle developers,
Hope this is the right place to ask my question regarding Fusion Applications performance.
I'm dealing with a hard issue in our Fusion Applications 11.1.7 'test' environment for educational purposes. The thing is that whenever a page is accessed the first time (after a restart) it takes a very long time for the page to appear on the screen.
When it has been accessed before the page is rendered almost instantly. I suspect this has to with caching/compilation of the pages.
I already looked at article (Doc ID 1518515.1) and the settings were already set as is described in the solution part of the note.
    My question:
Is there a fix for this?
Is there a way to precompile all Fusion Applications JSP pages after a restart.
Hope you can help me out with this!
    Kind regards,
    Charif

    Hi Charif,
we are looking into ways to speed this up, but at the moment there is nothing you can do to avoid this delay.  I know this sounds vague, but I cannot discuss future potential features here.

  • Enterprise Wiki copy bug in "Pages" edit mode

All functions cease working when I am in the "Pages" edit mode.
    My Steps:
    1. In Enterprise Wiki (SharePoint 2013) I click on "edit this page"
    2. Click on View Properties
    3. While in the View mode click on Edit
    4. Click in the Contact field to copy contact and the icon next to the name becomes attached to the cursor and a big black circle with the forward slash mark in it appears.
    5. No matter what I do the small green box has attached itself to my cursor like a throwback '90s mouse sprite. It follows the cursor everywhere on the screen.

Can you recreate the page and copy the content to new page and see if its working.. I can't think of anything else for now..

  • Impossible to enable master page editing

    Hello everyone,
I'm in trouble because I have to create a custom Sharepoint 2010 Foundation template and i can't modify the master page of the team site. Now you will tell me to go to Site Collection Administration, then to Sharepoint Designer Settings and enable Sharepoint
Designer and Enable Customizing Master Pages and Page Layouts. Well...I have already done that. I have Full Control everywhere in the site collection and I am a domain admin, nevertheless if I turn on Sharepoint 2010 Designer it does not show Master Pages
in the Site Objects panel, neither can I click on Customize Master Page - it says that master page editing has been disabled. Any suggestions, because I am out of such... Thanks

Is there any other place where I can enable customizing the master pages, except for Site Collection Administration? Because this is the only place I know. And it does nothing. I have restarted the whole machine, not just IIS.
Yes there is.  Look within Central Administration --> General Application Settings --> Configure SharePoint Designer Settings.  Here, on a (web) application level you can configure: -
    Whether SPD can be used
Whether SC Admins can detach paghes (unghost) pages from the site template
Whether SC Admins can customise page layouts and master pages
Whether SC Admins can view the URL structure of thier site

  • Handling page level access to users for sub-pages

    Hi,
In my webcenter portal application, in navigation , I have mainpage1 and 3 sub-pages under it: subpage1,subpage2 and subpage3. We have a requirement that users with role manager should have access to all sub-pages under mainpage1 and users with role employee should have access to only subpage3.
All these 3 pages are created in Jdeveloper (not at runtime) and have static region for different taskflow on each page. All 3 taskflows have access permission to all authenticated users.
Using WebCenter Portal Administration Console, Resources tab I am setting access levels for user groups with Delegate Security as follows:
mainpage1 -- manager and employee both have view
subpage1 - only manager have view
subpage2 - only manager have view
subpage3 - manager and employee both have view
When I am logging as user with manager role , I am able to see all three pages, but when I am logging as employee the link mainpage1 and all other subpages are hidden.
I am able to set different access permissions for different groups at mainpages but facing issue for sub pages.
Please help me if I am missing anything for setting page level access.
    Thanks and Regards,
