Preview of downloaded images.

Question

Is there a way to make all images either downloaded or exported from iPhoto have a preview of what the pic is? I currently have to open the image with Photoshop and re-save in order to get a preview. Thanks.

Personally I use an AppleScript that I keep in my Scripts menu, but you can save it as an application and put it wherever you want.
1. Launch ScriptEditor
2. Paste the following into the ScriptEditor window:
property type_list : {"JPEG", "TIFF", "PNGf", "8BPS"}
-- since file types are optional in Mac OS X,
-- check the name extension if there is no file type
-- NOTE: do not use periods (.) with the items in the name extensions list
-- eg: {"txt", "text", "jpg", "jpeg"}, NOT: {".txt", ".text", ".jpg", ".jpeg"}
property extension_list : {"jpg", "jpeg", "tif", "tiff", "png", "psd"}
on run
set this_file to choose file
try
tell application "Image Events"
launch
set this_image to open this_file
save this_image with icon
close this_image
end tell
end try
end run
3. Click the Compile button
4. Save as an application
You could probably make it part of an Automator action, or make it into a droplet or a folder action script (you would attach it to a folder so that it ran when a file is dropped in the folder). Ask in either the Automator or Applescript forums for help if you want to do something along those lines.
