Print-related task error

How do I fix this error:
  Before you can print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer.
I have already have a printer on my computer.  I've deleted all drivers and reinsttalled the printer and still gets this error.  I've also, reinstalled Adobe Reader 10.1.4.
Any help will be welcomed.

I would install version 11.0.2 but, there is another person on Adobe that posted that they are having issues with printing Adobe 11.0.2.  So, I think I'll try to install 10.1.6.  I wonder if there is a issue with Windows 7 and Adobe version 10 and 11.

  • Adobe acrobat 8.1 "before you can perform print-related tasks" Error

    Running a Windows XP64 computer that can no longer print PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat. I've been looking over forums for an answer and so far no solutions have been found.
    We have tried setting a new default printer
    Removing all printers and reinstalling them
    Uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Acrobat
    Currently we have installed Adobe Reader 10 to restore the ability to print PDF documents. However this is just a patch job. I need to be able to restore Acrobat's printing capabilities. If anyone else has a suggestion please let me know.
    Thanks

    Tony,
    Adobe never supported Windows XP 64. Mostly because of driver issues like the one you are experiencing. BTW, Adobe not only does not support Acrobat under Windows XP 64, it doesn't support Reader and Acrobat together on any computer system except for Acrobat X and Reader X. The other combinations can cause many issues.

    Info:
    - version: 10.1.3
    - Default printer: Epson SX110 Series
    - Document: Security properties: Printing allowed - all other security properties: not allowed
    - Same document without security, does print without any problems.

    Hi,
    My printer is correctly installed. I can print other pdf documents without any problem (even the same document if the security settings are not set).

  • Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup - Internet Explorer 8

    I understand there have been similar threads on this but they all related to printing directly out of Acrobat reader rather than a browser.
    On some machines when printing a PDF from within Internet Explorer the error "before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup" is displayed and users are unable to print. I have removed printers, changed the default printer none of which have worked. If you change Acrobat reader to not display PDFs in Internet Explorer printing works fine.
    System Information
    Windows 7 Enterprise
    Acrobat Reader 9.3.0
    Internet Explorer 8
    Any information regarding this would be appreciated.
    Cheers

    This works in Photoshop cs4: SOLUTION!!! I get the same msg... "before you can perform..." etc. on some images that I've printed before but not on others. I haven't found the cause, but here's an easy WORKAROUND: Open your file, Select All, Copy, File>new, paste... and print away!!!

  • Can't print: "Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document,

    Hello,
    I have searched these forums but have not found a solution to my problem.
    I recently purchased an IOGear USB Print Server (print server only, not USB device server). I was having issues installing and followed a Microsoft support document to try and resolve the issue. It had me remove some entries from the registry.
    Hours later, I was able to get the printer installed and working, but I do not know if it was a result of the registry tweak. But now that it has been installed, I cannot get anything to print from Acrobat Reader (I have tried 7.0 and 8.1.1). I get the following error message:
    "Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer."
    Is there something I should check in the registry to make sure that it will work? I do know for sure that it was working when it was just the printer and drivers installed, it only happened after running the print server setup. I have already tried removing the printers and drivers from the system.
    Thanks,
    Braden

    I have a problem similar to those posted here, with one difference. With my printers newly installed, regardless of which one is selected as the default, when I try to print from Adobe Reader I receive the error message we're talking about : "Before you can perform a print related task...."
    Here's the fun part.
    If I click OK on the message, ALL MY PRINTERS GET DELETED and, I get the windows message that "Spooler subsystem app has encountered a problem and needs to close"! If instead of clicking OK I switch to Task Manager and end Adobe, I'm fine and can print from other programs.
    I can "reset" the problem by deleting the files in C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers and C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86, restarting the machine, and deleting then reinstalling the printers (which show up again after the restart).
    BUT, if I try to print from Adobe Reader again, I get the same cycle of problems.
    I am running Windows Vista and Adobe Reader 8.1

  • Photoshop CS4 - Windows XP Pro - Message reads: 'Before you can perform printer related tasks .... you need to install printer.

    All of a sudden, my CS4 Photoshop will not print. It gives me the message "Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer." What has happened? I cannot get into any of the print or page setup menus to change preferences so where do I go from here?

    I just updated my Canon MG3500 series printer driver through Canon support. Printer worked fine, but I could not print from Photoshop.
    I followed all the links and the instructions on the Adobe help site, but could not go past the "Print" box in my Photoshop CS4, so none of the other information could be applied.
    I could open images in Adobe Illustrator, and print from that program, but 99% of my image work is in Photoshop.
    I found a link at http://yourbusiness.azcentral.com/printer-not-found-photoshop-cs4-11574.html
    That information advised to locate the Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file and rename it to Prefs.psp.old, because when you recreate your preferences file, PhotoShop deletes the custom settings associated with the file.
    It threw up a warning when I changed the name, but I figured I could always change it back. After shutting down the computer and printer, restarting both and opening Photoshop CS4 I was able to open the print dialog box and print photos again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photoshop CS4: Before you can perform printer-related tasks ...

    Scenario: I open two JPG files. Select one, and print it. Select the second, and get the message "Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer". Go back to the first, the print is fine.
    It seems to be only with some files, size does not matter. These are JPGs, so what can be wrong?
    This KB is no help, so any other ideas?

    [Note that I was logged in under an obscure account when I started this thread]
    Tried changing the default printer, same problem.
    [LATER] SOLVED! It seems the problem is that the resolution and size of the image combine to create an image that would not fit in the printer, so Photoshop ask you to intall one that can print it. This is really dumb, as you can resize the printout. See this thread.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro just started asking the following "Before you can perform print-related tasks... you need to install a printer?"

    The printer is installed and works perfectly, even when using other Adobe products like Photoshop. I have to open the PDF in Photoshop just to print it. What is wrong with Acrobat Pro, and why is it acting up without any changes to my system, printer, software, etc? This problem began about a week ago, after YEARS of using Acrobat without any issues.

  • "Before you can perform print-related tasks...,you need to install a printer"

    I have Windows XP SP3.  I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.  I've never had a problem printing a pdf file before.  My printer is a year old and all other applications print without problems.  Suddenly, I am unable to print pdf's.  Any suggestions?

    Please  verify  if you're Acrobat 9  is updated to  9.4.2 by  checking the version at  Help > About Acrobat  9 Pro
    If  it  is Acrobat 9.4.2 then  do  the the  following....
    the fast and easy way:
    1.) go to the installation directory of Acrobat (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat)
    2.) Look for the file "Adobe.Acrobat.Dependencies.manifest"; do  a right click (open with)  then  select from the list  of programs -  choose Wordpad;
    3.) Delete the line <file name="atl.dll" /> then  click  on the Save button
    4.) Reboot your machine after saving that file
    This should fix the issue of being unable to print PDF file after installing 9.4.2 update for Adobe Acrobat.

  • The only working print-related function in BioBench1.2 on my PC is the "Print Report", all the other "Print" functions gave me "Error, the printer is not set up correctly".

    I used to print all my BioBench data by first exporting them to Excel and then print from there. Recently I need to print some of the screen shots and some data directly from array analysis, but when I click on the "print" buttons, the "Error, the printer is not set up correctly" message occurs. The only thing I can print from BB without this error is the report printing function. I have a postcript printer and I have set the postscript option to be "true"... Thanks !

    This problem is a result of a limitation in Windows 9x regarding the size of an image that you can send to the printer. The problem does not occur on Windows 2000/NT. This problem appeared with the increased color options of LabVIEW 6.0 on which the BB1.2 is based.Although it is not immediately obvious, your video driver and settings play a role in printing.
    1. Try adjusting the color palette your driver uses (i.e., 256 color, high olor, true color). The error may occur only in one of these modes. Also, change the resolution (number of pixels) to represent the Screen Area; e.g., change from a 1024 x 768 display to an 800 x 600 pixel display.
    2.Certain video drivers also support "acceleration" modes. Using a non-accelerated mode often eliminates the error. For
    Windows 95/98, right-click on your My Computer icon and select "Properties" from the pop-up
    menu. On the Performance tab, click the Graphics button and change the Hardware Acceleration (e.g., if it is set to "Full", lower the setting a notch or two); for Windows 2000/NT, right-click on your Desktop and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu. On the Settings tab, click the Advanced button and go to
    Troubleshooting.
    3.In Windows, the standard VGA driver provided by the operating system is very stable. Try using this driver in place of the specific one written for your video hardware. If the error is eliminated, there is likely a problem with your vendor-provided video driver.
    4.These errors are most often fixed with the latest
    video/printer driver. Be sure to contact your hardware manufacturer and install the latest driver. An easy way to determine if your error is "driver-related" is to move your code to another machine (and hopefully a different set of drivers) and see if th
    e error persists. If the problem is printer related, try another printer.
    5.Make sure there are at least 100M avalible space in your C: drive. If not, set the virtual memory to the other drive which has larger available space.

  • Print Individual task Lists from Project 2010

    Hi
    I have a routine which prints individual task lists from a Project Plan using VBA.  This routine is currently being piloted and they have advised that not all resources have a task list produced.  when I step through the code the Resource numbers
    appears in this order:
    1,3,18,7,8,9,11,12,13,14,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25
    Task lists are produced for each of the above resources.  However this misses resource numbers 2,4,5,6,10,15,16,17 and I have no idea why.  I have supplied my code below.  Any advice/guidance appreciated.  You will note that the task
    lists are exported to a pre-defined spreadsheet template.
    Sub PrintResourceCharts()
    Dim xlApp As Excel.Application
    Dim xlRange As Excel.Range
    Dim rName As String
    Dim Tsk As Task
    Dim Res As Resource

    'Remove Existing Task List files from directory before creating new ones
    On Error GoTo Finish
    Kill "D:\Task List Templates\Task Lists\*.*"
    Finish:
    'Save File Location
    fName = "D:\Task List Templates\Task Lists\"
    'Start Excel and Create a new Workbook
    Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
    xlApp.Visible = True
    'Export Resource and Task details
    For Each Res In ActiveProject.Resources
    If Res.Assignments.Count > 0 Then
    Row = 5
    xlApp.Workbooks.Open ("D:\Task List Templates\Task List Template.xlsm")
    BookNam = xlApp.ActiveWorkbook.Name
    Set s = xlApp.Workbooks(BookNam).Worksheets(1)
    For Each Ass In Res.Assignments
    Set xlRange = s.Range("A5")
    If Ass.PercentWorkComplete < 100 Then
    With xlRange
    rName = Ass.ResourceName
    s.Range("A" & Row).Value = Ass.ResourceName
    s.Range("B" & Row).Value = Ass.TaskUniqueID
    s.Range("D" & Row).Value = Ass.Text1
    s.Range("E" & Row).Value = Ass.Start
    s.Range("G" & Row).Value = Ass.Finish
    End With
    End If
    Row = Row + 1
    Set xlRange = xlRange.Offset(Row, 0) 'Point to next row
    Next
    xlApp.Visible = True
    Application.DisplayAlerts = False
    If rName = "" Then
    GoTo Finished
    End If
    xlApp.ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs FileName:= _
    "D:\Task List Templates\Task Lists\" & rName & ".xlsm", FileFormat:= _
    xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled, CreateBackup:=False
    rName = ""
    xlApp.ActiveWorkbook.Close savechanges:=False
    Application.DisplayAlerts = True
    End If
    Next
    Finished:
    xlApp.Application.Quit
    Set xlApp = Nothing
    MsgBox ("Individual Task Lists have now been produced....")
    End Sub

    Tony,
    You said you step through the code and it picks up resource 1. What happens when the loop gets to resource 2? Note: since resource 1 may have several assignments and stepping through them all could take some time, I sometimes use a stop statement in the
    outer loop to make it a little easier to "catch" what I'm looking for. For example, you could put this right after the For Each Res...
    If Res.ID = 2 then stop
    Then step through and see what happens.

  • I have a PIXMA MG8120 Printer with the error message 6A81.

    I have a PIXMA MG8120 Printer with the error message 6A81.  I have turned off the power many times as well as unplugging the power source for a full day. There are no obstructions. What do you suggest?

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.

  • Evolution slow network related tasks

    Hello,
    for some reason, evolution is very slow for me. I'm not talking about GUI sluggishness (opening windows and mails, etc.) but about network related tasks:
    1. Receiving and sending mails takes a long time, sometimes gets time-out
    2. Moving them in folders also. (especially between servers)
    3. Most of the time, the 'taskbar' (evolution's current activity) is full of tasks like: 'Scanning ...' 'Fetching ...' 'Refreshing ...' 'Retrieving folder list ...' 'Retrieving quota information ...'
    4. Usually, after time, it notifies me about some failed pings.
    Evolution version: 3.10.4
    I'm using IMAP and SMTP (IMAP+, but I'm not sure what exactly that is).
    Multiple accounts on different servers (including gmail). Outside evolution, my network connection speed much better.
    Quite often, evolution crashes with segfault. (tasks like: updating account settings, moving mails into different folder).
    I use MATE.
    On an unrelated note: it asks me to unlock my keyring once for every account.
    Thanks for any help.

    Not really, I have nothing to do with Exchange.
    I'm using thunderbird at the moment, but I find it somewhat chaotic and disorganized.
    The only usable thing that comes from evolution's shell output are few Gtk error and missing Bogofilter, to be specific
