PrintBrm Error 0x80070490

We have
two identical, virtual
server windows 2012r2.
Both servers have the role of
managing printing.
I do export printers using
utility PrintBrm.
The first time,
on the second server,
when I do the import, the printer
drivers are installed properly.
Now when I do
the import, there is an error
in restoring the driver.
If you do a restore from a backup
virtual server, then
import the very beginning
there are no errors, you can do
several times in a row.
But after 30-40 minutes
there is a mistake
again. What could be the
reason?
C:\Windows\System32\spool\tools>PrintBrm.exe -r -f x:\Print.PrinterExport -o for
ce
Operation mode: restore
Target server: local machine
Target file path: x:\Print.PrinterExport.
Queue publish mode: none
Overwrite mode: force new settings
Queue ACL mode: restore ACLs from backup

  • Error 0x80070490 trying to launch VM without SCVMM on Windows 2008 Server R2

    Hello everybody,
I get a weird issue trying to launch a VM.
This is the current situation : I get a server, Windows 2008 R2. I've only install Hyper-V and Failover Cluster. I can create a VM but when I try to launch it, I get an error message into a popup (translated from french) : "The application encountered
an error during modification of 'vm_name' state". "'vm_name' could not be initialize". "Could not initialize machine remoting system. Error 'Element not found'. (0x80070490). "Could not find a usable certificate. Error: 'Element not found'. (0x80070490)."
So, I'm unable to launch my vm's.
I'm not using SCVMM yet. I want to resolve this issue before.
I read some articles and posts about SCVMM certificate issue but I'm not using SCVMM.
More fun, I read articles about this issue but on Windows 2008 Server (not R2) : problem resolved by a fix, unapplicable on my Windows 2008 R2 :)
I'm totalyblocked and ain't got no idea how I can resolve it.
If someone gets I idea ...
    Cheers,
    Nicolas

Environment: Windows 8.1 in an Active Directory Domain (2012R2) with MS Certficates Services support NAP/Health Registry, etc.

    Note:
VMM can manage other Hyper-V servers in environment from same machine, just not local machine.
VMM on remote machine generates same error message when attempting to manage new VM machine

  • Server 2008 Complete PC retore error 0x80070490

I have daily backups of my Server 2008 (actually SBS2008) onto a 1T internal SATA harddisk.  I tried a restore operation to verify the backups to a RAID array (Adaptec) and keep on getting Element Not Found error (0x80070490).  How can I resolve this?

OK.  No go.  I went as far as detaching the backup harddisk from ICH9R, and reattaching only when it searches for a backup to restore, installing ICH9R drivers in the process.
Now I got an error of 0x80042407, disk set as active in BIOS (which is my new array) is too small to restore.
I have a theory, though.  If it is true, then MS really should do better.....
On the original disk array, I used 2X 1T HD in a RAID 1 configuration, and the system see it as a 1T drive.  I have 2 partitions of 250GBs (for a total of 500G) in size.  So only half of the complete visible array is used.
    So to recap:
    1)  Whole array 1T RAID1 seen to BIOS and OS.
    2)  Only 2 partitions of 250GBs are on the array (C: OS, D: Storage)
    3)  Server 2008 sees the remaining ~500GB as unused, unpartitioned.
Now I am trying to restore to a RAID6 array of 8X128G (SSDs) so roughly 700GBs.  The BIOS sees the array as 710GB.  In the 2008 Recovery, after I installed the drivers (which had displayed an error despite driver installing fine....), 2008 recovery environment recognized the 710GB as empty.  I cleaned the arrary via dispart to make sure.
Here's where stupidity must be at its highest.  The recovery environment probably sees that backup image assuming that I will need AT LEAST 1TB space to restore but in reality, I need much less (max of ~500GB, should be even less because the partitions are not even half full).  So....
    1)  2008 Complete PC Recovery sees the backup image is from a 1T space.
    2)  2008 Complete PC Recovery doesn't distinguish whether the whole 1T space is used, but just that it was FROM 1T space.
    3)  2008 sees the recovery target has less than 1T.
    4)  It gets lazy and simply refused to restore with various errors....
I had used 2008 Complete PC recovery because but always restoring to the same capacity drives/space and never really have much of a problem.  But this is the first time that I tried restoring an image from a larger space to a smaller space (even though the data should fit comfortably).
If this is the case, than MS really should be able to do better as it doesn't matter how MS puts it, system imaging technology is not new and products from other vendors can do this without jumping thru loops and hoops....

  • WIndows Update error 0x80070490

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my desktop and laptop.  Both the desktop and laptop are part of my home network.  I have the HP Officejet 4635e installed as part of the home network and I installed the HP software on both systems.  The printer is functioning properly.  I am able to print, scan and the HP 4635 passed the fax test.  However when I run Windows Update I keep getting the following error message:     There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search  the web or contact support for information, this may help:    • HP - Enterprise WSD Multi-Function Printer, Other hardware - Null Fax - HP Officejet 4630 series - Error 0x80070490 All other available updates install successfully.  This issue occurs when I run Windows Update on both the desktop and laptop.  Can you provide any help on how to fix this issue?

This a what is called a "ghost update."  I am getting same error when I run Update in Windows 10.  Unfortunately there no way in Windows 10 to hide an update like in previous versions.  So we just have to ignore these failed updates and continue on our merry way.  Ghost Updates occur via Microsoft when our software is up to date and they are not aware of it.  Maybe Microsoft will fix Windows 10 to hide updates later.

  • DPM 2012 R2 - Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-v backup of Windows Server 2003 R2 - Non-retryable error 0x80070490

    Hi,
I have a hyper-v host running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard with Hyper-V on it, and on that host I got 5 virtual machines running and of those 5, 4 of those the DPM are able to backup but when DPM tries to backup a server running Windows Server 2003 R2
I get the following errors in the eventlog.

What I have done to try to troubleshoot this issue is:
    Reinstalled DPM - No sucess
Restarted the Hyper-v Host - No sucess
I'm at the point where I am out of ideas and google hasn't given me much.
    /Joseph

    i have the same error.
"vssadmin list writers" shows last error unknown for all writers
    disk space is sufficient
ntbackup of systemdrive and systemstate runs fine.
i installed KB940349 which fixes some vss related issues but the problem is still there.
    any ideas?
    Thanks.
When you have vssadmin reporting unknown error the only way to reset the vsswriters (as I understand it please correct me if I'm wrong :) ) is to restart the machine. The Fellenator is correct, make use that the vsswriter is working correctly since this
is the main function DPM is using when taking backup. He's also right in saying that it's outside the scope! Create a new thread on your error, then you will get much better responce!

  • Error Message 0x80070103 and 0x80070490

I just recently updated to Windows 10. I tried running my HP updates, but I received the following message: There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: Hewlett-Packard - Enterprise WSD Multi-Function Printer, Multi-Function Printer, Other hardware - Null Print - HP Officejet 5740 series - Error 0x80070103 HP - Enterprise WSD Multi-Function Printer, Multi-Function Printer, Other hardware - Null Fax - HP Officejet 5740 series - Error 0x80070490 Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi , Based on the error messages, it sounds like there is a driver conflict going. Let's see if the Print and Scan Doctor can be of assistance. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
Connectivity:USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing. Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary. Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.Source:Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows
Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor> >>>>> www.hp.com/go/tools If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems. If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically. If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped. If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing back from you.

I do not suppose the problem is related to Lenovo in any way, but maybe someone else had the same issue.
I am not sure what those mean and searching for 0x80070490 does not show useful results. I have tried the recommendation from:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958044
But after running both DISM commands multiple times, it does not solve the issue. Also, I am wondering if the "Polish ESD Bundle Parent" is just the first part that was checked or if this may be specific to Polish language?
I tried changing the default language for my user and for login screen + new users to English, but that did not help.

Just an update, in case someone else comes across this issue.
I decided to reset my laptop to factory settings (using "Remove everything and reinstall Windows" from settings).
After that, I performed all the updates of both Lenovo and Windows updates. Then I was able to update to Windows 8.1.
I did not find a way to resolve it without full reinstallation.

  • 80070490 error on Win 8.1 for "HP - Other hardware, Printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620"

The indicated update (HP - Other hardware, Printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620) is supplied by Microsoft was an optional update for the HP 8620. Installation fails, with 80070490 error. What can be done to get arround this error. Presumably the update is needed. I am a new HP 8620 user, and I am installing over my home wireless network. All other printing issues seem fine, without problem.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

I'm getting this Windows update errorError 80070490 (details below)when i try to install the update for my HP Envy 5530 All HP drivers and software are up to date, wifi is connected to printer and working and  1. Ran Windows 7 System File Checker and it came back clean stating:  Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. 2. Ran Windows System Update Readiness Tool (Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) and it came back with no errors but I cannot get this update to install. Full Error details are shown below. Do I need this update? If so, how do i fix? Hewlett-Packard - Enterprise WSD Multi-Function Printer, Other hardware - Null Print - HP ENVY 5530 seriesInstallation date: ‎5/‎28/‎2014 3:54 PMInstallation status: FailedError details: Code 80070490

Thank you for this information. Running the DISM tool is from the Microsoft document I provided from my previous post: Windows Update error 0x80070490. Click on Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 steps. You can still perform this on a Windows 7 computer. I also noticed from your previous post, you downloaded the Hewlett-Packard - Enterprise Multi-Function Printer- HP ENVY 5530 driver.  Another step I am going to recommend is uninstalling the HP Envy 5530 software. I want you to get the correct software on your computer. Also, this could help with the Windows error message. Please follow this HP document on Uninstalling the Printer Software from the Control Panel. Next, clean out your Temp folder on your computer by following this document here to help you. Please perform another clean boot before you install the full feature software. Once this is complete, here is the correct download here. Choose your correct operating system; Either 32 bit or 64 bit. Please post your results again!

    Hi,
How about your problem now? Could you access to the system? If OK,  you can try to uninstall the latest update or create a new user account for test to fix this problem.
If still not, to restore system to previous edition, you need to make a system reinstall.

Hi, fcullision.I have gone about performing the same tasks as you BUT I am only facing one small problem with the Password Utility; it is missing the ,dll file. However, UNLIKE you, I have performed all the updates AFTER installation of Windoww 10. Microsoft ran a compatibility check which indicated that everything about my system was 100% compatibile and I was ready for the update. Even so, the Toshiba Service Station NEVER has indicated there was a task that needed to be performed before (and now after the Windows 10 installation) or since installation. Therefore, I conclude that you CAN perform the necessary installations provided you have updated all required files so the conversion is smooth and flawless.Good luck!Bi-Ill
