Printer failed after update

I have a Canon PIXMA MP610 printer which worked fine on Tiger,10.4. After upgrade to Leopard 10.5.5, all I can get is immaculate white paper. The MP610 is not among the printers listed for Leopard so I tried two other models but still producing lily-whiteness. I understand that the driver in most of the PIXMA range is the GUTENPRINT v5.1.3, so that cannot be the problem.
I still have the installation disk. Should I try re-installing. Failing that what should I do? The Canon help-line seems to be closed for a few days.

Upgrade to the latest version (5.2.2) of Gutenprint from _http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php_. There is a driver for the Canon PIXMA MP610 in that version.

  • Samsung printer fails after update to CUPS 1.7.5

On July 31 I updated my system and cups-1.7.4-1-x86_64, cups-filters-1.0.54-1-x86_64 and libcups-1.7.4-1-x86_64 got updated to cups-1.7.5-1-x86_64, cups-filters-1.0.55-1-x86_64 and libcups-1.7.5-1-x86_64, respectively. I just tried to print something, but instead of the page that should be printed, my printer, a Samsung ML-2165, printed:
INTERNAL ERROR - Incomplete Session by time out
    POSITION: 0x9eee (40686)

I'm using the Samsung ML-2160 printer driver, which worked flawlessly until recently (note that in the beginning I had problems printing more than 1 job without resetting the printer, as stated in the comments, but this issue magically went away).
I decided to set LogLevel to 'debug' and now my /var/log/cups/error_log reads:

(I wiped out some confidential information)
Notice the failure of the RenderCGI assertion, likely causing the crash of rastertosamsungspl. I searched on the net, but didn't find a solution. However, I remembered that the CUPS packages were updated a few days ago and I manually downgraded to the previous releases. This solved the problem for now.
Can someone see what's changed in the last release, especially regarding communication with a printer driver?

Some older servers don't know what to do with unknown extensions. They are supposed to ignore them, but some actually close the connections with an error. By encapsulating, you are essentially stripping off any extensions because there is no such thing in the SSLv2 format. Suggest upgrading server if possible.

cups works and registers everything I try to print on jobs lists, but the printer light never blinks or prints as normal.
cat asses.txt > /dev/lp0 makes the printer light print but it never prints
    anyone else having this problem?

    Sort of.
I have a Canon Pixma iP5000 printer (USB), and after the last update it's still seen fine by the commercial CUPS backend (Turboprint) on /dev/usb/lp0 as ready and waiting jobs, but whenever I send it something to print it magically goes offline!
The only way to print something after the upgrade is stopping the printer first, sending the print output and then starting the printer- THIS way it prints just fine!
It looks to me like a major CUPS bug.

  • Printing problems after updat maverick

After update to maverick mine hp deskjet 3070a ,cannot print wirelessprinting anymore.the AirPrint is not in the list and, bonjour printing is not in the list *** Well Before i update the printer was working allright with wireless connection. No problem what so ever. I can only choose USB printing. Can you please give me Some advice.

I have the same idential issue with a HP Laser Jet Printer P1100/P1102w... If you tick the netwrok printer sharing box on the USB connection the Bonjoour printers show up then almost immediateky dissapear? Only on a few occasions do they remain stable enough to click on and add, however it fails to support AirPrint and will not print over WiFi... it does not pick AirPrint as the driver on AutoSelect and even if I select the printer driver manually it still will not print over WiFi... USB is fine however. I have reset the printing system, I have done a WiFi card reset, I have done all the troubleshooting I can do but still there is an issue? Is there anything else I can do?
I will be getting HP support to remotely shoaddow my Mac in an attempt to get a successful installation however I suspect the issue will persist? All the Apple Updates are done and also the current drivers are installed. I suspect this is an Apple Bug that needs to be fixed asap? It is a brand new HP printer that is supposed to support AirPrint...Very frustrating Apple?

  • Officejet Pro K5400 printing problems after update to Mavericks OSX 10.9

    Hi,
I have printing problems with my Officejet Pro K5400 after update to Mavericks OSX 10.9.
Now after printing 1 page the printer prints an extra page with '2345X' sentence on it. As this problem started right after updating, I suppose there is a problem with an update.

This patch did solve our problem with the K5400 feeding a "blank sheet".
    Thank you.

  • Printing problems after update to 10.2.1.

After updating to 10.2.1 in XP, when I try to print my Reproduction Files in White Mosaic format, the list of songs prints correctly but the CD insert prints a black square while before it printed the covers, pictures or images I had added to each song. Any help? Thanks

Had the same problem, in Windows Seven, Itunes 10.2.2.12.  I did not find a fix for it, but I did find a work-around. I printed the jewel case insert to a pdf file (using cutepdf writer - available at cutepdf.com), then printed the pdf (on the same printer that wouldn't print correctly from Itunes) and it worked fine.

  • Color (onscreen/print) issues after update to 10.4.9

I am on the hunt for any new information - I haven't found it yet. I am convinced that one printer profile has gone haywire after the OSX 10.4.9 update. I can no longer use it accurately to onscreen proof nor application manage print in Aperture. The other printer profiles seem to be working. Using PSE4 I get the same preview and print results - major yellow/orange colorcast. My other two printers are working ok.
I understand proofing may/will present a shift in lightness, contrast, etc. and you can create an Aperture version to make adjustments for that profile. But I am experiencing a major shift that is difficult to adjust in the overall image.
Has anyone experienced "all of a sudden" icc profile / onscreen proofing / printer issues after the update (FYI ColorSync was updated in that)? I have tried just about everything except un/reinstalling Aperture.

Did you find out anything about this? I'm having exactly the same problems with Aperture and 10.4.9. Onscreen proofing is completely useless for all profiles supplied by HP (I have a B9180 printer). It might of course be an issue with these particular profiles, but odd thing is that it's only the screen rendering that looks wrong (yellow or reddish cast) while the prints looks just great.

  • [SOLVED] Network Manager systemd unit fails after update

EDIT: Reinstalling libnm-glib resolved this issue
After updating to the latest version of NetworkManager (networkmanager-0.9.8.10-3), the systemd unit fails to start. It works fine after downgrading back to the previous version though (networkmanager-0.9.8.10-1). I'm not sure if this is a bug or an error on my end; since the previous package works I've just dowgraded for the time being.  For the update that doesn't work, here is the output of "systemctl status" and the systemd journal:

  • Build failed after updating to CTP 3.1

    Hi,
After updating to CTP 3.1, I created a blank cordova project and tried to build it.It shows build failed.I can see a warning - The typescript file was given no files for compilation .However this shouldn't stop the build ?
    Please advise.

Set your build verbosity to diagnostic (Tools>Options>Projects and Solutions>Build and Run>Set MSBuild project build output verbosity= Diagnostic) and rebuild your project.   The added details should reveal why the build is failing.

  • Canon MF4370 network printing fails after 10.6 upgrade

Have been using a Canon MF4370dn printer for the past year with a desktop PC, notebook PC and two MacBook Pro. Printer was connected via Ethernet cable to our AT&T wireless router. MacBook Pro running 10.5.x was able to print via AirPort WiFi just fine. After upgrading to 10.6 and replacing the router with an Airport Express I discovered both MacBooks are no longer able to print via the network. I have tried several solutions posted on this board for various Canon UFRII printer problems, but nothing is working.
Here are some relevant setup and diagnostic details:
    * Mac OS X 10.6.5
    * Firewall is turned off
    * Canon UFR II v2.20 driver (followed prior version uninstall procedure from manual multiple times)
    * Added printer first via Bonjour, then via IP address and LPD
    * Able to access printer management interface via web browser
    * Able to print from desktop PC via Ethernet cable and from laptop PC via WiFi
    * Able to print from MacBook Pro connected via USB. UFRII print monitor gives error "Cannot monitor this printer with the current connection."
    * Unable to print from two MacBook Pros connected either via Ethernet cable or Airport WiFi. Print command returns 10322 error "Cannot communicate with the printer" and UFRII print monitor gives error "Printer not responding."
I would appreciate any additional ideas!
    Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
First of all I would like to complement you on the work you have done so far. Under most situations I would have expected you to resolve your issue with all that you have done.
The clue for getting this to work is the UFR2 Printmonitor. Once it can communicate with the MF then the driver will function.
From your information I believe that the UFR2 Printmonitor could be still looking for the previous setup when the MF was connected via the AT&T router. When you manually delete the UFR2 driver including "UFR2.BG.plist" this does not work correctly when the service is still running. You will see the 'UFR II Backgrounder' service via Activity Monitor.
So I suggest that you open the UFRII Printmonitor and then click on the Printer menu. You may see the MF4370dn with a USB icon next to it from the previous USB connection. And it should also show the MF4370dn with a network icon next to it. What you want to do is update this network 'link' to the current network connection and that can be done by pressing 'Search for Printer'. Nothing will be visible on the display when this completes so leave it a couple of seconds and then open the UFRII Printmonitor > Printer menu again. If you now select the MF4370dn entry shown with a network icon this should now show a connection to the printer rather than a not responding error. If this does work then you can exit Printmonitor and try printing.
If it still fails to print then delete the MF printer queue and manually remove the UFR2 driver files again, this time adding the extra step of Force Quitting the UFRII Backgrounder service via Activity Monitor. Then restart the Mac and run the v2.20 UFR2 installer again and then add the printer via LPD.
See how that goes and reply if needed.

  • Toshiba EXCITE Pro - WIFI connection. Authentication failed after update

    Hello.
    Just received this Tablet.
Everything seemed ok while updating to the latest version (did that first to solve the heat problems).
After the last update *i lost my WIfi connection. Authentication failed* (didnt change something - was connecting - updating ok 1 minute before the last update).
After that i started testing ,Wps connection , No security Wifi etc etc.
*Finally at a random time (and with the initial settings) i got connected*. After i shut down the tablet the same problem occured.
After doing the same things again i finally got connected and this time it seems to be ok, even after i shut down the tablet.
    However this is frustrating.
Maybe you have to sort this out?
I have seen and other people returning this tablet after having this problem.
It is not a hardware problem since its working ok before the update.
Of course tried factory reset twice.
Hope i dont have this problem again, *but i am informing in hope that you fix this in a future update.*

Toshiba sent me the fix for this. Figured I would use Facebook and they sorted a solution straight away.
It requires a complete reset. Not the soft reset from within Android.
I'll post it here as they will check through moderation I guess.
Thanks for sending a private message Ben. For us to get this resolved for you we would advise to perform a reset from the Android system recovery menu, to do the reset please follow these steps:
The reset process will delete any data, settings, and applications on your tablet. You must have a backup of any data you wish to keep before proceeding.
    1. Make sure the tablet is off and not in standby.
    2. Hold down the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously until the two Android icons appear.
    3. Use the volume buttons to select the white box on the right.
    4. Once selected, press the power button.
    5. Use the volume buttons to select wipe cache partition and then press the power button.
    6. Select Yes and press the power button.
    7. Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset and then press the power button.
    8. Select Yes and press the power button.
    9. The tablet will now reset.
If you have any issues after the reset please get back to us as soon as possible!
Its been working well ever since. I guess the cache clean part might be the main one. You'll have to select the reboot yourself as I did at the end.
Might be best to use Facebook i'll see if I can find my post as the response was quick and efficient unlike their responses in here. I.e nowt from them so far.
They needed my name and serial numbers probably to log problems etc.

  • Color Printing Problems after update dec28/07

Last night I installed the latest updates for PS CS3 on 2 machines and both machines have the exact same color issues while printing with two different Canon printers.
    The Problem:
Since this last update all images I try in print from 16bit ProPhoto or AdobeRGB 16bit, converted from Canon RAW through ACR look sepia tone, there is virtually no color (images still look as they did before on my monitor). In order to get the color to print I must convert image profiles to 8 or 16 Bit sRGB. I have not changed any settings after the update and confirmed that the update made no changes to the printers set up. sRGB 8bit jpeg images print color as seen on the monitor.
BOTTOM LINE: I can no longer print ProPhoto or AdobeRGB color space on my 8 color Canon Printer

    Thanks Jeff
Both computers are PCs, one on XP, one on Vista, and printers are Canon i9900 and Canon ip4000 both are printing exactly the same way. Swoped printers between PCs with same outcome. Only changes made to both PCs was the CS3 update.
Jeff, I thought the problem may stem from the ACR RAW conversion as regular sRGB jpegs print the color as seen on my monitor. I have also submitted this question to the general PS forum...
Thanks again for taking the time to reply..
