Printer lack of support

I had owned a HP printer for over two years and had been most happy with it so when it died on me I went in and bought another but oh my what a mistake! The C309 went out on me in two months and was replaced then in another two months the replacement was out.  I called tech support and was on the phone with someone in the Philippines for three hours and still no fix so the next day I called back and was on with someone in India for 2 and a half hours...they put me on hold for one hour and thirty minutes!!!!! The thing was just plain shot, worst piece of junk ever!  Never - never again will I own a HP I replaced it with an Epson.  The HP 309 also did not tell you when an ink cartridge was empty just printed crummy pictures and you had to guess which one to replace. It would say "low" but not empty and you might have a couple of low ones so it was a guessing game.

  • Lack of support for rosetta in Lion

with the lack of support in Lion for Rosetta (so the rumours go) how am I fixed with my epson 2400 scanner an HP 5552 printer?

You should look at the current drivers available for both devices, if they're supported in Snow Leopard upgrading to Lion should probably will not affect them however we won't know for sure until Lion is released. You can find the devices currently supported at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
BTW I don't think Rosetta has anything to do with drivers for scanners and printers. If you are using Epson and HP software that was written for PPC based computers then you may have a valid concern. You can always voice your concern at www.apple.com/feedback.

  • Lack of support for Canon G7 and G9. Alternatives?

I am really disappointed about the lack of support for the Canon G9, and looking at the list of compatible cameras (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306835) I notice that Canon G7 - even if it does not have a RAW format, is not supported either.
I am thinking that the purchase of the G9 may have been premature and that I may need to sell it and get another cam that is supported by Apple/Aperture.
What would you guys do? Is there a cam out there similar to the G9 at the moment that has a Apple-supported RAW format?
    Best regards,
    Kjell Are Refsvik

I think the camera closest to the G9 that has RAW support from Apple are the Panasonic DMC-LX2/Leica D-Lux 3 twins. Don't know where you are, but in the US, the Panasonic costs about $400. 10MP, 28-112mm (35mm equivalent) Leica lens, very compact body, and RAW output. The Leica costs $599, and has that classic look.
I don't know much about that cameras, but you may want to investigate.

  • Print to PDF - using Snow Leopard (Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose

i have a PDF form that i created that is used as a custom proposal that my company sends out to potential clients. the form in its editable state is only used internally. we recently upgraded to snow leopard, but prior to the upgrade, we were able to fill the custom proposal form out using adobe reader, and, as you well know, we weren't able to save that edited document as a PDF with the custom form fields filled out. our work around using adobe reader was to print to a pdf using the adobe pdf printer in the printer dialog. with the addition of snow leopard, however, instead of choosing the adobe pdf printer, we were to choose PDF from the bottom left corner, then Save As PDF, and it would spit out an uneditable pdf that then allowed us to email it to the potential client without them being able to edit it as well as have an internal, digital copy for our records instead of having lots of paper floating around (i know this is also doable using security that disallows the client certain editing privileges, but printing to a pdf is much quicker and more efficient, and the pdf security isn't really that secure at its best).
in any case, i came across this gem of a post here on the support forums that installs another option from the PDF drop down on the bottom left of the print dialog menu that reads Save As Adobe PDF and is supposed to do exactly what i am trying to get it to do...print to a pdf file from adobe reader.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html
once i updated to acrobat 9.2 (as the link above suggests 9.1), however, the Save As Adobe PDF does appear in the print dialog menu, but it still gives me the same error that acrobat 8 - 9 gave me while using Snow Leopard — Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save — and as i've already explained, you can't save an edited pdf form in reader (as i am the only one in the office with acrobat) and still keep the fields as you've entered them in. the only work around is to print to a pdf but is apparently having some recent problems.
using acrobat, however, i know that i can save the editable pdf as a new file with the fields customized as i have left them, but it still saves it as an editable pdf and the print to a pdf option still remains the best option...that way we have digital copies internally that are uneditable that can be printed at any time or emailed to the client.
how can i do print to a pdf, based on what i've written above, using snow leopard and acrobat and reader?

A simple way is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript or PDF Optimizer (Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Discard Objects > Flatten form fields). A very nice script that adds a custom menu item can be found here: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/

  • Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File Save.

I am using Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and I was using Adobe Reader version 9. In the past, I've always been able to print to file using the File -> Print dialogue but all of a sudden it stopped working. I read somewhere that installing the latest version of Adobe Reader (version 11) would remove the old printer, so I did so. It took me about an hour on version 11 to even find the pdf print to file option, but I am getting the same message. For what it's worth, when I try print to file from Microsoft Word, I have no problem. I have no idea why things changed all of a sudden, but does anyone have any idea how I can get this working again?

I checked with Adobe.  No luck.
Allow me to clarify my problem:
I have Adobe Reader XI. I also use a Mac--imac and a MacBook Pro.   My adobe was updated on 12/24.  Prior to that point, I could open my print dialogue box and there was a PDF tab on the bottom left.  In the drop down menu there were many choices, including but not limited to Open in PDF Preview, Print PDF, Save PDF, email PDF.  If I selected one page of 30 pages from a document saved in Adobe, I could extract just that one page and save it or email it, without having to send the entire document.   After the update, when I open a PDF file using ADOBE READER XI, and then open the print dialogue box, and follow those same steps, I get the message "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save."   My question is why is this feature now unavailable and is there a way to fix it?
The answer I got from Adobe was that Adobe never had this function, so it must have been via my print or preview programs..which are apple.  Does anyone have any thoughts?
    Thank you.

  • Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported.

    Hi Guys,
I upgrade from leopard to snow and now I don't have the possibility anymore to to print PDF as a PDF.
Before I was going to print and then choose save as a pdf and everything ok.
Now after the upgrade to snow every time that I am going to print a pdf from a pdf (acrobat 9 and X) I received this msg "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save "
Why that happened ? how can I fix it?
The thing is that I have a pdf form (contract) that I have to fill up and print it as a pdf.
Now I can't do that I can save only the form with the fields unlock.
thanks you in advance for your help.
    Xoxo
    Fotis

Ah.. this is so annoying filled in a long form.. which doesn't allow saving.. I assumed as normal with this type of form I could print to PDF and at least get a electronic copy.. but no, I made the mistake of installing Adobe Reader.. and it has screwed up the print options.. when I try to save as PDF from the print menu I get the helpful suggestion
"Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save."
When I do as suggested.. it helpfully tells me that it will only save a "blank form"..
Adobe has badly messed up their reader.. I now need to print out and then scan this document to get the electronic copy I need.. I will be uninstalling promptly after this fiasco..

hp laserjet 1022 => this printer is not supported under windows 7 shares?

  • 9.2 / Printing to non-supported printers

    Hey guys...
I've started using my iBook G3 (os 9.2.2) to type papers in Appleworks 5. (Not as many distractions!) But I have encountered a problem, my printer is not supported by OS 9 and to my knowledge, no OS 9 drivers exist for it.
It is a Canon Pixma MP150.. and connected via. USB connection. I read somewhere you can make it into a postscript printer or such and print, but I'm not 100% sure on how to set that up.
    Thanks!

If you have another Mac OS X Mac that does have the driver, plug the Printer in there and Share it via
System Preferences > Sharing > Printer Sharing.
Note the IP Address of the Mac that has the Printer (Over the long term, you may want to assign a Manual IP Address to that Mac if it changes too often.) You will also need the Queue Name.
On the OS 9 Mac on the same network, use Desktop Printer Utility to create a DeskTop Printer that uses Generic Postscript and IP Printing and enter the IP Address of the Mac holding the Shared Printer and the Queue name.
To print, use the Chooser to Choose that Desktop Printer and use Generic Postscript.
HT2974- Mac OS X: Sharing a printer with Mac OS 9 computers
The example in this article uses 127.0.0.1 IP Address without explanation. That is the "loop back to yourself" IP address that would allow you to do this same trick on one Mac using Classic, and passing the print data off to Mac OS X from Classic.

  • Business Preorder - Lack of Support

I wanted to express my disappointment with the lack of support from Verizon. I decided to take part in the iPhone 6 preorder Friday Morning. I got my order in at 2:14am Central or 12:14 pacific. This was only 14 min into the preorder. I took screen captures of the summary page and of the status of the model when I placed the order. For some reason there was an error with my order. This error had nothing to do with my side but rather Verizon. Our account page indicates a 9/19 delivery but at 12:57pm on Friday we received an email saying that the date was 10/21. I have been trying to get an answer since Friday afternoon and this was the response that I got back. I can understand making mistakes but the unwillingness to make things right is what frustrates me the most.
As you can see from this screen shot the order was placed 14min into the Preorder.
After the order was placed I took a screen shout of the inventory page.

    Hi Christine,
but in the BC case you need to remember one more thing...
    JDK 1.3
    from java.sun.com
J2SE 1.3.1 has begun the Sun End of Life (EOL) process. The EOL transition period is from Oct 25, 2004 until the General Availability (GA) of the next Java version, Java SE 6 (code name Mustang).
so even if SAP will provide any updates it may not
work with unsupported java right ?
and java SE 6 will probably be sooner than
end of BC support I believe

  • Xmod Issues & lack of support

!Xmod Issues & lack of support? After trading FOUR emails with Creative Tech Support to find out why my USB powered Altec Lansing speakers do not work with my Xmod, and asking for possible solutions (the only one being I have to buy ANOTHER pair of non-USB powered speakers), I finally received this reply...
"Thank you for replying to Creative Technical Support.
With regards to your inquiry, you do not need a power adapter for the
Xmod cause it is only USB powered. Meanwhile, you can connect your Xmod
    to a powered speaker system.
If you still require assistance, please reply to this email with any
previous correspondence to ensure the quickest and most accurate
    service."
Wow, not only can they NOT answer my question, but they don't even know their own product!? If it is ONLY USB POWERED, then why are so many people complaining in the forum about having to buy yet another $40 a/c adapter to meet their needs. I keep reading over and over about not using the forum for tech support issues, and instead,?that you should direct specific tech support issues to the Support re
    ps.
    Good luck on THAT one!

    Hear, hear...
Since I don't see the Xmod anywhere on Creative's product list, well, should I...conclude it's now an orphan?
Consider also this response when I got desperate enough to actually try the 'knowledgebase': "There are currently no Knowledgebase Solutions for?Xmod Wireless" - how can I not conclude that there simply IS no meaningful tech supportI mean...REALLYNothingIndeed, it does seem like an orphan - but if there ever was any online documentation worthy of this engineering effort, why would it have been removed?
Mine came with LOTS of plastic bags and unnecessary packaging, but as far as paperwork goes, was conspicuously lacking in anything other than a barebones "quickstart"-type guide: ?just one folded sheet in each box (trans & receiver), with half of even that tiny amount of info devoted to languages other than English. ?Assembly was self-explanatory and simple - but that's all these silly little guides cover! ?Use of most features was absolutely baffling - it's like I am missing some software that should have come with it, but didn't, and there's no mention of it in the scant guides I have. ?Remotes have buttons for features like "menu," "display," etc but even with the USB connection in place and the device recognized, there doesn't seem to be any downloading of software that would make such features functional. ?It'll play my music from my player software, but there sure isn't any other usable remote or even wired control - other than the power button.
Update: ?OK, there's a little more info available... but that's only if you find the pdf on the Creative website (and your pdf software is working...which mine wasn't) but still, I emphasize, it's only scant info. ?
I at least found the audio setup instructions for use on my PC's Control Panel, but:
    1) ?My standard (Logitech) wireless mouse now works like sh*t (totally unacceptable now, unless I disconnect the Xmod USB)...so what, do I have to go back to a corded mouse now?
    2) ?A number of remote functions don't seem to work right, or at all. ?The FAQ on the online pdf includes this gem:
Q: ?Why can't I access my media player?s functions with the remote control?
A: ?With some media players, some functions are not accessible via the XmodWireless remote control.
Would it have blown your testing budget to have maybe LISTED some of the players that DO and DON'T work right with this deviceOr do I have to figure this out by trial-and-errorI currently prefer "MediaMonkey," but it seems as if a bunch of those remote functions don't work with it. ?Will I ever know what the "menu" button is supposed to do?

  • DirectTV lack of support for Apple TV channels

Is there a common site to file a complaint with DirectTV over the lack of support for AppleTV channels?  Or do I have to go to each channels site?
    Thanks for any help!
    Regards,
    -Brian

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV 1 is very much different than the later Apple TV is. For a start it doesn't support homesharing or airplay. It doesn't have many features of the later Apple TV is such as iTunes march, MLB, WSJ, photo stream and others. Additionally, it does not support re-downloading of TV shows and movies (US only).
It's also plays lower resolution video only.

  • Lack of support & answers for Twist 7705... any he...

There is a serious lack of support for Twist 7705 users. I'm trying to do a simple transfer of information (some music and pictures) from my computer to my phone and have had terrible time!
The memory card "says" it formats, yet when I check the card (using a universal card reader) there are no folders (gallery folders) as should be created when formatted
There are no USB cables for this phone, not even on the Nokia website. And buying a cable from another company is useless because there are no drivers to allow it's use. I purchased a micro usb cable and wasted my money.
When searching this site, for drivers, it says to use PC SUITE, then asks you to choose your phone, my model isn't suported on the software.
This company is seriously lacking in the technical department. You shouldn't release a phone, advertise it's abilities, knowing full well you haven't provided the tools to use the phone to it's fullest.
I've been trying to do this since November 1st when I bought the phone. Absolutely ridiculous and frustrating.

Actually figured it out on my own..
Connect USB cable to USB port on PC, connect other end into phone
Go to Menu>Settings&Tools>Tools>USB Mass Storage, then click OK
Your PC will install it's own USB Mass Storage Device driver, wait a min or two and a new drive letter will be visible in your "My Computer" window
My drive letter was G:\ and it said "Removable Disk (G: )"
Double click on the new "Removable Disk" icon and right click inside the window and select New>Folder
Name this folder "my_music"  (lower case, and include the underscore ( _ )
Drag and drop all your music files into this folder
Next, push "Cancel" on the Nokia and go to Menu>Media Center>Music & Tones>My Music
press the right softkey for "Options" and select 1. Scan memory card for new music
Hit OK and now your music will be visible and playable from the phone!
I haven't messed with downloading pictures to the phone, but I would assume that creating a "my_pictures" folder might work.  Just a guess
Nokia needs to include a more helpful manual with this product if they aren't offering online support or FAQ's for this model

  • Can Apple comment on their lack of support for burning CD-TEXT?

Can Apple comment on their lack of support for burning CD-TEXT?
I've been getting the runaround from the support people. They said to resolve my issue check out the following kb articles. The articles were aimed at giving me more information about ID3 tags and formats that I care about. I just want my burnt cd's to work in my CD-TEXT capable cd player.
I've done this using alternate software packages so I know my hardware supports it. I'm really looking for a complete solution for myself (techie) and my wife (non-Techie) to use and make us both happy. I have to admit, this really bothers me.
I know I'm not the only person asking about this. Please add the support for CD-TEXT to I-Tunes.
    Thanks

Apple people don't comment here, it's a user to user forum.
But you've got me interested. CD-TEXT, what is it? Should I just look it up in wikipedia or do you have a better explanation of what it is you're after?

  • Icon user here chiming in on lack of support from Verizon

As everyone else, I've been waiting patiently for Verizon to release the 8.1/Cyan update for the Lumia Icon since JULY. I've shared the same frustrations that have been expressed on this forum countless times over the past months, but never felt the need to chime in until now.
I've been a Verizon customer for around 5 years, starting with a Windows Mobile Omnia 2 and later going through an HTC Trophy, a Lumia 928 and now the Icon (since March). In all cases save for the 928, Verizon's support has been anywhere from non-existent to downright ignorant (Omnia 2 suffered from countless issues network connectivity-wise, which Verizon never managed to solve, Trophy never received the WP 7.8 update, and the Icon not only has been waiting for the 8.1/Cyan update for several months, but also got discontinued in about half a year after release. 928 at least received the Amber update in a timely fashion, but of course has also suffered from the same lack of support that the Icon owners have gone through.) To add insult to injury, Verizon has also offered far fewer options for Windows Phones over  the years than other carriers have.
Despite all of these issues over the years, I always justified staying with Verizon due to my perception that their coverage was unparalleled. As I'm in the military and thus move around a lot, this was very important to me. So much so that I even chose to upgrade to the Icon instead of switching to AT&T despite currently being stationed in WV where Verizon doesn't even operate it's own network, causing me to have serious connectivity issues all over the place. I figured I'm only gonna be in the area for so long, and when I leave for some other assignment, I'd be glad I stayed with the superior network.
Well, times have changed. First of all, when I first signed up for Verizon, AT&T's network (at least in the areas where I worked at the time) had a very poor reputation. Now, five years later, I've been hearing nothing but good things about them. Supposedly Verizon's network is on average a bit faster, but coverage and reliability-wise they seem to be very close. As long as I can get a decent signal wherever I go, I really don't care if my speeds are a little bit slower. I'll use my computer and ISP for anything that requires high speeds.
I was still willing to give Verizon a pass on the delays with Cyan as long as they released it by the end of the year, but my eyes were opened by two events, one of which just happened today. First, was the very abrupt discontinuation of the Icon, THE flagship Windows Phone device. Then today I walked into the Verizon corporate store in Petaluma, CA (currently training in the nearby area) asking if they had any information about the timeline for the Cyan update. The guy at first seemed friendly and went into the back to talk to someone with more knowledge on the matter. He then came back and told me the most far-fetched line yet. He said Microsoft was discontinuing the Lumia phones and going forward was only going to provide updates to the HTC and Samsung models. Whatever the case, Verizon was not responsible for the updates. I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of this nonsense, and told him No, Microsoft bought Nokia, and the Lumia devices were simply being rebranded as Microsoft. In no way shape or form are they being discontinued. Well, he must have been insulted by getting corrected, because he then said to me and I quote: "I don't know, why don't you just go read about it on the internet then.", and began to walk away.
I have come to realize I've been putting up with Verizon's ignorance and lack of support of the Windows Phone platform for half a decade because of an illusion of supposedly better service! After all this time they haven't changed their ways and show now signs of changing. Sticking with Verizon is only going to result in more headaches, delays and disappointments. After my encounter with the representative in the previous paragraph, I stopped him and asked to talk to the manager, because I wanted to make sure I was getting the most authoritative answer I could get to my next question. I wanted to confirm that as a Verizon Edge customer, if I paid off my device in full, I could leave their network for another provider at any time (somehow I overlooked this fact when I signed up in March. I chose Edge simply to give me more flexibility with upgrading my phone), and she confirmed this was the case.
So to conclude, I have decided to wait until the end of the year. If by then Verizon has not at the very least provided a firm date for my Lumia Icon to receive the Denim (yes, Denim. After all this time, only updating to Cyan is not going to redeem them in my eyes) update, I will pay off my Icon, and switch to AT&T. Quite frankly, even then I think there is a high chance I will end up switching after my phone has been paid off in the normal timeline, because I feel there is no basis for me to trust Verizon with behaving any better in the future, but if they want to have any hope of me staying on as a customer, I better have a firm date for the Denim update by 2359 on 31DEC2014. I can understand delays, but I will not stand for Verizon's lack of communication to their customers. In the end I will vote with my wallet.
