Printing ALWAYS pauses and doesn't Resume.

I have a Macbook Air and own a Samsung SCX-4200 printer. Everything was working well, but suddenly it's stopped working. Every time I try to print something, it opens the Printer icon below and it Pauses......
Thats it, it's stuck over there, even if I manually Resume, then too it doesn't work. I tried to again put the printer back via System Preferences, but it just doesn't work...
PLEASE can someone post a solution if they know. Re-installing the OS is out of question and I don't want to buy a new printer!!!!
I have searched the net and there are soooo many same issues, but none have a working answer. Apple should know about this issue since my PC is working fine and printing well.
PLEASE IT'S URGENT!!!!

No man, the thing worked perfectly about a week ago. But just 3-4 days back, I ran a software update test and it found a bunch of items (Java update, some security pathc, latest iTunes, latest Safari...) which I allowed it to install. Thats it, but I didn't try to print anything after that since I didn't want any.
Oh and now next to my name I see a (3) meaning when I open Finder and look on the left to my Mac name it says XXX (3)... It didn't say (3) before that, I wonder if that is causing the issue... and no, no one has tampered with my Mac....
Oh and this has happened before... first when I bought, everything was working great. Then suddenly it stopped printing (above problem). Then just a month back my Fan stopped working so I sent it to the Apple guys and they returned my MacBook Air and at that time it had (2) besides my name and it printed everything... Now it's stopped. Oh and I have Windows installed on my Mac via bootcamp and it's printing documents fine... It's just a pain to switch from Mac to Win just for printing.. Besides, Win doesn't even recognize Pages and number format besides converting them to .doc or .xls.

  • File vault paused and doesn't resume on Mac pro Mid 2012.

file vault paused and doesn't resume on Mac pro 13" Mid 2012 LED display even after charger plugged in.
I activated file vault for the first time after upgrading to Yosemite OS X . Normal boot is unsuccessful as system hangs and get stuck but works only on safe mode (with usual limitations)and on contacting apple support tried internet recovery to create partition on HD to reinstall Yosemite, but failed as partition lay out is inactive ,later it was informed that encryption process overworked 500GB (non SSD) hard drive and the hard drive needs to be replaced!!
Did anyone have similar issue...any solutions?? Help!!

    Ok,
did some extra test here, but first of all my configuration:
Mac Pro (Mid 2012) with ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB.
2 LCD 24" Wide-screen (1st monitor Hyundai W240D and 2nd Monitor HP w2448hc), both LCD worked perfectly until reboot after installing OS X 1.8.2
After reboot only the 1st monitor wored fine, the 2nd not even listed, so tried to invert cable connections on the 2 miniports on the ATI video card, but nothing changed, still only the 1st monitor working.
Did a second test, disconnected the 1st monitor and connected ONLY the 2nd and now the second works fine.
Tried to connect 2nd monitor on a different miniport, and i still works fine.
Updated my MacBook Pro to 1.8.2 (it as an nVidia card) and connected my 2nd monitor to it and everything works fine, both the laptop LCD and my HP LCD are working fine.
So it looks like Apple screwed up the ATI driver on the latest 1.8.2, now only ONE miniport is active.
To all users with the same Mac Pro configuration: hold to update to Mountain Lion 1.8.2 until Apple fix this driver issue.
More info are on the Console output, so will have to contact Apple on-line support to signal this bug.

  • Adobe Media Downloader pauses and will not resume (June 18 deadline!)

As an Adobe Photoshop Elements subscriber, I scanned and stored 924 pictures, most of them TIFFs of original family photos from the 19th century. Adobe has emailed me to download all the TIFFs before June 18 because of the platform change to Revel, which does not support TIFFs. As instructed, I have downloaded and installed AdobeAir and Adobe Media Downloader and I have made numerous attempts, on two different PCs (both Windows 7), to make the download. Each time, Media Downloader pauses, usually at about image 400, and says to check if the disc is available (plenty of room on my drives, and I have also attempted with a clean external hard drive) and then to resume. Clicking "resume" just brings up the same message endlessly. So I restart Media Downloader and it begins the process again at image 1, only to eventually pause again and ask me to resume. So hard drive space isn't the problem, and my ISP is Verizon FIOS with measured speeds above 75/35, so these pauses shouldn't be being caused by network speeds.
Given the time constraint,  I tried to resolve this problem today through Adobe's "pay-for-help" telephone line, but was told that the only support for Adobe Media Downloader is through this forum!
Suggestions on how to make a complete download of my TIFFs when Media Downloader keeps hiccuping?

Hi, Pattie. I uninstalled Adobe Media Downloader, downloaded it again
and reinstalled, began "Download" to a new external hard drive with 1.81
TB of available space (total download is 3.71GB) ... and got to
"Downloading 9 of 924 items" before getting the error message: "The
Download has unexpectedly paused. Please check if your drive is
accessible and click on "Resume" to continue your download." I click on
"Resume" but it just brings up the same error message repeatedly. So
please help me with an alternative method.

  • OS X Lion stuck on pause and will not resume

I have tried multiple times to install OS X Lion on my iMac, however, now it simply says that is stuck on pause, and even if I try to resume the download, it won't do anything. We have tried restarting the computer multiple times, but no matter what it simply stays stuck, or when we cancel it, which is what it about the only thing it will let us do, and try to reinstall it again, the icon looks like it's going to the dock and then disappears. I'm at my wits end, and I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help?

    One thing worth noteing;
I've also jumped thru many hoops as posted !
I now seem to be downloading and have come to realize
the progress bar is finally showing progress  YEA!
[ it wasn't apparent initially with small dock icon. ]
I have SBC Global DSL which only has 1.77 mpbs with busy 4 user LAN.
be patient ... apparently it can take a while.

  • Yosemite download paused and unable to resume

Trying to update I mac 2009, running osx 10.6.8.  upgraded to 8 gig ram.  Lost wifi connection during download.  Now I am unable to resume download or start new one.

Also another useful tip: Hit the pause button once in a while and then click RESUME immediately. This helps to resume the download from the last paused point, should there be a power outage or something.

  • Download for Photoshop Elements 11 pauses and does not resume

Download Photoshop Elements 11 using Chrome.  After several hours the download pauses and does not reume.

I downloaded Photoshop Elements directly from Adobe.  I used the download assistant provided by Adobe.  Since this post I have been able to complete the download.  My problem may have been a slow connection either from Adobee or at my end.  I discovered that I hade also been downloading a large Microsoft update that may have impeded my efforts to download Elements.  Thank you for your help.

  • Prints too small and doesn't do margins correctly

When printing any document, either form Microsoft Word or the internet, the font sizes come out too small and the margins do not match the settings. For example, I have my margins set to 1inch all the way around and yet the printer prints the paper margins at  **Top 1inch, left and right @ 1.3 inches, and the bottom at 2 inches. This is very annoying because it condenses everything and makes the font smaller.  I have already went into all of the settings both in Word and the Printer. Everything is set right, I am using letter paper 8.5 x 11, it is set up to match that paper, and I've double checked everything. And the paper is loaded in correctly. I seriously don't know what to do. I've even tried selecting "fit to paper" under the printer options and nothing has changed. I am really tired of this printer.
    Please help!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Every printer I have ever had seems to revel in messing with us about margins - I had the 7520 printer for a year; in my personal opinion this printer is not better or worse in this regard than others.
I am not being sarcastic; far from it.  I am fully sympathetic.
There is always something going on -- IF it is the printer then it might be one of the following:
Printers have margin restrictions that can get in the way of the settings - and the results manifest themselves in odd ways depending on the document type (Word, PDF, html, some-other-type).
Software can have an effect -- Online Word, for example, may not be the same as Word-in-a-Box and a PDF file on your computer is never the same as a PDF file on the Internet.
If you think the printer is messing with you because the software is tweaked, then you can remove and then reinstall the printer software -- it does sometimes help IF the software is corrupted or out-of-date.
Install Full Feature Software – Printer
You can download files from the Internet and try printing them from your computer -- local files frequently print better from your computer than they do from the Internet.  This assumes you can trust the files to be downloaded onto your computer.  Scan any downloaded file with your best Security Software.
You can try setting Word document margins to Narrow.  This may work as long as you don't get into trouble with other printer margin restrictions of it if doesn't mess up your document.  Depends.
You can try using Print Preview to adjust the margins.
You can try -- when using Word - to adjust the Footer / Header to move the Page Numbers / Headers out of the way of whatever Printer margin restrictions exist.  For example, if the printer cannot print within .5 inches of the edge of the paper, make sure the page numbers have been moved away from the edge of the paper at least that far.
Our British friends know that A4 paper is not American "Letter" paper.  The difference can present challenges - Word offers an Options setting for this to keep the A4 bottom bits from chopping off.  This setting MIGHT do odd things to "Auto" select paper settings in some printers.
You can try using Printing Preferences / Properties to print borderless -- assuming your paper selection combination and printer supports this.
    For example:
Printing Preferences > Paper Quality > Advanced >
Under Printing Features >> Borderless Printing > Select from Drop Down Menu "Print Borderless"
Combine this with Print Preview / Margins
    The following might be helpful:
Manage Print Output with Print Preview
    I hope this helps.

  • LaserJet P2035n repeate printing until paused and cancelled

I had a non-recoverable systems crash in Win7 Pro. After reloading the boot  drive, My P2035n (PN CE462A) will not just print a single page, but will print that page continually until I pause the printing and then cancel the page. I have reloaded the drivers with no change. I do have the settings set for a single page. Can anyone help me? I have only had this printer since last June. HP says it is no longer supported.
    Help!

This seems to be a commercial product. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!

  • Networked Brother Printer always paused 10.9.4 Mavericks

Hi - I have an existing Windows homegroup network with a Brother HL-4040CN printer that is attached to a Buffalo Linkstation NAS, which acts as a printer server.  I have two new MacBook Air's that I am trying to have print on this printer. So far, I have connected to the printer/NAS several different ways in the "Printers and Scanners" section of "System Preferences", using the CUPS driver provided by Brother, which is Mavericks compatible.  This includes the "Windows", "IP", and "Advanced" options in the "Add Printer" window.  In each case, the printer appears to be successfully added as the default printer, but when I print, the printer remains in a "Paused" state and will not print.  Also, if I check the status using the printer utility, it shows offline.  All of my software is updated. Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for the reply.  It is a Linkstation Quad (LS-Q1.0TL/R5).
Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to either of your questions, or exactly where to look.  I'll try to answer as best as I can.
    1) The Linkstation has a static IP address, which I tried to use (and it appeared to work) to connect to the print server.  The print queue is "/lp", so the full address would be "192.x.x.x/lp" or SMB://192.x.x.x/lp" I tried both (without the "/lp").  The only thing I see in the manual is in the tech specs: Protocol Support: TCP/IP, SMB, FTP, AppleTalk (File Sharing), HTTP (Management),  NTP (Time Synchronization)
    2) The CUPS driver provided by Brother is explicitly stated to work with Mavericks: http://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hl4040cn_all&faqid= faq00100006_004  Here are the tech specs: http://support.brother.com/g/b/spec.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hl4040cn_all
I tried adding via IP as you suggested, but the printer is not found when I use the "IP" window, I get the following error "Unable to verify the printer on your network."  I thought that worked earlier (?).  I can add via "Windows" or "Advanced > Windows", but I have the problems previously described.

What happens if you open properties by Ctrl +P, right click the printer>run as administrator>properties?
It can be related with permissions, please take a look of this link

  • Download of Lion is paused and won't resume

I've just bought a new MacBook Pro.
I went to Apple's site and got my free code for Lion.
I typed it in and the Lion icon leapt across to my Dock.
(I have not migrated data from my previous MacBook Pro: this new one has no added files/apps yet.)
After an hour the downloading had hardly started: just the tiniest pixel of blue in the lower left of the bar below the Lion logo.
An hour later I came back to a black screen. I pressed the Space Bar and the laptop beeped. I couldn't get the screen to come to life at all. Weird.
I held down the Power button and rebooted which took seconds as it's an SSD laptop.
The Lion icon had Paused above it.
I loaded App Store and clicked Install to see if that would get it going again. Nothing after 15 minutes.
What can I do to get Lion to download??

    Thanks..
I solved the problem by calling Apple:
I found after speaking to Apple, the saved file "Installer Mac OS X Lion" in the folder "program"
I made a copy to my desktop, after this I have one installation file as backup.
Starting the file the problem was solved..

  • Copy to send folder ALWAYS HANGS and doesn't work.

My emails consistently have issues copying to the Sent folder. The emails go through, but for some reason this is ALWAYS a problem. PLEASE HELP! I love TB and don't want to switch back to Outlook!

    Thanks for your response!
The copies are all set to go to my "sent" folder in the proper account (don't want to do a screen grab for security reasons).
Also, the folder is in the subscribe list - the same folder that is in the account settings.
I found that when I closed the program and ended the process in Task Manager and reopened, it started copying the emails to the Sent folder correctly again.
I'm sure I will have this issue again today, but perhaps I'll try restarting Thunderbird again to see if it helps...
