Printing Set-up Problem

My printer model will not show up in the printer list. I have re-installed the software but still doesn't show up. What else can I do.

  • HT204135 Printer Set Up Problems

I have a brand new Epson WF-3540 printer that I am trying to set up. I have downloaded the correct software from Epson's website and began the install process. I get through the "Installation" step and move on to the "Setup" step and that is where the issues start. I am setting up the printer through a Wireless connection. I have added the correct WIFI information directly to the printer and it is connected. It even printed out a report telling me:
    -Network is working correctly
    -IP Address
    -Signal Strength (excellent)
    -etc.
So the printer is on the wifi network according to the printer itself. So on my Mac I select the option "The printer is already on my wireless network" in the "Setup" step of installation. It then takes me the the "Add Printer" step. I click "Add Printer" and the "Add" window pops up (same one when going through Apple / System Prefences /  Print & Scan / +). Nothing is listed in the Default window. So click the IP icon at the top. I enter in the IP address that was listed in the report my printer printed out. Underneath it says valid and complete address. Under "Use" I click "Select printer software" and find the Epson WF-3540 series option and click "ok." I then click "Add."
It then pops up with a window that says "Unable to verify the printer on your network. Unable to connect to "(gives the IP address) due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?" Then gives me the option to cancel or continue.
I haven't clicked continue only cancel. The IP address, when entered in Safari, doesn't open. Only gives me a webpage that says "Safari can't open page because the server where this page is located isn't responding."
Hopefully that is enough detailed information to get some help.

Yup, and since all your devices can probably access the Internet and other services over the router, you may want to study the printer's manual or use other Epson resources to figure out why that thing can't be talked to.
Oh, did I mention that already...?

  • SAMSUNG CLX-216x Problem-Doesn't work. Won't show in printer set-up utility

I have just purchased - yesterday afternoon in fact - a new Multi-Function SAMSUNG Color Lazer MFP CLX-216x - 3 in one Printer, Scanner, Copier.
Although I was assured by the salesman that it would be compatible with a Mac, and it says as much on the box, I am experiencing problems which I have never experienced before when installing printers.
After setting up the printer and turning it on I installed the drivers on my Macintosh MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo processor Running System OX.4.11). The printer is connected to an Apple AIRPORT with a USB Cable.
However, my systems printer set up utility cannot seem to find the installed driver. Nor can it find the printer when connected directly to the MacBook
    I have tried the following.
    1. Uninstalling the software and re-installing it.
    2. Downloading drivers from the SAMSUNG website and installing them + updates of the other software (after uninstalling the older versions)
    3. Connected directly with a USB cable to the laptop
    4. Searched the manual and SAMSUNG website but can not find any help.
    Would you have any suggestions.
Should I take the printer back as I've only just bough it.
    Thanks in advance,
    William Bell

    Hello William,
When you have the printer connected directly to the MBP via USB, and you select to Add the printer, do you see the printer in the Default browser view? If you do not, then you may have a faulty USB cable or a faulty machine.
To check the hardware, you can open System Profiler (Applications > Utilities) and look under the Hardware > USB view. The printer should be shown on one of the USB buses. If you do not see it, then I would try another USB cable first off. It could prove to be a quick fix, and if this is not the problem then it never hurts to have a spare USB cable.

  • Preview Default Print Setting "Fit to Page" Problem

Preview.app in Snow Leopard has removed the option to print without scaling, and recreating this behaviour with the remaining options is quite complex and requires 4 extra steps.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open a document in Preview.app, such as a PDF, of a known paper size.
    2. Select 'File' > 'Print…'
    3. Change the paper size to one where the default scale value with the default 'Scale to Fit:' 'Print Entire Image' is not 100%. This step is often unnecessary, as many documents will require reduction to include margins, even if the paper sizes match.
    4. Select 'Scale:'
    5. Select the scale % value.
    6. Delete the scale value.
    7. Input '100' in the scale value box using the keyboard.
    8. Press tab to avoid radar #7256827.
    9. Click 'Print'
    Expected Results:
Click on a single option to print at 100%, if by chance that wasn't the default option. This would have been one step.
    Actual Results:
Does what it says. Steps 4 through 8 are necessary to print at 100% in most cases.
    Regression:
This behaviour was as expected in OS X 10.5.x and previous versions, or we wouldn't be having this discussion.
    Notes:
Printing at 100% is the only scaling that is common enough to warrant a button to make it an easy one to get to. Preview.app itself even has an 'Actual Size' toolbar button, but has removed this function for printing.
Graphic designers (and other professionals) or specific applications (such as printing on pre-cut or pre-printed paper, labels, or DVDs) can commonly require printing at 100%, and using PDF to distribute documents makes Preview.app the most logical choice for many printing jobs.
Having something other than 100% as a default can cause expensive media to be ruined by a mis-scaled printout, unless these 4 (+1) steps are followed every time.
Most other apps, including Safari, Mail.app and TextEdit default to no scaling, making Preview.app an exception.
I am an architect and this is really annoying!
    Does anyone know a workaround?

    Sorry no workaround as yet...
I too am now sick of the amount of expensive paper I have wasted due to the Preview app default print setting of 'Scale to fit'.
    - No option to print at 100%, you have to manually input this information.
    - No way to change this default in preferences, you can change the opening viewing size of a doc to 100% though.
    - Doesn't remember the previous settings if you decide to reopen the doc and print another copy.
I also found that if I attempted to print an A4 doc with bleed and crop marks, it would set the default paper size to A4 and the annoying scale to fit would be set to 83%. If I then changed the scale by typing in 100% but don't hit enter for fear of the print starting and then simply use the drop down to change the paper to A3 and then change the orientation and then hit enter it ignores that you have changed the scale and prints your doc at 83% on A3 - Brilliant!
It's a shame to say that I will be going back to acrobat for pdfs!
If you can't put a 100% scale radio button on the print dialogue box either allow people to change the default in prefs or even better allow the presets to control paper size and scale of printing!

  • Incompitible Print Setting Error for HP LJ 8500n in Windows Vista

Hi, I have two laptops, one with Windows XP and another with Windows Vista Business. There is a HP LJ 8500n connected with router and accessed by both laptops. Somehow, when I print from Windows XP laptop and I change the print settings there is no error message. But, when I print from Vista Business Laptop, it prints without any error message for default setting, but when I try to change the print setting (to change the paper size or color) the error message comes with "Incompitible Print Settings. It says: "There are one or more conflicting settings. One of the conflicting settings is: Accessory Output Bin: Not Installed. Output Bin: Mailbox 5." Once I click "Ok" it will have same message with output bin changed to Mailbox 6, etc. After I go through approximately 8 to 10 output bins messages, it gives me the screen where I can change the print settings. After that, I can print with revised setting. But, it is very annoying to go through these messages every time I have change the print settings.
    Please reply, Thank You,

     @fshrago
For the laserjet 3390, you have the option of using the either the Universal Print Driver (network connection) or Windows Update Driver (USB connection)  in windows 8.1.  Neither of these drivers come with a fax or scan driver.
To use the fax and scan driver, you will need to use the Windwos Fax and Scan Software however you will need to be usb connected. I have given you links to documents that explain how to use both the Windwos Update driver and the Windows Fax and Scan Software.
Driver support included in Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 or in Windows Update - usb connection only
Use the software in Windows 8 to scan - usb connection only
Please understand that the UPD is a print only driver. If you would like a fax/scan driver you will need to connect via USB and use the Windows Fax and Scan driver along with the Windows Update/In-OS driver.
    Good Luck.

  • Where did the print setting "Rewrap message to fit" go in Mail 7?

Where did the print setting "Rewrap message to fit" go in Mail 7?
All text prints too small. Settings for font size haven't changed and the emails print out much smaller than the view settings.
I don't see the options for "Rewrap message to fit" or "Keep fonts the same size".
    Suggestions?

I have the same problem. Text and the info with the "To" header all prints very small. I also cannot find the controls described. Just updated to Mavericks, never had problem before this. Same printer, and problem also occurs on another different model printer I tried for a test.

  • Using Mac 0S X Yosemite, in Print Setting when I select layout / arrows select print settings / there is no Basic drop down box to set color management on or off. I'm using Artisan 835 printer.

Using Mac 0S X Yosemite, in Print Setting when I select layout / arrows select print settings / there is no Basic drop down box to set color management on or off. I'm using Artisan 835 printer.

No - I got the iMac 27 because it was calibrated at the factory(?) and was highly recommended by friends and photographers. No complaints  at all, but this printer issue is driving me crazy. I was thinking that if I upgraded to an epson pro printer ICC profile will be on there website. I can't find any for the 835. By the way I didn't calibrate the old dell monitor either and I have had several photos published with no problem at all. Just a note, on epson website there are no printer stating they will run with 10.10 Yosemite. I was looking at the R2000 series. Right now I editing photos that I have to have ready by Jan, maybe by then epson will have something ready.

    Hi aychekay
    Try following:
    - Add a TimeStamp Datatype Column to the table on the SQL Server
    - Rebind the tables into your database
    - Try your code again
You never should run an Access Application against an SQL Server in readwrite mode without having TimeStamp datatype columns in your tables. Already for performance reasons this is a must and also, if you have datetime datatype fields on
the SQL Server that are not exclusively maintained by Access, as the SQL Server may add miliseconds when writing the data. Same for Single precision datatypes, that may be rounded until you get the result back from the server. If you have a Timestamp datatype
column in your table then Access is sure the record wasn't changed in the meantime and will not recheck the received record again against the database for changes in one of it's fields.

This problem didn't go away yet. I'm having it too in Access 2007 (SP2 not installed yet) with a SQL Server 2008 Express backend. I'm sure my code is not reference any form controls or other object references. Access just complains if you try to run an Execute
with "DELETE" on a table that has an identity column. I've resorted to deleting using a DAO recordset and loop instead for now.
I actually started out using MySQL with MySQL's ODBC drivers and my statement worked fine. Only when I migrated to SQL Server did I start to have this problem.
    Just sayin...

  • Can't access Print Set Utility

I was attempting to print a rather large (83mg) PDF file with Adobe Acrobat Professional, using my HP 6100 Photosmart All-In-One Printer, on my Mac PowerBook 1.5 PC, G4 and it simply set and spun for 30 minutes. The printer finally gave me an error that there was a problem communicating with the printer, turn power off and back on. I did this, opened the document and selected print and it just spins, won't open the printer. I tried selecting the Printer Set Up Utility and it refuses to open, computer locks up.
    Any ideas where to start?

Printer Setup Utility should not be used on Leopard. It's way out of date and has been replaced by using AddPrinter ('+') in the Print & Fax Preferences.
Are you able to print the PDF from Preview? Is there anything in the Console logs?

  • Network printer set up

    This is becoming really problematic.
Let me explain the set up:
    1. I have a Macbook that would like to print things. My Macbook runs Leopard.
    2. The Macbook is very happily set up on my home wired network along with 3 PCs.
    3. My (fairly old) printer (Brother DCP 1000) is connected to the router (not by usb cable, by network cable)
    4. My printer's network address is 192.168.2.1
Not knowing where to put in the network address I've essentially plugged it in to every blank in the printer set up window. I've tried dozens of combinations. I'm sure I'm missing some little thing.
To make things even worse, I've called Apple care twice about this. One person bluntly said that the printer set up is not Apple's problem--I should call my printer or router companies. The second told me to download the printer's driver, at which point I asked him if he knew he worked for Apple. Frustrated I called called my router's maker (SMC) who essentially said "BUH?? MACBOOK? WHAT ARE MACBOOK?"
At this point I'm extremely frustrated. I would really like to not need to move things onto one of the PCs in the house when I need to print any of my university assignments. The PCs print fine, so clearly printing is possible.
So anyone else have similar problems? Similar set ups? I know the answer is probably really simple, but I'd really love to find out what it is.
---Oh one little thing to add. The driver for the printer is in the Macbook already. A while ago I had a hard drive crash, prior to that I had somehow managed to set up the printer, no driver download required. It took a similar sort of battle though--no tech support wanted to touch the issue --not mac, not the router, not the printer. Back then I was running Tiger.

    Never mind, figured it out.
What all the tech support people refused to tell me was:
in the Queue put "LPT1"--because I should have magically known this.

  • I used to be able to print a mosaic cover from the print tab but after downloading the most recent (10.2.2) version I cannot. Though it seems to be showing the mosaic cover in print set-up it prints a play list only. Can someone respond with help

I used to be able to print a mosaic CD cover from the print tab after purchasing music but after downloading the most recent (10.2.2) version I cannot. Though it seems to be showing the mosaic cover in the print set-up it prints a play list only. Can someone respond with help in fixing this? I've tried several times with different down-loaded music but no success.

The recent releases of iTunes have brought a bunch of bugs into the printing of CD covers.
Some people report that directing the iTunes print output to PDF, and then printing to paper from the PDF, solved their problem.  Others have reported that it did not help.  Worth a try.

  • No Printer Set Up Utility

I just changed from an iMac with OS X 10.2 to an eMac with 10.4.1. I am having problems with my Epson CX6400. It will scan and copy but will not print. I have downloaded a new driver and the installation instructions say to open Printer Set Up Utility, but when I click on it, there is just a blink and it does not open. I have done all of the things that Epson said to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Consensus seems to be that failure to load a nib file indicates the associated application is corrupted. You can use Pacifist to reinstall Printer Setup Utility from your Tiger OS X Install disc. Before doing so, check for possible hard drive problems that would explain a corrupted application by using the OS X Install disc to boot the Mac and run Repair Disk as described in Using Disk Utility and fsck. If Repair Disk reports making any repairs, repeat it until it reports no problems found, since it's possible for one disk problem to mask another.

  • Need cloud e-mail address on my e-print set up to set it up.

I made a mistake and erased the cloud e-mail address on my e-print set up. I need that address and was hoping some one could look at their set up and give it to me Thank you.

    Hi,
Any removed ePrint address cannot be used for 6 months due to security reasons, I afraid you will need to use a different ePrint address due this restriction.
