Hi
you are quite welcome, so you don't any issues with the user equiv part during the cluvfy controls?
how many instances are you running on your server that hosts ASM?
More than 1 then read that: Did you change your shm values in the kernel ? Please check those values in 2.6 Configuring Kernel Parameters
64 bits: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15667/pre_install.htm#i1011296
32 bits: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15660/pre_install.htm#sthref264
Note that you have to increase : semmni, semmns, shmmni should be multiplied by # of instances, SHMMAX should be set to avail memory
Can you please give us your values from your server please?
Your physical memory :
grep MemTotal /proc/meminfo
And also the result of
ipcs -l

Error in "Checking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix..." phase
Hello,
We are in the middle of an Upgrade proyect from R/3 4.6C (kernet 4.6D EXT) to ECC 6.0.
As a first step we are doing an Heterogenous System Copy to migrate from servers with HP-UX B11.11/Informix 9.4 to servers with AIX 5.3/DB2 UDB 8.
We already did the database import with no errors. When we are installing R3 4.6C in the target server we are getting u201CMemory Fault (coredump)u201D error in the u201CChecking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix, Windows Tablespacesu201D phase.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Best Regards
FranciscoHello Paul,
There is no db2diag.log. We are in the first steps of the installation.

As you can see there is not an error message, the installation simply stops when the try to check the space available for tablespaces.

Most recent update downloads but does not install. There is enough space unless I'm looking at this the wrong way.
Firefox is installed to the system folder. Please check to see that there about 20-40mb of free space for update.

KiranI am running into the same issue. What exactly solved your problem?
I will really appreciate any info., around this.
i am trying to install CE 7.2 Developer Workplace on Windows 32 bit.
Saurabh -
Im going to be buying a mini 32gb usb that i can stick into my macbook air 24/7 without a problem and use it as "free space" for my mac but does that really mean that my mac will use it as actual space because my mac only has 64gb so im looking for extra storage. So basically how should i partition my usb in a way that my mac actually uses it as storage space so i dont get low on space and run the risk of my mac running slow?
Thanks!Bart1977
What I like about the solution of the mini-USB sticks, is that you never forget to bring them along. They just stay put.
Thats what they dont do, USB sticks are the "most lost computer item" on earth. AND if you plan on putting private/ personal data on them and lose them,....then a crook finds it,........
A superslim 1tb drive now is only 9.5mm thick (with 7mm about to come out),...realistically such a drive takes up not a lot more space in any laptop bag and they weigh extremely little.
As to the SSD upgrade, cost is too high, and it supposes one is using the Air outside its idealized use as a working platform,....meaning use only all APPS, and all vital data you need on a weekly basis, and dont use the SSD for storing any level of media files (pics, vids, music), .....as people are often found doing, trying to use a 128gig / 256gig SSD as a "storage device for their vids/ music/ pic collections" etc, and soon finding out there is no space left. -

PuruHi Purshottam,
Check the technical names of the hierarchy nodes. They should not be same.
This issue is faced when technical names of the hierarchy nodes are same.
To solve this issue, modify the technical names of your hierarchy nodes and then try loading the hierarchy.
Thank you,

The free space for my iphone on itunes does not match the free space on my iphone after syncing. iTunes shows 6.7 G free, but my iphone shows 6 G free. Why such a delta?
They've never sussed this out - been a problem the last year or two for me regardless of all the new iOS versions and iTunes versions. Regardless of multiple resets and full restores. Mine showed 3.7 avail on computer, less than .5 on phone. I did a reset and full restore. It helped - but still differs dramatically - now showing 5.8 avail on computer but only 2.9 on phone.
APPLE!!! I have spent 10s of thousands on your products both at my business and home - why? "Because it just works" I've been telling people. Not sure if I can keep on saying that if you don't get this figured out!! -
How do I set aside 1G free space for a game?
Trying to install civ4- how do I set aside 1G free space for a game?
if your son is set as a child under your Family Share settings you should be able to turn on "Ask permission" for purchases. If you do have that on I don't know why it's not prompting him to ask.
Another way to stop in-app-purchases is to set restriction on his iOS device. (Turn off in-app-purchases under General/Restrictions) -
Need more 'free space' for CIV IV???
I just bought CIV 4 for Mac. It is a single HD disk, and I cannot install it. I get an error message saying I have insufficient free space to play the game. Whuuuut?? This is a brand new computer and I haven't installed anything on it yet but a few pix. Ay adivice??? I love this gam and am worried about all of the patch problems...if I ever get it installed, that is. ALso, I am not a techie, and I hope this isn't just some problem that makes all of you giggle....
Took me a while to figure out what CIV IV was, and to find the specifications and product reviews for the Mac version. Sounds as if you may be confusing storage and memory.
Roughly speaking, everything you mentioned "having" on your PC was stored statically on its Hard Drive Disk, not in its memory. Memory is used for dynamic operations, and for very short term storage. Storage is easy, but data must be accurately stored, and that's where memory comes in.
Memory is used to access, process, check, and distribute the data that is stored on the HDD. The way the game was written, it needs a large amount of memory to put the game's data onto the HDD in large chunks.
That's where you're at - trying to copy your game off of the DVD and onto your HDD. The game is on a DVD, not a CD, so it's holding a lot more data than most of the CDs you've probably dealt with in the past. Since that game appears to be complex, its demands for memory are huge - first to install the game, but then even more so to run the game.
When you open the blue Apple menu (top left) and select "About This Mac," underneath you should see:
"Processor 2 GHz Intel Core2 Duo"
"Memory ________"
To run your game, it should show either
"2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM" or
"3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM"
If you then click the "More Info..." button, System Profiler will open and disclose the details of your computer's configuration. On the left you'll see main categories such as Hardware - Network - Software. Clicking on "Hardware" will show you an "Overview" of the installed hardware.
On the left, one of the subcategories of Hardware is "Memory," which when selected, will show the specifics of your installed memory, also referred to as RAM. Your iMac can hold two separate DIMMs. With details following, they will be listed as:
DIMM0
DIMM1
Once you have System Profiler open, to get more information about System Profiler, open the Help menu at the very top of your display and you'll see that you can open System Profiler Help. -
Trying take whole offline db backup : Error no free space
Hi,
In our Quality system I am trying take whole offline db backup ( with out redo logs). In the log file found the error saying there is no free space in the Drive:I:\orace\SID\sapbackup.minimum 27246.161mb( i think it is 27GB) required. But actually total drive (I) space is 59.5GB and free space is 59.3GB. Suggest me how to resolve this.
windows os, oracle 9.2.0 SAP: ECC5.0.
one more thing... our QAS db is running in No Archive log mode. In db12 I do observe that overview of redolog files not yet backed up are 300.when I schedule only redolog backup in DB13 i am getting error message no offline redolog files found for processing. but in db12 showing 300redo log files. How can I take redo log backup. Is this bcoz of db is in Noarchive log mode. plz suggest. In initsid.ora file parameter is showing logarchive_start= true. but in SQL> i queried the log_mode , i got Noarchive log. Is there any way to change the db to Archive mode.( if we bring db from open status to mount , we can change the db log mode) without downing the SAP.
Please suggest.
thanks
shrinivasHi,

You can take the backup on External Backup device like Tape Or Disk. To do so you have to change the below parameters in init<SID>.sap profile file.
backup_type = offline
backup_dev_type = Disk (Default---> Tape)
backup_root_dir = <Path For Backup Directory> (Default --->$SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup)
OR Only Change the parameter
backup_root_dir =Give <drive:\directory> path on which the required sapce is available. (Default --->$SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup)
one more thing... our QAS db is running in No Archive log mode. when I schedule only redolog backup in DB13 i am getting error message no offline redolog files found for processing. but in db12 showing 300redo log files. .
As your databse is running on No Archive Log Mode (As per SAP Best Pactices your database should run in archive log mode) the offline redolog files are not generated so dont worry about this error.
Experts please correct me if I am wrong.

As suggested before change the Archive Log mode using BR*tools & Restart is require to take effect.

Disk Utility - strange error - enough free space
I am trying to burn DVD-R using Disk Utility and it's giving me error after I press 'Burn" saying "The disk inserted doesn't have enough free space".
I inserted 4.7GB DVD-R drive and my original file size is 4.36 GB and the disk image version is 3.82GB.
Why would it say not enough free space? What am I missing here.
Thanks for any help. I have lot's of my own DVD-R version movies and I am trying to copy that to DVD-R.
I appreciate any help..Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The true space of a blank DVD is not 4.7 GB based on 1024 MB GBs, but based on 1000 x 1000 x 1000 Bytes. As a result, when the original file size might be 4.36 GB it might not be enough. I've found you really have to go under 4.34 GB to fit a DVD to the brim, and sometimes less depending on the quality of the DVD media. -
NOT using xp_cmdshell, Can we check free space of drives in windows servers?
Hello all,
I have a strange situation here(may not be to you), as per client security standards,
I should NOT use xp_cmdshell. Adding to this, I was asked to generate a report daily about drives and their free spaces.
Having with xp_cmshell, we have numerous ways to execute this task easily but
NO xp_cmshell. Also, I can't use xp_fixeddrives system proc because it doesn't show-up mounted drives.
So, it would be great if you can share any other possible options using SQLCMD, PowerShell, T-SQL scripts etc that we can get the drives list (including mount points, root directory(C$), Quorum drive, MSDTC drives) and their free spaces.
I tried a couple of ways like using sys.dm_os_volume_stats() function which comes in SS2012. But, couldn't help.
Appreciate your help and time in regarding.
Thank you all!!Is powershell an option for you?
If yes, its quite easy to come with PS script for this
see examples here

As far as I know sys.dm_os_volume_stats only gives the details ofabase files exist

Disk partition issue.Cant allocate the free space for windows.ls help.
I have created a partition for OS X (200GB journaled, encrypted) and also left 51GB unallocated for Boot Camp later on.
After I successfully installed OS X 10.9, I wanted to install Windows 8.1 with Boot Camp. But Boot Camp only wants to shrink the Macintosh HD partition, and doesn't want to use the free space left on the drive. So I switched to Disk Utility, to try it that way. But in Disk Utility I wasn't able to create a new partition (if I press the 'partition' button it just doesn't do anything).
Next, I tried to switch of File Vault 2, let it decrypt itself, restart, and then try it again in internet recovery mode. But still, I cannot expand the Macintosh HD-partition or create a new partition.
Disk Utility log:
2014-09-04 00:42:31 +0200: Preparing partitioning: 'APPLE SSD SM256E Media'
Also, Disk Utility tells me there is 200.000.000.000 bytes of 200.000.000.000 bytes used, and 0 bytes of free space. Even though not even half of the drive is colored blue (which displays the amount of data on the drive). Finder tells me only 88GB is used.
I used the new installation for no longer than half a day, so there can't be issues that data is spread over the whole volume. Disk Utility can't find any problems, and tells me the disk and all of her volumes are okay (in green texts).
I also tried to start from a windows-install-usb, and tried to make a partition of the 'unallocated space', but then Windows tells me that it fails because the volume is part of the 'GPT partition style'.
What do I have to do to repartition my volumes!?
I'm using a MacBook Pro Retina 15" (MacBook Pro 10,1) with a 256GB SSD (251GB according to OS X).As you're finding, a limitation of basic disk is that it only allows 4 primary partitions or 3 primary partitions and an extended partition.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd163549.aspx
For information on converting basic to dynamic as well as considerations prior to doing so, consult this article. It should help you make a decision whether or not you want to convert the disk:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd163552.aspx
If you decide to convert, get a backup so that no matter what you're covered. Not that it's risky, but better safe than sorry.
